The House & Jockey was very clean & Staff were amazing would recommend

Breakfast was really great lots of choice had an evening meal the cottage pie was the best ever staff were young but so polite and good at there jobs the room was huge there was a bit of noise but nothing too bad shower was also huge booked in the spur of the moment coming from Chester and wanting to add a couple of days extra to our holiday and could not have been any happier

Bed was soft but could feel the springs at the side really could do with updating but saying that didn't effect our sleep

Bit too child friendly for us. Lots of inflatable bouncy things for children which caused more noise than we’d like.

Staff were friendly and extremely accommodating, particularly the chef and restaurant staff. The room was clean and well designed. Shower was particularly good. Beds were comfortable and room had all the facilities you need. Essentially the hotel does everything it says it will do and has extremely helpful staff to boot. Inclusive breakfast.

Instant coffee for breakfast was a bit disappointing but that was about it. Some road noise from adjacent A6.

What a fabulous location and hotel. Rhe rooms have been finished to a high standard and are a great size with everything you need for a stay. The restaurant food was excellent and services even better.

Staff were so welcoming. All very young but still professional and went out of their way to look after you. The manager was also really nice. The room was so big, bigger than my own living room, and the parking was perfect. No noise problems from the pub downstairs, and the food was amazing.

It's in the middle or nowhere. Don't expect to be able to do anything nearby unless you drive. The flush on the toilet was a bit odd; you needed to press both buttons. And the internet was awful.

We stayed for the evening meal, but the menu didn't have enough choice. So I ended up having 2 starters, as there wasn't anything on the mains to my liking. I was going to have the pie but it was just mince meat. It was that evening meal that just let it down.

The staff "The Horse and Jockey Team" were exceptional. I would like to thank Darren, the manager, and the entire team for their outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, I left my essential asthma medication in my room after checking out. When I telephoned the hotel, the team acted immediately and kindly sent it to my home by First Class post. Remarkably, it arrived within 12 hours. I am extremely grateful for their prompt response, professionalism, and genuine care. This level of service is exceptional and greatly appreciated. Internal doors banging through night and early really disturbed sleep, breakfast chaotic , poorly managed no hot water , milk, messy tray full of tea and teabags , no cups/ glasses used tables not cleared , hardly any staff - one young girl apologised when I commented and she said they had been busy - - try getting breakfast times allocated when checking in - no one available to check out so just left key card on bar

Amazing clean room, can’t beat having aircon in the rooms in weather like we’ve been having, really saved our time away after spending the previous night in another sweltering hotel and nearly throwing in the towel. Food was lovely, great portions and quality for breakfast. We had some sides in the pub which were really good.

No toilet brush…we don’t really want to look at each others toilet marks during our stay 😅 and bathroom bins could really do with a lid for us ladies. Our room backed onto houses, so some net curtains so we could have windows and curtains open and retain some privacy would have been nice.

All of the staff made us feel very welcome, which was lovely after a very stressful day. The air conditioning was more than what we expected it to be and such a welcome relief from this heat. We would most likely stay again due to our experience.

It was immaculately clean, but the carpets had ingrained dirt no doubt from the walkers.

A lovely, clean room with a modern shower. All staff I encountered were excellent. The only critisism is I had steak for dinner and when I asked for dijon mustard was told they didn't stock it because not enough people ask for it! A little strange I thought? Breakfast was excellent.

Cheap toilet roll! The toilet flush was difficult to use (very stiff) Without the air con, the room was always very hot and stuffy. No "Do Not Disturb" hanger.

We visited the Horse and Jockey for an overnight stay in the Peak District. Away from the main attractions, the price matched our budget and turned out to be excellent value for money. Ample free parking . Our double room was very large, modern and spotlessly clean, with welcome air conditioning (it was 28C outside!) , tea/coffee, tv, wi-fi and basic toiletries. Obviously, the rooms seem to have been recently refurbished. Our friends 'single' room was actually a good sized double. The rooms were quiet and comfortable, despite a well attended England match in the main bar and outside seating area. Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order and all served by friendly, efficient staff. Overall, a perfect, budget friendly hotel for a weekend away or business trip.

Good breakfast but the tea/coffee provision was very poor. Expect proper coffee or a teapot to make tea in, not a small cup with instant coffee or a tea bag.

The whole place was exceptionally clean ,the staff were all very polite and helpful. They showed great care with our special dietary requirements. It was very easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit . Would definitely return if in the area

Not much of a view over looking a housing estate and a flat roof. The dining are we were directed was at a basement level with no phone signal (some might prefer this lol)

We have stayed before because the location is good, the staff are friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean with everything you need, apart from bottled water which tends to be the norm in most hotels. The food is very good with an excellent choice on the menu. The young waiting/serving staff in the restaurant in the evening worked really hard and were very attentive to our needs, they paid particular attention to asking about allergies.

The only downside was at breakfast the poor waitress was run off her feet, could have done with having another member of staff on duty as too much for one person.The restaurant was quite busy and breakfast took a long time to arrive.

Our stay at The horse and Jockey was wonderful. All the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The accommodation was lovely and spacious. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. 10 out of 10.

Spotlessly clean, all of the staff are very pleasant and attentive, even when the restaurant is busy. Toiletries supplied, body wash, shampoo and body lotion. Couldn't fault it!

Only one small thing, The bed was too hard for me but that is a personal thing, as my husband was fine with it.

Poor pillows…horrible foam. 1 pillow is too low, 2 pillows gave me both neck and head aches. There can be a bit of a wait at the bar during busy periods.

Our only disappointment was for the price point of the room , the coffee offering in the room and at breakfast was poor. A proper coffee machine at breakfast and a capsule machine in the rooms. A sachet of Nescafé doesn’t quite fit. It’s more budget hotel.
