Reviewed Sep 16, 2026I letti erano molto comodi, il soggiorno, per quanto sia possibile in una camera mista da sei persone, è stato confortevole, e lo staff è stato veramente eccezionale. Pur essendo in spazi stretti (camera mista da sei) abbiamo avuto la fortuna di trovare dei compagni di stanza simpaticissimi e molto rispettosi.

Dat het personeel geen woord Nederlands spreekt we zijn gewoon in Nederland en ik ga als het ik op vakantie ga binnen Nederland ga ik geen Engels spreken. Anders was ik wel naar Engeland gegaan.

We found that a bit more attention to the rooms could have made a difference. The blinds were broken and we were not able to fully shut them, there was not so much space to put luggages and the room was not aerated enough.

Reviewed Sep 12, 2026La experiencia ha sido interesante. Las camas eran más cómodas de lo esperado. La zona de comida de fuera es bastante agradable. El tren/hostal huele bien.
En nuestro caso elegimos una habitación para tres y en las fotos parecía que las camas serían una litera y otra cama individual, pero resultó ser una litera de tres niveles. La habitación era muy pequeña, no esperaba mucho más, aunque en las fotos parecía más amplia. Tenemos dudas sobre si nos cambiaron de habitación a ultima hora. La ducha no parecía muy higiénica y tenías que alquilar las toallas para ducharte. El personal no te da llave de habitación porque conservan las del tren original, así que a la hora de salir tenías que estar buscando al personal para que te cerrara la puerta, lo cual podía ser bastante eterno. Por dentro tiene seguro para cerrarse.

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Such a handy hostel and excellent value for money. Really saved me when my flight was cancelled and I needed to stay an extra night in Amsterdam! Would definitely stay again, had absolutely everything I needed and I slept very well.
Would be ideal if there was an extra shelf in the bathrooms to put clothes while showering etc!

Reviewed Sep 8, 2026Außergewöhnliche Unterkunft in einem alten Schlafwagen. War mal etwas anderes und ist definitiv ein Erlebnis. Die Betten sind sehr gemütlich und zu dritt fanden wir es sehr witzig in der kleinen Kabine. Trotz vorbeifahrenden Zügen ist es auch erstaunlich ruhig. Der Gemeinschaftswaggon ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet mit allerlei Kleinigkeiten zum Entdecken. Es gibt z.B. einen Korb mit Wolle zum häkeln – was unsere Tochter direkt genutzt hat. Das Personal war ausnahmslos super freundlich und es ist auch rund um die Uhr jemand vor Ort. Die Lage ist super gut angebunden – Züge, Metro, Bus, Tram… alles vor der Tür.
Für ein, zwei Nächte ok, länger wäre es mir etwas zu eng gewesen.

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026Wir sind mitten in der Nacht angekommen, eine spontane Übernachtung war kein Problem. Eine sehr besondere Unterkunft, schöööön alternativ. Luxus gab es natürlich nicht,aber alles war super sauber und mein kleiner Neffe konnte endlich mal in einem Zug übernachten.
Eigentlich nichts,wir wussten schon vorher,dass wir keinen Luxus und nicht viel Platz erwarten können, also...alles super!

Reviewed Sep 2, 2026The only positive thing I have to say, is that the men and women at the reception were very kind, and it is close to the train station.
I don’t know why this place has good ratings. People are drawn to the eclectic vibe of the train, but it was disgusting. I am not a picky person or hard to please, but the train itself is rotting from the inside, our rooms reeked of mildew and mold. The bathrooms were smaller than airplane toilets. The “cleaning” is just remaking beds, and spraying a perfume to mask the smell. In the 6 person room, there was not enough space at all for everyone and their luggage to fit comfortably inside. The people cleaning came into the room when I was changing and didn’t leave… they continued working when I didn’t have clothes on, wtf? I was uncomfortable. The coffee machine/hot water machine was filthy and put dirt particles and dust into your cup. I didn’t feel good here at all, except when talked to the staff. Many updates and renovations are needed but are ignored, it doesn’t seem like the owners want to invest in fixing any of the problems.

Les chambres sont ridiculement petites. Il n'y a même pas assez de place pour ouvrir notre valise. Il faut presque sortir de la chambre pour se changer. Nous étions trois dans une chambre à trois lits qui sont superposés. Le 3e lit est difficilement atteignable. C'est un exercice de gymnastique. Ils mentionnent l'air climatisé, mais c'est une toute petite bouche d'air qui diffuse un peu d'air frais. En cas de chaleur, ça ne rafraîchit pas vraiment la chambre.

Mosquitoes biting us all 5 nights. Bought oil for our bodies and understandably they wouldn't have spray immediately available but no help from staff despite asking 4 different staff on 2 different days to purchase fly spray for the room itself. Expected it to be small but it was even tighter than pictures show. Plug sockets only accessible for bottom bunk

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026Koncepcja hostelu urządzonego w zabytkowych wagonach sypialnych, trochę jak z Harrego Pottera :) Czysta pościel, bardzo miła, pomocna obsługa. Klimatyczne lobby w starym wagonie restauracyjnym. Super atmosfera współworzona przez podróżników. Na zewnatrz są stoly i ławeczki oraz duzo... popielniczek ;) Pociąg stoi przy stacji Amsterdam Sloterdijk, więc podróż do centrum zabiera tylko chwilę. Zasypiając można slychac pociągów. Hostel ma własną wypozyczalnie rowerów, super się jedzie do centrum. W poblizu bar sniadaniowy, ale taniej jest pojsc odrobine dalej do Spar lub Jumbo, gdzie można kupić jedzenie i kawę.
Warto wiedzieć: to jest hostel, łazenki są takie jak w pociągu. Dodatkowo są 2 prysznice na wagon. Przedziały są typowe, więc to raczej opcja do spania niż do siedzenia w pokoju.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2026Goede locatie direct bij station Sloterdijk Bijzonder om in een slaaptrein te slapen. Niet luxe, maar wel fijn en net geprijsd ontbijtje, met Relaxte muziek in de ontbijt/receptiekabine. We konden alvast onze tassen achterlaten en registreren voor de officiele inchecktijd
De trein is uiteraard oud, en vooral bij de badkamer en wc is dat iets minder fijn.

Unfortunately, the accommodation itself was extremely poor. The room felt like a train‑sleeper compartment: cold, dark, and with worrying hygiene conditions. Located right next to the train station, it was unbearably noisy. I was woken up repeatedly throughout the night by train sounds, and there was even an unexpected knock on the door after midnight. The toilet and shower facilities were in terrible condition.

Een heel formulier gegevens in moeten vullen bij inchecken... Terwijl ze (volgens mij) al mijn gegevens al via booking.com hebben. Wc en douche moeten een opknapbeurt krijgen. Je kan ook niet zelf je coupé-deur op slot doen als je weggaat. (Van binnenuit wel) En het hele terrein oogt een beetje vervallen. Jammer! Er kan echt iets leuks van gemaakt worden! Even de frisse wind er doorheen. Dan kom ik graag terug.

Cramped sleeping compartments, but it is an old sleeper train so nothing I wasn't expecting and Perfectly suitable for a short stay.

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026It’s a train. If you love trains you will be happy. Very happy. Great location - not in the centre but close to all transport. The bunk for three days worked really well for us, but good to be aware that you need to be comfort with those you are sharing with, as the space is small.
Not sure the shared bunk experience would be as good as having a private room.

Preis - sehr teuer - obwohl ich Monate vorher gebucht habe, habe ich dann am Einchecktag gesehen, dass es viel günstiger verfügbar war. Das hat meine Freude schon gedrückt, weil ich mit gedacht habe, dass ich auf ein Lockangebot reingefallen bin.

Great service except for the last day change of person, as it is an old train you have to ask for the room to be locked but on the last day asked and they did not. The shared bathroom was clean but the lock was a hook so no privacy as it was partially open and it was broken so could not use the shower.

C’est vraiment très petit mais on ne peut pas s’attendre à plus quand on sait qu’on va séjourner dans un wagon de train, malgré tous, les lits sont très confortables

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Самое интересное, что это реальный списанный немецкий поезд - впечатления аутентичные, когда едут за окном поезда, кажется и ты едешь. Полки довольно широкие и удобные. Душ довольно спартанский, но все чисто и гель был неплохой. В общем, интересный опыт. Недалеко отличные парки и станция поезда, до аэропорта ехать 12 минут.
Один душ на вагон, обычно там мокро. Персонал приветливый, но иногда приходится подождать. Полотенца за отдельную плату, но недорого (2 евро, 3 евро залог возвращают). В целом, по соотношению цена/качество для Амстердама вариант достойный, и интересные впечатления.

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026Location was prime and the eclectic hostel was a great experience. The breakfast Club next door has a wonderful cappuccino and breakfast.
It's tight quarters in your cabin but I knew that going in so no complaints just info- there was plenty of places to hang out and stretch your body when you needed it. The food and drink were a bit expensive not very good.

La camera e' veramente piccola e noi in 3 non avevamo posto per le nostre cose, che ho lasciato tutto in macchina e ho parcheggiato oli vicino a pagamento. E' simpatico e divertente dormire ad una stazione di treno ma per il prezzo che paghi non e' proprio pratico. Non e' neanche un backpakers quindi non puoi cucinarti e non hai frigo.

Reviewed Jul 17, 2026It was an amazing and unique experience. If you want an experience to remember forever, this is the place that you need to book. I wish I could have stayed more. The owner was absolutely lovely and very helpful. The Train Lodge offers absolutely anything that you might like.
