We had a wonderful stay at Sai Daeng Resort! The service was excellent, and the staff were always kind, helpful, and attentive. They took great care of us and made sure our room was comfortable and well prepared throughout our stay. The shuttle service to and from the resort was excellent, very convenient and well organized. The driver was especially kind, friendly, and courteous, which made every ride even more pleasant. We really enjoyed our stay and truly appreciate the warm hospitality. Highly recommended!
Got picked at the pier from the hotel free shuttle staff at reception we’re all friendly to us quick check in we booked superior sea view rooms our faced the sandy side room 414 not to far for the pool bar and few steps down to the beach side and restaurant. Room was nice not super big view was great good air conditioning only thing the door but fiddly to open and shut .we had breakfast had egg station for what you want lots choice we did the Barbecue night which had a fire show that was good staff at the pool bar Oscar and everyone looked after us happy hour was good best snorkel was the other side rocky but we did see a reef shark on the sandy side .we did use the shuttle bus few times but also got taxi back from the town about 10 pound we enjoyed our stay here if you want a peaceful time it’s a lovely place to go .also we booked a couple trips with the hotel prices were very reasonable.
I had a wonderful stay overall and would definitely recommend this resort, especially if you're looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature. The location is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking ocean views and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind. The natural sounds of the island were one of my favorite parts of the experience, so noise was never an issue—in fact, it added to the charm. The resort is beautifully designed and very well maintained. Since it is built on a hill, you will get your steps in, but free buggy rides are available if needed. I stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View Villa, which offered excellent value for the price. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had incredible views. While I noticed a few minor details that could have been cleaner, the overall standard was very good. The amenities are outstanding. The yoga classes, Muay Thai sessions, gym, pool, and other activities create a great balance between relaxation and staying active. The opportunity to snorkel in two different bays is amazing and adds a lot to the overall experience. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, and the service was consistently good. While English can sometimes be a barrier (as not all staff members are fluent), everyone was willing to help and did their best to assist. The food offered a great variety of authentic Thai dishes, although I found the Western options to be below the standard I expected from a resort of this quality. The free daily shuttle service to town is a great addition and provides more dining options. Overall, this is a beautiful resort with an amazing atmosphere, excellent facilities, and great value for money. I would happily stay here again :)
Excellent stay, very comfy beds, very good aircon, beautiful location, spotless, great breakfast and the best snorkelling on the island right on the doorstep. The trade off for this oasis of tranquillity is isolation. If you don't hire a moped, you need to rely on cabs and the hotel shuttle so just be prepared to swallow the cost. The staff are lovely but language can be an issue..if you use their whatsapp messenger service, ask for confirmation of yr request as it wasn't always clear if a cab or class had been booked ( it was). We ate in the hotel restaurant several times. Pricier than in town as you'd expect but not overpriced. Both Asian and western dishes were great, so we're the cocktails and house wines. Lovely ladies in the spa. Again, more than town but beautiful ambiance, you hear the gentle lapping of the sea and birds tweeting rather than mopeds racing past. Use Google translate when booking a treatment to explain if you've had surgery or spinal issues. Thai massage is not for the faint hearted! They can advise on more gentle treatments. We had 6 nights here and didn't want to leave. Our son is a dive instructor on Koh Tao and said you wouldn't find better snorkelling anywhere else. Kayaks are free but be mindful the weather changes v fast. We kayaked to the island to freedive and snorkel. Half an hour later we were caught in a powerful squall and it was hard work getting back. The sea is like a warm bath and we didn't see a single jellyfish. Best snorkelling is the pool side which is more sheltered. Access is via the rocks. It was sad to see a few ignorant people crushing the coral as they got in. This is the ideal place to teach kids how to get in the water carefully! Invest in rock shoes or better still, fins, the coral is razor sharp if you stand on it, but u shouldn't... If you want brilliant snorkelling and prefer to mix the buzz of town with peace and quiet, this is a fantastic choice. We really didn't want to leave. Highly recommend the Ocean Deluxe Villas, we had a beautiful view. We had Room 209 which was perfectly located for the pool (no noise despite proximity, pool bar music stops at 7 pm) and not too many stairs down to the restaurant and amazing snorkelling. Just request a room without too many steps when booking, the staff do their best to help. This really was a special place.
Very nice calm and secluded property. If you want to relax and tune things out, this is the place. It is a one minute walk from your room to some amazing snorkeling. Turtles, small sharks, anemonies, huge tabling Acropora corals, enormous brain corals, multitudes of fish to see. The pool was nice and not overcrowded. It was nice to have free Muay Thai and yoga lessons. The breakfast was OK.
We stayed here for five nights as a couple in April 2026. We came to Koh Tao primarily for snorkeling and chose this resort because we could enter the water directly from the property. It turned out to be absolutely the right decision. During our stay, we joined a snorkeling tour that covered six different spots, including beaches we had considered staying at, and it only reinforced how strong this resort’s location and house reef really are. The property also shows thoughtful attention to environmental sustainability throughout, which we appreciated. The staff are consistently warm and welcoming. While some are not fully comfortable in English, communication was never an issue. We stayed in a corner room with an ocean-view balcony, which was very comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the hot water in the shower was reliable. The breakfast buffet is excellent, with an omelet station, rotating Thai dishes, and even dim sum. There are also lighter options like fresh fruit and chia seed pudding, plus a proper espresso machine. We ended up having all our meals at the resort and found the food consistently good. The room service bento box was also a convenient option. There’s a spa offering massages and facials, a beautiful pool bar with a view, and a gym, so it’s easy to spend your entire stay within the resort. Complimentary activities are plentiful as well—yoga, Muay Thai, art sessions, cocktail making, movie nights, and more. Most importantly, the snorkeling here is outstanding. The best spot is behind the pool, where you can also catch the sunrise. Being alone in the water while the fish become active in the early morning is a truly special experience. Even during the day, the beachside offers an impressive variety of marine life—you won’t get bored even after several days. If you’re staying in Koh Tao for a few nights, I would choose this resort without hesitation. (We also spent five nights on Nangyuan Island afterward, and the snorkeling quality here is easily on par—this place really holds its own.) There is a complimentary scheduled shuttle from the pier, which is standard on Koh Tao, and going into town is easy if you want to. (Couple in their late 50s / frequent long-term travelers / generally luxury-oriented; did some backpacking in youth)
Amazing hotel with outstanding views. Rooms are great. Fresch and clean. Good food and drinks. The hotel staff are very nice and helpful. Lots of offers like yoga, Muay Thai, massage etc. We booked their longtailboat for a whole day, went to Koh Tao 5 most amazing snorkelingsites, amazing experience with a super guide. - for lots of steps and hills. Think twice if you have back or kneeproblems. Not for disabled people. +would love to go there again Absolutely recommended!
I feel it is only fair to point out that we visited the Sai Daeng Resort towards the end of our holiday, having previously stayed in some amazing hotels. If this had been our first stop, perhaps we wouldn't be so critical, difficult to know. Firstly, the many positives. The setting is incredible, literally right on the beach. The snorkeling (the reason we booked here) was amazing - you can swim to the coral reef right from the beach, and we saw a huge variety of colourful fish, a turtle and some sharks! It is incredibly peaceful, and listening to the waves whilst in bed (which was very comfortable) is a great experience. The air con is effective so had a good night's sleep. The staff are all so lovely, friendly and polite. The pool is attractive with plenty of comfortable sunbeds. The cocktails are absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, especially during Happy Hour. We enjoyed some of the many complimentary activities, especially the bead craft. So why only 3 stars? Our room (a superior sea view with balcony) and the part of the hotel that we were situated in, was very dark and dingy, in fact my husband likened the grey stone corridor to a prison! It was in desperate need of redecoration and a general make over. I REALLY didn't like the bathroom and I think the attached photos will show why. Maybe the grey concrete walls and floor might have appeared stylish when the hotel was first built, but now it is very grim indeed. After reading other reviews and speaking to a guest who was staying in a different part of the hotel, we are wondering if we were unlucky in the room we were allocated. I just know that after four nights, I was relieved to be leaving, which is such a shame! Even the wooden chairs on the balcony were so uncomfortable, even though it was easily big enough for nicer chairs or even sunbeds. There weren't even any cushions in the room to help us enjoy the amazing view. Breakfast was ok, not quite up to the standard we had started to get used to in some of the bigger hotels, but not a problem. The sunbeds on the beach were very old and worn, but again, we weren't too worried by this. Great memories of the snorkeling, but generally disappointed.
A slice of heaven! Graciously built into the natural granite formations and a huge natural sandy beach this resort is an ideal zen location. We have an amazing two bedroom villa with an infinity pool to which it seems many of the villas came with pools. The main pool was perched on a cliff that was a dramatic infinity pool so definitely check out their videos as hard to imagine the expanse. Coupled with the best service and most polite staff. The rooms were very clean and well appointed with very update to fixtures. Great value and quite serene!
Truly a magical place run by warm people with love in their heart. The location is unparalleled in beauty. The service was exemplary in very way. The yoga was my personal favorite. I did yoga every day for 7 days. The restaurants food is excellent and offers a good variety of dishes to suit all tastes. I highly recommend
5* Location - 3* Hotel This was our last stay in Thailand and we were really looking forward to it... Sadly I felt it lacked in so many areas - staff are young and poorly trained, usually had to ask 3 times for a drink. Moved room after day one as no balcony or even chairs in the room - hefty upgrade charged. Generally a very uncomfortable hotel - hard chairs everywhere apart from the pool. Sunbeds on the beach need changing - like something from the 80s! Food is average at best. No management around to check on staff - I saw staff daily taking photos to obviously send to the boss. Pool sunbeds not opened until 10.30 unless you help yourself. Felt generally quite grubby and unloved. 500bht for a taxi (supplied by hotel) is ridiculous for a max 10 minute journey so other than getting the shuttle we felt quite trapped. It was 500bht in Bangkok for a taxi from central hotel to the airport (45 minutes) as a comparison.
Sai Daeng, located on Koh Tao, has a special charm. It’s nestled in a small bay, giving it a more intimate atmosphere. The hotel offers rooms with stunning ocean views. The ambiance is peaceful, perfect for relaxation. The beach is easily accessible, with great snorkeling spots. The staff is welcoming, and the setting—between sea and greenery—invites serenity. For an even more unique experience, I highly recommend the beachfront cabanas. In particular, room 401, right by the water, with the soothing sound of waves, is truly a little piece of paradise.
This resort has been the highlight of my 3 weeks in Thailand. The service, the food, the views, the rooms, the classes, the gym , the pool...EVERYTHING about this place is superb. I literally didn't want to leave. Only thing is that there are a lot of stairs so I would keep this in mind if I was going with elderly, otherwise the steps are absolutely fine. Thanks for the memorable holidays guys.
Relaxed wonderful atmosphere, beautiful beach and snorkeling paradise, very friendly and helpful employees, delicious food
Great location, beautiful beach, great for snorkeling. I saw a little shark there while snorkeling . Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely return again.
Traveled around koh tao many times but this place to me is the best beautiful people really want to help would go back drop of a hat
Very nice resort. Relaxing atmosphere, beautiful sea view, and good service. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It’s a great place to relax. I really recommend it!
I stayed at Sai Daeng Resort, Koh Tao, and honestly I highly recommend this place, especially if you love crystal-clear beaches, being close to nature, enjoying a full-service resort, staying active, relaxing with spa or massage, and spending time doing outdoor activities like I do. The resort has its own private beach, which is quiet and never feels crowded. I loved waking up and just walking straight down to the sea. It feels very peaceful and almost hidden from the rest of the island. The facilities and activities are a huge plus. They offer boxing and yoga classes, and even have an ice bath, which is perfect after a workout or a long day in the sun. There is also a fully equipped gym with a beautiful sea view, so you can work out while enjoying the scenery. On top of that, there’s a pool bar, so you can relax with a drink and enjoy the view. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, which made the stay feel even more comfortable. The resort also has its own restaurant, and the food is really good, especially the Thai food, which was much better than I expected from a hotel restaurant. I ended up eating there a lot because it was so convenient and tasty. One thing I really loved is that they provide a snorkeling mask for free in the room as part of the facilities, and also a large beach straw tote, which is really convenient so you can just grab everything and go straight down to the water. The area around the beach is great for snorkeling too. I stayed in a villa, and the room was really nice and spacious. The bed was very comfy, and the pillow was low, which I personally love. The bathroom was quite big as well, almost as big as the bedroom, and they designed it with separate wet and dry areas, which makes it much more comfortable to use. Overall, Sai Daeng Resort is perfect if you want a quiet, private, full-service stay with lots of activities, direct beach access, and great food. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting Koh Tao.
Out of all our stops in Thailand, this was my favourite. The location is absolutely stunning and the staff are amazing. It was easy getting hold of reception via the room phone or WhatsApp and they were responsive. The shuttle service to the hotel and to the pier was very convenient. The beach/bays either side of the resort was great for snorkelling (the hotel even has complimentary snorkel masks in the room). The room was clean and the beds even had mosquito nets. It was a very nice, chilled and relaxing experience.
What an amazing resort! This was our second stay (2023 first time) and as we thought it could not get better, the beautiful people at Sai Daeng made it Even better than the first time! - amazing rooms, clean, spacious - good views! - great food! Breakfast, lunch, dinner….🤩 - lovely staff!!! No matter who or where at the hotel, everyone is lovely and helpful! - super extras!! Muay Thai, Yoga, Spa, kanoeing, ice bath… and pool DJ! Fabulous! And - of course- the resort itself! Great beach, great corals, great pool Definitely a 5 Star rating- we will come back a third time 🐠🩵🐠 Thank you, Sai Daeng
We recently stayed at Sai Deng Resort and there's no denying that the setting is absolutely stunning — the views over the bay are beautiful, and the surrounding nature makes for a really peaceful atmosphere. The snorkelling was also a highlight, with equipment provided in the room and vibrant marine life just steps from the beach. Unfortunately, the room itself really let the experience down. From the moment we arrived, there was a persistent smell of sewage in the room that didn’t go away. On top of that, the air-conditioning started leaking in the middle of the night all over the TV and our belongings. While staff were friendly and quick to come and fix it (even during the night), it wasn’t ideal as we were woken for it! The next day, we returned to the room to find the staff inside without us being informed, and the entire AC unit had been removed from the wall — again, quite a surprise. The resort is also quite far out from the main areas of Koh Tao, so taxis can be expensive. They do offer shuttle buses to the pier but you need to book in advance and there aren’t many throughout the day. You have to then get to the town from there. Overall, while the natural beauty of the place and the helpfulness of the staff were definite positives, the condition of the room and the surprise maintenance work left us feeling disappointed. If the rooms were improved, it could be a really great spot — but for now, the experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations set by the location.
Best Hotel at best location in Koh Tao! Great room, great views, great food, super service and private beach at disposal
Absolutely beautiful resort set on the most gorgeous beach. We stayed in the family beachfront villa with our 2 teenagers, we had our own pool overlooking the beach which was amazing. Listening to the waves at night going to sleep was so relaxing. The villa was spacious & comfortable. The upstairs bathroom was a little hot & dark, but didn’t worry us. Being able to snorkel directly from the resort was the best part, so many fish & beautiful coral on the other side of the resort. Bring beach shoes as it’s quite rocky to get in. The beachfront restaurant was lovely & the service was good, reasonable prices too. When you book directly through the resort you get a private long tail boat tour around the island & massages in the spa included. Would not hesitate to come back to Koh Tao & Sai Daeng, just wished we’d stayed longer.
We recently spent 2 weeks at Sai Daeng and cannot recommend it enough! The whole resort is beautiful, so well thought out and could not be in a better setting on the Peninsula! You have access to 2 lovely beaches on either side, which I think is unique to this resort with most places only having one. Both of which are quiet and peaceful with amazing snorkelling. Hin Gnam especially being one of the best reefs on the island and we also saw 3 turtles and also baby sharks on the Sai Daeng beach side! Every single member of staff was extremely kind and polite, especially Pai who was always lovely and went out of his way to help us and make our holiday! The beach front restaurant is such a lovely setting with amazing food and serving delicious breakfast and drinks, accommodating our dietary requirements. We really appreciated the free kayak use to go to shark island and shark bay (although you do need to be fit and confident using a kayak!) Our room was amazing with a great view, comfy bed and housekeeping did an excellent job every day. We spent a lot of time researching the best place to stay on the island and Sai Daeng definitely is it. Especially if you’re interested in snorkelling and a relaxed, luxury environment, with excellent value for money.
A slice of paradise that exceeds every expectation – Authentic, premium-level experience. From the very first contact with Resort Sai Daeng, I was impressed by the team’s responsiveness, warmth, and professionalism. Every message was handled with care and a genuine smile – a great introduction to what turned out to be an unforgettable stay. Upon arriving at the pier, the transfer was seamless and well-organized. The driver was easy to find and within minutes, we were comfortably on our way through Koh Tao’s beautiful hills, arriving at this dream-like resort nestled in a breathtaking bay. 📜 A fascinating local fact: Koh Tao is traditionally divided among a few families, and the owner of the resort is one of them – a truly kind and approachable person, often present at the resort, whose face is even featured in the resort’s logo. A personal and authentic touch that adds soul to the place. The check-in was warm and professional, like every interaction during the stay. A small story that says it all: I showed up for breakfast at 6:50 (well before the official opening time at 7:15) due to an early check-out. Instead of showing any annoyance, the staff apologized that everything wasn’t ready yet and warmly invited me to help myself. That level of hospitality says it all. 🏡 I stayed in Deluxe Sea View Room A107 – a perfect choice. The room was spacious, quiet, with a beautiful wooden floor, a super comfortable bed, flawless air conditioning, and a truly stunning view over the bay. Even during stormy nights, the room was perfectly sealed. Waking up to the sound of the waves was absolutely priceless. 🏊♂️ The resort also features a wonderful guests-only swimming pool, with a swim-up bar where you can enjoy excellent cocktails while sitting comfortably in the water, gazing at the unmatched view over the entire bay. Pure bliss. 💎 The diving center was the true highlight of my stay. I was lucky enough to be trained by the outstanding instructor Koray, who showed exceptional patience, genuine passion, and a rare ability to create confidence and calm underwater. Thanks to him, I completed both my Open Water and Advanced certifications, and even added the Nitrox specialty due to the high quality of instruction. The diving center is expertly managed by Phoom, a truly professional and kind presence who ensures everything runs smoothly and safely. The lessons were crystal clear, customized, and taught in perfect English, with each dive offering a new and exciting adventure. Whether you're a beginner or an enthusiast, this is the perfect place to discover and fall in love with diving. 🍽 The resort’s restaurant is excellent: great food, fair prices, and friendly service. It’s open from 7:15 for breakfast, and then continuously from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, serving a wide range of dishes including Thai cuisine, European dishes, pizza, snacks, cocktails, and more. 🧼 The housekeeping is flawless, with fresh drinking water replenished daily and the rooms kept spotless. The staff is always smiling, kind, and helpful, adding to the overall pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. ⚠️ Important note for guests with limited mobility: the resort is spread out along a hillside, which means you’ll need to walk up and down steps to reach the beach or return to your room. This won’t be an issue for most people, and honestly, a bit of walking does us all good – even on vacation! But those with very restricted mobility may want to consider alternatives. 🔚 In short: Resort Sai Daeng is a hidden gem for those seeking a premium boutique experience, blending luxury, nature, and authentic Thai hospitality. I wholeheartedly recommend booking diving lessons with Koray and the team – world-class quality at unbeatable prices. A place that will forever hold a special place in my heart 🇹🇭
It is a beautiful resort amazing food a big variety to order and very well priced accommodation is excellent the snorkeling is the best on the island
mattress springs were sticking out of the bed and scratched my girlfriends leg when she got out of bed. breakfast was ok but nothing special. Snorkeling is not good, all of the coral has been destroyed and just washing up on the shore. It’s really sad to see so much destruction
The views are spectacular, but unfortunately everything else is way below average. This hotel was built about 25 years ago and It feels sad and old. Sadly It is definitely not worth what you pay for it. The majority of the resort is dated and in need of some repairs. The staff were mostly good to be fair, and they did sort couple of issues we had, but the quality is well below par on what they advertise. The room had broken air con, phone not working, lots of insects and not even one bottle of complimentary water (every other hotel in south east Asia has provided this basic need). Everything has an extra price. The beach is small and crowded and again, you have to pay extra for a seat. Take jelly shoes or similar as everyone coming in and out the sea had sliced up feet and ankles. No one advices you on this. Extra payment again if you want to borrow a snorkel. The restaurant was probably the worst bit. Bad food and service all round. Also, there were no treatments available to book the days we were there. Not due to availability, but to no staff present. I was looking forward to this stay, especially because we spent a little more than our average as a treat and it fell well below expectations. We have had far better experiences at much cheaper hotels.
We had the absolute joy of staying for a few days while our friends got married at the resort, and WOW. Everything about this place is just stunning and so surreal. "Ocean view" really does mean ocean view - well worth paying a little extra for. There's ocean on both sides of the resort so it's surrounding you, and the team were so helpful. Brekkie is great too! Thank you so much Nick & team xx
One of the best resorts on the island, hands-down! Super friendly staff and absolutely studding rooms. A bit out of the way, but so worth it because it's quiet and exactly how you should experience an island like Koh Tao. Can't wait to go back soon.
What an amazing spot! One of the best places I have ever stayed. Staff were so welcoming. Went for a friends wedding, arguably the best wedding I have ever been too! Would totally reccomend to anyone! Food was amazing also and had some incredible snorkelling!
I am a very lucky woman indeed because I am a Sai Daeng Resort Bride! The resort hosted our wedding of 65 guests and left no stone unturned in making it the most beautiful and perfect wedding we could have ever dreamed of. I live here in Thailand, and have stayed in many resorts, but there is no match for Sai Daeng. Since it is located on a peninsula, nearly every room has the most stunning sea view and total privacy. What’s more, the food and beverage on site is extremely reasonably priced. You can easily eat for less than 200 baht per dish. The Thai food is authentic and delicious, and the cocktails are irresistible. The beach is one of the most beautiful in Thailand, and it is pretty quiet. You can kayak over to shark island or snorkel with baby sharks right from the beach. Finally, the Sai Daeng team are wonderful. Always smiling, always polite, and always putting your needs first. They are a credit to the incredible family who run the resort. Myself, my husband, and all 65 of our guests can’t wait to stay at Sai Daeng Resort again.
Amazing
I spent almost 3 months traveling around Asia visiting different countries, meeting hundreds of new people and experiencing so many different cultures. Midway through my trip I decided to take a break from hostels and reward myself with a stay at a nice resort. I can not emphasize enough how big of an understatement calling Sae Daeng “nice” is. I had a gorgeous room with a stunning view of the ocean and a clear view of more stars I’ve ever seen at any other place in my life. The resort staff are so incredibly helpful and some of the nicest people I’ve met. the different workout, yoga, and Muay Thai classes are exceptional. The resort is a peninsula with one side being a gorgeous beach that watches the sun set while the other you can put on flippers and goggles and swim around the same coral and fish people pay hundreds of dollars to get on a boat and scuba dive. The island is small and easy to get around, so combining the shuttle service with a scooter I rented from the resort meant I could get anywhere on the island in less then 15 minutes. You get picked up off the ferry and taken to the resort which is extremely calming after a potentially stressful ferry ride. To stay on such a nice secluded resort and have everything I need on site was such a relief of the constant moving around of the 6 weeks before . If I ever find myself in koh tao again there is no doubt I will try to stay at sai daeng again.
I would like to share my opinion regarding my stay at Sai Daeng Resort. I checked out on March 27th. One of the staff members (Htay) damaged my bag when putting it on the motorbike cart. I immediately reported this incident to (Baitong) at the exact moment, but he dismissed it as if it had already been damaged, which is a lie. Everyone saw the incident happen and did not acknowledge it. To this day I am waiting for a response to my emails and nothing. I have sent emails everywhere and no one has answered me. The doors to the room are not secure and the phone in the room was not working, meaning we had no way of contacting reception if something happened. Furthermore, the TV has no channels. I found the hotel restaurant expensive and the food was not good at all. Terrible staff
Everything perfect, we had the deluxe ocean view villa and it’s crazy! All in all crazy experience!! It is like a private island with beautiful pool, the best beach, best place to snorkel, good gym! The schedule is also amazing, with free Muay Thai lessons and yoga lessons! Worth a try for sure!
Beautiful spot to stay! Good breakfast, amazing staff.
Stayed in an expensive Deluxe ocean view room for 4 days, w after attending my daughter’s wedding in koh Samui. There were 30 of us. The room: views were amazing and the room and bathroom were large. AC was adequate and the room was clean and quiet. However, it’s a bit dated, there’s no where to hang long clothes( like dresses), the bathroom doesn’t have glass windows but wicker, so subject to mosquitoes and horrendously hot as no AC. No dressing table and drinking water is charged ( where most hotels water is complimentary.) The standard rooms also had great views but were very small with poor hanging space. Hotel: Friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast but it is in the beach restaurant which means walking on the beach. Ok unless it’s raining! Very hilly. So not suitable for young children or any mobility issues. Pool is pleasant with nice swim up bar and happy hour. Small, but clean beach, with good snorkelling, free equipment and kayaking. The hotel is a bit remote unless you hire a moped. ( it’s hilly and lots of pot holes so beware) They do provide a courtesy bus twice a day to the town and taxis are freely available. My biggest issue is the hotel had a 60 person wedding taking place whilst we were there. We were kept OFF the entire beach during the wedding and cleared out of breakfast early so they could set up. We were not told when booking that this event was taking place which may have affected our decision to book. The night before the wedding we received a note telling us the restaurant would be closed the next dat but no mention of our ability to use the beach. Given this is an expensive remote beach hotel the lack of information and access to the beach was utterly unacceptable! The noise from the wedding went well into the night and could still hear the disco at 1am. Again, no notification of this was given and it seems unreasonable for a hotel with other guests to disrespect the guests in this way. Seems to me the hotel wanted to have their cake and eat it! Overall, I would not recommend this hotel.
Absolutely loved it here! This was the relaxing R&R we needed after travelling for two weeks. The rooms are exquisite, the staff are lovely and the restaurant is great!!! If you are coming to Thailand this is a must! The snorkelling is so great! We will be back
!!!!!!Watch OUT!!! I have canceled my booking almost 2 months ago, I should have gotten a full refund as it was stated in the conditions of the reservation, still didnt get my money back till this day - 1500 dollars!!!! Never ever experienced a refund taking 2 months!
This place is incredible. I can’t even explain how kind and helpful the staff are. Me and my partner , being very indecisive changed our booking several times during the busiest period of the year and the staff had soo much patience despite probably wanting to kick us out 🤣. Amazing food, great location, it has all the western amenities however it’s literally carved into a rock on a tiny island. Truly amazing.
Loved this place. Old, but it has its charme. looks like they are renovating a little. breakfast buffet was outdated, could be better. yoga class was amazing! in total I can recommend and would come back.
Lovely resort hotel, beautiful setting, great lodges with all facilities, helpful staff and a convenient shuttle service to and from the main town and pier. Free yoga and other facilities, plus an excellent spa. A fantastic place to stay, but not recommended for anyone with mobility issues - lots of steps everywhere. I don’t think the restaurant was brilliant, though it was fine, so we ate out most of the time. Still a great destination.
We had 3 nights at the resort as part of a touring package, and we were excited to be staying having looked at reviews, the website and Instagram. Rarely have we been as disappointed by the reality. We got off to a bad start as despite booking the free hotel transfer beforehand, when we arrived by ferry, no one was there to collect us. Phone calls to the hotel went unanswered and after a long day travelling, we jumped into a taxi rather than wait longer. On arrival we were left at the bottom of steep steps with our bags, which we lugged up to reception. When we queried why we hadn’t been collected, we were asked if we had rung, and when we said we had, they said the phones weren’t working. I knew the resort was built into the hills so expected a lot of climbing, but even so, the amount of steep concrete steps was still a surprise. We had booked a beachfront junior suite. The photos on the website do show how it’s made from concrete, but it doesn’t show how shabby and tired the room is. It really wasn’t comfortable, the towels were worn and frayed, and the wet room was fairly horrid, with a stink from the drains. However we decided to try and give it the benefit of the doubt and hoped the environment and beach would outweigh the issues with the room. To avoid the climb back up the steps, you can walk along the “golden” beach to the one restaurant. As beach lovers and avid snorkelers, we were excited by the rave reviews about the clear water and instant access to the beach from the room. The beach is a lot smaller than certain photos and videos make out. It’s mainly shale with a lot of washed up dead coral, and the beach doesn’t get cleaned at all. One end of the beach is very rocky and you have to traverse the rocks to go to and from the restaurant. Then climb up more huge steps into the restaurant. There’s old wooden posts and concrete left at the side of the steps which make it look shabby. There are sun beds you can carry down to the beach, but these are old and heavy and no staff to help you at all. We went into the sea for a swim and were immediately surprised how murky the water was. There is information in the room that there are times when jellyfish larvae are present in the water which can sting (sometimes wrongly called sea lice) and we have experience that before in Thailand, but after 5 minutes, it became unbearable and we came back in. Also the sea was full of algae, and even when we swam far out, visibility was poor. There are some fish further out on the small reef, but certainly not the amazing snorkelling the hotel publishes. The other side of the headland was described as being better for snorkelling, but every day we were there, the sea was full of rubbish and scum and was very unappealing. We also found no information about towels for the beach / pool, by chance we climbed up to the pool and saw a bag of towels there. The pool area is again very basic and tired, despite I believe a recent overhaul. The shower and toilets were pretty much broken and poorly maintained. However the two guys working at the bar, were the best we had at this hotel, they were helpful and Happy Hour cocktails were very well made. We arrived to find the restaurant was closed on the first night for a bbq evening. Due to it being late, we decided to pay for the bbq as we didn’t want to go back out. At 1400 B each we thought it would be good quality. The sushi was lovely, it was fresh and well made, but the bbq was cooked and placed into large servers on the buffet, and the choice was very basic. Not value for money at all. The entertainment by means of the fire dancers was however one of the best of that type we’ve seen. We hoped the next day would find us feeling happier about our stay, I can be fussy but even my husband wasn’t loving where we were. The down side of walking to and from our room via the beach is that there are no facilities to wash your feet prior to entering your room, so sand ends up everywhere all over the concrete floor. We also found the light outside our room didn’t work, and the internal phone for reception and room service etc was dead. You had to Whattsapp reception and of course this meant message could go unanswered for some time. We decided to sleep on it and see how we felt the next day. The bed was comfortable, although one side was blocked by a rock which made getting in and out tricky! Breakfast the next morning didn’t see us change our views. Staff were disinterested, slow service to clear plates, and the offerings were very limited. A lot of local food, which wasn’t a problem, but it was cold and unappetising. Things ran out and weren’t replaced. The only good point was the egg station. There was no coffee machine on that morning, so filtered coffee was the only option. I’m amazed how many people seem to rave about the hotel. It presents itself as an eco, high end experience, our opinion was that it was very basic and the hotel is tired and in need of a lot of updating. When our issues were raised with the hotel, they did offer us an upgraded room for night 2, but it was further up the steep hill and at that point, we didn’t see the point in moving. We changed our ferry crossing to leave earlier. I did attend an excellent yoga class, and we both joined in the ice bath experience, which was also very well run. Sadly this did not live up to its portrayal on social media and reviews.
Great stay but you need to be a mountain goat to deal with all the steps
The resort is on a stunning tip of the island and the snorkeling is fantastic. This is our main reason for the hotel. The breakfast was good and provided different foods for all tastes. We enjoyed cocktails and the shuttle was handy for any trips to the town. Our room was a little tired and for instance our bedside tables had no sockets near them so unusable. Bed was really comfortable. View from our room was beautiful. Room was very dark and hot. We borrowed a fan as I don't like Aircon when I'm sleeping. All the staff were so helpful and always immediately responsive to any questions. A really relaxing 6 days . The gym looked fab with a view and new equipment in it. Didn't do any classes. Overall a fantastic relaxing resort. Snorkeling off the beach and on the back area of the resort makes this a special resort. Room was beachfront so everything within walking distance. Food was good. We enjoyed. We also enjoyed the adjacent restaurant in the coral view resort.
Keine Empfehlung!
Property next to beach which is little far from central of Koh Tao, limited free transport available, the conditions of the hotel and breakfast is average
Very comfortable luxury rooms. Good restaurant and spa. Location in Kok Tao one of the best. A few options for snorkeling. Very clean water.
Nice quiet area and kind staff. Cleanliness of sheets and pillows after a few days could have been better (e.g, noticing stains and replacing pillow covers). Constant power outages which were annoying since A/C would stop working. We returned one night to find the A/C and lights not working. Got solved in the end but very hot whilst waiting and just inconvenient.
Excellent spot for relaxing and recharging. Needed a relaxing spot to snorkel and spend time with family and Sae Daeng was perfect for that.
The hotel and rooms were amazing. The breakfast and the quality of the food was not very good. It needs a full revamp of the restaurant as its old, dated and the food could be so much better. After dining the first night were it took 45 mins to get our food, we didn’t eat there again, as we went elsewhere where the food was much better. The hotel itself is beautiful and the views were amazing!!
Ligger afsides for at få fuld valuta fra eminent from hotel snorkling!!!
The setting is amazing, the resort is tasteful and elegant, with little individual houses spread on the side of a hill overlooking the sea. It's green and respectful of the environment, not like these massive resorts you can sometimes see.
Nice place for vacation
Booked a garden view room, very neat inside with super comfortable bed, mini bar fridge and kettle. Plenty of stairs around the resort which can be a challenge if you have mobility issues but there is no other option for the hotel plus you get plenty of exercise which is good as the resort restaurant serves delicious meals at very reasonable prices. There is also a mini mart where you can buy essentials. You do not even have to leave the resort as the snorkeling is right of the beach which is not too busy. One of the best places we have stayed.
This place is slightly out of the way, meaning it is incredibly quiet and peaceful. Some of the best snorkeling on the island having done many tours. A shuttle bus runs all through the day to bring you into and back from town to make up for the distance away from town. I would highly reccomend this place if staying in Koh Tao.
incredible location
The property is really nice - you are steps away from the beach where you can snorkel and sun tan. We loved our room - however I think it's worth noting that the property is really steep with lots of steps so I'd only recommend this place if you are mobile and fit enough to hike the steps. I also think it's worth noting that getting transportation to town is very expensive so i'd only recommend this property if you a) mostly want to stay at the property your entire stay or b) are comfortable and able to ride a scooter. My partner and I tried to get scooters but the hill to the resort is very steep which left me really anxious. This resulted in us staying at the property our entire stay as the lookouts and number of other sites we wanted to see, were hard to get to, without a scooter. The restaurant food and drinks were fantastic too!
If you want to relax at a peaceful resort in a beautiful area i would recommend...Have a relaxing drink at the infinity poolside bar, snorkel, enjoy food at beachsde restaurant it all here if you want to chill....
Overall okay, location and views really nice. We stayed 3 nights and had a Deluxe ocean view room which was okay, balcony wir beautiful view, but no sun umbrella or similar. Breakfast buffet good, but Nescafe only so nothing if you like good coffee. Dinner was a bit disappointing so we went other restaurants. Sandy beach, sea grass and plankton blooming, so not good conditions for snorkeling. Pool was closed due to problems with the pool water cleaning system, however Staff friendly and helpful
Personale gentile. Ribadisco però che mare e spiaggia perdonano qualunque mancanza...
Liked walk to two bays with coral reef; didn’t like internet unreliable and not available several hours; electricity seemed a bit unstable with several power outages and ‘hard’ return of electricity
Beautiful and secluded spot. The property itself was lovely but the location is absolutely spectacular. Very nice restaurant and bar on site.
This place is quiet and have a beautiful view but it is not for senior or the faint of heart. To get to the hotel, there are steep roads. At the hotel, there are lots of up and down walkway to get to your room. And lots of stairs. The whole island is great for snorkeling or diving but the beaches are mostly corals. You need a water shoe to go to the beach. This hotel is in a remote area so you need to take taxi to go into town. So be ready to pay. They might still be in pandemic mode because there was no staff at the pool and the front desk only open from 8am to 8pm. They do have emergency number to call if you need anything outside these hours.
Location is stunning. The sunrise in the morning is amazing.....its just the upkeep and management of the hotel desperately needs to improve. If you're trying to offer luxury then service and details really matter!!!
Amazing!! Loved the room, views, staff and amenities. Was quite scary driving up to the resort (do not recommend going at night lol). But so worth it! Defs recommend
The staff and my room were perfect. The whole place is a building site. Everywhere you look halfway completed building and facilities falling apart. Stairway everywhere with no lighting. The morning breakfast in the morning is disgusting.
Lovely situation, good snorkeling, easy access to the sea, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast OK, limited restaurant menu, many items fried in batter, good selection of well priced cocktails, very comfortable king beds in Delux Beach Front rooms. Resort suffering like most because of the affects of Covid on reduced occupancy for a long period, therefore tired looking. Resort not for anyone with poor mobility as there are lots of steps commensurate with the beauty and ruggedness of the location.
A nice resort if - big if - you have some sort of transportation. Otherwise, far from shops, bars, restaurants. Nice people at the reception, very helpful.
V nice
Completely stunning located at a peninsula built in with true respect for the nature and the old exotic threes and flowers. Excellent maintained with top notch service. Great food and service in the restaurant close to the sea. Great value for money and highly recommended. A definite return rate for any guests who are here for the first stay. A tranquil place with the complete capacity for recharging your mind and you are guaranteed checking out with a cleaned mind. One of the worlds greatest places for humans to clean their minds. A go go place.
Magical. Incredible.
If you love snorkeling, you MUST stay here. Sai Daeng occupies a peninsula that has what may be the best reefs in Koh Tao. This is where the dive and snorkeling boats come, but YOU can stay here. The rooms are comfortable and the views are amazing. The included breakfast is excellent. After breakfast, just head for the water (on either side of the peninsula) and enjoy the fish, turtles, rays, coral, and all sorts of interesting sea creatures. The water on the north side was always clear, the water on the south side can get a little cloudy when the wind comes up. This beats "off the beach" snorkeling I've done anywhere else in Thailand, Hawaii, Florida, Bali, etc. So much easier not to have to take a boat somewhere. The food at the resort is excellent, but it's Thai food (which I love, but I'm just saying....). The staff is friendly and helpful. The place is remote from the town. If you're not on a motorbike you will be dependent on the shuttle and taxis. I found no need to leave the resort at all during the 8 days I spent there (I extended twice, I couldn't leave). This was certainly the best snorkeling experience of my life. If you love to snorkel, whatever you need to do, spend a week at Sai Daeng. You won't be sorry. One warning. The peninsula is on a hill. You WILL need to be climbing steps. If you have problems walking, you'll have to skip this. I'm 74. It wasn't a problem for me, just good exercise. But it might be difficult for some.
My stay was very lovely and I feel like property management runs nicely for traveler since the condition and staff are sufficient and they are helpful. The view is breathtaking and relaxing. The location is suitable for family retreat type because the property is located quite far from night and food markets, but you can do fun activities at one stop like snorkeling and kayaking around beaches and bays. For solo traveler, it is better for you to rent a motorbike from the pier or around busy area, it’s good for you to travel back and forth to enjoy beaches to bays or bays to hill views. Lovely!
