Deangate Motel

Super friendly helpful staff. Very accommodating. The staff managed to get my room sorted after a fully booked Friday for an early check in on Saturday despite me requesting it late. Good location in town for a reasonable price. Would definitely come back when I’m in the area. 5*

Location and friendly staff

Not very clean, very basic cleans

Beds were so comfortable

Easy booking, convenient from local wedding venue & v efficient key exchange.

Bed mattress has seen better days!

I had no real intentions of staying here due to my partners stigma of a "Motel" well that was unfounded as it was bigger than every hotel that I have stayed in at this price point and bigger than most at the next price points! It was clean, well equipped, heated, and comfortable. Couldn't have asked for more.

The name "Motel" haha

Location to relatives

Bathroom had a “smell”

Nice clean spacious room. Lovely ensuite. Tea coffee etc provided. Complimentary shower gel & shampoo. Quiet location. There was a fan in the room. Great for visiting family nearby. Breakfast cearls and toast availble for extra cost or plenty of cafes in Lydney for a cooked breakfast.

Nothing really. A cooked breakfast would have been nice but it wasn't a problem to walk to a cafe.

Free on-site parking

Everything was as described ,nice and chilled, tea and coffee in the room, not far to go into a lovely park with a lake ,tesco less than 5 min walk away

Nothing really all what I was expecting, perfect

Large room, plenty of space for family, w parking

Did get quite warm but the fan helped

Nice, spacious, clean and cozy. Also great location

Frequently stay here and is our first choice when we need to be in the area to visit family. Rooms are large and beds are comfortable.

The room was so hot, not their fault as we were mid heatwave and they had provided 2 fans, but it was stifling, we had to open the door to try and get some air through. Unfortunately the shower room was like an oven and the extractor ineffective and it had a bit of a smell.

Nicely appointed large room, excellent shower, very friendly hosts, fans available for the hot weather, good value breakfast served in the room, large free car park within walking distance of the town centre

Our mattress could have been firmer but that's a personal preference

Perfect location, central to absolutely everything, staff were fantastic and the room was perfect for a family with two young children. We will definitely be booking here again in the future!

Very friendly on arrival.. The room was spacious and clean... Comfortable... Would return on our next trip...

Nothing not to like

Parking and location and large wet room

Staff

Enjoyed stay

Room was clean, bed was comfortable. good value for money

we weren't there long enough

Really convenient, good cleanliness and comfort for the price

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Deangade Motel. The room was clean and tidy, with fresh bed linen and towels provided. The bathroom was also clean, and the shower was impressively spacious — a nice touch.

The bedside table had some dust on it, and there were a few cobwebs on the walls and window in the room — nothing major, but worth noting. The main downside of my stay was the lack of air conditioning and a fan in the room. It was an extremely hot night during my visit, which made sleeping quite uncomfortable without any way to cool down. One more suggestion — it would be really great if the reception area had a water dispenser, so guests could help themselves to a cold drink, especially on warm days. A small addition that would make a big difference!

Nice to have your front door to open on to the outside.

Very hot. Couldn't be helped , it was a heatwave! There was a fan thankfully, not much the hotel could do really in the extreme heat!

Receptionist helped find other accommodation

We were turned away. After requesting a dog friendly room, and presuming it was booked, we were told there weren't any. The hotel has asked if we would come later in the day as they had a late checkout but it seemed they were unable to check if we had a dog. Please be aware this hotel is not dog friendly but allows dogs in its rooms opening out into the carpark. The contact was good when they needed our room for someone else. So tired and stressed from this whole experience

Large room with big bed and big bathroom

Lovely room, parking right outside room

Nothing

Spacious and great location, staff go above and beyond and great communication

On arrival at the motel, parking was easy, staff were friendly and helpful. The room was ready and welcoming. We were within walking distance from our visiting destination. The sun was shining and the birds were singing.

The location was good for the wedding reception we were going to

Was slightly dirty .Things mirror hadnt been cleaned. Shower trap dirty. The matteresses were very old and lumpy.

Stayed b4. All you need nice and clean and close to just about everything. You do need a car to visit nice pups on the outskirts of Lydney

Very quiet position 90%

We had a shared bathroom room so the price was excellent. Friends at the same event were camping and compared to that this was far better. Place is modern and well maintained.

Obviously sharing a bathroom with 6 people all getting ready for the same event is a challenge, otherwise it wouldn’t have been a problem. Separating the shower from the WC/wash basin would have helped. This is a minor point in the context of the price and would definitely book again.

Location was perfect for walking to parkrun

We got upgraded on both rooms. One room was especially nice.

There could be an electrical outlet nearer the bed.

Clean. Warm. Spacious. Everything worked!

Nothing.

Clean, comfortable and quiet. Free upgrade to larger room.

Ensuite light flickering, towel warmer not working.

V poor customer service , location is good if you like being in a car park next to a police station

My go to hotel for the Forest of Dean and surroundings. Excellent location. Free parking. Easy check in remotely with keys left in envelope for guests on arrival.

We had a shared bathroom in the main building, which wasn’t ideal. I’d have preferred one in the room. But this was the last room left for my dates.

lovely spacious rooms, clean and tidy

Large room, easy access

Couldn’t get the heating to full blast

Perfect location for our trip away. Everything we needed.

We had a twin room. 1 mattress was comfier than the other. But it didn't matter as we were only there for 1 night.

Schnell zu finden. Gute Größe des Zimmers.

Position was perfect

Nothing

Very clean, comfortable bed, ease of check in.

Shared bathroom, however I was aware of that when booking and it was perfectly fine for my needs.

Convenient location for Town Hall event Super comfy, bed. Plenty of room in the room and value for money

Personnel sympathique.

Rien à redire.

Nothing

Noisy, window facing carpark Loud people, swearing and smoking outside until late in the night Small bed, poor coil mattress Bright light outside stayed up all night Pugent odour in the room I left after 1st night, they refused to refund 2nd night!

Location good for access to The Forest, main road and railway station nearby for easy access to north and south. Spacious car park. Handy on edge of Lydney shopping area.

It was fine.

Front desk staff were, friendly and helpful

Nothing,

We didn’t have breakfast but staff were so friendly and helpful

Nothing we didn’t 👍

Location

Such a lovely place, in a fantastic location. The staff were so lovely nothing was to much trouble. We had everything we needed in the room. Nice and clean had a nice comfy bed shower was nice and hot easy heating was easy to use. There was nothing not to like. It was my 50th birthday while we was there and they brought me a card and lovely flowers 💐 which was so kind of them. We stayed in a dog room as we had two small dogs. Definitely coming back.

Nothing at all

The room was big and clean

Just how far of a walk to the other side of town it was and the fact it didn't have a microwave for people with babies

In good location for centre of Lydney

Nice big room nice sized shower

Room is large and very clean. The bed is comfy and has good linens. Tea and coffee making facilities are very welcome.

As this is a motel with no facilities (and I know that is what I booked) but a microwave in reception for clients use would be a great addition.

Very friendly staff, room was really clean and fresh. Only a few minutes walk to the town centre.

Nothing at all

I think Deangate is absolutely brilliant. Nice big and clean room. And the bed is very comfortable 😃

It’s very easy to get to. And you can park for free right outside your room. And the bathroom is nice and big too. ✅👍

Comfortable, spacious, clean and easy. Staff were very accommodating of early check in.

Nothing, I’d stay again whenever I come past

Rooms are warm and beds are comfortable . Easy to park outside. Plenty of tea coffee etc supplied

Even though rooms are dog friendly maximum of two , when we come down we always have to bring more so unfortunately some had to sleep in the van which they aren’t used to and I was worrying all night about them . Some of them apparently were barking at 2am which I didn’t hear but some of my friends in other rooms did . I wouldn’t want this as it not only wakes up other residents but also causes stress to the dogs . My dogs are well behaved show dogs so if there is anyway we can pay more to have them in the room with us it would be very much appreciated as we are hoping to attend this show every year.

Near to were we needed to be and town centre

Quiet location. The room is was spotless and we had everything we needed. We will be back.
