Bay View Hotel

Have to commend the staff. Under the present circumstances they handled the pressure really well at breakfast. Always friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit worn and dated. But very clean.

Our stay in Bayview Hotel was very welcoming. Despite the Covid-19 guidelines, the staff ( Including Manager, Seamus , Receptionist Maria and all the Dining-Room and Bar staff were all really helpful and friendly.

Beds very hard and water not warm enough but otherwise ok

Got lovely big room with a fab view. People are lovely. Will go back again.

Excellent hotel and friendly staff

Loved the room with seaview. Neutral decor in bedroom. V.comfortable bed. Seafood chowder was best i ever tasted. Great steak on Saturday nights. Lovely atmosphere in bar.

Stayed for a wedding in the area. The staff couldn't have been more helpful! Booked us a taxi and came into the bar to let us know when it was there letting us chill out and relax.

Great location. Nice view of the harbor. Walked all around easily. Good dinner in the hotel.

This hotel has s nice location by the fishing harbor. Although the bar service was poor, waited some time fir a server even though place wasn’t full. In fact they looked at our empty table & ourselves yet seem to ignore us. Staff was young but seemed capable when they did there job. Food was good both in evening and st breakfast. Front desk personnel were helpful.

Nice breakfast overlooking the sea. Room clean. Staff friendly.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Great location. Decor slightly tired but clean. Free parking nearby. Good base for touring Donegal coastline. Local visitor centre very interesting. Working fishing port with local seafood outlets. Thoroughly enjoyed our two day stay.

Good family hotel, with very friendly staff. Breakfast was exceptional while the bar food in the evenings was simple but satisfying. An excellent base for exploring south Donegal and I am sure we will be back again before long.

Slightly dated hotel but reflects past glory. Very good staff

Hotel was fine but basic, and expensive given the condition. Breakfast was poor, although we were down half an hour before it finished so im sure its better if you are up early. Walls very thin and there was laundry all over the 2nd floor all afternoon. No plugs by bed, some plugs not working, not enough shampoo etc.t

Our trip to Bay View was very friendly, comfortable trip. Though our visit was short, the staff were very friendly, room really comfortable, clean and beds gave us really good nights sleep. Breakfast was very good, though maybe a bit short on staff here.

Beds not very comfortable , room warm otherwise great

Beautiful part of Donegal. Fintragh beach just a five minute drive it’s a must if you love beautiful scenery. The hotel was lovely the room was abit dusty other than that I can’t complain. Bar food was delicious and good value. Great selection of beer on tap.

The food was excellent both at breakfast and in the bar,the staff were attentive, friendly and extremely helpful with all. Killybegs may not be your first thought for a short break but myself and wife are glad we give it a try.

The hotel staff was lovely and welcoming. Rooms and hotel overall was very nice, clean and had a gorgeous view. The only negative thing is the bar in the hotel. Arrived for dinner and wasn't even acknowledged for like 20 minutes. Had get up and get a menu myself then took another 10-15 minutes to get asked for order. I understand that they were busy with an event but there were people who arrived after us and were served before we were. Next evening went down for a drink and staff again seemed rushed and didn't really make much effort to serve us. Breakfast staff was lovely though.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Killybegs, staff are very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The room was spacious with a lovely view overlooking the harbour.

Everything was perfect. Lovely clean huge room, comfortable bed, beautiful sea view. Extremely friendly staffs. Beautiful breakfast and lovely food at the restaurant. We stayed here for over 5 times and the service is always getting better and better. Absolutely recommended for people travel around south west donegal.

everything was fine except the breakfast which was dissapointing

Unloved hotel. Sloppy housekeeping standards. Good breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. A shame really - given its location on the Wild Atlantic Way, Killybegs could really do with a destination hotel.

Traditional hotel; warm welcome and good chat with owner/manager.

Older hotel but well kept & very pleasant actual keys for door locks was nostalgic.

Lovely hotel very friendly staff and made very welcome

Hello When We got to our room it was smelly and the table was about to fall apart ,the bathroom ceiling tiles were moved and exposed the roof and the toilet was very dirty

Very nice location and view! Great breakfast and very nice staff!

Wonderful hotel. Great service, great view of the bay, great breakfast—especially our server, Adeen. Lovely.

Staff great, location brilliant nice place to be. Food good,

I think the hotel could do with being updated but the friendliness of the staff make up for this. Having been to Killybegs before I was disappointed with the lack of things to do.

Carpet in room not clean Food in the upstairs restaurant very very disappointing. Send it back twice first time it was burnt. Second it was unseasoned and veg were not roasted as stated in the menu. For the expensive prices charged it certainly did NOT match the quality of the food. Finally asked for an iron and the wires were hanging out of the socket making it extremely dangerous.

The room was old and run down; walls were thin and could hear what was going on in next room. Very disappointed.

Excellent all round.

One night stay in Bayview, in the centre of Killybegs, good price,

Stayed in the Bayview hotel Aug 2018. After a long day travelling we were looking forward to relaxing. We got into our room and were met with a loud vibrating noise. You could feel the room vibrate. I went down and spoke to the receptionist (who was very polite) she stated it was the kitchen fan. I asked for a different room but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked. We went back to the room but this room was not fit for purpose so we went down to reception again. The receptionist was very nice she in formed us that the fan would go off around 9pm and not come on until 9am and offered us a small discount and 2 free glasses of wine. This was a nice gesture but we had to leave our room as the noise was unbearable. When we eventually got back to the hotel after 9 we discovered the bathroom in particular the toilet had not been cleaned properly. We did not complain about this as we had already complained twice and we were exhausted. The room was a good size but was run down - paint coming off furniture etc. I would not stay in this hotel again.

Dirty room Couldn't have shower - hose didn't fit in holder Bed and pillows not comfortable

Good hotel for location we wanted. Its a little tired but otherwise everything was find.

Clean hotel in a loving location with very friendly and helpful staff.

Nice walks around the hotel Bar in hotel has a good atmosphere Staff friendly

Located in a cute little town , also near Slieve League. Hotel could do with updating and rooms need to be cleaned better.

We didn’t get a bay view, but the room was nice, the bar was great and the price was right.

Needs updating, staff and food excellent but place dated

Lovely staff, friendly hotel. Very well licated. Killybegs is a beautiful town. Only drawback is hotel has no designated customer parking. But parking on street is free.

Gem of a hotel, so cozy and the views are amazing. Staff are all very warm and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

This hotel may have been ok for bed & breakfast as the choice off menu in the restaurant was poor & what was available was in our eyes very expensive & well outside our budget, we decided to go outside the hotel & look for a restaurant that had a much better choice off locally caught fish which was landed in Killybegs itself, we were able to find a restarant which was serving a good selection off locally caught fish at a much more affordable prices. As we had booked room only I decided to check out breakfast prices in the morning when I enquired with a member off staff in the restaurant I was informed off Two prices 7euro99cents & 10euro99cents for a full cooked breakfast so we decided just to cereral & toast & coffee no cooked breakfast that was fine until I came to pay the bill when I checked price it did not look right we had been charged for full cook breakfasts which we did not have, the receptionist went away to check only for her to come back & inform me the 7euro99cent price was only for customers who walked in off the street not having stayed in the hotel overnight, this I had not been told when I enquired, unfortunately this hotel was very much over rated, we had booked to take friends to this hotel in August but we have cancelled both rooms & we shall be taking our friends from Wales to another hotel/B&B elsewhere hence cancelling our plans to visit Killybegs, our hotel room had only a view off a gable wall, no sea views had to go outside bedroom to get sea views

Facing the harbour and very relaxing with seating and tables in the small square facing the harbour, it's a small resort with a couple of bars and restaurants, Nice little place to chill out for a couple of days.

Nice hotel with a large seaview room Staff excellent and decent bar food menu.

Lovely clean room and fantastic view. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful

Loved the size of the room and view overlooking the water however, it was very noisy with the bar adjacent to the hotel. Lovely little town with friendly people. Delicious fish from the food truck in front of the hotel.

Room was clean and comfortable for the price but needs updating especially in bathroom. Staff was courteous and helpful. Location is nice overlooking the water and about 18 miles from town of Donegal; but Killybegs itself does not have much to offer unless you are a fisherman.

Reception and Luke’s Restaurant staff were excellent. Adene at breakfast couldn’t do enough to help everyone, from such a pleasant morning greeting, rushing to get mustard and tour advice. We had a meal in the restaurant the first night and the kids and I fought over the fish starter. It was so good. They enoughed their kids meals and I had an beautifully done black and blue steak. It’s not open Monday and Tuesdays. However bit of a mishap the next evening in the pub. Waited over an hour for food and the chicken tikka masala was very bland. The staff were apologetic and didn’t charge us and offered a free round of drinks. Possibly a one of event as others spoke highly of the pub.

Only problem was TV was flickering on and off so need to check it. Otherwise location ideal n a lovely hotel

Lovely hotel centered in town.

Was great weekend although Steven disappointed about steak nights have finished and no steak Guinness pie on

Lovely, the hotel was lovely and clean, staff very hepful and attentive, the breakfast was very good and if it had been kept in the bain marie too long, it was being freshly replenished. Only dislike was the showercurtain.

The impressive foyer gives a very false impression for the rest of the hotel which remains dated and very noisy. Bath / shower and heating controls were found to be seized. I will not be staying here again nor would I recommend it.

This hotel has it all great bar food rooms Best location

Rooms very dated Valance sheet torn Cheap and cheerful if you aren't too fussy

Went to check-in and saw there was a live concert on. I asked the receptionist if music would be late and she pointed to a A4 page stating music would be late. Checking in process very unsatisfactory. Went up to the room where rehearsals had started and music was deafening. The windows were also filthy with netting that hadn't been washed in years. Deciding sleep was unlikely I went back to reception to see what options were available. To say receptionist was unco-operative; disinterested and inhospitable is an understatement. Just left hotel and was told to get in contact with Expedia.

Super easy late checkin, comfy bed nice bath

too many drunks slamming doors all night long on the weekend

Excellent staff, from bar to reception and to accommodation staff. They are what make this hotel so great and would be my reason to return

Central location with harbour views from hotel bars and dining rooms. Harbour view rooms also available but we didn't stay in one on this occasion. Our standard room was clean, quiet and roomy and had good ensuite and room facilities. Food was well priced and good quality. Service and reception were friendly and efficient. Older world hotel with many rooms and spacious corridors and good lift and stair access to all floors. The hotel was apparently re opened to guests around four years ago and it has been tastefully refurbished. Would stay here again as we had a very pleasant stay in a good location and on an interesting sea side town. Excellent breakfast as well. Very good value for money.

When we checked in and arrived to room it had not been serviced although once I went back to reception they apologised and had room sorted very quickly. Also Luke’s restaurant and the cocktail bar were closed so only the main bar which was quite busy was available.

My family and I only stayed here one night, but the facility was beautiful, clean and the staff so very friendly!

Stayed in sea view room and ate at restaurant below. Great stay just wish we had longer. Look forward to returning.

A clean hotel with great staff , ( very hard working staff) the food and and atmosphere was excellent, a hotel we would go back to.

We were expecting amazing things as this hotel is rated fairly highly. It was ok, but definitely not 4 stars. Reception staff weren’t unfriendly, but sort of gave the impression of not caring if we were there or not. The rooms were tired and a bit shabby. Bar staff were more personable and we spent quite a few hours just hanging out by the fire in the pub.

A very quaint little town with a very big welcome! Clean, warm and comfortable. A must stay on the West Coast of Ireland. Try the fish and chips but make sure you have a Hugh appetite.

Rates were excellent and experience was good. I thought when i booked breakfast was included - what I paid Expedia was more than the hotel bill showed

The staff was helpful and friendly. Room was pleasant and clean. We had a view of the bay.

First impression was good, Reception area welcoming. Unfortunately carpet and walls on way to room need attention. Breakfast was awful, tasteless obviously cheap products.Very disappointing.

Great place to stay! Staff was very friendly and it was the easiest transaction. Our room was wonderful overlooking the bay. It was large and very clean. I felt right at home. Breakfast was nice also.

Rooms smelt of damp as in not being used in a while. I booked 2 rooms I paid for 1 online at time of booking I was then charged for 3 rooms!! Still trying to sort this out with hotel not very helpful I’m afraid after sending confirmation of 1 payment to them they took for 2 rooms off my MasterCard not happy

it was great we got to relax and enjoy eachothers company

Great spot great view of the bay friendly staff love this place

We were visiting family. Everybody in the hotel was very friendly and helpful. We ate there Friday night and food was good. Saturday night they had a Country and Western singer called Michael D he was excellent. Pity more people weren't there, but I suppose January is a quiet month. Overall our stat was very enjoyable and reasonably priced.

Lovely quiet stay in beautiful Killybegs Fabulous hotel and staff brilliant especially the night porter who couldnt be more helpful

We were given a suite at no extra cost even though the hotel was fully booked for new year week end. Menu was varied and excellent as all 4 of our party had a different dish. Beds were large and clean. We would recommend it highly.

Lovely large family room and bathroom. All good. They might check the condensation on diningroom windows. bedroom fine.

Big bright room, fantastic views. Staff super-helpful and friendly. Food in Restaurant really good - impressed with allergy rating info and locally sourced ingredients. much enjoyed our stay booked last minute with Expedia.

The staff were good, the room was clean and quite large. The noise from floors below was very annoying. Sounded like there was constantly chairs being scraped skiing the floor. This went on all evening and late at night. Also at breakfast due to being pregnant I requested a hard boiled egg. The egg cane out soft as no one came and asked if everything was ok so the issue couldn't be rectified. The view from our room was sensationally beautiful.

Lovely hotel. We traveled with a handicapped person and the hotel has no handicapped rooms or facilities. Other than that, enjoyed the hotel.

A nice Hotel well positioned for bars and restaurants and our room had great views over the harbour of Ireland's largest fishing port.

Room : Fan in bathroom didn't work. Radiator in family bedroom was broken, room was on the third floor of hotel, in the attic , so very cold, had to ask for a heater, I'm sure the hotel were aware of this when giving rooms to residents.Breakfast was a bit scrimped , always empty hotplates, seen waitress throwing a sachet of jam that a person had on a used plate , back into the new ones...Just felt they are trying to save money by cutting out the little things that count , no tissues in rooms, no biscuits etc.

Overall the hotel was very good. Reception excellent at getting a connection for my sons x-box. Breakfast quality v. good. Experience marred by an officious leisure centre attendant. Sorry to find out leisure to close September. Liked the bar. Family friendly.

This hotel needs to be updated in all its rooms poor quality it's nice in the entrance on the way in to the lift but that's it they need to put new furniture in the rooms and sum pictures on the walls as the rooms or not nice at all for the price not good its a £50 room max not £110 if you are going to this town go to a different hotel

Breakfast 5* staff very much accommading, definitely will come back if only for the breakfast 😀😀

Very cute fishing town. The hotel is decent quiet and safe, breakfast was well done.

stayed with my 2 daughters before going to Colaiste Arainn Mhór .staff were very friendly and the bar food and breakfast were excellent. leisure centre was brilliant nice pool Jacuzzi and steam room.

Our stay was good we really enjoyed it. We booked the luxury suite and it was fine. We just expected bit more for it be luxury and for the price. Was bit dusty and needed painting. View was amazing. Staff friendly and food nice. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Could get wash as there was no hot water in bath . Crying baby next door . Restaurant super expensive.

Very good

Got to our room looked out window was just a view of wall so went to reception and asked if there was a room with a view as it was my first year wedding anniversary and girl was really nice she upgraded me to an experior room for the two nighs looking over killybegs bay. Only downside was went to bar asked for bucket of ice but barman said they needed all there buckets and offered a pint glass of ice which was useless for bottle of champagne. But other than that bar was nice and food was really nice.and one other thing WiFi is really week

Everything was top class.

Beds were sooooo comfy

Did not like mix up in reservations and having to pay cancellation fee

Lovely hotel with very personable helpful staff. Breakfast was great. Room was quite hot with no air conditioning but staff very helpful and gave us a large fan. Used killybegs as a base for travelling the local area.

This is a nice old-fashioned beach resort at the harbour. Everybody was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food in the restaurant was not fresh unfortunately, microwaved fish is dry and doesn't look too nice, especially when touted as the best they can do. One cheerful slightly older lady in the breakfast room was just wonderful, the next morning we had a disinterested young lady who should go to hospitality school before serving guests again. But again: still a wonderful place to stay!
