Reviewed Apr 29, 2026We loved everything. The host Ruth went out of her way to accommodate a request. Even went to the shops and bought 4 options for non-slip shower mats as we had 3 pensioners (80-94 years) in our group. The place was perfectly clean, had comfortable beds with great clean bedding and had everything we needed. We will definitely be back. Just behind the dune of a beautiful beach. Nice stoep with braai area and the sound of the waves and birds all around.

Reviewed Feb 23, 2026The cottage we stayed in was fabulous with everything you needed to make your stay your own. From beach towels, beach umbrella, cooking facilities it had everything. The beach is on your doorstep, walking through the garden and up some steps, although you can walk the road way to avoid the steps. The garden of the cottage was enclosed so we could let our toddler freely play in the garden without a worry. The outside shower was appreciated after a trip to the beach to get rid of the sand. We would definitely stay again as it was fab!

Reviewed Dec 11, 2025Die Wohnung hat eine tolle Lage, direkt hinter einer Düne. Man geht über die Terrasse durch den Garten über die Düne nur wenige Meter und steht an einem langen, weißen Sandstrand mit schöner Meeresbrandung. Ein Traum. Wir haben mit Wein und Käse abends bis Mitternacht auf der Düne gesessen. Direkt neben der Wohnung ist die Pili Pili Beach Bar, wo wir gefrühstückt und auch mal abends gegessen haben. Von Sedgefield aus kann man gut viele Unternehmungen machen. Die Vermieterin war sehr herzlich und freundlich.
Es war alles schön!

Reviewed Nov 13, 2024We visited The Gull as a party of nine – six adults and three children aged 9 and 5 years, and 9 months. We occupied both the available cottage and apartment, so had the place to ourselves. I rate our stay as exceptional. The accommodation is excellent and well-maintained. It is right on the beach, i.e. one can walk through the garden gate, over a dune and one is at the sea-side. It was special to have a firepit to sit at in the evenings as a family. During the weekdays, the accommodation is cleaned by the staff, and there are fresh towels and linen on request. Ruth is a wonderful hostess. She is people-orientated and available to her guests. We would all highly recommend The Gull and rate it as 10/10.

There is an excellent restaurant next door where you can get breakfast, drinks, pizza, or a full meal. Access to the beach is from the yard--simply walk out the gate, hike over the dune and you're there. Sedgefield is a great little town. Make sure you get to the Wild Oats Farmers Market on Saturday morning. Great fun and food. Ruth lives in an adjacent building on site and is available when needed, and she is pleasant and easy to deal with.
