The location was amazing right in the centre of Hertford. The rooms were well furnished and a good size. We were staying overnight with friends who had just married in the local Registry Office and the front desk were great and brought us all a bottle of fizz to celebrate. - a really nice touch.

We only stayed for one night and we didn’t have any hot water when we returned to our room after a long day and evening out but assumed maybe we were not turning the taps the right way. In the morning still no hot water - so a freezing cold shower as we had to check out and head off to work early. We flagged it with the Front reception who said they would would investigate and contact us as we had to leave. No call, no contact. Not a great experience so I can’t recommend unfortunately. We also had a room at the back of the hotel and as soon as the kitchen started in the morning the generator created a huge amount of noise and smell. It was also a warm night and although there were two fans provided in the room in was incredibly hot and really difficult to sleep.

It’s a little tired in places and due a spruce up Some attention to detail would be great I asked for spinach to be added to my mushrooms on toast and they wouldn’t do it unless it was on the side which seemed a bit stingy, it wouldn’t have taken much to pop some spinach on the toast under the mushrooms . Also it’s in the middle of town so if you are a light sleeper I’d not recommend it

My only criticism is that the room was painted in brown and very dark purple this made it very dark Only 1 bedside lamp in a double room didn’t help and a metal desk - very user unfriendly

We were above a nightclub and music doesn't stop until 1am plus alot of cigarette smoke filled the bathroom through the ventilation carpet was also very stained

Since it is central and close to a lot of bars, it was quite noisy until late. Although we kept the windows closed, you could hear the noise very well. However we did know about the noise beforehand, so we brought ear plugs with us. The bathroom was not thououghly cleaned (hair in the sink from previous guest). I would have loved a bit more joghurt in my granola for breakfast.

Aircon was dreamy and the room was really comfortable and spacious.

Room Was not up to standard. Clearly they had been an issue in the bathroom Floorboards lose toilet would not flush correctly generally very dated in need of revamp. When not busy or full Crazy to allocate us room 109 Which will put us off staying again which a pity as we use hotels in this area 6 or 7 times per year

Rooms near the back are quieter than the front due to central location but makes super easy for getting around being in middle of town

Viaje familiar con reserva de tres habitaciones donde solo funcionaba correctamente el aire acondicionado en una de ellas. En la segunda habitación había un ventilador ya que el aire acondicionado enfriaba poco. En la tercera habitación no había instalación de aire y los dos ventiladores que llevaron no fueron suficientes.

Breakfast. The only hotel we have stayed in on a B&B booking where you have to choose a single item from the menu and pay for any other course - couldn't have cereal followed by cooked for instance. For the difference in price between room only and B&B you could have been out of pocket.

It was really good value, in a nice location, staff were lovely.

The aircon was locked so didn't go low enough and the windows were not double glazed so you could gear all of the noise outside

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Hotel was conveniently located and air conditioned room was much appreciated.

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. I was able to check in very smoothly and they're very friendly even in the morning. The breakfast was amazing and definitely worth every penny. I love the fact that everything that I would need in a hotel room is there. Thank you for the slippers and lovely body wash, it smelled wonderful!

Personal preference would be to have firmer pillows and firmer mattress. But I still had a good night sleep. Also, the do not disturb sign, I wasn't able to find it but it's okay.

Fantastic location near to a wide range of restaurants and cafes. The room had great facilities, comfy beds and a great shower. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was excellent as was dinner. Would definitely stay again.

Friendly staff. Comfortable, smartly furnished room overlooking popular area of the central town. Situated in an attractive, historic market town with plenty of places to eat. Good breakfast. Excellent value for money.

Vehicular not ideal although 'drop off' for suitcases wasn't difficult and secure (paid) parking only a short walk away.

Mycket trevlig personal, rummet var bekvämt med air-conditioning vilket var mycket bra eftersom det var mycket varmt ute. Välstädat och renbäddat och nya handdukar varje dag. Hotellet ligger mycket centralt. Vi hade vårt rum på tredje våningen och det var väl isolerat som dämpade ljud utifrån. Vi är mycket nöjda med vår vistelse

Very dog friendly, in bar area and room. Given a quieter room on the 3rd floor. Which suited us with the dog, as it was air conditioned and away from the noise of the England World cup game going on at 2am, which they also gave a free drink each as compensation of the football being shown next door in the garden to the rear. Our room was at the front. Staff were fantastic and acomodated the dog in the building. Very dog friendly. Central to Hertford Town, parking was in the local council multistorey very well priced and easy walking distance.

Only negative we had was the price of the breakfast. If you pay £10.50 each, your only allowed one selection from the menu and 2 drinks. Get charged if you'd like 2 items like fruit birches and scrambled eggs or fruit compote and eggs benediction for example. Plenty of places to eat around the town at competitive prices.

I liked all the extra touches in the room. Slippers, great toiletries, fluffy towels and bottled water- a choice of still or sparkling. Staff were helpful and breakfast was great. Location was perfect.

​Breakfast Issue: I booked a room with breakfast included, but at check-in, I was asked for an extra £21. I refused to pay twice, so we ended up not having breakfast at all. ​Noise Disturbance: The room was extremely noisy. The receptionist assured me the noise would stop, but it continued through the window all night. I woke up repeatedly and got no proper sleep.

Location, overall comfort, decor, friendliness & helpfulness of staff and breakfast were all great thank you.

Being picky but fridges & air conditioning in all the superior rooms (rather than just some rooms) would be ideal. Fan provided was still very good though thank you very much & very much appreciated. & the points mentioned wouldn’t stop us booking again as overall, stay was perfect for what we needed.

Hertford House has a lovely boutique vibe and breakfast is excellent with lots of choice. It was unusually hot weather and some of our group booking had air con. Our room at least had a fan. Staff very helpful. Great central location. There are social events / private functions on Fri / Sat and this was clearly communicated - although there is some noise it didn't bother us. Great to have iron, board and hairdryer.

A smaller desk would have given more space in the room.

This was our second stay at Hertford House, a lovely atmosphere and the staff were amazing. The restaurant has amazing food and again the staff were brilliant, very attentive. Our room was daily attended to and very polite and friendly. Absolutely love this Hotel. Will definitely stay again.

Our only criticism, an extra chair would be nice in the bedroom!

Bed was low and the corner posts stuck out which gave the risk of stubbing your foot if not careful. Breakfast menu changed with change of owners, (sophisticated options), example was the smashed avo on toast which before came with an egg on top, now deconstructed with bland Virgin Mary sauce. Sometimes all you want is plain scrambled egg on toast or an omelette. The granola seemed to have been soaked in either honey or golden syrup then hardened in someway, very hard to chew. Wine options very limited and very expensive, an example is a medium French merlot was at least 50% more expensive than in a normal pub, this was in their pub.

The food in the hotel was expensive but of excellent quality. The staff were very friendly in the hotel and restaurant. A big thank you to the staff member who brought us a heater and the one who helped me with taking my luggage down to the main road.

It was a cold weekend and the heater did not come on in the room at all. We were grateful for the help of the staff member who brought us a portable heater.We

From the moment you arrive you get a very warm welcome. Zoe and her colleague was on duty the day I arrived and explained everything to me. I had a nice sized room with a great shower. It’s quite simply a great hotel with the best staff. There’s a bar next door which is very nice and tasteful. done. You also get a very warm welcome, Jess the manager ( I think) told me all about the place and local area, amazing. Highly recommend.

We stayed on a busy Saturday night and our room overlooked the square. Noise continued till past midnight. It did t bother us too much though and we still slept well.

Great downtown location on quiet street. Nice room. Lovely breakfast. Helpful staff.

No car park and i got a ticket for overnight parking in the nearby multistorey car park.
