Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Nice clean room, well equipped. Good shower , plenty of hot water. Nice touch to find bottles of water and biscuits in the room each day.
No dislikes
Friendly staff. Rooms and facilities were clean and well maintained.
Breakfast was disappointing. Luke warm. Toast kept getting stuck in the toaster.
Lovely hotel and location is ideal
The showers, hit and miss getting the temperature right
Clean and friendly staff
Nothing
It was central to walk places and it had a lovely bath And the staff was very friendly
There wasn’t really anything except the breakfast wasn’t the best value for money but just ok
Good position for easy access to all parts of Felixstowe. Pleasant surroundings.
Right outside my window was I think a large air conditioning chimney which noisily droned away all day and night thus couldn’t have the window open particularly at night. No fridge in room
Staff very friendly and attentive Breakfast was excellent value for money
A minor issue one of the bedroom windows the double glazing had failed but everything else was good
We always come to your hotel when visiting my family. We've always had a lovely stay.
Location was good nice room and hotel had a bar and restaurant
Lovely comfortable beds. Staff all very friendly and helpful
Location and comfortable room, nice ambience in general reception area
The shower in bathroom was inefficient and needs replacement.
Staff, restaurant and ambience
Some would call the hotel old world, others might (unfairly imo) call it dated
Location.
So many things not working still. Nobody to make a hot drink in the evening. Incredibly dated rooms.
Room was fair for t5he money, breakfast was OK, breakfast was not always warm enough and the seating area was too small, and the bar had to be utilised on several occasions, as the amount of rooms was greater than the seating area. The commonareas are being upgraded, but overall the accommodation for the price was good.
every think went well and I enjoyed my time there very quite location and very easy to find great transport connections right on the door step which is very unusual for me to find a hotel like that again but you never know what happens next time
Loved the location and such a lovely hotel. The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us, even offering us a complimentary breakfast as we were there celebrating our wedding anniversary, we had a great stay! The bed was super comfortable too x
The room was a little dated but that also added character to the hotel.

Excellent location and friendly staff
As I have mobility issues the staff kindly gave us a room very near the lift, the room was fantastic, very spacious, and had lots of seating
If the bed was just a bit bigger I would have given 10, it was very comfy though
Staff brilliant always a lovely stay
Nothing not to like
location and staff all good.and food
glass cracked in windows and shash broken
Had two suites, both were excellent. very spacious with room for a sociable gathering around the table. Very comfortable beds. Good furniture and plenty of brew kit.
Didn't experience anything negative.
Frequently stay here, love the property and reception hall for the decor and history!!!
One of the bed bottoms squeaked in the night when my husband moved but didn’t stop from sleeping.
Free parking Location is perfect. Nice rooms with friendly staff and service.
Pillows, one not enough but 2 is too much... Not full enough. Cooked eggs at breakfast are like rubber, need to be fried on hot plate. Hash browns are bland. The bar can be cold during breakfast. Not a lot of room for the amount of people who want breakfast at the same time.
Clean and tidy, friendly staff good location and free parking.Plenty of eating places and shops just a few minutes away.sea front just a short walk away.
Clean rooms and comfy beds. We have stayed here lots of times and hopefully lots more.
Spaces beds comfy staff was outstanding 👌
The bath and shower it had brand new taps but bath was rusty the shower was just dripping the ceiling had massive marks on it carpet was perfect brand new the furniture was different to the 1 I booked it was tatty and rusted the cables was uncovered to telephone line which is dangerous
Style & position
Quality of bathroom
A beautiful hotel so close to the beach and shops.
Staff helpful and pleasant Location of the hotel Bar run well
Room was very warm. Bit cramped for space Shower tap system old fashioned
Lovely place to stay
Nothing not to like about the Orwell Hotel
Brilliant location. Rooms are big and comfortable. Impressed with the changes being made.
Nothing
It was central clean, parking on site lift and nice food
The bed was not comfortable I asked for room on 1st floor and was told there were no rooms on 1st floor but a lift as I have mobility problems so I was given a room with 2 steep steps down to the bathroom
A beautiful building, very well maintained. Plenty of parking, Rooms v comfortable.
breakfast was good.
Bathroom out dated, it was too warm in the room
Downstairs interior decor - liked the heritage aspects
The room was clean but furniture tired. Window didn't shut properly and the curtains were very frayed. There was only one wall socket for charging up two phones and an iPad. The staff at breakfast were inattentive - plates not cleared, food not restocked. The breakfast itself was adequate but nothing special.
Very central and very reasonably priced
Beautiful building. , close to my works and town.
Only downside was the shower in my room was very poor
Great hotel, close to seafront bars and shops. Nice buffet breakfast, good bar to relax in and food from the restaurant in the evening is very good.
Location good
Booked twin room but given a double! Very tired and needs a lot of tic.
Bathroom window in room 103 needs fixing. Matress very soft needs changing
The hotel was beautifully.could not fault it.And the weekend we stayed they put on a Sunday with entertainment which was fantastic. We both enjoyed our stay immensely and definitely be coming again.
There was nothing to not like
Lovely old hotel but many features retained. Great newly refurbished bathrooms really lovely.
Our roof overlooked the air conditioning units very noisy and horrible outlook
We loved all the original deco and the rooms were light and airy . Breakfast plentiful.
The chairs in the breakfast room could do with a little padding in them
Man on reception was very professional and helpful;
Rooms dated
The orwell is a beautiful hotel the rooms could do with an upgrade apart from that excellent
Room and bathroom need an upgrade
Friendly staff very clean great location
Opposite rail station also bus stops right near the hotel. The grounds looked lovely. Staff friendly easy to check in.Lovely breakfast. Room and bath room clean. The hotel all round was good.
Good location and friendly staff.
Checking out at 10am-should be 11am as it was a while ago.
I was able to take it up to my room for my disabled daughter.
It was expensive. The tray i had to use was too small to get a full breakfast on to take to the room so was unable to take full advantage of the food on offer.
Very comfortable hotel with friendly staff. Conveniently positioned for bus and rail. Shops nearby and short walk to the seafront. The water pressure was not the best, but the room, although a little dated was comfortable.
Our room unfortunately faced onto the main street so did have a bit of traffic noise.
Lovely period property, great location, reasonable amount of car parking. Comfy with very helpful staff, Rob was especially helpful on this occasion.
Car parking can get tight when busy or an event is being held.
Location was great, nice old style building , old furniture that should last forever too. fab curry thanks chef
Ha, bath panel let room room down need edges painting ,
The staff were helpful and friendly
Breakfast ample but mediocre
All good

Lovely hotel, friendly reception staff on arrival. Big rooms, comfy beds, competitive prices, location is spot on & free parking. Menu looked great but yet to eat there since new management.
Nothing
Rooms are a little dated and could do with decorating, disappointed that the additional small bed for a child was put in the smaller room we booked
We had a family room(for four friends).. the room was a lot bigger than I imagined so it was fine for a one night stay..a double bed and two singles. The room had everything we needed, beds were comfy.. bathroom was a bit dated, but can't complain at the bargain price we paid each for bed and breakfast. Perfect location to walk into town and the beach. We did arrive 20 minutes before check in time and told, no we had to wait until 3pm... without even looking to see if the rooms were ready.. Wasn't a huge problem, we parked the cars and returned later. They also let us leave the cars the next day after check out. Breakfast was good. Amazing price for bed and breakfast... well be back.
We liked it all.
Great location and parking at the hotel lovely short break
Am a regular and love the faded grandeur of the place. Has a lovely bar.
Nothing.
Location was great for train and shop access
Decor was very tired, can be doing with a fresh modern look
The hotel is a lovely building.
Still being renovated which has been ongoing for the past 2 years.
Bed were comfy
Not really maintained, clean
Our twin room(104) was spacious with a nice bathroom. We have stayed at the Orwell several times, and it is gradually being done up.The lounge has lovely new furniture....very smart!Breakfast was a bit of a muddle. It is no longer in the dining room,it is in the bar area. There didn't seem to be enough seating as it was very busy.Felix is a good addition in the garden,I really liked him!!
Great location, beautiful wood work inside and very characteristic of English history.
Breakfast- could have better choices
Restaurant too small had to eat in bar disabled husband and myself can’t walk well so needed to get help and back n forth for tea n toast after getting help with cooked breakfast which was cold by the time I sat down to eat it !

Hotel was great
Bathroom needs some attention

2nd time at the Orwell hotel, pleasant stay handy for shops and sea front. Staff very welcoming, food was good breakfast had plenty of options. Parking good on site.
Nothing would recommend it.
We love it here. The building is lovely, and the updated bits are beautiful. Rob is an absolute ⭐ star!

The Orwell Hotel is a stunning building and the rooms are very good for money with the bonus of parking
There were some strange people in the bar which put us off drinking in there but it did not spoil our stay.
The hotel is always lovely and clean.Lovely staff.Brilliant food.Very good atmosphere. The rooms are lovely. In a good location just across the road from the train station.
The staff were polite and very helpful when we checked in and when we asked about parking, plus there is parking available. The location is fabulous, central to the town and beach. Room was comfortable and clean.
Bedroom very dated and dusty. Bed uncomfortable. Pillows lumpy and old. Bathroom old and definitely needs updating.staff all looked miserable. Stay was just about ok for 2 nights but wouldnt want to come back unless improved.
Position in Felixstowe. Parking. Size of rooms.
Asked for early check in and happy to pay. Couldn't accommodate this and pretty abruptly told at reception. Check out advertised as 11am but was, in fact, 10am. I would have been happy to pay more per night for improvements. Such potential and so nearly there.
Really enjoyed my 2 nights at the Orwell, great location for the train station, shops, restaurants and about a 20 minute walk past the shops to the beach. Having stayed once before and read the recent reviews I requested a fan in my room. Unsure if they are already provided? I booked a superior double, which was only a few pounds more than a standard double and it was a brilliant choice. I loved my room, it was spacious and obviously fairly recently renovated. It was on the corner of the hotel, so had 2 different views. My windows opened (which I know lots of hotels dont). Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and bottled water was provided. Toiletries... rather small, fir someone who showers at least twice a day but they did smell beautiful. My room was clean as were the areas of the hotel I passed through. I didn't eat here this time, so can't comment on the food.
Perhaps the toiletries could have been slightly more generous in size/quantities as they weren't replenished for my second night. However, I bought some shower gel whilst out. Really the only thing I can say that was slightly negative.
Room was spotlessly clean. Bed comfortable. Free parking on site. Staff friendly.
Breakfast was ok but only instant coffee available..Hard fried eggs. We sat in the bar area and the table was so sticky that the crockery actually stuck to the table. We didnt have breakfast there the second day.
Good location and very pleasant staff

Very friendly staff, clean rooms , lovely breakfast & evening meal
The location is near my families so able to be independent yet close to visit them. It's wonderful building, helpful staff and clean comfortable rooms.
No faults at all
The hotel was lovely, our bedroom was very nice .
The mattress was too soft.
Grandeur from days gone by. Realy pretty interior in the old part of the hotel.
Rooms will be very hot in summer. The very silent ventilator was an absolute necessity.
Location, friendly staff, nice rooms
Tv reception was abysmal
