Sligachan Hotel

The property sits on an absolute stunning area of land. The food we had in their conjoined bar was incredible and we had so much fun learning traditional Scottish dances in their after whiskey festival party. The Staff were so kind, well worth the money

Water from the fountain did not seem drinkable as when filled into our cups it was a bit yellow

The single room was great and very comfortable. Dinner in the connected restaurant/whisky bar was great and the staff were fantastic. Location of the hotel is next to none - I went for a walk up to the falls and back and saw some of the best scenery of my entire UK trip.

Great room with lots of space. We really enjoyed the chocolates on our bed. Loved the location, right next to the bridge. The bed was comfortable. There was a fan in the room, which cooled the room a bit.

Water pressure in the shower was not the greatest. We had dinner reservations and we were about 5 min away when we were informed that the restaurant was closed. We were directed to the bar next door where we had terrible service and the wait was quite long- to order, receive our food, and then to pay.

Very nice hotel and the location is fantastic. The room was very clean and the bathroom was very spacious.

The noise might be a problem for some people. The walls (or floors?) are very thin.

Tolle Lage, schönes geräumiges Zimmer, sehr gutes Frühstücks, sehr komfortable Betten, Bar mit offenem Feiuer. Auch das Restaurant hatte ausgezeichnetes Essen. Täglich aufgefüllte Tee/Kaffee Bar und Kekse im Zimmer.

Un peu vieillot, la vieille carpette au sol, ce n’est pas très hygiénique. Les murs ne sont pas fort isolés, on entend fort les voisins.

Considering the location, it was a great place to stay. Has everything a hotel stay requires, spacious bathroom & shower specifically. The bedroom is also quite spacious, plenty of snacks, teas & coffees.

Very disappointed with this accommodation. The room was dated and badly in need of refurbishment. The main table was so unstable that it seemed to be fighting for dear life not to fall over! In fact, we avoided touching it for fear that it would simply collapse. The bathroom could also have done with a thorough clean. There was visible dust, as well as cobwebs around the hanging mirror. The worst issue, however, was that the room was infested with midges. They are all over the place, even in the bath. We were bitten repeatedly throughout the night. I appreciate that midges are common throughout the Highlands; however, we were on a road trip, staying in a different accommodation every night, and this was the only place where we encountered anything like this problem. Given the dated condition of the room, the lack of cleanliness, the poorly maintained furniture and, above all, the insect problem, we felt that the price charged for a single night's stay was very poor value for money and considerably overpriced.

De locatie. In onze kamer bij het ene raam uitzicht op de bergen en bij het andere raam uitzicht op de brug.

Er was absoluut geen waterdruk in de douche en het water was bruinig (maar dat schijnt normaal te zijn)

Recently renovated room. Very clean and bathroom nice. Nice touches in room like chocolates on bed. Appreciated the small makeup towel being grey as I always feel bad dirtying a fresh white towel! Good location with lovely views.

Rest of hotel could be doing with a refurb. Walk up to rooms needs doing up as quite dated. Grouting on bathroom floor needs fixed as a few tiles were loose. Would say that the price point is quite high for one night (£280). That did include breakfast however if it didn’t breakfast was £18pp which is steep.

De locatie is fantastisch op Isle of Skye. Het is erg fijn dat er een restaurant bij zit. De kamer had alles wat nodig is. Pluspunten zoals een klein handdoekje bij de wastafel, prima ontbijt, genoeg parkeerplekken en prima bedden. Al met al een fijne plek om te overnachten!

Een lift zou fijn zijn o.a. voor de bagage. Het restaurant/bar werd al opgeruimd voor de sluitingstijd, het voelde niet echt gastvrij om er een drankje te doen. Dat was wat jammer.

Live music in the bar next door was a bonus, and the Whisky selection ensured that we stayed a lot longer than we planned!

The location was great. Sligachan old bridge is righ there. Room is very confy for a family of four. The room had some cookies water and hotcoco for guest. Breakfast was really good.

Hotel byl naprosto úžasný! Krásné pokoje, pohodlné postele, občerstvení na pokoji. Večeře v blízké restauraci byla famózní a snídaně druhý den - luxus!!! Opravdu není co vytknout.

People were very nice and helpful.

The hotel was undergoing serious and needed renovation. The front of the hotel is covered by scaffolding which makes for a poor first impression. While we were there there was a major rain storm and water was coming through the roof in the restaurant and bar areas. We moved to an adjoining restaurant/bar and that too suffered from power outages and had to close. All in all this was not a £300/night hotel, rather should be half that. Overall we were very disappointed. The hotel did not compare with the hotels we came from or went to from there.

Hotel liegt sehr gut "am Anfang" der Isle of Skye und man kommt von dort aus mit dem Auto im Prinzip überall hin. Kostenfreier Parkplatz direkt am Hotel. Das Bett war sehr groß und bequem und auch das Badezimmmer war gut ausgestattet. Frühstück setzt sich zusammen aus einem kontinentalen Frühstück und einem "Hauptgang" den man direkt bestellen kann. Dem Hotel angegliedert ist ein Pub mit Restaurant mit gutem Essen und einer riesigen Whiskey-Auswahl, über 400 Sorten! Da kann man sich durchtrinken wenn man am nächsten Tag nichts vor hat :-)

Das Hotel selbst ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, was man durchaus z.B. im Treppenhaus sieht. Es ist zwar alles sauber, aber mit einer "klebrigen" Politur abgewischt, somit kleben die Möbel und man wundert sich... Für zwei Nächte war das Hotel meines Erachtens viel zu teuer! Das kann man, wenn überhaupt, nur mit der Lage erklären oder dass es nicht viele Hotels in der Nähe gibt.

Sehr gutes Frühstück, einmalige Lage direkt an der alten Sligachan Brücke. Das Essen in der angrenzenden Bar war sehr gut

Sehr hoher Preis für ein kleines Zimmer. Zimmer wirkte zwar renoviert und modern, die Tischplatte war aber sehr klebrig und der Tisch wackelig. Da erwarte ich viel mehr für den wirklich teuren Preis.

Fabulous location with a great view of the Cuillin mountains. I loved all the historical photos and the museum room. The staff , Rye in particular, was very helpful and friendly. The little bar was a perfect spot for sampling some local whisky in the evening. Our room, 52, had a huge super comfy bed and I loved the emerald green decor.

The main reception area is looking very shabby and the outside windows badly need painting.

The staff were super friendly and helpful! Great location--near the hikes we wanted to do. The room was nice and spacious, fun to be in a historic hotel, the hotel bar was nice and quiet (compared to the restaurant next door, which was quite busy). It is also the transportation hub of the area, so it makes it easy if you are taking buses instead of driving (which we were). Breakfast was nice.

It was very expensive (though everything on Skye seems to be), and the bar/restaurant next door seems to be more into being a bar and less into being a restaurant--mostly overpriced bar food, though it's the only place around, so we were glad it was there.

No space for luggage in the room. table was sticky, although I saw in previous reviews it is because of the cleaning agent. No hot water one morning, which could have been super frustrating if we were really needing a shower. toilet ring was broken- all repaired by the afternoon. Can put up signs for patrons to be quiet when in the hallway. If a patron wants to go to a neighboring town for a meal, and they do not want to drive, they should book a car for hire a week before. No lat minute availability....

Location was great. Practically the doorway to Skye. Not close to town but good if you do not need food options.

Old and very very tired. Strange attempts to paint and refurbish but not in a good way. Just looking at the exterior, it was repainted white but they got more paint on the windows and beautiful stone frames than the walls. Not done well and the inside is pretty old and tired. Thats fine if you dont pay as much as we did for a room. It does not make sense.

I've had better rooms for a lot less money, and I think asking for £18 each for breakfast is unfair when youve paid £450 for a room for one night

The location is excellent, with beautiful views and hiking right outside the door. Plenty of parking, though the lot was busy with tourists and busses. The staff was incredibly friendly. We loved the breakfast and the restaurant is great for people watching, whiskey, and hearty meals. The suite was excellent for 3 people to share, though you have to carry your luggage up a few short, awkward stairwells. The windows were open and heat was full blast when we arrived - make sure you use the windows to moderate the temperature (do not close them). You cannot turn down the heat. We were glad they let us store an expensive racing bike in our room.

The parking lot was busy with tourists and busses so a bit hectic. You can only control the temperature of the room by opening the windows.

There was no lobby to rest as the main whiskey / fireplace room was under reservation. That was very disappointing. For the small rooms and age and lack of updates to carpet and walls its cost definitely did not convey.

This was our most expensive hotel on this trip and it was shabby, dirty, curtains were hanging off the rails in our room, walls shabby and there was blood on the bottom bed sheet - nothing was done about this! No evening restaurant - you have to go next door - there is a bar no barperson, the receptionist grudgingly agreed to get us a drink. This is not the expectation for over £300 for a night !! The location is what this hotel survives on, unlike other hotels that try super hard and rely on their reputation for cleanliness, service, food etc this hotel is all there is before Portree (the capital) town. Do not stay!

Personale cordiale e molto disponibile: abbiamo avuto ritardi con i trasporti e ci sono comunque venuti incontro per la cena nonostante l'orario. Camera e bagno completi di tutti i comfort a partire dalla macchinetta del caffè e il bollitore fino ai prodotti da bagno.

Locatie was top. Naast het hotel een mooi oud bruggetje over een rivier met een leuke mythe.. Kamer was goed met een goed bed en een lekkere douche. Direct naast of aan het hotel zat een groot en goed restaurant.

De kamers waren gehorig. Personeel niet erg vriendelijk. Als grootste diepte punt kwam er uit de keuken het geluid van een kotsende medewerker. Op dat moment werd ons ontbijt menu bereid. We hebben het bestelde menu overgeslagen en hebben de ontbijt zaal verlaten. Toen onderweg maar lekkere broodjes gescoord.

Sehr freundliches Personal. Kaffee und Tee im Zimmer wurde jeden Tag nachgefüllt. Tolles Frühstück und ein guter Kaffee.

Bad war nicht sauber, Badewanne bei Ankunft sandig. Sofa durchgesessen und schmuddlig.
