Reviewed Sep 8, 2026The motel looked like nothing special from the outside, just a typical motel-looking building. But, it looks like it was renovated inside. We guessed that they gutted the inside and rebuilt the rooms. And there's no gross carpet, but tile on the floor. They provided a barbecue and a picnic area. Our first night there, we bought meat at the local grocer and cooked it ourselves and had a barbecue. Good idea because there are no restaurants in town.
The cleaning staff did hesitate in emptying the garbage can in the picnic area. When I pointed this out to the cleaning lady who was there with another lady, she said that she'd mention this to her boss??!! Not sure why she couldn't grab a plastic bag and empty the garbage can, but I let it go. We were leaving at that point, so I didn't really care what happened to the garbage can, I just wanted the staff to be aware of it.

Reviewed Aug 23, 2026I loved the cleanliness of the room. The beds were comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was fantastic. It was lovely and convenient having access to a kettle, mini fridge, and microwave . It was quiet. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
I did not like that housekeeping arrived knocking at the door at 9am. I found it to be early and disrupted out sleep. They did not have a "do not disturb" sign to hang on the door which could have prevented this. That was the only reason I gave 9 stars instead of 10.

On arrival you are greeted by barking dogs, not sure if they were tied up. I have been bitten by strange dogs especially when on a bicycle. Would have liked to know about the dogs before arriving.

The bbq was terrible. It wouldn’t heat f so o couldn’t cook my steak. I had to use my air fryer to make it. The fry pan was tool small to make it in the small two burner supplied. Also only two forks in the drawer.

In stanza troverete un frigo, un microonde e una serie di utensili molto utili per poter cucinare, si può utilizzare anche il bbq in giardino a disposizione dei clienti e pranzare o cenare nei tavoli del patio.

Reviewed Sep 18, 2025After nearly five weeks traveling over Lake Superior enjoying its natural beauty, we were returning home to southeastern Ontario in just three days. We left Scheiber in the morning driving to Manitoulin and the Wayside Motel. Distance was more than anticipated, and we arrive late. Our host phoned us around 9:00 p.m. to ask if we were okay. His concern was appreciated and made checking it easy (...an outside light was left on so we could find our room).

Reviewed Sep 3, 2025Spacious room for us the family of 3, immaculately kept. Mini kitchen, fridge w/ freezer, micro wave plus a range of cutleries all set! Local, home made soup are for sale (to address the scarcity of dining options nearby) and they tasted great!! We enjoyed 2 nights of wonderful stay here - not to mention the day trips to trekking venues (Cup&Saucer, Bebamikawe), walk in the lovely, historic village of Manitowaning.

C'era la possibilità di usare il BBQ. Il motel si trova in un buon posto per girare l'isola. Il ragazzo che ci ha accolto è stato gentilissimo e ci ha indicato tutte le passeggiate da fare, dove mangiare e dove fermarsi
