Shower not working in my guests room. Couldn’t fix

Room with a sea view, great location and parking- access to cliff walk and Tullan Strand. Excellent pool/leisure facilities. Great bar food - great portions and quality. Lovely comfortable foyer/bar area with comfortable seating. Great sized room and clean/comfortable. WiFi good in room. Hotel had an overall good ambiance. Would certainly stay again.

Minor details - small packs of biscuits in room would be a better welcome. Although the hot breakfast was good, continental aspect could be better. There were only croissants (none left when we had breakfast on Sunday morning at 9.45). There were no cold meats, as we have had in other 4 star hotels. Potato bread would also have been nice with the hot breakfast. TV only had local stations. Update TVs to Smart TVs with access to YouTube etc.

Obviously a lovely hotel once upon a time but now a bit tired. Breakfast was fine but not amazing. Clientele during our stay was mostly older people on coach trips. If that isn't your vibe I would recommend booking elsewhere!

Pool, bed and access to town

Cleanliness, breakfast, towels were tiny, hotel is dated , it could do with a revamp compared with other 4* hotels......q

I liked where it was .

The Gym was poor & Pool was"nt clean & in bad need of repair, the bathroom tops didnt work really & the veiw we got was bad, the breakfast wasnt great & we got a meal one night & was handed to us in 5mins after ordering & was really poor....we have stayed in many places & I would never go back to this place ,& it wasnt cheap....

The children running and playing in corridor’s playing and shouting when my disabled husband was trying to rest this was at night time also knocking on doors looking for attention so annoying???

Loved the location, the downstairs was really nice. The bar and food were delicious. The bedroooms were a bit dated and defiantly not noise resistant!

Bar staff on the Sunday afternoon to evening shift did,nt look pleasant never came and asked was the meal ok or did we need anything.

Das Hotel macht insgesamt einen sehr abgewohnten Eindruck, und insbesondere im Poolbereich ließe die Sauberkeit definitiv zu wünschen übrig. Der Fitnessraum ist mit älteren Geräten ausgestattet, deren Sitze bedauerlicherweise nur behelfsmäßig mit Panzerband repariert wurden. Zudem ist das Gebäude sehr hellhörig, sodass Bewegungen aus dem darüberliegenden Stockwerk zu einer spürbaren Lärmbelästigung führen. Die Zimmer entsprechen leider nicht den im Internet gezeigten Bildern. Die Einrichtung wirkt lieblos sowie modernisierungsbedürftig, und die Zimmerreinigung beschränkt sich auf das Nötigste. Der Service konnte während unseres Aufenthalts leider keine der aufgetretenen Unannehmlichkeiten lösen. Weder der defekte Fernseher noch das Zimmertelefon wurden repariert, was die Kommunikation mit der Rezeption unmöglich machte. Besonders störend war die Toilettenspülung, die die gesamte Nacht durchlief, ohne dass Abhilfe geschaffen wurde. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr einseitig und bietet lediglich ein traditionelles „Full Irish Breakfast“. Frische, gesunde Alternativen sucht man hier vergeblich, und auch auf Sonderwünsche wie Mandelmilch wird leider nicht eingegangen. Fazit: Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt hier leider überhaupt nicht. Für den verlangten Preis entspricht der Zustand des Hotels nicht den Erwartungen.

Very disappointing experience – nowhere near 4-star standard We stayed one night at the Great Northern Hotel and, unfortunately, our experience was nowhere near what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The toilet in our room had such a strong smell of urine that I almost felt sick in the morning. This is simply unacceptable at any hotel, never mind one advertised as 4-star. There was also no drinking water in the room. I had to go to the bar and ask for a jug of water as they don't sell bottled water only small 300ml ones. This is something I have never experienced There was a lot of noise from children running through the corridors and repeatedly banging doors until around midnight, which made it difficult to relax and sleep. The biggest disappointment was the food. The food felt more like a canteen than a 4-star hotel restaurant. Much of it appeared to be prepared in advance and served cold, with sauces served in small plastic ramekins. For example, I ordered a chicken and bacon Caesar salad. Instead of the expected crisp baby gem lettuce, it was made with a basic mixed salad, there was no bacon at all, and the chicken was cold and shredded, simply placed on top. This is not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel restaurant. We also booked dinner in the restaurant that evening, expecting a proper dining experience, but unfortunately the food was very similar in quality and presentation. Again, it felt more like canteen food than a 4-star restaurant. And then came the cherry on top: a double espresso at breakfast costing €7. For that price, in a hotel claiming 4-star standards, I would expect something considerably better. Overall, while the hotel may have the facilities and appearance of a 4-star property, the cleanliness, noise control, service and especially the food were nowhere near the standard I would expect. Very disappointing experience, and unfortunately we would not choose to stay here again.

Our double room was tiny, had to walk around bent over at one side of the bed because of a slanted roof , it had advertised a bath in the bathroom but there was none and the shower was really terrible, there was no pressure in it at all, very frustrating and not good enough really

Terrible noise at night paper thin walls could hear kids running up and down corridors at midnight and doors slamming could even hear the neighbouring room pulling curtains over. Breakfast only ok. Staff didn’t come and ask tea or coffee had to go find someone to get it

But plenty on offer. Easy access to a table and comfortable seats and booths.

Breakfast ingredients were a bit low quality. The restaurant was very warm and that made the breakfast a bit uncomfortable

The room was cold and had to ring a few times to get the heating turned on and it was only on a very short time so was very disappointed with that

Excellent location for beach and town. The family room for 2 adults and 2 children was great. Plenty of room and beds. Food was very good although breakfast time in restaurant was busy. Bar food very good.

Pancake maker machine at breakfast was too slow. No play park for children is a big miss. More children's activities would be good.

Stunning views, I went here for a tattoo convention and it's a lovely place with a good bar and nice food.

I think I just got unlucky because there were a lot of moths in my room. This it needs a little updating in the rooms.

Dirty nappy in bin. Horrible odur in room. Wall socket not working.Tea tray no where near a socket and on a floor level shelf Main light flickering 3 family members served while 4th had to to wait 15 minutes longer.

Spacious and clean rooms, lovely food, mostly friendly staff, live music, nice leisure facilities.

Had to wait a very long time for food in the evening, had to queue a long time for breakfast in the morning, and the housekeeping staff we encountered were rude and unfriendly. All of these comments were taken to the duty manager and she was very apologeti and kind. I paid Bank Holiday premium for our stay and didn't feel it was value for money. I also think charging 25 euro per hour for an extension to checkout is very expensive.

Hotel ran well,with having to run different occasions happening at the same time,location to golf course was perfect!

The first room we were allocated ,had a terrible view ,but staff helped us change rooms and couldn’t be happier with second room!

We stayed in room 229 the shower needs looking at. The pressure was awful. (none) This would need to be sorted for the next persons Food was ok, tasty but small portions, if the fish was meant to be cod it was on a diet before been caught, desserts were tiny. Small portions for big prices. Breakfast was good

Excellent location with beautiful views. The bar was well set out and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The breakfast buffet was very cramped and not spaced out enough for the guests. There wasn’t a safe in the room. USB-C charging points were not installed, I would recommend that you bring a charging plug. The mattress could be upgraded. The bathroom was a mix of new and outdated. I had a shower over a bath.

Het hotel heeft veel allure maar wel verouderd. Als ze het een opknapbeurt geven zou het een fantastisch hotel zijn!

De kamers waren enorm benauwd. De ramen konden alleen om een kier en er was verder geen ventilatie. Ook waren de kamers enorm verouderd en de badkamers hadden erg goedkoop sanitair. Ze pronken met de vier sterren die het hotel heeft maar wat mij betreft niet vier sterren waardig. Het zwembad was ook erg verouderd.

This hotel is not worthy of a 4* rating. Very dated - dirty in places . Indifferent staff (with the exception of bar staff). Poor breakfast offering for a 4* hotel- took room number and that was the total of communication. We had to chase after staff to get tea/coffee, hot buffet warm at best. Not once were we asked how our food was during or on leaving the breakfast room. The same when we checked out- took our keys with no inquiry as to how our stay was. We had our evening meal in the bar - which given the speed of service was pre cooked. We expected a 4* hotel would have a restaurant offering. We won’t be back

The young staff, particularly those in the breakfast room and the evening restaurant, were exceptional. Location was excellent. Room and bathroom were spotless and adequate. Breakfast was good.

Bedroom was on the small side and bathroom was a bit tired. Food in the restaurant from the fixed menu was disappointing. Would have expected bottled water in the room.

The room was smaller than expected and only had a partial view of the sea, mostly looked on to the back of a building. Food was mediocre in the bar and had to ask three times for one of our drinks to be sent down to the table but the staff were very friendly We were late down for breakfast and it was very busy but there were no trays, side plates left and all seemed a little all over the place but again it was very busy and we just weren't sure where everything was.
