The villa was immaculate!!! The staff, the service, the meals, the attention to detail. We loved everything about it.

The best features of this hotel are the building history and location. A fifteenth-century estate on a Chianti hilltop, an infinity pool set against the vineyards, and gardens tended within an inch of their life. Couple this with a working cellar bottling the house's own Chianti’s and Super-Tuscans, you’ll be happy with what you’ve come for.

This property is great if you’re looking for nothing more than a stunning pool, tasty pasta, and a good glass of Italian wine. However, sadly, that’s where the positive review ends. The in room and property facilities, the skills of most service staff, the overall decor, and the food and beverage offering all need some TLC. If that happens, then you’ll have an experience that matches the location. Until then, I wouldn’t personally return.

So I dont drive and taxis for 10min are 150euros and impossible to book. If they had like their own van would have been great. Also you dont have much terrain and spa was closed, just a small restaurant so is cute for a a day but gets boring. Exceptional staff though, I should have picked maybe a bigger more central place

Francesco and his team were superstars in looking after us and we loved the wine tasting experience. The setting is beautiful and someone always around to assist and make the experience so relaxing and enjoyable. My husband and I loved our stay here. Thank you!

BUT Attic rooms have no window whatsoever. You are not advised of this when booking. You cannot enjoy the view. Specifically booked to coincide with 30th Wedding Anniversary and hotel advised well in advance. No acknowledgement on arrival and no quiet table as requested for our celebratory dinner. Food is of a reasonable standard but is nothing of note and be ware it arrives very much on the cool side - every meal. Rooms have no tea/coffee facilities. The mini bar has no wine or spirits and in the room you have only water glasses. In attic room there is no lighting for makeup and the toiletries provided are miniatures and not replenished. Reception staff are rude and curt - though service staff are pleasant. This is NOT a five star venue. I privately approached the venue with my disappointment but they never even acknowledged my email despite promptly replying to other enquiries I made before my stay. I would never recommend nor return much much better places to spend this kind of money.

The property’s small scale (I’d guess no kore than 30 guests at a time) made for highly personalized service and staff getting to know our preferences and routine. Francesco, Cher Vincenzo, and Pierre were especially welcoming hosts and elevated our experience. We stayed in the Exec Suite, which was great for our family of 4 (two small kids) and the grounds have plenty of space for running around (or having a small family wedding!).

Absolutely no complaints. Some folks may wish for a bit more basic gear in the workout room (yoga mats, jump rope) and a hot tub would be great!

The most beautiful place I have ever visited! We went here for our honeymoon and truly felt like royalty. They took such good care of us from the second we walked in to the moment we got in the taxi to leave. I can’t say enough good things about this place. If you are even thinking about booking here, do it!!

This hotel is simply incredible! Perfect location, stunning views, great comfort, beautiful rooms, and outstanding service 🥰. I had asked in advance to prepare a cake for my son’s birthday, and we were greeted with one of the most delicious desserts we’ve ever had. Dinner was excellent ,the cuisine deserves special praise, and the chef is truly talented. Everything was absolutely flawless! Highly recommended!

Giving 4 star, Breakfast was good, breakfast staff was good too. Rooms are pretty and pool side is beautiful. Would have given 5 star if the air con was working too. £500+/ night stay and air con did not work even after calling 5 times. On last day I woke up in pool of sweat as it was so hot. Man at reception hung up on me saying he is not the technician! Spoke to another lady, she kept repeating that their panel at the reception is showing 17, regardless of seeing that panel in the room was showing 22.5. Then she was asking me if I was finding 22.5 too hot. After arguing for 20 min.s she told me she will send a fan up. Which she did but they did not turn on the aircon at al, all that time!!!! Very inconvenient and frustrating. They tried to make up by giving bottles of wine but not good enough. What I needed was a cold room! Sorry!

“A hotel that takes advantage of its guests” My experience at this hotel was terrible. Not only do they have no interest in providing good service, but they also try to take financial advantage of their guests at every opportunity. When faced with obvious problems, their reaction is not to fix them but to ignore them or come up with unacceptable excuses. The staff is indifferent and unprofessional, and management completely disengages. It’s crystal clear their only goal is to squeeze as much money as possible from guests, with no regard for the quality of the stay. One expects at least a minimum level of hospitality in a hotel, but here the only thing you’ll find is disrespect and greed. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of better options where guests are treated with care and respect. This hotel is the opposite: a prime example of how not to run a hospitality business.

Nice villa with great restaurant but lacked warmth and charm. Clean rooms and delicious food. Great views. Met the owner Massimo who was delightful and gave us lots of tips. We stayed in an Executive Suite on the top floor. Huge room and plenty of space for the three of us. Disappointingly no views and the biggest issue - the air conditioning was awful. Previous reviews mention this but it’s really true. We had it on full blast but room was horribly hot both nights. It’s a real negative for this hotel. Breakfast was good and the pool area was great also. Watch out for the mosquitoes though. The Zan Zare is big there and we got over 10 bites the first night. Put the spray on! Pool is large and super clean. Not that warm but refreshing. Overall we recommend.

Food was mediocre. Breakfast was beyond disappointing. Power was out from 8am - 3pm on our only full day at the property. Beds were as hard as a rock. No feather pillows or comforters. Overpriced for the experience and lack of quality - air conditioning doesn’t work, pool is depressing.

Pochissime cose direi dettagli che possono essere risolti con poco: la piscina andrebbe seguita un po’ meglio per non rischiare che qualcuno non trovi posto dato dalla maleducazione di alcuni che si spargono su più lettini senza pensare che ci sono anche altre persone e forse alcuni piatti del ristorante sono migliorabili. Però davvero piccoli dettagli facilmente gestibili.

We had a wonderful time! The pool is amazing with an incredible view. The staff went out of their way to make our stay fantastic, especially our server Leonardo. The breakfast was great with eggs to order and everything freshly prepared. Highly recommend!

Best hotel experience I've ever had. The staff is extremely kind and generous. The grounds area absolutely stunning. The food from the restaurant is incredible as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. We got a chance to meet one of the owners and he was a great person who made us feel at home. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxury stay in Tuscany.

Eva was a wonderful host and the property was beautiful. Very clean and lovely surroundings! Staff were attentive and I would stay here again. We appreciated its proximity to Florence but far enough away to feel remote and relaxed. Room was spacious. I have read other reviews where people complain about such stupid things. Get a grip. It’s a beautiful place!

They can add coffee and tea making facilities in the suite. The minibar could have been better stacked with some mini bites and nuts.

The hotel is very nice, with friendly people and good service providers; they pay attention to small details, the room is clean and pleasant. A quiet place that provides an atmosphere for a quiet and relaxing vacation. The food is good for breakfast and dinner. We stayed in a room with two bedrooms, where three children slept in one room without any problems, and the second room was for the parents

The food was amazing!! The hospitality at this place was magnificent.

Villa le calvane is a quiet place where you want to stay longer, cosy evenings with a glass of red wine and with fantastic sun sets. The room was spacious and big. Leo the waiter was very polite and diplomatic, almost like all the stuff at the hotel.

The rooms are big but there is few light, the bathtubs have to be renovated as they are not working properly. Breakfast was okay but not too varied. Overall it was a nice hotel, but overpriced for the facilities it offers.

Really struggle to find something wrong. Only area for improvement would be the TVs upgraded to cater for Chromecast. But who goes to Villa Le Calvene to watch TV.

The property was beautiful, the staff was tentative especially our sommelier Leo and the front of desk Gemma. Our suite was spacious and a great escape.

Villa Le Calvane is an absolute dream! Everything was spectacular. The breakfast was superb! The grounds were tranquil and relaxing. The pool was everything we could have hoped for. And the restaurant food and drinks were delicious! We can’t wait to return.

Each dinner was a masterpiece, skillfully prepared with the finest ingredients. The absence of city noise added to the charm.

We stayed at this wonderful boutique hotel for the second year in a row. We were in Rome before driving to Villa La Calvane for 5 days. Everything about the hotel is superlative. The food, the lovely staff, ambience and views combine to make this a very special place. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and you feel looked after from the moment you arrive until the (sad) moment we left. We will visit again.

Our 6 day stay at Villa Le Calvane was perfect! The suites were luxurious, the breakfast and dinners divine, the pool so refreshing after our days of touring the area. The location was perfect for our daily outings to Greve, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca and Siena. Views from the property and the sunsets are still etched in our memory! But it’s the staff that makes this lovely place so very special and everyone who worked there are to be commended for their care and dedication to making their guests feel so welcome. We highly recommend this small hotel. It truly is a gem!

We booked a weekend at Villa le Calvane. We live in Florence but we wanted to stay in the countryside to escape the high temperatures in Florence. I booked this via internet as it looked very nice. A suite with two bedrooms as we were in three. Two days before, we phoned the villa to ask if it would be possible to come earlier to stay at the swimming pool. Normally this is not an issue at any other property we have visited but for them it was. The lady who responded the phone stated clearly that check-in time was 15:00 hours and earlier was not possible, in an arrogant way. I phoned on the day of arrival if something had changed, but was responded in the same way, so I said: okay, it is as it is but I expressed myself very unhappy. After 5 minutes the manager called me and told me we could come earlier to stay at the swimming pool. Strange, is it not???? We planned to have dinner as well at this villa, but we skipped because we were treated wrongly, to our opinion. When we arrived, we still expressed ourselves and they told us that it was the owner of the property who is very strict with the rules. They also mentioned that check out time was 11:00 hour the day after and we were not allowed again to stay and to enjoy the swimming pool. Both days there was hardly anyone at the pool!!! I even asked myself if the villa was fully booked. When we came back from dinner, the room was very hot. They do not have airconditioning in the rooms but a cooling through the heating system. As all curtains were closed this system does not work, so we did not sleep very well. The next morning I took a shower and there was no warm water. Other remarks, the waiters were wearing filthy trousers and shirts with marks on it, one of them had even his tie loose. Also there was a strange smell in the afternoon which we think came from the kitchen. Basically this place is overrated very much and not worth 5 stars. We paid a lot of money for one night and it was wrongly spent. There are many other places in Tuscany where you can spent a good time for even less money

What is exceptional about this hotel is its staff. All extremely friendly and helpful with a special mention to Gemma and Paolo who went out of their way to make our stay memorable!! However, what spoilt our stay was the accomodation - how you can provide a suite without a single window in what is truly one of the most spectacular vistas on earth is a tad criminal!! Have the decency to mention the room - attic really has no windows and it’s up to the paying guest to decide whether he wants to book or not. It spoilt or stay here completely as it was not only claustrophobic but we felt totally ripped off!! A view to die for and it felt like a box!! Shame on you Villa Le Calvane.

Sublime experience. We had a wonderful 5 day stay at Le Calvane Villa. The property is perched a top of a hill with gorgeous views of the surrounding Tuscan landscape. Upon arriving we were welcomed warmly. Our room was a 2 bedroom suite, extremely well appointed with Acqua di Parma toiletries, beautiful furnishings, luxurious bathrooms and views of the Tuscan hills and pool. Every single member of the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as special as possible. We are so thankful for all of them, they were all so kind and welcoming. I think this was the best hospitality I've ever experienced so far. The restaurant, La Terrazza, is wonderful and we had dinner there several times. The food is wonderful and the view is incredible. Le Calvane produces their own wines and olive oil, both of which are top quality and we enjoyed them during our stay (the Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon is some of the best we've had) and their extra virgin olive oil is fantastic. The villa was originally build during the 1600s but went thru an extensive 11 million euro renovation around 2016, now the only 5 star hotel in the tiny village of Montespertoli. Easy to get around to other villages around Tuscany and only an easy 40 minute drive from Florence. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Enjoying their great wines while watching the sun set over the hills was a beautiful experience and, frankly, it is a place I would definitely return.

One of the finest hospitality experiences I have ever had. The property is unbelievably beautiful. We were in a two bedroom suite, each bedroom with its own bath. The space was incredible. During our four night stay we elected to have dinner at the property three times; it was that good. Most significant to our experience were the outstanding staff and the serene environment. The staff could not have been more attentive. They assisted us with restaurant and activity reservations. On property they were there whenever we needed them. With only 15 rooms, you could feel like you were staying in your own private mansion. Views of the Tuscan countryside are everywhere and stunning. Ta truly unforgettable experience.

We were surprised by the additional charges for breakfast dishes. In a 5-star hotel with such high room rates, charging guests extra for items like Eggs Benedict seems at least a strange idea. Although the staff is truly amazing, they cannot adequately service the pool as they are likely overwhelmed with a long list of other duties. A good idea would be to install buttons by the loungers to request service.

Beautiful peaceful villa, rooms and pool setting with excellent service and gourmet cuisine

We requested that after we checked out at 11am, we could stay at the pool until 1pm, when we would have lunch before departing. We only stay at five star hotels/villas and this is the first that said no. After spending over $3,500 for two nights (2rooms ) I was disappointed and will not return.

Absolutely amazing all around. Amzing views, amazing room, amazing food! Francesco was amazing! Leo was amazing! AMzing views! Amazing pool! My wife and 2 kids (11,7) really enjoyed our stay. We were so tired from our day trips that we ate at the Villa almost every night.Chef is fantastic - and those views every night! The breakfast is included and the kids couldnt wait to wake up and see what was waiting for them. Loved the 2 bedroom/2 bath room we had so that we didnt need sepearte rooms. This is the perfect spot to stay in Northern Tuscany!
