Reviewed May 17, 2026The relaxed homely feeling of the house and the beautiful gardens. The beach and small village with great coffee and friendly people. The stunning scenery and the perfect river for our dog to rinse the salt water off in. We stayed 10 days and it was perfect, even though it rained occasionally the house was warm and comfortable. We felt like we were away from the cold frosty weather and had found a tropical paradise.
There was absolutely nothing to complain about with the house or the friendly helpful owners who went out of their way to make sure we were happy.

Reviewed Oct 17, 2025Het is een heel groot huis dat met een groot of meerdere families perfect is om lang te verblijven. Het is rustig, heeft een schitterende tuin en meerdere zitgedeeltes. Vooral de tuin met verandas maken het een schitterend plaatje.
Je komt echt in een oude herrinering binnen. Familiefoto's, schilderijen en verzamelde spullen liggen overal. Het voelt daarom een beetje alsof je bij iemand inbreekt. Toen we tijdens onze wandeling door de tuin de 'gedenkplek' vonden werd het meer een spookhuis gevoel (met alle respect naar de familie natuurlijk). Het had fijn geweest als we dat ervoor hadden geweten, dan hadden we iets anders geboekt.

Reviewed Apr 14, 2025We were all blown away when we reached the property. The house is filled with charm, history, and as my niece said this feels like a real family home. It had everything you need as far as amenities and was so peaceful. Absolutely amazing waking to the sounds of Tui’s. This was the perfect place to stay and only wished we had time to stay longer. Will definitely return. Thank you for sharing your wonderful property.

When it’s summertime, rooms were way too hot. Maybe, invest 1 electric fan for each room.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2024Amazing house. It was a delight for our family to spend time in this place. Obviously a very well lived house in all the right ways. Beach at the end of the street, one of the best cafes we found in all NZ just around the corner. Breathtaking scenery around the area and a cozy open fireplace to come home and sit around discussing plans for the next day's activities. Our family fell in love with the property. Lots of double beds and 2 kitchens. Can't recommend this place enough. We'll be back. Turnbull Family from Brisbane Australia 🦘

It smells like smoke and now my clothes have the smell. Floors were cold . We never received instructions on how to get in to the property and never replied to requests. When I finally called, he told me I was lucky to get a hold of him. The back door was actually unlocked and a window lock was broken.

More detailed directions on how to find the property. A heads up that SH25A was closed would have been helpful in the instuctions. I understand the road is actually reopening next week.

No basics like tea bags so couldn't make a hot drink, house pretty run down and creaked a lot at night. Lots of personal family photos, etc, so we felt a bit weird staying there.
