Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Breakfast was cooked to order. Cereals and yogurt were available.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful, right next to Sherwood Forest.
I felt it was in need of some updating. Very dark and worn.
A short stroll to Sherwood Forest and in the centere of the town RJ and the team were great
Friendly staff.
There was only American style coffee for breakfast. For £15 I would hope to get a cappuccino or latte option.
The breakfast was fine
It was all fine except the Waite we had for the breakfast on Sunday the 6th September
Everything
Fabulous location to explore Sherwood Forest from. Good pub food in the evening
Friendly and helpful staff. Room was comfortable. Bathroom was a bit basic. Good breakfast. A pleasant stay all in all.
Dinner in the pub. was a bit basic and for some reason took a long time to be served. Staff were apologetic. Maybe it was an off night
Staff where excellent
Not much choice of food in restaurant
Clean and convenient
Don’t really like having to share my ID details. Even big hotels don’t ask and concerns me if there is a data breach, also paying a deposit for a one night stay. I haven’t had it reimbursed yet either.
Location
Unfriendly staff, shabby decorum and furniture. Very small room and bed. Shower water was cold. Room smelly and bed sheets were musty. Charged £20 for early check in even though our room was ready. Charged £25 for breakages, all firmly requested without a please or thank you. We left early and didn’t stay for breakfast and wasn’t confident it would be of any decent standard; we didn’t even know where to go for breakfast as we wasn’t told anyway. Rubbish experience, however location was good in relation to our event venue.
Good location and close to centre parcs
After a long drive, the first room we were offered was a bit of a disappointment. The gentleman showing us to the room couldn’t open the door himself and then expected us to be able to do it, even though he couldn’t. It was just very time-consuming and annoying, as we had been driving for a long time and just wanted to get into the room and sit down. Thankfully, the owner came out and changed the room for us, which resolved the issue.
Great location, food was excellent
Could do with being updated, shower was either too hot or too cold. Noisy above.
It had character and the staff were very helpful
Location to Sherwood Forest
Bed was a bit uncomfortable on one side
Too old fashioned. Needed some updating in main areas.
The staff were amazing. The rooms and facilities were also very good.
Excellent spot for sherwood. Also the staff was nice giving us painkillers and a bucket of ice after I rolled my ankel
The breakfast. 25 pounds for an adult and kid alright juice, coffee and bread the wait for hot meal was a while and it wasn't that good
Staff were great
Il était proche de la forêt de Sherwood. Et il y avait un parking.
La chambre était petite
Great staff, good food. No issues at all.
The guest wifi sucked. I had to bribe the staff to use the main wifi.
Chambre familiales spacieuse et propre. Gérant très sympas qui nous a permis de réserver la chambre pour une nuit supplémentaire à un très bon prix. Très bien situé dans le village et à 200m du Visitors Centre de la forêt de Sherwood.
Rien
RK is an attentive host and very welcoming. Cozy, great location near Sherwood forest.
Some minor issues. Bathroom needs some shelves for toiletries, a hook on the door for wet towels and extractor fan is noisy. Went for a walk at 845pm, and found pub had closed at 920pm, so early to bed!
The people were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.
Nothing really.
Really nice staff, very accommodating.
Nothing could have been better
It was close to where we wanted to be.
The room was VERY small. And with the “double” bed being against the wall, access in and out for one of us was difficult.
Location, food, rooms amazing
The main building of the hotel itself is very nice - and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very nice.
The Annex bedroom that was dog friendly was clean and functional but certainly not a 4 star experience. I paid £180 for one night with a dog - which was very expensive in my view. We have stayed in several genuinely luxury rooms with our dog so I know it can be done with pet friendly rooms.
The room was comfortable and clean, staff were attentive and friendly. Our overall stay here (for our wedding anniversary,) was super relaxing. My husband also really enjoyed the fish and chips. Excellent! Many thanks!
Small grumble. No USB ports in the bedroom, nothing major.
Very friendly staff and very accommodating
The property had such a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment we arrived. We stayed here for our wedding accommodation as we were getting married close by, and had booked out the hotel for the majority of our guests. The team went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly and that we felt completely at ease throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, and their kindness and professionalism made the experience even more special. The bottle of bubbly that was left in our room for our return with a hand written note, was a lovely touch. A special mention has to go to Zoro, the lovely dog who greeted everyone on arrival and quickly became a favourite with our guests! Thankyou again, from the Noble Newlyweds 🤍
Honestly, there was nothing we would change. Everything was exactly what we hoped for and played a part in making our wedding weekend so special.
We stayed here for our wedding and couldn’t have chosen a better place. The hotel was incredibly comfortable and welcoming, and the staff made us and our guests feel at home from the moment we arrived. There are so many cosy, rustic lounges and living rooms to relax in, which gave everyone plenty of space to socialise before and after the wedding. The rooms were comfortable, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and it was the perfect venue for all of our guests to stay together.
There was very little to fault. The issue we had was a few bumped heads when walking through the corridors due to low door frames. However, they are very clearly marked, but not so easy to spot after enjoying the hotel bar!
Have stayed here before and was impressed by the staff and the service so we booked again.
Very clean. Food is very good. All the staff are welcoming and helpful. Beautiful location with lots to do in the area.
Location was amazing - right across the road from the church we had come to see. Staff were very kind, funny, and made the stay memorable thanks to their personalities. The building is quite ancient and flooring uneven - quirky decorating and history adding to the experience. Great food and atmosphere.
No airconditioning - thankfully heatwave was abating and there was a fan. Bed is up against wall on one side and was only a double, so a bit small for a couple.
The staff were really good as I arrived really late. Very polite and professional
The staff were brilliant, couldn't be more helpful. The food was absolutely delicious 😋
Had great difficulty with opening the entrance door and bedroom door! Took a while to open every time! Had to have help most times!
Staff friendly. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the room and linen.
Unfortunately, the accommodation that we were offered did not seem to resemble the photographs online of a twin room at the Forest Lodge, or match up with the reviews. The room was in an outbuilding. The space was very compact and basic with a cheap door straight into the bedroom from outside. The room was fitted out very cheaply, more inline with a youth hostel or motel rather than a four star hotel. One bed was in a space with no windows, it felt like sleeping in a cupboard. After our meal out, we approached a member of staff to discuss our disappointment, no compensation was offered, although we were told that if they'd had another room available, they would have offered it to us. **UPDATE**: After reading my honest review, the hotel manager called to apologise for our experience, he reiterated that if they'd had another room free they would have offered it to us.
Nice location
Mediocre - external courtyard remote position felt like a shed
Easy to find, very spacious room and great value for money.
Great location and friendly staff
We got there early and the staff went above and beyond to get us in our room we will be visiting them again. polite and very welcoming
Excellent location walking distance to Sherwood Forest friendly hotel staff & dog and the food in the restaurant was beautiful especially the curry.
Nothing
Great location being in the centre of Sherwood Forest and next to a pub plus exceptionally friendly staff.
Unable to turn heating down.
Good location for Sherwood Forest, and several National Trust properties.
Even though the property was on a main road it was very quiet, good selection of drinks and food although I didn’t eat in the restaurant. Breakfast was good selection and staff very efficient and pleasant.
The staff were great, friendly and attentive. The breakfast was very good. The public areas of the hotel had character which was good. The bed was comfy and clean.
We were in room one, we arrived late after a wedding and the room smelled of a blocked drain as soon as we opened the door, it came from the bathroom, opening the windows helped. The toilet seat kept slipping and the shower head was broken.
Visited Edwinstowe to do a craftathon at the village hall...perfect location right on the doorstep
Nothing to dislike
Friendly staff and an awesome dog who was very welcoming.
Lovely hotel, the room was very nice and comfy bed. Handy location to get to Thoresby Park for a festival.
The hotel was all round fabulous, from check in to check out nothing was too much bother for the staff. The bar and restaurant was lovely with home cooked food available. They even catered for our granddaughter, who is dairy intolerant, with no fuss discussing the options available. They re-froze our cool bag blocks to keep our drinks and snacks cool throughout our stay. We stayed in the family suite which consisted of three rooms with ample space for the 5 of us. Thank you to all who we encountered.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the hotel and the service we received.
We were in the area to attend a wedding. Early check in was arranged and assistance with taxis. Breakfast very good.
Nothing to say
The staff were amazing and very friendly.
The TV didn't work very well, however we didn't spend long in our rooms so it wasn't a major problem.
Staff very super friendly, great location for Hazel Gap Barn and Sherwood forest
Lovely traditional country pub in a lovely town. The food here is perfect, proper authentic menu which was divine. Staff, management were friendly and falling over themselves to be helpful.
The breakfast was small and a little minimal for the £15 it cost.
Staff were nice. Area beautiful n close to sherwood forrest. Apartment was lovely big n clean.
We had a bar meal. Eat it by the bar. It should of been around £64 they charged us £85 and said it's service charge. I find that ridiculous n bit disgusting as that's nearly 50% price of meal. Kind of ruined experience. But sherwood itself lovely place.
Lovely old hotel, within easy walking distance to Sherwood Forest. Nice bar and 5 star food, the sizzling sweet chilli chicken was fabulous. A nice enjoyable stay, with a really friendly breakfast lady.
All good
Nice and cosy!
I will suggest to have a reception written and be visible by the customers, because there is nothing to suggest where is the reception. Only pub and restaurant, which make people to be confused. I have parked my car and I was walking around the building searching for reception entrance. The menu is very poor. I was expecting something more diverse. . In the bathroom, the shampoo, shower gel and conditioner bottles was very very small, like 20ml and I'm not joking. I was by myself which was ok, but if was a family with kids that wouldn't be enough, definitely!
Friendly welcoming staff, clean comfy room, nice bathroom, great food, amazing pub dog, and well situated for local shops.
I wasn't paying attention and booked an evening when karaoke night was on, totally on me but you can absolutely hear it in the guest rooms.
The staff were exceedingly obliging. The food was excellent. It was very comfortable. Cute and quirky. Beds very comfortable.
The room could have just done with a small dressing table and mirror.
Always very welcoming , the foid is exceptional .

Room smelt damp and drains smelt
The staff were the amazing. Especially the manager who checked us in. He carried my bags to my room for me and even offered us a drink. Everyone super friendly and helpful. Bathroom was superb. Drink facilities great.
Stairs were a bit tricky if mobility is limited or have heavy bags, but I was assisted with this so wasn't a problem.
Nothing it was smelling the staff were very rude and no reception
The carpets and bathroom Smelt
A charming hotel and pub with friendly staff. The family suite was perfect for travelling with young children. Special thanks for accommodating allergies.
Staff very friendly, good humoured and helpful. Food was AMAZING
Room was small, had smell of drains, poor decor, poor lighting, very basic furnishings - definitely not a 4 star room
Location, age.
Television in room not worth having , controller and channel availability very poor. Light not working for tea and coffee table. Could only open one window. Shower hot and cold . Not a fan of karaoke night.
Friendly staff. Freshly cooked breakfast was very nice.
Shabby throughout. Our 'courtyard room' looked out over the courtyard, which is frankly disgusting - rusty old table in middle of rubbish. Some recent redocoration in the room but also paint peeling off walls. Room was listed as having such facilities as as a safe and a wardrobe, but they weren't present. A desk was mentioned - well, there is a board clipped to the wall that can be folded out, but without any chairs in the room this 'desk' cannot be used. Quite incredibly small and the bathroom was particularly tiny; lean forward at the sink and your bum pushes against the wall on the other side. We couldn't find anything in the whole place that resembled in any way the pictures on the hotel website. (Where were they taken?) Can't understand how it merits a four-star classification by the AA. That must be years out of date.
Great location. Comfortable bed.
We were encouraged to swap rooms from the family room to the 'suite' because there was only 2 of us. We shouldn't have to justify our room choice, we chose it and paid for it and that should be good enough. The 'suite' was a standard king room with dated decor and extremely uneven flooring. No 'extra' amenities, just a coffee machine and kettle. The shower pressure was so poor, you have to hug the wall or hold the head to wash, and it took forever to shampoo my hair as a result. The 'suite' was above the bar so we were subjected to karaoke until 12am. Breakfast looked great but my poached eggs were over cooked. Over all, cheap and cheerful but not somewhere I'd return to. I got a good nights sleep and it was close to Centre Parcs so it was good enough.
Staff very friendly, food excellent and room was comfortable.
Nothing to add
Great location opposite the church where Robin Hood married Maid Marion. Easily walkable to Sherwood Forest even with kids. In the centre of town with convenience stores and restaurants. The lady who checked us in was friendly and we could come and go as we pleased with a key to the outside door as well as our room.
The room wasn’t as clean as I would like (cobwebs in the corners) however the sheets and bathroom looked clean. The bed felt old and springy. Mould spots on the ceiling above the shower which wasn’t very powerful but water was hot. The corridor outside the room smelt damp. Quite noisy at night from neighbouring rooms and road. I was glad we had only booked a couple of nights.
Great convenient location close to centerparcs and sherwood forest. Lovely cooked breakfast with friendly staff..
More veggie options needed for breakfast please.
Beautiful location. Really nice rooms. The staff were amazing and very helpful.
We had a large family room which was ideal for our needs.
We experienced no problems whilst we were there.
The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help.
It was difficult to get the shower to the right temperature. But it might have been me.
All very clean friendly staff great stay and great price
Na
Entertainment and bar staff And zorro the beautiful black lab
Great location . Towels and bedding spotless . Friendly staff .
Nothing
Everything was fine and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Help was offered to my wife with her bag which was helpful as the old building has narrow corridors and we'll worn stairs
Nothing in particular but it is the first time that we have been asked to pay a supplement for others in the room which I guess I must have overlooked when booking so this needs to be clearer and also the first time in my life, and I am in my seventies, when we have had to preauthorise a credit card in case we damaged or presumably took something from the premises. I thought this a little strange.
I didn't have an evening meal, but the breakfast was good and the morning staff were great.
My room, although clean was dated and a bit shabby.
Room is clean and comfortable and has all the equipment you'd expect. Food is excellent and plentiful as well as reasonably priced. There's also a resident dog, who keeps you company during your meal. Its like being at home. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Nothing to speak of really. Its an old building so stairs and corridor floorboards creak and its a quirky layout, so expect steep stairs, which with a case may need negotiating.
The food especially was outstanding ,from a shared platter at lunch , evening meal to breakfast .staff were chatty and friendly .
Probably only downside if im nit picking is hearing other people in their rooms ..
The bed was so uncomfortable to much noise upstairs
Apart from the bed and toilet
Everything. The rooms are lovely and clean and the beds are so comfortable. Beautiful location too.
Nothing.
Being accused of stealing a coat hanger and £15.00 being taken off my bank card without my consent ! I did not steal a coat hanger !
Lovely stay Staff very friendly Food was beautiful at night Breakfast very nice also Would recommend
Not as warm as it could have been
Lovely comfortable room. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Easy parking. Great location for Sherwood Forest.
Could do with better quality coffee in the room.
Very close to Centre Parcs where we spent the day at the Spa. Nice little village with other pubs and Chinese very close by
Drinks where really expensive. Gin and lemonade was over £8 as lemonade was little bottle.
Stunning building, friendly staff, lovely room, great food, lovely atmosphere.
The friendly staff
The narrow steep stairs
The food the staff especially the Michael the Chef and Mark on reception.
Breakfast was fab ! Room very basic but clean
Evening meal disappointing but staff apologetic Lots of dog poo in the car park , outside areas very untidy
Had such a pleasant stay all the staff were lovely, would definitely go back.
There was nothing I didn’t like except that he bed was small for two of us but everything else was great
Ideally placed for our needs.
Being accused of stealing a coat hanger and being charged £15.00 for it ! I don't like being called a thief and im not recompense the £15.00 I will be taking the matter further. I am appalled.
Breakfast was excellent
Perfect position for what weneeded
