Room was spacious with comfy bed and huge on-suite. Food was exceptional. Breakfast more than you could eat and the Lamb Henry for evening meal was superb. Quaint old style pub and restaurant with log fire. Staff very friendly and sincere. Great atmosphere! Will definitely return one day and recommend to anybody who is planning to visit the peak district. Thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable.
Cosy pub, good food, friendly staff, great location clean well furnished rooms, good shower, decent coffee machine. Top place to stay
Breakfast only served between 9 & 10 (this was a Friday, may differ on other days), which didn’t suit us. Breakfast tray was offered but we declined
Staff were lovely. Room comfortable and food was delicious. Would highly recommend.
Charming country Inn. Friendly staff, great breakfast. Wonderful cosy decor. Comfortable rooms.
Nothing.
Ideal for our one night stopover. Good dinner , lovely bar ,comfortable bed and good breakfast served later in the morning so we didn’t have to rush
The staff were amazing, the food was really good, the room was lovely. Nice big car park and lovely outside seating area. Stayed here last year and hope to come back next year. The perfect place for a peaceful break.

Loved our short stay, excellent service from all the staff. Enjoyed our evening meal & very tasty breakfast with a varied selection, would definitely recommend
Nothings to dislike
Everything was perfect thank you, as it was the last time we stayed with you. Were on earth, who ever does Mulligatawny Soup (Obviously Southern India). Well done Chef, brave and absolutely nailed it. It was delicious. I think the last time I had that was when we made it in a project at catering college and that was some time ago. Not having been able to eat for a few days previous, the evening before we stayed with you I had been diagnosed with a condition that affects the jaw, chin, and upwards of the temples and when you chew, it's soooo painful. Your very helpful waitress asked the chef id I could have this alone and he agreed, my partner also had a starter. Thank you Chef for you understanding while busy. Of course, the breakfast was also a no brainer, scrambled egg and smoked salmon ( almost no chewing involved0 and it was superb cooked and presented. By the way, the med condition is being treated and I should be back to normal in a couple of weeks.
That I couldn't have a proper steak. Haha. My problem, definitely not yours. Next time hu?
Liked the overall stay. Food shall be the key attract.
Extremely comfortable bed, the food was first rate and the staff and service very friendly and efficient
Nothing
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The quality of the food at breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfy. Great place to stay for exploring the area and for walks.
The room and location was great, the meals at night were excellent. Breakfast was very good
I loved the bathroom was very modern and spacious
Toilet seat needs a soft closure
Nice food and drinks
The Lamb Inn serves fantastic food. The staff are very professional and friendly. The location is great with walks to open countryside directly from the pub. There are lots of places to visit nearby. Our room was spacious and comfortable.
Excellent food and hospitality
Nothing
Good breakfast, comfortable room.
Our room #2 was light and airy and the bathroom was spacious. The inn is obviously old and historic, but was decorated in a modern style. We ate there both nights and the food was exceptionally good for such an inn. Breakfast was excellent. Pleasant and friendly staff.
Others have mentioned the busy road, but it didn't bother us.
The staff, especially the young woman who greeted us on arrival (didn't get her name unfortunately), were very pleasant. The food was very good and it was great to see many locals eating there. The mattress was comfortable The room was appropriately decorated for a country pub without a load of cushions on the bed thank goodness (they just end up on the floor!)
The room was dark even with all the lights on. The shower cubicle was very slippery. Luckily I found a mat under the sink. With room one being at the front of the accommodation block near the kitchen, we did have people on occasion standing talking outside our room window. We had to close the curtains at those times. Like just about every place we stay in the pillows were soft and lumpy.
Friendly staff and cosy pub. Plenty of free parking. A great location for a stop off on our way home to Bristol from the north. Lots of nearby good walks and cute villages. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent.
We stayed in the same room about 5 years ago and it was the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in. Sadly this time the mattress was saggy and also the bathroom door didn’t latch. We reported both issues so hopefully they will be addressed quickly. The road can be a bit noisy.
Great location, food, atmosphere
Needs some maintenance! Our bathroom lock broke and locked my husband in!
Great location. Friendly staff. Breakfast and Dinner superb.
Be sure to book the restaurant as it is very popular.
Beautiful
Nothing
Breakfast excellent and a good range of dinner options.
Road a bit noisy.
Beautiful Pub, our room 3 had some outside seating which was a nice addition. Room was good size and quiet. Food was exceptional, breakfast was a real treat. We ate in the pub on 2 nights and also sunday lunch, everything was to a really high standard. The staff were exceptional, really positive, friendly and so well trained
bed was a bit too soft and pillows lumpy for our liking but its really hard to fault this place as they really go out of their way to make the stay very special.
Loved The Lamb Inn , we stayed for one night the room was perfect done to a high standard . The staff were very welcoming and friendly . The pub was done out beautifully and the evening meal and breakfast we had was excellent, highly recommended!
We chose this spot because we wanted a traditional pub experience within a good distance of Lyme House. The old inn was beautiful inside and out, with comfortable rooms and modern bathrooms. The staff were very lovely and made us feel completely welcome and valued. The rooms were well stocked with nice quality tea, coffee and water. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. I was impressed at how full the restaurant was on a Monday night with patrons not staying at the rooms.
It would have been nice to go for a walk from the pub in the evening but the road was too busy, but that certainly is no fault of the Inn. Just a minor thing was that the bedside lamps were too dim for reading.
A charming inn that manages to combine warmth, friendliness and professional service. Family-run, and really welcoming at evey step. Rooms are comfortable and quiet; parking is easy and convenient, and the pub itself is cosy and a great place to relax in, especially when the wood fires are going. For walkers, the inn offers easy access to the Pennine Way via a 30 minute climb to South Head. We spent three nights here and would certainly come back.
Room was spacious, well furnished. Great dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff.
Not a big deal but the road is busy although the pub is set back so it was not noisy.
Fantastic! Cooked fresh every morning. Lots of choice.

Beautiful old style pub with an open fire to greet you, beams and styled beautifully which was a welcome change to the pubs that have renovated and lots their character. The staff are particularly friendly, cheery and can’t do enough to please. Beds and pillows very comfortable
The room was a little close to the road but that is probably true for most pubs. It wasn’t an issue at night and the rooms are pretty well insulated for noise
Open fires in the bar. Cosy atmosphere. Nice touches in the room: water, hot drinks, biscuits, sweets.
Nothing.
The Lambs Inn staff where welcoming and available to answer any questions. The Lambs Inn bar and restaurant provided excellent food options especially the lamb curry and steak burger. The accommodation was lush and offered a welcomed rest after a day spent walking the kinder scout circular and surrounding areas. Will definitely look to staying again.
.
Beautiful old coaching Inn with cosy nooks and log burners. Excellent food, perfectly cooked. The ideal spot for hiking in the Peaks. The room exceeded expectations - super clean, lovely decor and nice luxury touches.
Beware if you are arriving by train it can be tricky to get a taxi from Chinley. But the staff at the Lamb were very helpful with lifts!
Room, shower, restaurant
Bed was too soft
Superb find! Cozy but spacious room with the most comfortable bed and big modern en-suite. Friendly and welcoming staff. Easy access to Chinley Churn and other walks. Lovely little traditional pub with excellent food! Wish we could have stayed longer and sampled more. Best full English we’ve had in years. Would definitely recommend it!
A beautiful hideaway in the high peaks Excellent hospitality stunning rooms and amazing food Perfectly placed for the exceptional walking in the area
Could not find a single fault
The location is perfect and the views from the patio through the trees is perfect. The bar and lounge area are quaint and relaxed and made the more special by the log burner
Nothing
Food was very good. Room was a good size.
Weather could have been better, but in January can't complain!!
Fantastic atmosphere, very nice room, fantastic food & service, highly recommend
Friendly, welcoming and lovely little things in room… chocolates, drinks, biscuits! Beautifully decorated and super comfy bed.
Only thing was that breakfast didn’t start till 9 at the weekend which was really too late for me
Our room was heated well and was pleasant enough. Decent shower and clean bedding. Food was good. Service in the restaurant was good, the staff were friendly.
The location was awful smack bang next to an extremely busy fast road. Our room was a very short walk from the Inn, the walkway there was slippy and uneven underfoot. The Inn offered good food, cooked nicely from a limited menu. Breakfast was good - not exceptional as had been mentioned by other guests in reviews. The Inn itself is a typical country pub nothing more. The room had a stiff, hard to lock door and an unpleasant cleaning solution smell when we first arrived. Our stay here was ok just very unremarkable in any way!
Well appointed room, lots of thoughtful comforts expected and unexpected. Delicious food both supper and breakfast. Highly recommend
Nothing
Warm and comfortable, great food, lovely staff
Comfortable rooms and nice bathrooms. Staff friendly and helpful
Food and the location were amazing
.
Excellent food for Dinner and Breakfast
can't think of anything
Excellent. Service was great from all the staff. Food cooked to a high quality.
Fabulously cosy and welcoming pub with a great atmosphere. I had been before a year ago and the experience was so positive I booked for longer and bought my partner. The owners David and Fiona were welcoming and it felt warm and cosy with the log fire blazing. We stayed for dinner, a great lamb Henry and the place was buzzing, obviously a hit amongst locals. Excellent fayre and would have been well served in a top London hotel and thanks to the chef Elvis and others. Great service lots of friendly staff on hand. Then back to our room that was well furnished and warm, weather was frosty outside and it was very clean and there was everything we needed. A lovely comfy bed so great nights sleep and a great walk in shower. There was tea and coffee which my partner needs. Next morning we had the exceptional full English breakfast, a real hit as the contents were locally sourced and therefore top notch. Can't rate it higher but would give this an 11.
I loved everything, it was above and beyond our expectations.
Everything was as advertised. The room was comfortable and furnished to a high standard. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Nothing
Lovely place to stop and recharge on our road trip. Plenty of parking. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. Room well decorated very cosy and comfortable and great modern shower.
lovely food and staff.
Lovely accommodation and an amazing feel to the pub and restaurant. Everyone was so friendly.
The shower tray was a bit shallow so it overflowed a bit. There was a bit of light from the front door
Lovely characterful inn, with real old world atmosphere. Great food and friendly staff. Very comfortable accommodation. Little to fault.
Nothing
Just perfect. Fiona and Dave make guests feel so welcome. Pub and restaurant quintessentially countryside England.
Lovely historic inn. Great food and roaring fires.
Very friendly staff, room lovely and clean, evening meals 10/10
Personal experience is pillows too soft
breakfast>great, Dinner>great,
Room>smaller than envisaged by the photos and very dark too close to stone wall and grass bank.
We thought the pub was exceptional rooms very nice.
Nothing.
Jen of a place, food was excellent, rooms clean and comfortable.
Nothing
Very nice accomodation, clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.
There was nothing we didn't like about this four night stay at Lamb Inn..
Very welcoming staff and lovely big room
Road noise
The accommodation was exceptional. Everything is catered for. Hair dryer, straighteners, ironing board and iron even an umbrella. The staff are amazing so friendly and professional. The rooms are very spacious and the bed is so comfortable. Food was absolutely delicious we ate there both nights and the breakfast was superb. I will definitely be returning.
Loved everything.
The location is wonderful in beautiful countryside. The welcome was warm and helpful and the room was beautifully appointed, with plenty of space. The bathroom was also spacious and excellently appointed. The room had spring fresh water available and a nespresso machine. The bar area is cosy and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. Breakfast was also fabulous. Staff were lovely. Just a great, traditional venue.
As a minor picky point, we didn't find the non slip mats for the shower until after the shower, so perhaps a little heads up about that, and a larger bath towel would have been appreciated, but really minor points.
Hidden gem in the Peak District. Lovely spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.
Quilts are always too warm for us!!
staff were cheerful and efficient. nice to be greeted with a smile. Breakfast was very nice ,just what we wanted. the whole place was nice and accessible except for the cobbles but they looked lovely!
there really was nothing to dislike. Everyone was friendly and pleasant. It was a bit difficult to keep the water in the shower but we managed.
Everything really but especially the staff. It was a busy sunny August day yet every member of staff was as so friendly, attentive and professional. The room was comfortable, beautifully presented and had everything we needed. Food in the restaurant was to a very high standard and breakfast was brilliant.
Nothing
Amazing food, lovely old pub, friendly. Helpful staff , good parking, comfortable outside seating just perfect
Stayed here 2 nights. The chef Elvis outdoes himself with Michelen star quality meals. The Crab Salad and Pork Rigatone were faultless. Best meals I have eaten in Europe. Friendly bar staff and spacious room with first class bathroom. Mattress needs replacing though.
Lovely old English pub, excellent food, nice room but the bed is really soft.
The location is perfect for hikes to Kinder. The food was excellent. Accommodation was of a very high standard. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
No negatives. Very good attention to detail.
Nice clean and comfortable room . Very friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
The food, the service, the atmosphere. All, treated like friends .
Nothing...
The Lamb Inn is a beautiful old pub, the staff were welcoming and helpful. We had two double rooms which were spacious, clean and comfortable. Our evening meals were all delicious and breakfast was plentiful and tasty.
The here was nothing not to like.
Very friendly helpful staff, nice comfortable room and tasty food. Very reasonably priced.
Excellent service, large clean room and fantastic food
The grouting around the shower needed a little attention
Food excellent room excellent
Slightly out of main peak district
Very friendly staff. Could go on walks straight from the front door. Delicious breakfast and great evening meal.
We knew in advance that we couldn’t arrive between 3-5pm and that the pub was near a busy road. So that was fine.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, accommodation was comfortable with plenty of space and a large bathroom (shower in particular), morning greeting at breakfast was so nice and the food excellent, evening meal was fantastic too.
Bit of a smell when we first arrived but quickly dissipated, shrub overgrowth obstructed the door but the lady kindly attended to this, traffic noise was constant.
