De locatie is top! Ruime kamer, goede douche.

In het restaurant was niet alles voorradig, deel vd kaart was niet verkrijgbaar. De toiletbril was defect, deze is na melding aan de receptie vervangen. De zeep in de douche was op, volgende dag de kamer laten schoonmaken, het lege flesje zichtbaar in de badkamer gezet, helaas, deze werdt niet aangevuld. De lege cups van het koffie apparaat waren niet verwijdert, hierdoor werkte het koffie apparaat eerst niet, ik moest uitvinden wat hier de oorzaak van was. Ontbijt was prima, en het personeel ook vriendelijk en behulpzaam!

Very convenient; very dog-friendly. I was checked in to a room that made life very easy to get the dog out for a walk etc. Room was comfortable and the restaurant served excellent food and was, again, completely dog-friendly.

Rather confused about the variation in price. I suspect I may have got an exceptionally cheap rate on the way up (Bank Holiday Monday on the 31st August) but when I tried to book a return stay for the trip home, it was 2.5 times the price! But then, a few days later, I did an internet search for hotels in the area and HuntingTower came up again, but this time only £70 more than the first night. That's still a bit of a hike but it was very convenient so I averaged out the two stays and it wasn't so bad.

The hotel is very tiered, the staff (not all) I found the restaurant staff to be a bit scruffy looking, ripped clothes, the hotel was not busy however the kitchen was unable to provide some items from the menu stating it was sold out.

Very spacious bedrooms & very easy to get to being on the ground floor. Lovely grounds. Lovely panelled dining roon & stair case. Staff were super- friendly and accommodating. Mum at 89 was given an extra half hour for checkout. Really liked the complimentary water and lemon juice dispensers in the reception area. Tasty breakfast but I'd love to have freshly squeezed orange juice.

An interesting stay. The room was tiny and the bed was clearly designed for two people who either don’t move in their sleep or don’t particularly like each other. Turning over required planning permission. The toilet seat was another highlight. It slid sideways when you sat down and repeatedly attempted to nip your backside. Not something I’ve previously considered a hotel amenity, but certainly memorable. Tea-making facilities were also something of a concept rather than a reality. We had to ask reception twice for tea bags, milk and sugar. The maid had clearly visited the room at some stage because two cups had been turned upside down with spoons arranged neatly on top. Very artistic. Unfortunately, the beds remained unmade, the towels weren’t replaced and the room wasn’t straightened. Still, the cups looked lovely. Dinner was actually tasty, although the steak was so small it looked more like a beef cheek with ambition. I genuinely thought there might be more coming. Overall, the hotel appears to specialise in minimalism. Minimal room. Minimal bed. Minimal steak. Minimal housekeeping. Maximum risk to your backside when using the toilet. A unique experience, in every sense.

A dreadful smell in the corridor outside our room, outdated facilities, no lift and no staff to carry our luggage, staff who were sometimes friendly but lacked training… in short, absolutely not a 4-star hotel as stated on the website. Fortunately, we only stayed there for one night.

Noisy birthday party celebration in the events suite on the Friday evening of our 4 night stay.Participants created serious noise disturbance until 11:30pm which only ceased after multiple complaints to the management by several guests.Carpets in the hotel look very worn and the exterior of the hotel requires serious attention especially the paintwork. The bathroom floor tiles in my room (412) were loose and require fixing/changing

Ich liebe diese "old-style" und geschichtsträchtigen schottischen Hotels. Die grossen Räume und das warme Interieur gefällt mir sehr und ich fühlte mich sofort entspannt und behaglich.

Im Großen und Ganzen hat es uns wirklich gut gefallen. Typisch schottisches Landhotel mit parkähnlicher Gartenanlage, zahlreiche, kostenlose Parkplätze, großzügiges Zimmer.

Fehlender Wasserdruck, dadurch an einem Tag kein Duschen möglich. Zimmer hätte sauberer sein können (Spinnweben, Flecken).

On arrival we were greeted by the most delightful girl behind reception. Had an evening meal which was plentiful and came out piping hot and well presented and tasted as good as it looked with no long wait. all staff were a joy. Breakfast arrived quickly and again came out warm and plentiful.Yes hotel may be old and tired but a fantastic overall place to stay .Once again thanks for great service and a pleasant stay

Die Zimmer sind in Ordnung, wirken im Vergleich zu den öffentlichen Räumen jedoch eher schlicht und haben wenig historischen Charme.

Quiet and peaceful country house style hotel. Breakfast was ideal. The cooked breakfast arrived piping hot. The bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful, attentive and very polite. All in all we had a lovely stay.

The hotel itself is gorgeous, we couldn’t stop taking photos of both its exterior and interior. Both rooms were very clean and spacious. All the facilities within worked well and the mattresses were extremely comfortable. The double bed was incredibly large as well. The breakfast was a highlight, with lots of options on the hot breakfast menu that were freshly cooked and incredibly tasty. All the staff at the hotel were lovely too.

We were given a “suite” across the car park. It was very basic, dark and dingy. It certainly wasn’t what I expected from a “suite’. In dire need of refurbishment. The bathroom was awful - thank goodness for the warning stickers above the hot tap in the sink as the hot water was scalding and impossible to even wash your hands. How a hotel gets away with having hot water like that I don’t know. Our daughter was on a sofa bed which was uncomfortable and looked like she might fall through. The bed was comfortable. That’s about it’s only redeeming feature. I have never visited a hotel before that has Pot Noodle behind reception!

Lovely spacious room, clean and comfortable. Loved the little seating alcoves where you could chill and look out to the beautiful gardens and huge trees. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Although the evening meals we had were good it would have been a challenge to find something different for a 4th night. Breakfast was excellent.

I've travelled a lot with work and personal. This is the first hotel EVER EVER as soon as I turned on the tap instant HOT WATER! With a towel rail that was constantly hot. Quiet location for a good nights sleep and loved the brekkie

No hot water while we were there. Did receive a discount. I had to approach staff about the problem. Management should have been proactive rather than waiting for complaint. The food was alright but the restaurant staff could benefit from training. The service was slow and little details like serving the man before woman and not pouring the wine.

Dog friendly with good walks outside the door down to the river. Ample parking. Good breakfast. Nice old style family hotel. Shame all the surrounding area is being developed.

Staff were pleasant enough and the accommodation had good bones and potential.

The complete lack of maintenance made this stay very unpleasant. Examples include the bathroom floor having broken tiles - so much so they were loose and broken and lacking any grout. We told reception and they said they were aware of this yet still let out the room. They said it wouldn't be fixed for some time. We also had light bulbs missing from lamps, which we told reception, they said they replace these the next day - they didn't. The soap dispenser as broken and didn't work they did replace this, simply by getting another from another empty room. The wallpaper was coming off in areas and there had clearly been no painting touch ups for many years. The carpet is worn... I could go on.

Everything was lovely, the staff were so friendly and great with our dog. The grounds are really nice.

We had a very pleasant stay and I wanted to leave a review because some of the recent negative comments had made us slightly apprehensive before we arrived. We stayed in one of the ‘cottages’, which has clearly been refurbished relatively recently. The room was quite Spartan, but it was a good size, comfortable and perfectly clean. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen was exceptionally clean and fresh. We also found it very peaceful and slept well. Breakfast was good and the staff we encountered were polite, friendly and welcoming. There are areas where the hotel is perhaps a little tired and could benefit from some updating, but nothing that detracted from our stay. Overall, our experience was a positive one. Sometimes reviews can give a rather unbalanced impression when people are much more inclined to write about what went wrong than what went right. We were very happy with our stay and would certainly be comfortable staying here again.

Hotel was niet schoon, kamer redelijk schoon maar de hallen en restaurant mocht wel een keer een stofzuiger doorheen. Personeel stapt om grote stukjes papier heen, laat het dus liggen. Mooie tuin maar de sigarenpeuken op het gras laten ze gewoon liggen, asbakken op de tafels in de mooie tuin liggen vol en worden niet leeg gemaakt.

Unser Zimmer, insbesondere der Boden im Bad benötigt eine Sanierung. Das "Zustellbett" (Klappsofa) war unglaublich unkomfortabel! Geht leider gar nicht - schade.

Stayed here previously and liked the location, setting and staff. The room was large and had everything needed for a short (or longer) stay. The dining room and bar area had ambience. Staff were attentive and informal. Breakfast was plentiful.

Booking.com stated no extra charge for pets. This is misleading, as there is, in fact, a £15 standard charge. The exterior paintwork could perhaps be renewed, although the interior is coordinated and relaxing.

A completely unacceptable condition We stayed in room 207. We have stayed in many hotels of very different categories, but we have never experienced a room in such a worn-out and unpleasant condition. There was a noticeable smell of urine in the bathroom. The wall and floor coverings, grout, skirting boards, windows and furniture were severely outdated and in urgent need of renovation. This was not about a few minor imperfections – we could find practically nothing in the room that did not appear to have needed replacement or substantial refurbishment many years ago. The combination of the smell and the overall condition made us feel extremely uncomfortable and frankly disgusted. We would not stay in room 207 again, regardless of the price. We find it difficult to understand how a hotel chain can continue to offer guests a room in this condition. In our view, this shows a lack of respect for paying guests. We have never experienced anything like this and, based on our stay, cannot recommend this hotel.

Für uns ein völlig inakzeptabler Zustand Wir haben im Zimmer 207 übernachtet. Wir haben schon in sehr vielen Hotels unterschiedlichster Kategorien gewohnt, aber einen derart abgewohnten und unangenehmen Zustand haben wir noch nicht erlebt. Im Badezimmer herrschte deutlicher Uringeruch. Wand- und Bodenbeläge, Fugen, Sockelleisten, Fenster und Möbel waren massiv überaltert und dringend renovierungsbedürftig. Es ging nicht um einzelne Schönheitsfehler – wir konnten praktisch nichts im Zimmer entdecken, was nicht schon vor vielen Jahren hätte erneuert oder grundlegend aufgearbeitet werden müssen. Die Kombination aus Geruch und dem gesamten Zustand führte dazu, dass wir uns extrem unwohl und regelrecht angeekelt gefühlt haben. Wir würden in Zimmer 207 kein zweites Mal übernachten – unabhängig vom Preis. Dass eine Hotelkette ein Zimmer in einem solchen Zustand weiterhin Gästen anbietet, ist für uns nicht nachvollziehbar und zeugt nach unserem Empfinden von mangelndem Respekt gegenüber zahlenden Gästen. Wir haben so etwas noch nie erlebt und können dieses Hotel aufgrund unserer Erfahrung nicht empfehlen.

Both dinner and breakfast were very poor (overcooked and dry). The bathroom was very large but there are no shelves or worktop to set toilet bags on. The bungalow window hat a broken security catch on it.

Frühstück war sehr gut, das warme Frühstück konnte am Tisch bestellt werden. Es gab Crepes, pochiertes Ei mit Lachs, ein typisch schottisches Frühstück und ein wirklich gut bestücktes continentales Frühstück. Alle Mahlzeiten waren sehr großzügig bemessen. Nettes Personal. Zimmer ist wie auf den Fotos gezeigt. Wir waren am Abend dort auch zum Essen, Lamm, vorzüglich, sehr schön angerichtet und auch hier eine gute Portion.

Das Zimmer und der Garten: Unser Zimmer war nicht im Haupthaus (wäre vielleicht besser gewesen), sondern im Nebengebäude und der erste Eindruck war, es riecht im ersten Zimmer (Vorraum) muffig und stark nach nassem Hund, im Bad sehr stark nach Schimmelentferner. Ja, Hunde dürfen hier übernachten, aber es roch schon sehr. Schimmelentferner ist auch nötig gewesen. Im Garten liegen noch die Konfettitüten von einer Hochzeit (unsere Anreise war Mittwoch..), eine Brücke war mit weißem Tuch eingewickelt, da waren schon diverse Vogel... drauf und bei unserer Anreise ließ ein Gast seinen Hund direkt vor unserer Unterkunft einen Haufen machen, der lag dann bei unserer Abreise 2 Tage später immer noch dort. Ansonsten wäre dies ein wunderschöner Garten mit uralten Mammutbäumen.
