While we thank the staff for their time, there are important areas that need management's attention: ​Billing: We were charged more at the property than the agreed Booking.com booking price. ​Bed Quality: The setup was two single beds placed together rather than a proper double, and the frame made continuous creaking sounds when moving. ​Food Policy: We were told outside food cannot be brought to the room and must be ordered exclusively through the hotel, which felt overly restrictive. ​We hope these points are addressed to provide a more restful and transparent experience for future travelers.

Staffs are so friendly. They made my stay so comfortable and easy. Food was wow and tasty. Nice place to stay.

Stayed here for one night after landing at the airport. Was very clean and lots of space in the room. Staff were lovely.

Quite far from the airport and about 40 mins from central Colombo. Shower was cold and the trains were very loud during the night.

Ruptop bar supposed to close at 12am. There was loud music and other noice keep break my sleep. It’s was continue I believe up to 3 or 4pm. I was in 2nd floor room. Directly under the rooftop bar.

The beach is just opposite the resort. Crossing a train trail will reach Lavinia beach. Few restaurants along the beach. 30mnts to the city centre by Tuttut. Staff is friendly and helpful. I got no small note to pay TutTut, the staff borrow me some small notes to settle the bill. Room cleans, cozy and cold.

The water pressure is Really Low!! Takes time to get bath and the water is cold even heater is on. Slow wifi. Small ants crawling in the bathroom and on the desk.

Die Lage ist direkt am Strand , man muss lediglich die Bahnschienen überqueren . Das Essen im Hotel ist sehr gut und reichhaltig . Das Personal ist freundlich.

Ein Föhn und einer kleiner Kühlschrank wären eine Bereicherung.

Great hotel with a very comfortable, clean room with a hot shower! Location minutes from the beach and by the train line. Easy access to Colombo by Grab, train and bus, and we used here as a base for visiting the city. We stayed an extra night as a Grab to the airport only took an hour. Great staff who were friendly and helpful and we ate at the hotel for breakfast and dinner at very reasonable prices. A sociable area for sitting downstairs with a pool table. We would stay again if in the area.

Perhaps the management might consider daily water in the rooms but this is nitpicking!

Nice and very kind stuff! Wonderful location, tasty food, 5 min to the beach, groceries and bus stations are 10 min by foot from the hotel.

The hotel in general was a little rundown and is in need of a refurbishment I did not like walking in the front door and having a pool table greet me.

Vriendelijke personeel, prima kamer met balkon. Ja de trein dendert meermaals per dag langs het hotel en dat hoort en voel je in je kamer, maar dat weet je als je een hotel naast een spoor boekt 😅 je loopt het spoor over en staat op het strand. Verder is er weinig te doen in de omgeving Je kan er ontbijten, lunchen, dineren. Basic maar prima.

Niedriger Wasserdruck, Eisenbahn fährt direkt vor dem Haus, fährt aber nachts nicht

Gute Lage nah am Strand. Sehr freundliches Personal macht alles möglich.

Die Nähe zu der Bahnstrecke läßt die Züge gefühlt durchs Zimmer fahren. Ich fands nett. Empfindliche Menschen könnten sich daran stören.

Perfect place by the beach and still near Colombo

Location is good staff good food is ok but room in side no TV so very boring other evening is ok.

the silence around and the clam vibe that given through the atmosphere around, the point we were check in we were calmly welcomed to the place and gave clear instructions as a usual manner. what I totally noticed was the place is good if someone willing be clam and better vibe which I also wanted, foods are there I tried them also great. well cleaned. specially the washrooms are properly maintained. there rooms are big enough, the roof top also a great place to rest the night. i think that the view and the vibe so unique to the place when I compare other hotels around. Trains, Sea, beach in a single frame.

Room number 1: Spacious, balcony, great location just a 1 minute walk from the beach, a restaurant and a rooftop bar with a nice view of the beach and sunset, friendly staff, big bed.

The trains passing by just next to the hotel are quite noisy.

Das Zimmer war sauber und die Lage war sehr. Alles gut zu erreichen. Wir haben nach unserer Ankunft auf Sri Lanka hier einen Zwischenstopp für zwei Nächte eingelegt.

Located right near the train line, so there is noise coming very often through the night. It didn’t bother me personally, but might irritate some people.

The staff were incredibly friendly and always quick to resolve any questions or issues that came up.

There were a few issues in the room: the water in the shower was barely running, there was no shampoo provided, and the balcony looked quite worn and shabby.

Clean, friendly and helpful staff - even our very late check in. Don’t miss the breakfast on the rooftop with a view over the train line to the beach.

Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is prima. De eigenaar spreekt geweldig Engels. Hij kookt zelf en dat doet hij echt geweldig. Zelden zo lekkere Kottu gegeten. Personeel is zeer behulpzaam en vriendelijk.

Nice room far from traffic chaos, friendly staff

The property is about 50m from beach. One can enjoy the view of the Indian Ocean from the rooftop while enjoying food. There's a train track running close and is a source of entertainment. Every time a train passes, we were running to the balcony like kids. Breakfast is not included. All meals have to be paid, which is fine. The Chef Madhu is a good cook. He customised the menu for our Indian taste. The owner Mrs. Stephanie is very cordial, always smiling, and is a professional. She works personally and supervised most of the works. It was our last place of stay in Sri Lanka, and we rested a lot. Made a couple of visits to the beach and the city. The city is located about 15 km. Tuk Tuks and Cars are available and we used Uber.

The floor of room 2 and 3 are made of very old tiles.

The receptionist was exceptionally understanding and accommodating. I stayed here on the st Valentine's night before my flight and the receptionist warned me that the hotel was fully booked and might be loud due to the celebration, but i didn't hear anything and had a great sleep before my departure

Not sure why it's a 'deluxe' room..? No TV , no tea making facilities , lights above the bed and on the balcony didn't work.

The staff were very helpful and polite. The breakfast was very good. No problem at all with check in and check out.

The Mount Bay Guesthouse became our second home! We stayed there twice during our stay in Sri Lanka - 2 minutes away from the beach. At our arrival the owners Steph and Sam welcomed us with open hearts and hospitality at its best! The rooms are very clean, the service is excellent and in the guesthouse has also a nice restaurant with the best and friendliest chef. Sam is also doing his own chili sauce, so spice lovers can just ask for a little extra spice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The new menu is excellent, good portioned and the food tastes like heaven. I can really recommend the whole fish - super fresh and spicy! The whole staff was super nice and helped us with anything from transfers or recommendations for things to do! We became instant friends and discovered so many things in common. They even took us to the pool at the Mount Lavinia Hotel and introduced us to their friends. We had an incredibly good time and laughed a lot. That‘s why they invited us for their NYE party at the rooftop of the guesthouse (free entry), which has an excellent view on the beach. Amazing people, tasty food, good music and a nice view on the fireworks - what a blast! Thank you, dear Sam and Steph! You and your guesthouse have touched our hearts! Keep this spirit up and hope to see you soon! This was definitely not our last visit!

Very nice staff, clean , simple guest house with a great roof top terrace with a view of lavinia beach. Its a 1min walk across the train line to the beach, the beach has some rubbish but u are on the cleaner side. Its set in a local area with a variety of restaurants on the beach/main road. A good choice for a night or two travelling through Colombo.

Sooo.. these are the things that some people might not like. - the train noise, the line runs along the hotel, the line runs all the way down the coast , so if you want to be close to the beach you will hear trains.(we actually loved watching the trains go by). - the water pump on the roof will refill when ever anyone uses water, this was noisy in our room , we fixed the problem at night by using earplugs. - the WiFi was poor. -The beer and beverages weren't cold.(fridge needs turning up/replacing?)

It's just a small hotel, but clean and lovely hotel. it feels very comfortable and cool. The facilities are very convenient. They have everything you need, and the hotel is also near the beach. This gives me a comfortable and satisfying experience when I stay there for 3 days and food also delicious.

We had a great stay at MountBaylk! The rooms are recently renovated & really clean. The bathroom was also fantastic. The food is some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka thus far. Steph & Sam provided so many great recommendations of places & sites to visit across the country. The hotel is well situated just behind the beach, with amazing views (particularly at sunset) from the rooftop. Thanks Sam & Steph - would 100% recommend to anyone visiting Colombo, and would definitely stay again.

The rooms were clean, cozy, and well maintained, offering everything I needed for a comfortable stay! The location is unbeatable, right on the first line, close to the beach bars and within easy reach of everything you might need. All of this came at very fair price, which made it even better. ❤️

Just one incident one room on the top floor has leakage from the a/c, which could be easily fixed.

Spacious room, pleasant vibe, clean and convenient. The place offered all that we needed. We did not have time for breakfast, but they do have a menu with a variety of meals to choose from. Will surely come again.

Lovely location with well cleaned rooms and spacious washroom and toilet and very responsive host. Beautiful View of sea from Balcony and Super speed internet. Also can order food from them and it’s good . Also arranged a free parking thank you for that.

Nothing negative only it will be good for guests if having a small refrigerator and a TV but it’s not a big issue though compared to all positive things from this place

The location, you can reach the city easily by tuk tuk but the hotel is squeezed between buildings in a not so beautiful area
