Incredible views! Comfortable bed

Breakfast included option, but the breakfast is not located on sight. Rather a cafe 250m walk away. Although the breakfast was lovely and the owners were very accommodating, I felt it was a bit cheeky to offer a breakfast included when it’s not on the property.

Very beautiful and quiet.

Wifi password needs to be somewhere in the room - we couldn't find it. Netflix wasn't working and staff member couldn't rectify this.

Lovely old house and looked well undated.

Aircon did not work but had an oil heater, breakfast offsite which was hidden until checked in with very little choice. Breakfast from 8am and second day I arrived at 7:58am and was turned away as they were not open yet! No milk in room for tea making, bathroom toilet roll holder falling off and in shower soap in pump bottle on the floor. I stayed two nights and room was not serviced.

The view overlooks the city and the garden is beautiful. Had the best facilities I’ve ever been to in a hotel.

Absolutely stunning accommodation, we stayed in the suite and it was Devine. Clean and tidy room with beautiful views and gardens. Would definitely stay again.

Loved the views of the city. Super easy check in and out. Shared areas were beautiful and spacious. Breakfast at the cafe was delicious. Would recommend to friends and family.

Shame that the bar wasn't operational as a drink in the beautiful lounge would have really upgraded the experience. Toilet paper was passable but cheap. Gym was freezing cold.

It’s a gorgeous place, good sized rooms

I booked the stay for my wife to relax and unwind but when she arrived, there was no staff on site and the room key she was provided was for a room inferior to the one booked. When she managed to contact the staff about this, the room I had booked was not clean and there weren't any others of that level available. There has been no communication to rectifying the situation and I find the audacity to assume that it would just be over looked, quite telling.

Beautiful location, atmospheric common area and stunning scenery/views. Decent value. Ample parking.

We requested an upper level suite and this was confirmed by email. However, we were given a lower level suite. The windows in our room needed cleaning. Bathrobes were an inclusion with the booking but were not supplied.

This is an exceptional venue that provides guests with a truly unique experience of an early 20th gentleman's residence.

We made our own breakfast, but did have a lovely coffee in dining area

The view is fantastic and such a peaceful place to stay. The room and property was spacious and clean. Only a short drive into town. Not really any staff around but that wasn't an issue.

Very strange set up. No staff to welcome you upon arrival - just a key left on desk -and the place was spookily quiet which gave the place an air of the Shining! The kitchen was open to use but was an industrial / catering kitchen and breakfast was not an option - all very odd. Also - our room was large and comfortable however the door to the garden did not lock.

The Location was great for us as we had a 21st birthday party at Longhurst drive. No Breakfast supplied and we didn't bring any but facilities where there for us to use

A Nespresso machine would have been another nice touch.

This was our first pit stop in Christchurch for a night before we started our roadtrip towards Queenstown and it was such a good shout! The check in was seamless and the stay was very pleasant! The suite was refreshing with its beautiful conservatory area to take in the sunrise. A spacious delight with lovely grounds!

Paid for Breakfast - instead of breakfast we got some random items of Food in the fridge. Really dissapointing. There was a bread but no butter or spread. Instead we had some pies, mixed nuts, snacks. Also just 2 coffee pods for two days for two people and only two bottles of water for two days. Not very luxurious.

The property was central to wat we wanted to do and very comfortable

It's minor but would've been nice to have some milk in fridge for coffee. As it happened we had some with us from previous stay.

I loved the serenity of it all being in a beautifully kept vintage building with impressive gardens .

The view, large room with a large bathroom and a very large shower (but only one shower head). Only 11 rooms.

Shower leaked under the door like crazy. Either no fan or couldn't get the fan to work. The grounds had potential, but needed some work with weeding and thinning, etc... The industrial kitchen was disorganized and just didn't look clean. The laundry room had 2 broken machines, and only one smaller/stacked washer and dryer that worked, and also didn't look very clean. Found one ant in the bathroom, a spider on the wall. The mini fridge was relatively noisy. No microwave in the room. Laundry appeared to be laid out to dry in a closed off room. Some mattresses were out on the patio appearing to be drying out for some reason.

The house was gorgeous and well kept, beautiful gardens and plenty of spaces to park. Good facilities in the room.

You will need a car to reach this hotel situated in the hills, but the room is well worth the drive!

No milk for tea

The view from our room was fantastic. The hotel is high on a hill and has a great view of the town below. The rooms are large, luxurious, and comfortable. It was close to a bus stop that went straight downtown, which I appreciated so I didn’t need to drive on busy streets and worry about parking. The hotel is quite a way from anything, but there was one nice little restaurant called Arlo that had good food and was inexpensive. I would have gone here twice, but they were closed the second day.

The only negative is that it is out of town, so you have to drive or take public transportation to do anything. However, the place is very nice and worth the effort.

Sehr ruhig über der Stadt gelegen. Die nette Dame am Empfang war sehr hilfreich und hat mir die Waschmaschine und den Trockner gezeigt. Beides durfte ich kostenfrei nutzen. Die Geräte sahen neuwertig und sauber aus und haben einwandfrei funktioniert. Die Kondenswasserschublade sollte man jedoch immer prüfen. Sie war randvoll. Nicht viele Leute kennen das Prinzip, da Ablufttrockner vieler Orts üblicher sind und daher die Kondenswasserschublade ein fremdes Konzept. Ein Zettel an der Maschine würde helfen. Das Zimmer war geräumig, ruhig und sehr sauber. Toller Blick über Christchurch. Ein nettes Restaurant ist in 3 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen ebenso ein Café.

Beautiful property, like stepping back in time! Sitting in the lounge area felt so luxurious and was a great way to unwind at the end of the day. Our room was so spacious- wish we could have spent more time there. Very comfortable bed and lovely view from the bed over the glorious garden. The location was perfect for us as we had a car. Such a spectacular view over Christchurch, especially at night.

It would have been good to have a door that locked properly, although at no point did we feel unsafe. Some more lighting over the kitchen area would be helpful, rather than just holes where the down lights were meant to be. Similarly, a few globes in the bathroom were blown, but that’s such an easy fix, and so minor compared to the overall comfort of the place!

Lack of informative staff. Nobody to welcome you/check you in and explain the hotel setup. Breakfast in particular is down the road. People must remember it is all about customer service and do not rely on people to read any instructions.

Onsite parking. The staff were helpful once engaged and offered complementary room cleaned once during our 6 day stay.

Lack of facilities ie. No tea towel, no wine glasses, tv not working properly, although staff responded and resolved, you pay extra to get your room cleaned - which is something not experienced before.
