Hangover Hostels Mirissa

Had a great stay with very supporting and helpfil team Minif and Dilshan.

The place is nice the guy is very helpful and nice

Absolute gem of a place! Had an incredible stay here. The vibes were amazing, the staff were super friendly, and the facilities were clean and comfortable. It's the perfect spot to meet fellow travelers. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

The care taker / manager Mr Nilhan, was a very strange man. I felt extreamly unsafe in his presence. He told me that his friend wants to take me for a bike ride at night for 1 hour, when I refused to go for the bike ride, his behaviour changed and he was extreamly rude, Additionally he was trying to be very touchy, but trying to hold my hand and come very close to me. I hostel is nice, the location of the hostel was also very nice but this man really needs to be replaced. I would not recommend this place to any one due to safety reasons.

Good location, Ancle is nice. We are so happy to enjoy new year party here.

Nothing.

La habitación privada era cómoda y la ubicación muy buena.

Los espacios comunes no eran cómodos y no tiene vida social

It is very well located, you get access to the beach and local transport very easily. Also there are activities planned for each one, so that you dont feel alone or miss out on parties.

Beds were super comfy, staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and fun activities in the evening like going out for dinner, sunset walks and games

Amazing hostel right in front of the beach They have daily activities, so it’s super fun and easy to meet people. The breakfast is delicious, the beds are really comfortable, and the AC works perfectly (which is a must here).

The online reviews misguided us totally. There was only one staff who didn’t know anything about the whereabouts. No suggestions/recommendations were given about the nearby places. There were no people only. No scenes in evening. Totally wasted our money.

worst manager, the old guy.

nothing was good at all

Best hostel I had in Sri Lanka, great atmosphere, really easy to meet other travellers ! The localisation is perfect, 100m to the beach, coconut hills, turtle beach ! The hostel is clean and staff really nice, thank you for the family dinner ! Definitely come back again !!

Clean bathrooms, organised activities for those who wanted. a groupchat where the host sent messages of what was going on in Mirissa that day

L’emplacement est top et les chambres sont très propres et confortable

Bit noisy bc the main road.

The amenities are great especially for its price. Hot shower and WiFi. Great vibes and events. Everyone is so friendly.

The staff was not cooperative, did not provide us information we sought despite multiple requests. The owner is a nice guy but the staff is absolutely terrible.

Location and the cleaning

No hostel vibs

スタッフが優しくて居心地良かった

Opposite to the beach, really short walk. Good crowd.

Would be nice if the beds in the dorms had curtains since the beds are kinda cramped in together. Also there’s loud music playing all day for no particular reason.

Very close to the beach and only a short walk to the restaurants. The staff were super lovely and welcoming. They arranged a really nice family dinner for all of the guests, the Sri Lankan food was delicious and it was a good chance to be social with other travellers. The laundry service was good and very fast.

The rooms were quite basic and the bathroom could really do with a deep clean as the shower curtain had what looked like months of build up on it which wasn’t very pleasant. Very close to the main road which kept us awake.

Nice and clean hostel in a reasonable price. Staffs were helpful and good. Can arrange Tuk Tuk or different activities for you.

The staff, the location and they are extremely helpfull with almost anything & everything.

Nothing specific

Außenbereich, Community area

Badezimmer schimmelt. Für die zweite Nacht wurde mir ein 10% Rabatt vom Booking Preis angeboten —> war schlussendlich gleicher Preis bzw sogar höher

Location is top. Liked family dinner and manager approach.

It’s actually not that much about the hostel but i ended up (female) in a room with 3 men..which was a bit akward. Also one man was snoring whole nights and those nights were sleepless for me :/

Amazing staff and clean rooms. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. The staff were very helpful, friendly and kind. Great location, close to the main street, shops and beach. A great place to stay and meet other solo travellers. The toilets and showers are cleaned regularly and have always been very clean. The best thing about this place by far is the staff. They are all amazing and eager to help you with any issues or give you advice. The manager is one of the nicest people and is always there to help you out or make you feel welcome. He gave me a lot of recommendations for things to do and see while here and was always eager to help me out. He couldn't have been better!

Sucio, instalaciones pobres

Amazing place with amazing staffs, will make sure you have everything you need

I think the location is very good and convenient. Basically in front of the beach

WiFi was bad, air conditioning kept turning on/off, there was some power outages a few times, and the bathroom has no floor mat so it’s gets very wet and never really dries

The location was good.

The room was dirty, full of dust and mould. The sheets were stained, the air conditioning unit was mouldy. There was no option to open the curtains as the window faced the courtyard, giving you no privacy. The room was also way smaller than the description suggests. I arrived very late at night and had no option but to stay the night. The next morning, I immediately spoke to the manager and said I am moving out. He made me pay for two nights and told I am not allowed to leave a negative review. When I raised an issue with Booking.com, the manager refused to cooperate with them and issue the refund for an extra night I didn’t stay. The worst experience I’ve had in all of Sri Lanka.

Excellent location and the host makes a big effort to help everyone have a good time even when the hostel was very quiet in the offseason

Location very close to the beach with great staff accommodating vacationers and making our stay a pleasant one.

Dorm Washroom had no water pressure.

Stayed in the 4 bed female dorm for 4 nights and had a great time. The hostel is steps away from the beach and walking distance to some really great restaurants. The room I stayed in had its own bathroom and AC which was major compared to the hangover in Ella. The beds were comfortable and the room was cleaned each day I was there. The family dinner was great the 2 times it happened but the pregame before the “pub crawl” could have been better. It was very boring (card games/jenga) and did not really hype up or get everyone in the mood or the night. The parties in the area are a hit or miss depending on the type of music you enjoy. Other than that, the workers are very kind and provided me with information on how to get back to negombo.

My experience here was amazing from start to finish due to the kindness and hospitality of all who work there as well as a very clean and comfortable hostel! Great location on the main street of Mirissa. Thanks so much to Isu and Harsha for making the stay so memorable and a big shout out to Chandni the greatest volunteer ever! I will be back whenever I return to Mirissa!

Asanth was so kind and helpful in every way possible. His family dinner was delicious. The evenings had activities and it was very easy to meet people.

Little bit expensive.

The staff was very friendly, they entertained my check-in at 0330

Cool hostel! The rooms were clean and everything was closeby. Met some cool fun people here!!

Location

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Hangover Hostel in Mirissa, and I honestly can't recommend it. The place had a lot of potential, but it completely fell short in almost every way. First off, the cleanliness was appalling. The bathrooms were dirty, and there was an unpleasant smell throughout the common areas. The sheets felt unwashed, and I even found a few stains on them. The room was basic, but not in a charming, minimalist way—instead, it just felt rundown and neglected. I had more than 30 mosquito bites every night, no mosquito net. The dorm is so small you can barely walk on the Flor. Very small window. The staff was another huge letdown. Not only were they unhelpful, but they also seemed disinterested in providing any sort of service. There was a general lack of hospitality, and whenever I asked for recommendations or assistance, they either ignored me or gave half-hearted answers. It's as if they were more focused on their own issues than guest satisfaction. The noise level was unbearable. The hostel is supposedly a "party" hostel, but the noise went on until early in the morning, and it made it impossible to sleep. If you're looking for rest, this is definitely not the place for you. On top of all that, the location, while close to the beach, didn't make up for the lack of basic comforts and hospitality. With so many other places in Mirissa to choose from, I can't imagine why anyone would willingly stay here. Overall, I left feeling frustrated and exhausted. For the price, I expected much better. I would definitely not return, and I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are definitely better options In the area to choose from.

The social host chandini was amazing and did a very good job. The general manager was also a really kind and helpful guy. We enjoyed the stay with them a lot.

Really a chill place to stay. The staff is really nice and the manager Sarath is always there with a smile to help you with everything. They organise even karaoke, and other activities to make everyone feel home. For sure it's worth coming if you are in mirissa. 👌

Nice place to visit Mirissa Beach, Parrot Rock, Coconut Tree Hill, Secret Beach, Jungle party on Saturday. The Manager was very helpful and supportive. I recommend to stay in this hostel.

The location. The staffs and its very clean

Great staff and well located, they even have some social activities to take part in like community dinner. Lovely vibe and great place! highly recommend!

Location and staff were really friendly

The manager Sarath is the best host you could ask for. He really likes to look after his guests in a fun and comfortable environment. I would highly recommend staying here. Location wise you only have to cross the road to gain access to the beach, ideal for those relaxing days. There are organized nights out to the doctors house from the hostel which brings a fun party aspect as well if that is what you also look for.

Lovely staff. Lovely location. Lovely people.

Hygiene. Ie cockroaches in the shower room, insects in the toilets etc.

Only the location. You cross the road and you are at Mirissa beach

The entire hostel was not clean. There were ants in the room and the washrooms. The bed was dilapidated. Electricity was getting disconnected often. There was only 1 helper and cleaning was not done regularly. The door of our room was dilapidated and we had to lock it in order to shut it. It was a super bad experience and the owners seriously needs to improve the hostel. Photos of the hostel shared on booking.com are misleading My experience was aweful

The rooms are really comfortable and clean and the location was perfect. Love the vibe and very social place.

I liked everything

Good location

management forgot to block the beds after one night. so ensure you book for all dates before going on booking.com.

The bestest hosts ensured my stay was super fun, and made sure I had a good time :D Near to the beach and very good location. Awesome vibes, got to know a lot of new people. Facilities are good too, nothing bad noteworthy.

Nothing major, all was good )

I liked everything about this hostel. It is very well located, just some steps away from the beach; the rooms are comfortable; so are the beds in the dorms. The managers of this hostel are great people too. Nilhan and Sarath run this hostel very well; they are constantly making sure everything is ok and are very sociable and willing to help. They even organized a game night at the hostel one Friday and then a shared dinner one Saturday. I met many fellow travelers at this hostel and would definitely stay here again when in Mirissa! 10 out of 10!

Nice place, great owner and breakfast!

Location is perfect and the breakfast was good. AC in the room and the common area was nice 🙂 good bathroom with hot shower. The manager was very friendly and helpful! And it was clean, so I recommend this place.

Room was a bit small at least for 6 people.

The hostel owner was incredibly welcoming, and you could always have free tea and coffee whenever you wanted, which I rarely saw in hostels during my time in Sri Lanka. There was a great social vibe, and we had a lot of fun together. All the main attractions were within walking distance, and the room, bathroom, and toilet were all clean. The bed was comfortable as well.

Rooms are comfy, staff is great, and other travelers are friendly and nice! Location is close to everything.

One of the best hostels I've been to. The staff is just amazing, really nice and helpful. Location is perfect, just across the road from the beach. Good place for socializing, they sometimes organise activities and meals ( which were also amazing, the curry buffet was incredible). The rooms were clean, mattress was very comfortable.

I liked everything about the place

Basic room in a sweet, family style hostel! Perfect locations just a minute from the beach, shops and restaurants close by. Sarath and Nilhan are taking good care of the guests! They hosted a family dinner for us and arranged for pre drinks and transportation to a party. Laundry service, easy access to rent scooters and contact to surf schools possible :)

The street can be loud at night, but we knew that before.

Everything is more than perfect, the owners, the place, the activities. I really recommend Hangover hostel for anybody looking to have very cool vibes.

The manager was really very helpful and he even took care of my laptop throughout the night when I came back too drunk!! It's a social hostel and the fellow travellers are also welcoming. Great location just a stone's throw distance from the beach.

Nice hostel, quiet in November. Very friendly host ans great location by the beach.

Please fix the bathroom light :)

Good location, wonderful staff, walking distance to Coconut Tree Hill and parrot rock very close to it. You also can walk to the secret beach which is nice. There are some good public beaches and beach side restaurants. Nice place.
