location is excelent, beds really confortable, nice pool and restaurants. The satff was really kind and very attentive. We really enjoyed our time there and will be back.

Every person we interacted with was friendly and willing to help. Nelly and the front desk team did a lovely setup for my husbands 40th birthday and with other room drops for our friends who came along. The food and beverage manager at breakfast was very accommodating and offered us complimentary coffe when we sat waiting for our friends ! Loved every min of my stay. My housekeeper didn’t speak any English but was always so warm when dropping off our petit fors. Loved her
There was a leak under my sink.. but it seems it was fixed even without me reporting it. I had to constantly ask for wash cloths but got the exfoliating scrubs.
Nice spacious room. Room with daylight, which often is not available at the courtyard hotels in Cartagena. Good location.
In one of the previous evaluatations, somebody stated that the rooms were "sterile". We did not know what this was supposed to mean. Now we know. The room has the atmosphere of a hospital room, unlike the colorful, nicely decorated hotel rooms in many of the smaller hotels in Cartagena. Our main problem was the noise level from the pool bar. The good news was that the music ended at 10:15pm, the bad news was that at Friday night, the party started again (actually much louder) at 4:00 am. It did not help that the balcony door was defect and could not be closed fully. Overall, the interior of the hotel looked quite tired. In particular the courtyard is in desperate need for some new paint.
Great stay
I had an amazing time at Nacar Hotel and Cartagena. This was one of the best trips I've ever taken. I will be coming back to stay again. Highly recommend staying there. I apologize I can't remember all of the staffs names but Christian, the young lady that was there when I left, and great security officer that was there every night. Such great service!!!
All was great!
They were very accommodating and the staff were fantastic and always helpful
Friendly staff, noisy AC
Great property, great service. I was impressed by the property, rooftop, service, and food selection. Amazing bed and showers too.
All was really good at the hotel.
He estado en varios. Bellos.
Good place to stay
Location is great. But google maps show the wrong spot on the map and hard to be find by taxi drivers. Should be update it.
The hotel has a very high humidity, and they freeze the rooms before you get into it. We got sick coming from the very hot weather to the freezing room.
This boutique hotel was perfect for our time in Cartagena. It’s in a good location to most restaurants and very walkable. The hotel is a little old but very well maintained and clean. I would stay here again
The hotel was beautiful with the exception that the air conditioner in the room was leaking water. We had to put a towel on the floor and we would get wet everytime we passed under the air conditioner. Also we reported it to the staff and nothing was done.
Excellent service.
Everything was great
Great location, safe and good ambiance
Good hotel
I'll definitely stay at Nacar again. It was in a prime location within the Walled City. With in walking distance of everything.. well.mostly everything.. my accommodations were very nice.. I'll upgrade next time.. I would have loved a balcony... (ehh next time) the staff were very nice and helpful and housekeeping were on point!
The hotel is very well located, comfortable and spacious rooms, I loved the shower, is so relaxing and one of the best I have experience lately. Beds and pillows are fluffy and soft, you can sleep well. Love the decor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Food UMA the Peruvian restaurant is amazing, delicious ceviche's and wines. Inside the Walled City of Cartagena is one of the best options.
Great location and nice pool
Poor WiFi service
Check in process was not as expected. They have 2 locations which is not advertised on site. Restaurant & Bar was being remodeled, then our room had water leak. They did change us to bigger location which was better conditions and all the amenities where there. All staff was Extremely nice & attentive minus Front desk Female represenatives, terrible customer service.
We had a very nice stay at the hotel. Everything was great: from the reception at the front desk to the checkout. Both restaurants Magnolia (rooftop) and Uma, were superb. The room was perfect: clean, very comfortable, and at the perfect temperature.
The staff were immensely helpful on site and the room was stunning and centrally located. It was a bit weird that they had two buildings but it wasn't too big of a deal. The only recommendation I have is to use Uber and not get the hotel to call you a cab. The cab driver I was given scammed me and made me go to the ATM to get more money for a ride that should have costed half of what he quoted me.
Location is very good, very close to all the action but in quiet area.
Breakfast needs to improve greatly
It was very clean and smelled good. I had an amazing experience. The staff were very helpful. I would recommend anyone stay here!
Spent 6 nights here end of May 2025. Used some Hilton Points to keep the cost down, got a king balcony with sofa bed in the main building (don't stay in the separate sister hotel around the corner). Walking the hallways to the room are scented with eucalyptus which gives it a spa, relaxing feel. The "balcony" was on ground level and they were repairing that area, but it didn't bother us as it wasn't loud. The room was very spacious and modern, absolutely beautiful, an oasis to escape the heat of 95 degree weather, comfortable seating area to watch a movie and order in if feeling lazy (amazing chicken sandwich after a long flight). The shower is top-notch, soft towels and bathrobes for both was a nice touch. The rooftop "pool" is just a 3 foot shallow wading strip of water. Perfect to cool off in but if you're looking for an active swim this pool is too shallow and small. Rooftop restaurant serves very good food and drinks, friendly staff. I visited the Movich which is also a Hilton and this one appeared to be better if you like it at night quiet, the Movich gets packed with visitors and loud music if that's your thing, if you're more low-key the Nacar is the right spot for you. Close to everything as well, just on the other side of town and great restaurants are near by. Fantastic stay, looking forward to return!!!
My partner and I experienced such a blissful and seamless week staying at the Nacar. Our room was absolutely perfect, spacious, and clean. The staff was attentive and we felt genuinely cared for! Extremely hospitable and ideal. We will be returning!
The staff was very attentive. The rooms was very spacious. The rooftop pool and bar was amazing.
Amazing
Very enjoyable stay.
Beautiful property with rooftop amenities and wonderful hospitality. Staff was friendly and prompt.
Excellent staff & maids! Complimentary breakfast each day was wonderful & tasted great! Busy area but in the heart of cultural experiences! Felt safe & no scams while there traveling in or outside hotel! Nice restaurant too!!
We had a seven night stay in room 407, the king bedroom penthouse suite. The hotel has 2 separate buildings around the corner from each other, about a 5 minute walk between them. The suites, only 7 rooms, are in one building whereas reception, the restaurants and other rooms are in the other location. My comments about our stay are as follows: The exceptional: the staff, in general. Everyone of them from reception, housekeeping, and in the restaurant at breakfast would go above and beyond for you. I regret I didn't note everyone's name but a special mention goes to Gustavo who escorted us to our room the day we checked in, and was incredibly helpful in assisting us to arrange a day trip to an offshore island and providing recommendations for local restaurants that were all excellent. We would ask for him and pepper him with questions and he was always obliging, patient and helpful. We also commend Fabian in the restaurant at breakfast and one of the young chefs, I think he said his name was Joseph but I may have mis-heard him. Jen, one of the housekeepers helped us sort out the coffee maker in our room. A very helpful young man at reception contacted a guide we had booked for a walking tour for us when they hadn't shown up at the appointed time and we are very grateful to him for that. I hope Andrey Brijaldo, the general manager is proud of his staff. They made our holiday so much more enjoyable. The location of the hotel is perfect. You can walk to anywhere in the historical old city and there are plenty of shops, tourist attractions like museums and the city wall, and restaurants nearby. The very good: the room. It was open plan with the bed at one end, a wardrobe with safe, bathrobes and slippers, the TV, next to it was the sitting area with sofas and coffee table, fridge with minibar, coffee maker and at the end, up a raised step, was the bathroom with a huge walk in showe,r both hand held and ceiling mounted, double hand basins and a separate bathtub. Many amenities were supplied including shower cap, dental kit, sewing kit, comb, and other things. There is a set of stairs up to the area with the pool and 2 sunbeds and small sun umbrella. The pool is not deep and therefore not so good for swimming but is nice to have a dip to cool off from the hot and humid temperatures. The area where the sunbeds are is fairly narrow and there is not much space around them to access the pool steps. There is a good number of steps up to the pool area that curve around and I found that you needed to have the light on as some of them are half steps and it was difficult to see the edge of those if it was at all dark. Breakfast was nice, a good variety of yogurts, cereals, eggs, breads, pastries, fresh fruit, meats and cheeses. Also some typical Colombian foods which was nice to try. We had drinks in La Magnolia on the rooftop. That is a pleasant place to sit and the bartender was very welcoming. We didn't have any meals there though. The hotel pool is also up there and is long and narrow but we never used it. Things to be aware of: payment for the room was taken on check-in not check-out. That didn't matter to us though. Also, if you have breakfast (even if already included or prepaid) or drinks in the restaurants a gratuity is added to your bill. It would be nice if you were informed of this upfront as we were not aware of it and hence double tipped the breakfast staff and the bartender. I don't begrudge this as the service was exemplary but it would have been nice to know beforehand. The suites are accessed by stairs with no lift so be aware of this if you have heavy luggage. In summary, we would absolutely stay here again because the staff were amazing and location was excellent .
The experience at this hotel was awful. The water was out the entire duration of my stay and the hotel management did not seem to care. There was no hot water and no water pressure in the showers. The hotel manager, Jose Labrador, assured me that I would be getting a refund but instead he has strung me along for over 2 months and has now stopped responding to my emails. Extremely unprofessional. Avoid this place at all costs and stay somewhere where hotel management actually cares.
Great location, close to everything. Nice roof top. Bed was very comfortable. Sofa bed upholstery could have used a deep cleaning (fabric all white) Front desk staff could have been more friendly.
The rooms were excellent and the service was excellent
Location, Breakfast at hotel and great restaurant in the lobby. Able to walk around the area, lots to do and see and shopping was a plus.
I wish the bathroom was enclosed especially if you are in a group.
We ran into some problems that was a bit annoying. Electricity was out for almost an entire day, which meant no water, no ac, and no wifi. When the power returned there was an issue with the water getting hot and flushing the toilets.
AVOID THIS HOTEL!!! 3 ½ Days without hot water…and they’re not sorry. There are few kind words I can use to describe our stay at the Nacar Hotel in Cartagena, Columbia. Yes, it is convenient to the Old City but after that… We stayed 5 days at The Nacar in January of 2025. On arrival, we were not put into scheduled room but instead put their “Suites” which actually is not a suite at all, just a plain room. They’re not even in the same building nor on the same street but 2/3rds of a block away from the main hotel. Want to have breakfast or use the pool, gotta hike around the block. No other rooms available…and they’re not sorry. Promised to be moved into our booked room as soon as they could do so. The room was dirty, dark, and stuffy. The toilet paper holder was broken. The shower door handle and the handheld head (I have pictures to prove these issues) were broken but guess what, NO PROBLEM because you have NO HOT WATER ANYWAY!!! Yes, they knew this before they put us in the room but they were “working on fixing it.” Ok, we can handle one night of that but…the next morning, no problem, it will be fixed when you come back from your breakfast, no…after your day trip. No…after dinner. No…tomorrow. And on and on and on. After a while, you realize, the management of The Nacar would lie to their mothers to avoid just saying, we do not know when it will be fixed. Tried moving rooms in the hotel-none available. Tried getting moved to another hotel…none had rooms nearby. Call Hilton Honors and asked to help. Cannot assist you until you have checked out. Check out early-the hotel does not promise to give you your money back. And to make it worse, for most of the 3rd day, we had not water since the “plumbers”-Moe, Larry, and Curly??? turned it off to work on the pipes but then left for the day. Asked for at least bottled water to use for cleaning and brushing teeth, that would be 6 dollars a bottle-you cannot make this stuff up! I met with the management numerous times. Mr. Jose Labrador and his staff did not care, had no sympathy, and no answers. Lots of “promises” but those were of course never fulfilled. Only when I threatened to stand in the middle of the lobby and demand they do something loudly did they seem worried. On the 4th day, they moved us to the main building. An “upgraded room” but “they were not going to charge us for the upgrade.” Never did a shower feel so good after 3.5 days of sweat, salt water, sunscreen. Mr. Labrador agreed something should be done because of our inconvenience. How about 30,000 Hilton Points??? Really??? How about half off for 2 days? He delayed and delayed making a true offer until the moment we were checking out. Got him move a bit-50% off the stay but I thought it should have been 75% since that’s the percent of the time of our stay without hot water. He would not move. So, you are stuck. Stay and negotiate more and miss your flight or take it and get out of this hellhole. During and afterwards, Hilton Honors did little to nothing to assist in the resolving this issue. Just filed a complaint and did nothing else. This is one of their Curio Hotels. We selected to stay there based on The Nacar being part of the Hilton system. One would think Hilton would hold its hotels to a certain standard of care but not so. After numerous emails, calls, etc. Mr. Labrador finally reimbursed us the promised amount though it took 2 months, not the “7-10 days” promised as we left the hotel. Lots of excuses again but what else did we expect? Oh, he did offer to upgrade us if we ever came back to The Nacar. Another promise??? Bottom line: Even if you do not have issues with your hot water or whatever, this hotel and its management cannot be trusted and that is the most important thing when you select a hotel; that they will take care of you, deliver as promised, and you can trust them. None of these qualities applies to The Nacar, its staff, or its management.
I went to visit Cartagena with my daughter, This was our second time visiting this hotel and we loved it! Excellent location, safe and fun in the old city. Great dining and plenty of walking to be done. Cartagena is beautiful specially at night. The people who works at the hotel are extremely nice and helpful. Our housekeepers were super attentive and kept our room spotless. It was great. I love their breakfast! It’s sooo good! Fresh fruit and yummy local foods. Try Carimañolas, my favorite.
Everything from the location to the room, the service and attention to detail were superb. We look forward to visiting this beautiful hotel again. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff did a wonderful job at decorating the room and leaving champagne and desserts for us to enjoy. A special thanks to Maria and Brian whose service was above and beyond!
The location was great. Comfy beds.
Our room wasn’t ready at the check in time. We didn’t receive a welcome drink as our friends did who checked in on the same day. Our room was on the lower ground and there was a damp smell. There was cake leftover in the fridge from the previous guests.
I read a ton of reviews about Maria & Freddie before arriving. I haven't had the chance halfway through our stay to meet either, however I must say the star of our trip has been a muscled up young gentleman named Brian. He along with Tellie, have recommended 3 great restaurants and more importantly set up two wonderful tours. The location of our room #407 in the second tower was absolutely no problem to navigate. Actually it's closer to all the action, including three great restaurants Alma,Norma & Biene Vida. Any of the little coffee shops in the walled city are good. The upstairs roof bar in the main hotel has good entertainment. I suggest scheduling a massage with Josey, strongest hands south of Mexico.
Excellent service
We had a wonderful experience at Nacar and highly encourage anyone looking to stay in the Walled City to stay here. Location was super convenient. The room, pool and restaurant were lovely. Best of all was the staff. Brian, Gustavo and Freddy and the ladies at the front desk were so kind, welcoming and helpful. Ana was our housekeeper and she was so sweet. The servers at the restaurant were awesome. All just really wonderful people. Highly, highly recommend this hotel. They really made our experience in Cartagena wonderful!
The suite didn't meet expectation and requires a redesign. A suite should have at least a chair or seat and a table/desk. The suite was in a separate location and not part of the main building which felt really like an after thought. The suite felt overpriced for what it is. On a positive note the staff was fantastic, all of them without exception from reception, to the restaurants were very attentive, friendly and profesional.
Property is in a great location. Walking distance to many city attractions.
Just returned from 11 days at the Nacar in Cartagena and we LOVED our stay there. For the record, it was our first trip to Caragena and we really labored over where to stay, looking at dozens of spots online and reading all the reviews. Fortunately we settled on NACAR and it was perfect. A few reasons one: 1. the location is GREAT. just inside the walled city, you are out of the main chaos (e.g., hard-core touristy areas) but right by the walls (I ran every AM) and several awesome squares with excellent restaurants. we loved the location for being simultaneously in the city but not in the more intense parts. 2. the hotel itself is gorgeous. it's small-ish with a very boutique vibe. on our first glance at the roottop bar and pool, we thought 'huh, that's fine' and then we just fell in love with being up there. it's absolutely stunning in a slightly under-stated way - tons of foliage and great music and just a terrific chill place to spend time. 3. the staff are the best. being there for so long, we hit up the front desk many times for many things (more shampoo, help getting somewhere, random questions). everyone was just amazing - very kind, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. If I could go to Cartagena tomorrow and stay at the Nacar for longer, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Can't wait to get back.
Review Hilton garden Nacar Cartagena Boutique hotel in old city within the walls. Very close to all the hustle bustle. Smallish rooms Staff quite inflexible. Not the friendliest. Pool is long but small No gym Rooftop restaurant has terrible food, very expensive and takes a long time to get your order. At night this becomes a party place be aware. Breakfast is average for such a hotel. Limited bottled water. Be aware that there are two locations on Google maps which are about a block apart.
Everything was terrific at the hotel with one exception. The restaurant Alma on the first floor, although delicious, offered terrible service.
Staff left me piece of cake for my birthday and that was so nice 😊 Restaurant was very modern and nice
Breakfast was not included,we had to pay extra ☹️
The hotel has a nice pool and conveniently located near some good places to eat inside the old walled city.
The room size was nice but, it was expensive for what it was and we were stuck in a basement room, which had an underlying smell of damp. When it rained, the water came in under the door.
We loved our stay at the Nacar. The hotel was great and the staff and food were excellent. We will stay again if ever back in Cartagena.
If you can book this hotel - I would do so! The hotel is a boutique style hotel but very beautiful! If you have a suite or larger room you will be in a separate building but I didn’t find it as an inconvenience- it was nice as I was with my boyfriend and we enjoyed the peace. The staff was amazing, the rooftop pool while small, it was nice and really pretty. Very central to everything and easy to walk around. Would highly suggest for anyone who is visiting Cartagena to stay here!
Location. Staff.
The bathroom could have a more suitable door, which would preserve privacy. And the prices of drinks at the pool bar are very expensive, even more expensive than superior hotels.
