Nos tocó una habitación en el piso superior y es muy incómodo subir las maletas y luego en el desayuno había una señora rubia muy antipática , parecía que le molestábamos , al entregar las llaves no nos dijo ni adiós en la habitación ,faltaba un poco de limpieza había mucho polvo y la puerta del baño bastante sucia

We tried to get a drink in the bar but gave up as it appeared we were not very welcome. So we went next door and the staff and ambiance was great. It was more comfortable and the staff were excellent so we cancelled breakfast and ate there too

Limited parking difficult to get car into. Encouraged to book a table for dinner, but when we went to order from menu was informed many choices unavailable. Did not get water requested. Consider stay on the expensive side.

No fridge or telephone in the room. Apparently they used to have them, but removed them. No reason given. Room was cramped with only one chair to sit on. No wardrobe or drawers to accommodate clothing-just an open frame with a small number of hangers. Reception staff seemed uninterested and responded badly to any requests for information. Inadequate parking facilities for the number of rooms and which were difficult to access and often full.

La ubicacion es perfecta y aunque tienen parking no tuvimos que utilizarlo porque pudimos aparcar en la puerta sin problema, ya que hay muchas plazas disponibles. La habitacion esta encima del pub y aun asi se descansa perfectamente y no se escucha nada. Es un pub muy tranquilo. El desayuno perfecto La habitacion pequeña pero limpia. Fuimos con perro y no nos pusieron ningun problema

Nos encantó esta hotel en el corazón de los Cotswolds. Un trato excelente. Nos toco una habitación muy espaciosa en la primera planta. No le faltaban detalles. También cenamos una noche en el restaurante del propio hotel, todo muy rico y personal muy amable

Struttura suggestiva e particolare, ma la nostra camera era all’ultimo piano (mansarda) e non comoda a livello di altezza soffitto di lavabo e bagno. Rapporto qualità prezzo da rivedere.

The bed was very comfortable, lovely toiletries. The hotel is itself is stunning, breakfast was great.

There was a long hair in the sink when my partner arrived and when I had a shower I went to use the towel (was totally untouched by us) and there was a large orange stain, so I couldn't use it.

Det var en hemsk vistelse här pga värmen. Rummet värmdes upp under dagen och höll närmare 30 grader hela natten. Även fast temperaturen ute sjönk till 16 grader på natten så kunde vi inte få ner värmen inne pga fönstrena gick ej att öppna. Vi fick inte sova ordentligt på flera dagar, bo inte här under varma månader!! Rummet var dammigt och spindelnät fanns här och var, inte väl städat. Ingen kyl fanns på rummet, vilket saknades i sommarvärmen. Toaletten var ofräsch, blev extremt varmt där inne och luktade illa. Extremt lyhört mellan rummen. Absolut inte värt pengarna.

The staff was very friendly and made us - and our dog - feel welcomed. We also had dinner at their restaurant which was delicious. Lastly, we really liked how our view of the room was straight onto the main area of town. The shower was great too - amazing pressure!

The room was quite stuffy - it was incredibly hot the whole time so we had to keep the standing fan running all night long, which was very noisy. Nothing major, but even in the mornings with the window open and a fresh breeze and weather outside, the room was hot to the point that we had to always keep the fan on. The fan did however cover the noise from downstairs where the pub/restaurant is; when you book a pub/hotel you obviously know what you are in for and expect a bit of noise from patrons in the evening, however it looked like the door to our room had gaps at the bottom and the side, meaning it didn't block any of the noise. Not a major thing as the restaurant and pub close at a decent time, but if you are a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend this room right on top of the restaurant. Lastly, whilst the bed was comfortable the mattress is more on the firm side; keep that in mind if you are sensitive to mattresses - I am pregnant and the firm mattress left me having a bit of hip pain by the end of our stay!

Food in restaurant was very good. Good selection of beer. Wine list was expensive and no average price opportunities.

Our room was like an oven. When we complained we were told there was nothing that could be done. I suggested a water cooler/fan for room not a fan blowing hot air around and was told that they would be bought for next summer. Ive paid £360 for 2 nights and not slept properly. I was told all other opportunities to buy coolers where unavailable currently. I would go back at another time as it would be good then but at the moment a lack of room preparation and thoughts on guest experience has let them down.

My stay was fine but I couldn’t help but feel that it was a bit expensive for what it was. I didn’t realise that breakfast was extra (my mistake), but for what I paid I did expect it to be included. Staff were friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the quirkiness of the room, caused by the great age of the building (but might cause issues for some, sloping floor, steps up to the bathroom, I think there are rooms in a more modern part of the building, worth checking with them if you’re worried). The bed was comfortable and I was glad I’d brought my eye mask, but I made the mistake of not wearing earplugs so was woken up very early by the kitchen below my room. My own fault and easily remedied, a common problem when staying at a pub that I accept. Having said all this, I think most places in and around Stow are overpriced and I was forced to accept the price as I was volunteering at a nearby event and there was nowhere else available, and I’m a former local so I didn’t have that holiday feeling of treating myself, but if you’re visiting Stow as a tourist I think you might find the price acceptable for the experience of being slap bang in the middle of Stow in a historical building.

Location was fine for exploring, with parking, if available at the time of arriving back.

Appreciate that this hotel is an old historic building, but the comfort levels for guests, for the money they charge, are pretty poor. £400 for 2 nights in a sweatbox of a room, even with a noisy fan provided. Resulted in two nights without any sleep whatsoever. We were also told breakfast was not included, as we booked with booking.com instead of direct 😂 When the sun had gone down in the evening, we found the sash window had window locks on the frame so could only be opened approx 4 inches, so barely let any cooler air in. I'm not entirely sure that's safe in an emergency. I was advised in advance of arrival by the hosts to book in to the restaurant for evening dinner, as everywhere in the area, including the stag, gets fully booked. We did this and really regretted it. On arrival, I was told that we didn't have a booking. We produced the confirmation email and then they said they could squeeze us in, this was fine despite the restaurant being empty apart from two other tables dining, and it remained like that for the whole time we was in there. When ordering, I suggested to the waitress that I might need a bit of advice on some menu items, and she rolled her eyes and looked a bit pissed off. It didn't get much better after that, and I felt a bit stupid for bringing my partner here for a nice evening. Couldn't leave quickly enough and definitely won't be going back if I ever visit the cotswolds again.

A problem with the cold tap in the bathroom, as soon as you turned on the tap very hot water came out. Took about 3-4 minutes to go cold. Think they need to check out their plumbing Did report to the receptionist

The room was tiny. It was noisy with Tv sounds from the next room. Smokers sat outside below in the ‘garden’ so our room filled with smoke. I was promised a call from the management who were too busy to talk to me at check-out. So disappointed because it was our special anniversary and it spoiled our time in Stow

Nicely appointed hotel in a 12th-century building in the center of Stow-on-the-Wold. Great location for walkable shopping and dining, including the in-house restaurant. Friendly staff. One of the parking areas has 2 (separately paid) EV chargers.

The lack of a/c or in-room refrigerator loomed large during the late-June heat dome. The in-room fan would have been fine for normal summer weather, but just couldn't keep up in this case. Although there is a hall refrigerator for cold water and milk, the staff had a hard time keeping it stocked when demand spiked because of the heat.

Schönes altes Hotel in Stow, perfekte Lage für Ausflüge und um Stow selber zu erkunden. Problemlose Ankunft mit guten Parkmöglichkeiten, sehr gepflegte Anlage, sehr freundlicher und guter Service, süßes Zimmer mit allem, was man benötigt.

Die Hitze war etwas schwierig im Zimmer, aber mit dem Ventilator schon deutlich besser.

The food was below expectation. We experienced the evening dinner menu and breakfast. Definitely not value for money unfortunately.

We really liked the room, as we had gotten the attic type of room (do not know how to describe it, but it was awesome), the bathrooms were clean and cozy, the meals which we had there were delicious. It was the best.

Just one thing, my friend's room had two sinks in the room and the toilet was separate from the bath. That is all.

Gary and his staff were always kind and courteous. We were so very pleased that when we arrived early, around 9:30 AM, hoping that they might hold our bags, Gary was so kind to tell us that our room was ready. WHAT A TREAT! Thanks again Gary! The food was wonderful. Such a great location. Gary was also able to print out some walks for us which were soooo beautiful! In the evening we were allowed to play a game we brought in the dining room. Would definitely stay here again.

Io penso che definirsi boutique hotel debba essere un'altra cosa. Capisco il fascino dell'antico e forse i vincoli edilizi, e che abbiamo preso la stanza standard, ma alla fine su 6 alberghi visitati abbiamo trovato una stanza piccola come le altre, la porta del bagno non si chiudeva. Per il prezzo pagato davvero troppo alto. Giusto per dormire in un edificio storico.

The creaky floors, I could regularly hear upstairs walking around disturbing my sleep however the building is old so understandable

The room was nice and clean with a tea and coffee refreshments, fresh milk in bottles and fresh water in bottles where found in fridges in the hallways a nice touch. its a lovely old building with lots of charm . The breakfast was perfect a choice of poached, fried scrambled egg with the full english brought to you hot by a pleasant and helpful waiter. The Full english breakfast if chosen was £15 and it included the best tastiest sausage, also included tea, coffee with refill , and another table to help yourself to various juices , breads to toast , various croissants , cereals, hams, you will leave full. location was central on the market square. We stayed as we had a nearby wedding and the manager was very helpful in suggesting mini cabs as they are very 'rare' . yes we would most definitely stay again - just for the breakfast !! itself. Parking in their car parks was available and easy.

They have 2 tiny car parks that are positioned up one way tight squeeze alley ways.range Rover and porsche owners advise to park in the main square free after 4 pm. The hotel has a lot of stairs and narrow corridors. Breakfast was disappointing, only provided us with free continental breakfast ? Full English an eye watering £15 per person. I believed we had booked full English breakfast they declined to allow me to pay the difference between the 2 . Pets are charged an extra £15 a night

Staff were excellent especially Andrew who was very helpful. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was large and well equipped.

The room size was ridiculously small. Yes I knew it was a small room but it wasn't fit for two persons... Also, when I asked to change the coffee machine because it wasn't working I was told it needed a flat surface to work. As if somehow I could build one.. it either works in the room or it doesn't.

It is a very old building which means stairs, small hallways, and crackly floors. It has a lot of character. The staff was helpful with luggage and the breakfast was really good.

I think I would have liked to have understood the accessibility issues prior to coming so we could judge the suitability of the stay and the guests coming. I hope that makes sense.

The central location

We were in the attic room and the stairs leading to our room were on an extreme slope. The bed was also sloping to one side and the extraction fan for the restaurant downstairs is IN THE ROOM also, hidden under a set of five steps that don’t go anywhere. It resulted in a terrible nights sleep. This room is not fit to be let out. At least the meals were lovely and the staff as well

This is a charming hotel in the heart of the Cotswold region. The food at the Stag was excellent. The rooms were well appointed and comfy.

It is an old building and the stairs (many) leading to our room were uneven. It’s not a place if you have mobility issues or tall as my husband was constantly hitting his head on lamps or door sills. The morning staff was also a bit gruff and business like. Not easy going as you’d want on a relaxing trip to the Cotswold. Easy to overlook as the Stag is a lovely place

The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in, it couldn’t be much smaller. There bed was fixed to one of the walls so you could only get in one side, very tricky when there are 2 of you. There was a tiny galley/ walkway beside the bed, barely room for one person let alone two. At £140 a night I think this was very disappointing and certainly not good value. No wardrobe, no chest of drawers just three hangers On. . Tiny rail by the door that got knocked every time you walked past it. Bathroom, tiny, shower, tiny! They must have built the bed in the room as there was no way much was going through that door. Lighting poor.
