Striking setting and building, and grounds. Lovely relaxed design and style. Great terrace for breakfast and setting around the pools. Very helpful front desk staff. Went out of their way with recommendations and to help with bookings etc

Smallest bedroom I've ever stayed in. Barely room to walk around the bed, and no space to have case open. Minimal to no storage. V large balcony which was nice, but room so small I kept my open suitcase on the balcony for our 3 day stay as literally nowhere to unpack it or have it open to access clothes, other than out there! Breakfast staff quite inattentive. Slow to take coffee orders and milling about but cutlery missing, or no plates at buffet which they seemed a bit exasperated to be told rather than keen to fix Overall nice stay and lots we liked about it, but generous landings and sofas in hallways which were totally unused - just there to look nice - when you then have a tiny room, was a bit jarring. Some touches you would expect in hotel of this quality - conditioner in showers / good quality beach towels etc - were lacking, and so as lovely as it was, it felt expensive

Absolutely stunning location. Quiet and beautiful location in the middle of the vineyards. Welcome drink based on sweet Muscatel produced nearby. Well trained, polite and high standard presenting personnel. Marvellous ambience and views. Breakfast on the porch with my Wife. This memory stays with me for long.

All was fine. No remarks except the price of the stay itself which is challenging.

Tudo, desde o pequeno almoço, a localização entre vinhas e Serra da Arrábida. Todos os funcionários prestáveis. O quarto era muito bom e toda a área envolvente incrível.

Quando fizemos um passeio pelas áreas e fomos ver os cavalos verificamos que havia um cachorro num local de poucas condições sanitárias e preso. Não foi de todo o esperado e claramente a única coisa que nos deixou reticentes. Espero que possa ser resolvido porque pretendemos voltar um dia.

The hotels is clean and the staff are great. The grounds are a bonus to walk around and explore.

Rooms are small, but this is understood due to the age of the building. The adults only pool was not managed. Children and babies were at the pool at different times, and staff serving them didn't advise them to move to other pool. Signage of pool rules and shower location poor. Nearly every guest did not shower before entering the pool. This is understandable due to the location of signage and the fact that there is no signage for the shower and it is difficult to locate.

The location was really nice and the arrival stunning down a 150m driveway towards the low whitewashed buildings surrounded by vineyards. The hotel employees were very friendly.

We had booked the hotel as part of our 40th wedding anniversary celebrations and advised the hotel a few weeks prior to arrival. We received a note from the hotel thanking us for choosing Hotel Casa Palmela for such an important occasion and how much they looked forward to welcoming us. On arrival I was wished “Happy Birthday?!” We were assigned a standard room. No sign of an amenity ( aside from two dried up cookies ) and a welcome note that said “Dear Guest”……. The hotel is small, how many arrivals do they have?…….why no Dear Mr & Mrs B…… We booked dinner at the hotel restaurant a week ahead and received a message from the hotel the day prior to arrival advising us to book their restaurant……a little worrying? At dinner nobody knew that it was our wedding anniversary, the food was ok, presentation quite ordinary and prices quite high. Breakfast was good and the employees very friendly and welcoming. Check out was a non event. Nobody asked us about our stay. On the day of check in the online rate was €100.00 per night less than the rate we had paid. Rate fluctuations are expected but not over 70 % more! The hotel has an amazing history apparently but we never received any such information. Nothing in the room ( apart from horse riding lessons). There is a spa ( no information ) there are walks through the vineyards ( no information ). The hotel is surrounded by vineyards but they do not make their own wine. Apparently they belong to the Fonseca winery, their vineyard is close by ( no information ) This hotel is part of “ Small luxury hotels of the world”. They are very lucky to be included as our stay was very underwhelming and the lack of attention to detail is frightening!

Gostamos muito da localização e da envolvência.

O quarto apresentava um cheiro a mofo que penso poderia ser resolvido com adequada ventilação ou outras estratégias. No quarto de banho poderiam acrescentar o condicionador para o cabelo. No pequeno almoço não me parece fazer sentido o custo adicional por determinado tipo de pedidos. Por último perto da zona dos cavalos encontramos um cãozinho jovem preso num espaço exíguo, gostaria que considerassem dar a liberdade que estes animais merecem para respeitar o seu bem estar

Beautiful property with 400 years of history. Warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are beautiful and well maintained. The restaurant was also superb. The views are breathtaking

O pequeno-almoço era muito bom. A casa é lindíssima, está muito bem decorada. Funcionários muito simpáticos e prestáveis. O quarto é muito confortável. Toda a envolvência da casa é muito bonita. Estar na piscina com silêncio foi definitivamente um plus.

A limpeza do quarto podia estar um pouco melhor. Quando abri a cama, tinha um cabelo que não era meu. O chão também estava mal aspirado, tinha unhas cortadas no chão que não eram nossas.

Die Lage war super, sehr nahe an den schönsten Stränden im Nationalpark. Das Frühstück war au super. Abendessen war auch gut. Wir hatten eine Villa, sie war gross und sehr schön eingerichtet. Das ganze Hotel hatte wirklich viel Charme. Das Personal war super zuvorkommend und mega lieb. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Leider hatten wir ein Ameisenproblem, was aber auch gleich behoben wurde und leider konnten wir nicht auf unserem Sitzplatz essen weil die Hunde vom Hotel dann die ganze Zeit auch etwas davon haben wollten.

O hotel é bonito e agradável, e os funcionários foram muito simpáticos e prestáveis durante toda a estadia. No entanto, o quarto apresentava cheiro a humidade, o que acabou por comprometer o conforto e tornar a estadia menos agradável. Apesar da simpatia e disponibilidade da equipa, considero que esta questão deveria ser melhorada.

O facto de o pequeno almoço ter uma carta de pedidos com custo adicional. Tendo em conta o preço do hotel não me parece que se justifique e, sobretudo, não cai bem aos hospedes.

Incredible property. Breathtaking views in the vineyards. The room was amazing and clean. They even gave us wine and snacks as compliment as my partner had his birthday during our stay. There’s walking trails in the vineyards and pools you could chill by. The board games in the lobby were also very entertaining. The restaurant is also super good and the food was incredible. Staff was very friendly and made our stay unforgettable

Su localización es preciosa. Tienen cargador para coches eléctricos lo que es muy de agradecer cuando viajas con un coche tipo Tesla. La piscina para niños está súper bien cuidada.

O pequeno almoço era divinal, sumo de laranja exactamente como eu gosto. As almofadas são um sonho. O chuveiro é incrível. A vista sobre as vinhas e da serra são bastantes relaxantes. Gostámos muito do cão dos proprietários (wisdom se não me engano) o jantar: arroz de lagosta e camarão fora de serie.

De ter ficado só uma noite, apesar de ter sido a noite dos meus anos.

Casa Palmela ist der perfekte Ort, um sich zu erholen. Das Personal tut ebenfalls alles, um den Aufenthalt so gut wie nur möglich zu machen. Wer die Möglichkeit hat, sollte unbedingt eine Massage in Anspruch nehmen.

Das Frühstück hätte etwas abwechslungsreicher sein können. Klagen auf hohem Niveau :-)

El acceso es peligroso, al cruzar una carretera general para entrar y despues hay que rodar por un camino rural, sin asfaltar, unos 300 metros, con el consiguiente polvo y suciedad para el vehiculo. No se atienden las peticiones de la reserva.

me he alojado 3 días en el hotel con mi pareja. La experiencia ha sido maravillosa y sin duda repetiría más veces. Las habitaciones son magnificas, espaciosas y con detalles muy cuidados, como el regalo de bienvenida con una nota escrita a mano. Las instalaciones y el entorno están tan cuidados como el interior. El restaurante es muy agradable y el personal encantador. Un lugar para desconectar y disfrutarlo

Solo hubo un pequeño detalle que me llamo la atención. la primera mañana que vinieron a hacer la habitación, no vaciaron las papeleras.

As espreguiçadeiras da piscina das crianças estavam a precisar de manutenção. Tinham ferros a sair, que me causarm uma ferida. Muitas moscas no espaço das piscinas. Não estava agradável. Preços muito elevados para comida e bebida. Achei o preço do alojamento muito acima do que oferece.

This is an excellent hotel for comfort, food & drink, service and ambience.

The location couldn’t be better. About 15 minutes to the center of town. The hotel sits on a lovely vineyard and is surrounded by the Arrabida natural preserve and near to all the famous vineyards like Bacalhôa and Jose Maria da Fonseca. Dinner service and menu are excellent, compliments to the chef. Breakfast is also delicious. Rooms are a little outdated but go with the ambiance of the hotel.

Breakfast was good but after 4 days became a bit boring. Maybe switch it up every 3-4 days.

the overall condition of the hotel was deeply concerning. There was graffiti outside the entrance, and the property itself is visibly deteriorating—peeling paint, neglected structures, and a general lack of maintenance everywhere. The so‑called “spa” is an abandoned trailer sitting in the middle of unkept grounds, which is not only misleading but unacceptable for a brand positioned as luxury. The “concierge” service is nonexistent. Guests are directed to a shed next to the stables, in poor condition, where a third‑party salesperson aggressively pushes basic experiences that should be included in the stay, such as simple bikes. The hotel advertises beach access, yet the beach cannot be reached unless guests pay 100 euros per day for a drop‑off and pick‑up service. During our four‑night stay, we never saw the beach. The property has an event house that sits unused, despite its potential to serve as a playroom or game room—anything to give guests something to do. The adult pool has a maximum of eight chairs, and the kids’ pool sits on a tacky platform covered with plastic grass where bees nest underneath. We also reported a bee hive inside the bell next to our door, and nothing was addressed until the last day. When my niece was stung, staff responded with cookies, minimizing a serious incident. Setúbal itself is not a destination I would ever choose again—run down, industrial, and lacking meaningful sites. I had to drive 1.5 hours each way to other towns just to find activities for my family. After complaining about the basement room, I was moved to the Moscatel Villa, which smelled like sewer and was old, tired, and moldy. Breakfast quality was also far below SLH standards. The staff, to their credit, were courteous and tried their best, but the property is severely mismanaged, neglected, and does not resemble anything close to luxury. A cama não estava bem feita, os lençóis não estavam bem presos. A este nível não pode acontecer.

The air con was quite noisy

A truly wonderful hotel with so many thoughtful touches that made our 3 days stay feel unique. The breathtaking views, exceptional staff, spotless cleanliness, and personalized service impressed us from the very first moment. Every detail has been carefully considered, and the level of hospitality is simply outstanding. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Really lovely vineyard location in the National Park, which can be enjoyed when dining on the terrace. Very friendly staff and good service. Great breakfast buffet. Good horse riding. Close to the coast. Nice rooms.

The food was ok, but could be better for a hotel of this generally high standard. The wine glasses could be better quality (eg Riedel) for a fuller enjoyment of the wine. Breakfast coffee could be improved, e.g. by having one or two modern coffee machines for self service by guests.

Location was stunning sandwiched between two mountains and not far from gorgeous sandy beaches (a drive away). Staff were particularly friendly and helpful. A special for Miguel who was so lovely and hospitable and went the extra mile for us with a smile on his face, but everyone was fabulous. Breakfasts were fantastic, and dinner outside on the terrace was sublime.
