The Waves Beach Chalets

The staff were exceptionally attentive and always ready to help. The place is peaceful and quiet, perfect for rest and an escape from everyday life.

It’s a bit outside the city, about a 15-minute drive.

Wonderful location, very kind staff and good breakfast at the property. Clean facilities, and right next to the beach!

Would be nicer if they had no fence or something more natural between the beach and the chalets.

Le cadre la tranquillité tout était parfait

Rien

Všechno bylo v pořádku a předčilo naše očekávání. Soukromí a oceán přímo za domem.

Mr. Saliy's hospitality was top notch. Loved how peaceful our chalet was, right on the beach, like a slice of paradise. The dinner and breakfast were amazing too. Loved everything. :)

Good beachside location and close to turtle nesting area. The staff were friendly and helpful and a good breakfast.

I liked the calmness, the nature, esp. animal life. People around there have been very nice.

Breakfast was ok. Toast was cold, what turned them a bit into crispbread.

Miejsce do którego będziemy chcieli wrócić 😊 Cudowny personel!! Pyszne jedzenie, polecamy seafood barbeque.

The location was incredible directly at the beach - a quiet and lonely beach. We also enjoyed the area around the chalets, the lagoons, which were great to explore. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for everyone who is looking for a peaceful time - simple, basic and close to nature.

Property has great potential, a ‘hub’ would be great to have more like a centre to interact with other guests.

sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal.

Beautiful, tranquil small resort right on the most glorious beach. Kind, unobtrusive service, delicious breakfast and right next to a bar (not noisy) with good food. We loved staying here.

It wasn’t a problem, but the bathroom was outdated.

Stunning location right on the beach, delicious breakfasts under the trees and gentle, thoughtful staff

Great place on the ocean, very comfortable room. Excellent service

Excellent! Best beach in Sri Lanka

Wonderful welcome, superb position overlooking the Indian Ocean. Excellent service.

Cold shower until it was fixed.

Niets

We loved our stay and felt very welcome! Great chalet with all amenities, excellent breakfast and service. We also tried the fish barbecue on the menu, which was also great!

Very quiet and peaceful beach, very good food and big meals, helpful and friendly host, clean room and nice shower, we would like to come back!

What a gentleman and what a service ❤️

Fantastic location right on the quiet part of the beach. The staff were great and breakfast was delicious

The rooms are a little basic but do the job.

Quiet place close to a beautiful beach

Beautifully decorated cabins in the older style. Location is secluded, and very quiet. The staff were exceptional, arranging everything and solving problems. You can go for long walks on the beach and hardly meet anyone. Mr Saliya organised a sunrise trip to Kalemitya Bird Sanctuary which we highly recommend. We also saw turtles on the beach - very special. Breakfasts were delicious, we chose the Sri Lankan options and the coffee was great! Swimming nearby: there is a Rockpool about 10 minutes walk away that is safe to swim, otherwise very dangerous. We went to to Silent Beach by tuk tuk one day (20 minutes) and it was a good safe spot for swimming. We also ate some delicious meals at nearby Mama’s Kitchen- only a 10 minute walk away. We were very sad to leave as the staff were so very kind and attentive.

Kind and welcoming staff and comfortable room set in nature overlooking sandy beach.

Sea fierce but able to bathe a little way along the beach.

Kind and welcoming staff. Location in nature. Delicious food. Comfortable room and facilities. Balcony and garden space overlooking sandy beach.

Sea fierce but can bathe a short distance at reef along beach

The location and surroundings were lovely and the staff were very helpful.

We really loved staying at The Waves. The chalet was clean and comfortable, and the service was excellent. We were really well taken care of. There is easy access to a beautiful quiet beach. Would love to stay again some day!

The waves beach chalets is a great place if you look for quiet, empty beaches. The rooms were super well equipped. The staff was super friendly & the breakfast was super delicious and with a great view. Will definitely come back & can recommend to stay here!

Very nice and very quiet chalet on a deserted beach. The location is literally on the beach. Ideal if you want tranquility. Just the sound of the waves! Our host was excellent and helped us with information we needed. There is a good restaurant next door and the Waves will provide good dinners at reasonable cost if you give them warning (as everything is freshly cooked).

Mahesh and his team were incredible. Very welcoming, friendly and couldn't do more to help. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice and we had some delicious dinners too. The laundry service was the best price we had on our trip. The location is peaceful and quiet with views over the sea, although Mahesh warned us it wasn't safe to swim directly outside but its a 2 min walk down the beach to a safer spot.. A great place to stay to unwind after some of the busier places. Great wildlife in and around the chalets too.

Nothing. We had a great stay.

Property has very nice green territory, we’ve seen near our chalet peacock, lizards, palm squirrels and a lot of other animals. Good variety of breakfast serving under palm trees near ocean. We were just in love with this hotel! Thanks to manager of the hotel, he was nothing but nice and caring person!

Amazing peaceful location with friendly chilled staff

Small, higher-end place on the beach (you hear the sound of the waves from the bedroom). Located in a quiet part of Tangalle. The chalets are very comfortable and tastefully furnished, the outdoor area is very well maintained. There's good shampoo, conditioner, body wash in the bathroom, a hair dryer, the AC works well. What made the place special: - the people (the owner and the entire staff) is extremely helpful and professional. The service on the level of a luxury hotel. They helped us plan activities, find a TukTuk, provided laundry service, etc. - you are in the middle of the nature. From the table where you have breakfast, you see the beach (usually empty), you see all kinds of animals (monitors, mongooses, monkeys, maybe turtles if you are lucky) and birds, etc - the Sri Lankan breakfast is very good - we didn't try the rest of the menu The waves are strong almost everywhere in the area, but there's a corner 5 minutes protected by a reef where it is easy to swim. This place is as good as it gets. There are a few luxury hotels if you want to splurge, but their location isn't as secluded, you aren't as close to the nature and the ocean.

As often in Sri Lanka, hot water in the shower can be a bit lukewarm as it is heated by solar panels.

Beautiful beach nearby. Comfortable beds with very good mosquito nets. Lovely terrace for relaxing outside.

The air conditioning did not work. The room was dark, and water in the shower didn’t drain. There was no hot water at all. The internet in the room didn’t work. They charge extra for tea and sugar, which are usually complimentary in hotels. Typically, free fruits are included with breakfast in Sri Lanka, but here they were offered without mentioning the additional cost. Swimming is not allowed at the beach. There are no sunbeds available for the beach. Difficult to reach as taxis and tuk-tuks struggle to find the way – the access road is not marked on maps. Quite far from the city, so keep that in mind.

The quiet location right next to a dreamy and remote beach is unbeatable. Chalets are well equipped, the garden is beautiful and there is lots of greenery as well as animals (such as monkeys) around. Many breakfast options (Sri lankan as well as continental) available. Rooms are clean and we had the best bathroom of our trip here. Most of all we were thankful to have Mahesh as our host. He helped us with our every need and even served us coffee before an early morning safari at 5am. Wifi connection was very good too.

Bedroom was a little dark.

Our chalet was super comfortable and seconds from the beach. We also had our own table for breakfast and dinner in the middle of nature with view of the ocean. We could see monkeys and peacocks. The team was just fabulous and very attentive to our needs. If you wish to be a little far from everything else, that’s the best place for couple of days!

We knew ahead so that was fine with us, but you can’t swim right in front of the property. You need to go few min walk from there.

Location, on the beach view of the ocean, quiet and relaxing.

Not the fault of the property; unfortunately “the waves” on the beach are a bit punchy, level of jeopardy taking a swim and closed out for surfing but …. There is a small sheltered swim spot down the beach.

The Waves Beach Chalet is set on a glorious stretch of beach, in a beautiful garden. We loved it so much we stayed on for an extra night. Our host was such a gentleman and made our stay so special. The meals were prepared with love and so beautifully presented.

The staff were so nice to us. We arrived late in the evening and they waited for us and made us a fresh dinner late at night. Our stay was during a New Year's Eve celebration. Our host helped us massively with information about what shops may be open at that time. He also called to train station to check if any trains were operating during the holidays for us to leave. He helped us arrange TukTuk and let us check out later than it was scheduled. The internet was stable and reliable with decent speed outside the room, but inside the room was worse. The location was awesome. The private beach was almost empty and we appreciated the privacy. We had breakfast and dinner outside with a nice view of the sea.

Our room was older and a little bit dark, the plaster was falling off in some places and the shower curtain was a bit moldy. But the bathroom was nice, there was a glass ceiling so light came through it and it was nice, especially in the morning.

Access to a serene beach, nice food and hospitality. The rooms are big and comfortable beds. Recommended for nice, comfortable and relaxing stay.

More sockets to charge electronics would have been great. Also a name board along the small streets to find the property can save time since it is little difficult to spot the property.

Private dining area overlooking the beach, peaceful location. Cold drink and cold towel on arrival was a lovely welcome. There are only three chalets so it’s very private and peaceful.

Couldn’t swim at the beach.

This is our first trip to Sri Lanka, and the first few days in Colombo were so tiring for us. But finally, we arrived at The Waves Beach Chalets, and it was our paradise, we could see birds and monkeys from our terrace. It was amazing. The host and his boys were super helpful, kind, and honest. He cares and helps us with everything. I felt so warm and touched. The service is beyond our expectations. The place is so clean and feel like we have our own beach which we can walk and see turtle next door. There are a few restaurants where we can walk from the property to have lunch or dinner. For breakfast will be served at a nice place where we can see the beach, it was super nice. Or if you would like to go somewhere else, the host also can help to arrange tuk-tuk with a reasonable price. We highly recommend this place in case you would like to come to Tangalle. The place is perfect.

Nothing to complain about the place

Amazing place if you don't like tourist heards. You don't feel anyone, you have this wild beach and we where lucky enough to witness a seaturtle mama laying eggs. However, we really want to stress that we did it only using red light and standing from at least 5m distance, so this is not entertainment but precious moment we where able to be parts of. But if you want to have a bit of a night life, only 10-15 min tuk or car ride from the hotel is this nice town of Tangalle and it had all the kinds of food and cool vibes places available.

We did like all

The accommodation is incredibly beautiful. It is located on Marakollya Beach, almost at the end of Tangalle, promising pure nature and beautiful solitary walks on an absolute dream beach. The beds were comfortable, there was a superb mosquito net, and even a cozy bedside lamp. While showering, you could see the trees and the sky through the large glass roof, making it feel like pure luxury. However, if you're looking for parties and hustle, this might not be the right place. For me, it was just perfect, and I would come back anytime, cherishing every moment. The hosts are nice, and there was even a welcome mango juice. They also cook for you, and nearby, there are a few selected beach restaurants that are really tasty.

The light on the terrace could be cozier. (A different light bulb would already make a difference.)

The place is great! Some what of a different experience.

The jacuzzi was closed.

I loved everything. A beautiful, quiet place. A wonderful tropical garden, where you can see a large variety of wildlife from the breakfast table. A beautiful, super clean chalet with all amenities. Kind andl helpful people who pampered us. Excellent Sri Lankan food. The grilled seer fish with buttered vegetables was as exceptional as the rice and curry. The staff are not only helpful, but knowledgeable, too. We have learned much about Sri Lankan cuisine and many other things. The manager has helped us plan and organize our onward trip, showing us new options. A home far away from home.I will certainly come back!

I've loved everything. Nothing negative to say. Everything was exceptional :-)

Chalets on the beach- very quiet location, just down the beach from the turtle reserve. Hosts are very friendly and happy to help with any questions. Fresh food prepared and served beautifully.

Beautiful place in a quiet and nice part of the beach.

Nice calm location right by the sea. Beach is long and clean. Chalet was compact and had nice porch. The host was very helpful and friendly. It was nice to eat breakfast out by the beach. Resort is far away from Tangalle, but if you’re looking quiet place to relax it’s perfect. There were a lot of cafes and restaurants along the beach.

No wifi in the room, only in the main area. Our chalet’s door was jammy and a little annoying to use. The floor woods were squicky and seen their best days and so had the bathtub. You had to walk a bit to find a suitable swimming spot, because the waves in front of the resort were quite huge.

the most beautiful location. fantastic staff just a dream

not much at dll. it’s gorgeous !!! however for others it’s to be noted that they do not have a restaurant or a bar they csn make fab food on request. - for us it did not matter. however it won’t suit families or those wanting a buzzy bar atmosphere

This was the best vacation we had ever had. It was our second time to Sri Lanka and it was perfect! We spent three weeks in the most beautiful, quiet place with perfect ocean view. I can recommend this place to everyone who want to spend the best time on the island. Also, I would like to express my gratitude to the entire staff for their incredible attentiveness, assistance, and support, as well as for the incredibly delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts.

Probably the best beach holiday we had. Beach proximity & privacy, room size and facilities, food were all splendid. This wonderful experience wouldn't have been possible without Saliya(Caretaker) and Mahesh(his deputy). They are always available to sort out your needs, suggest where to go in your spare time and wow, they cook excellent food.

Nothing much to complain about.

Loved it so much that we extended our stay 3 times. It’s a big property with only 4 chalets. We stayed first in the cheapest, which was a good room. Then we moved to the most expensive one facing the ocean because of the lovely terrace. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Service was very personalized. The best of our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. The meals weren’t super cheap but oh so good. We ate like kings every morning and the evening meals we had there were huge and some of the best we had during our trip. The location can’t be beat. It’s the last accommodation before the endless strand of beach towards Rekawa. Truly a great find.
