Casa das Palmeiras Charming House Azores

This was a great location; however at 71 and 76 just too many stairs to walk up to our room and carry our cases (2 flights). Arrived early morning and was able to leave our cases at a cost of 8 euros!! Breakfast was OK but nothing special.

Great location. Beautiful room. Highly recommend

Friendly staff, very clean

The property was built in 1901 but has been meticulously maintained. Only one drawback…our room was on the 3rd floor…NO ELEVATOR! And for visitors like us in our 70s it was a challenge. If your stairs-challenged, try for a room on 2nd floor (rms 1 - 7; 8-10 are on 3rd floor). Other than that, this place is very quaint and great!

Charming is a good description of the property. Would definitely stay there again if I were in Ponta Delgada.

The property is exactly what it is called. Charming. The staff is very nice. The breakfast had everything you need. Be prepared to walk up and down the stairs as there is no elevator. The only issue we had with our room (#10) is that sink in the bathroom was super tiny and could not put any toiletries in the bathroom. Rooms also do not come equipped with a fridge. Otherwise it was a beautiful property.

Beautiful property. More than accommodating staff. Clean, gorgeous rooms!

Very good

We spent a fantastic week at Casa das Palmeiras — we loved the small inn feel — beautiful decor and thoughtful touches and warm welcomes — and the great central location. We could walk to any number of cafes, restaurants and shops yet our room was quiet and calm in the evenings for a great night's sleep. Everyone we interacted with was so kind and helpful. Our very early flight meant we missed the last day of exceptional breakfasts — but there was a to-go package waiting for us with treats and juice boxes. Great amenities — extra towels for showers after visiting the iron-rich geothermal pools, that incredible breakfast!, and always available cofffee — were much appreciated. This was a perfect place to launch into adventures around São Miguel and return to comfort each night.

Great location. Walkable. Nice breakfast. Great stuff

Beautiful house, friendly staff, very close to attractions and good restaurants

The property was an excellent location close to restaurants and cafes. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean.

Lovely converted old “big” house. Only 10 rooms I believe. Spacious n airy room and lovely bathroom. Lots hot water. Very good breakfasts. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great place, and good location to.

This property exceeded my very high expectations. The property is beautiful, clean, welcoming, and perfectly located for experiencing all that Ponta Delgada has to offer. Breakfast was provided daily, and was very enjoyable with lots of options both hot and cold, including a variety of local cheeses. It really was the most perfect start to the day. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful property for your stay, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful architecture, bright building, nice garden. Central location. Great breakfast. Helpful staff. Our stay at Casa das Palmeiras Charming House was a very enjoyable experience.

Great Location, friendly staff. Very nice stay.

M

A beautiful place to stay in a very convenient place in town.

Nous avons apprécié pouvoir laisser nos valises le matin avant de récupérer la chambre. Au départ, on nous a gentiment préparé un petit lunch et prévu un taxi puisque nous quittions avant l’ouverture du restaurant. Merci beaucoup!!

Very welcoming host in a charming place. This will now be our go to place for future stays

The only complaint is about the parking. There is limited parking available on site so had to park outside the property and then got a parking ticket.

This is a delightful hotel and lives up to its name “”Charming House”. The renovation done some years ago is very tasteful and skillful and the historic home is in excellent condition. The breakfast is served each morning with handmade pottery and nice linens, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were told that we needed to park on the street nearby, but when we reported that there were no spaces available they made room in their small adjacent lot for us. My husband and I both felt it was a lovely place for a very reasonable price. It was a lovely introduction to the Azores.

We had the absolutely best time and were sad we had to check out after only 2 nights.

It was absolutely idyllic. Wished we could stay longer.

Just incredible! On arrival, Gabriela was kind, informative and polite. The hotel was so charming and beautiful, perfect in downtown and walkable to all areas in that area. Breakfast food was delicious, coffee available all day and staff was so wonderful. We will be back for a longer stay for sure!

Our stay was wonderful! All of the Staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the Breakfast was so good! We would recommend this place to everyone!

Beautiful property excellent and helpful staff

The staff at Casa das Palmeiras were extremely kind, helpful, and respectful. We arrived early on our first day in Sao Miguel, and the staff let us store our luggage at the house while we waited. They were even able to move up our check-in time. Our room had an excellent view of the neighborhood below and amazing, high ceilings. There was even a thoughtful welcome snack offered as well as a bottle of water. Every morning, we were served excellent breakfast at the site, including assorted fruits and breads. The staff also directed us to safe and easy overnight parking options. Our stay at Casa das Palmeiras was truly a highlight of our trip.

Friendly staff

Location: 9/10 Breakfast: 6/10 - Quality and quantity need improvement; - Leftovers were served the next day, and some hams were stale. Facilities: 7/10 - Nice room overall but AC didn't work - Only toiletry provided was shampoo

Quaint, cozy rooms within walking distance of everything in Ponta Delgada. Breakfast was pretty good too

Wonderful location and hotel

Beautiful property with comfy beds, great breakfast and kind and helpful staff. One of our favorite stays while traveling three weeks in Portugal. I highly recommend!

Gabriela y todo el staff son maravillosos, muy amables. El hotel es de gran gusto: elegante y romántico. Inmejorable. Me quedaría con ellos siempre que regrese

Great location in Ponta Delgada. In the middle of everything, close to the water, tons of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Very nice property making use of a beautiful old Portuguese-style building

Beautiful room. Centrally located and very quiet. Would definitely recommend

The house is indeed charming and they provide a lovely breakfast. Linens were top notch! We liked the central location so we could walk to dinner. We took advantage of the reasonably priced secure on-site parking lot. Note there is not an elevator so pack light!

This is a lovely little hotel. The rooms are spacious. Our room had a little balcony with seats overlooking the courtyard. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had an early flight leaving before breakfast was served, so takeaway breakfasts were delivered to our room.

We loved everything about this place. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Great staff

This hotel is charming, but there were some problems that made the stay less than perfect. One problem was that the shower in Room 10 was busted (the holder was busted so you couldn't take a normal shower under the showerhead/nozzle... you had to hold it with your hand.) Another issue is that we were woken up near midnight on the first night of our stay by people knocking on the door. It was hitel staff, because they were wondering how we had a key to the room when they still had two keycards in their possession.. we showed them our card, and they realized it was their error, but we were exhausted after traveling for 15 hours, so this was very bad timing to interrupt our sleep. We also found out that the lock to our door wasn't working at all... the room had remained unlocked all day with our possessions inside. Fortunately, nothing happened, but it could have... they had to repair the door lock the following day. After that, everything was fine. Breakfasts were decent and the location is good (be aware you have to climb stairs to get to the rooms.) This would have been a 5 star stay, but the problems we encountered really detracted from the experience.

The hotel was charming. The staff was helpful, polite, and informative. The breakfast was extensive with many good choices. The bread and rolls were freash.

We adored our stay at this incredible hotel. It is located in the perfect place for walking around town and had a private parking lot that is gated. The hotel is extremely clean and classy. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had while traveling! I have Celiac Disease and the women at the hotel prepared me a special plate of gluten free pastries every morning. The attention to detail was so appreciated. We absolutely loved our stay here and would come back to this hotel if ever in the Azores again!

Great hotel with excellent service. Convenient location close to center of town.

Casa das Palmeiras was a nice, quaint breakfast and bed stay. It is surrounded by a number of restaurants and bars - literally steps from the hotel. The breakfast was good and provided a nice "homey" feel to it. The room itself was nice and neat with quality service.

Beautiful rooms in the heart of Ponta Delgada. Absolutely lovely breakfast every morning. As expected with a historical property, soundproofing in the bedrooms is not the best, but it did not bother us. Would stay again!

Nice location close to everything and walkable. Room was a little tight for 2 people. Washroom was very modern but very small. Bed was very comfortable. A lot of natural light during day and good lighting at night.

I was sad I didn't get to try their famous breakfast as I had to leave for the airport in the morning, so they made me a bagged breakfast and left it on my door in the morning. The renovation of the building is fresh and the water pressure was amazing.

Lovely high ceilings and overall property. The staff were excellent and helpful. Would highly recommend

Lovely hotel in the middle of Ponta Delgada. Adorable house, beautiful room and fantastic service

The building and rooms are beautiful and the view from the top floor is spectacular! The staff were helpful and the breakfasts had a nice variety. The Wifi never worked and would keep disconnect which was quite annoying and it is next to a Main Street which was a little noisy in the night times. Overall definitely would stay here again!

Everything was close and convenient and taken care of beautifully

Lovely hotel installed in a historic colonial building.

We enjoyed the room with the wonderful view and, of course the breakfast, which was fantastic . All the members of the staff were accommodating and the Charming House was very comfortable and unique. We’ll have lots of great memories of our stay.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Almost everyone spoke English. They gave us ideas for restaurants and made reservations for us. The breakfasts were very good with lots of fruit and yogurt and cheese and eggs, etc.

A great hotel with lovely staff. Breakfast was good

Beautiful! Comfortable bed. Wonderful breakfasts. Excellent staff. The only downfall for us were the stairs with heavy luggage. Otherwise a lovely stay.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast!!!

Pleasant property and ice breakfast with helpful staff

I had an AMAZING time at Casa Das Plameiras. It is a beautiful building in a great area. My room had a balcony that overlooked the street. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was perfect and everyone was super friendly.

This was the 6th hotel we have stayed in this trip and it was the best. It was indeed a Charming House, not a modern impersonal hotel.

Lovely old mansion with very high ceilings and nice gated grounds...lovely buffet

We loved our stay at Casa Palmeiras. The location is great - right in the middle of town . . . . but still quiet and peaceful inside. The hotel is very clean and comfortable (we loved the tall ceilings and all the architectural details). The price was great as well. We actually liked it so much that we also tried their newer property - Casa Portuguese (also amazing). The breakfast was delicious as well. Lots of great fresh pastries in addition to eggs, etc. The only negative was that they charged for parking. Staff was lovely too :) Would stay again.

Cozy and nice

Lovely house with exceptional staff and excellent breakfast. The walls are paper-thin however, so the room was noisy at times.

Hotel is central to visit attractions. Staff were very hospitable and helpful with directions

The staff was great, the hotel very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was perfect. The property has good security and it was great to rent a parking space for 5 euro per day.

Lovely little spot that was so easy to reach by taxi from the airport for 10 euro. Very beautiful room, amazing breakfast in the morning, walkable to shops and restaurants. The bed was mediocre, but that was my only complaint. Staff was welcoming and helpful. All around great stay!

Awesome room and feel. Excellent breakfast and great service.

Very friendly staff and nice breakfast. The only complaint was that when we first entered the room there was a weird odor.

Loved this hotel so much, so clean, quiet and the breakfast was lovely. We had a fabulous time there. Our plane arrived at 6:45am, which got us to the hotel too early. They were kind enough to allow us to check in a little early so we could get some well-needed sleep. Totally recommend this hotel.

Great experience

This is a beautiful period property, tastefully renovated The only limitation at the moment is that whilst there is a lovely breakfast area, there is no lounge type area (although there is a soft in the breakfast room). I think this might be temporary as there is certainly a renovation under way in another ground floor room. Maybe it's going to be some sort of bar/restaurant or lounge perhaps? There's some noise from a nearby road at night. It's not a busy road and isn't constant but probably more to do with a combination of tyre noise on the cobbled streets and single glazed period windows. Anyway, it's a lovely property and exceeded our expectations

Was just pleasure to stay. Great location great warm helpful staff. I arrived midnight and was greeted by Beatrice All was fine instantly as I had fear of not getting in. Located so close to airport and in heart of old town. Charming old colonial residence. All the mods and cons. Highest ceilings I’ve seen for awhile. I’m guessing 15/16 foot high. Old world.

Super sweet B&B

Small hotel in the old part of Ponta Delgada. Very walkable area. The stuff was helpful, professional and kind.

Our 2nd stay was as good as the first - our room was made available to leave our luggage in. Excellent staff and service.

Very lovely property with easy access to dining and shopping. The staff were very friendly and offered good suggestions for our trip. The breakfast included a nice assortment of food and beverages. We highly recommend it!

What a fabulous location and lovely hotel. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was outstanding!

Casa das Palmeiras is a lovely building and carefully restored and maintained with great attention to beauty and comfort. The breakfast was fabulous, as is the location.

The breakfast was delicious and in a beautiful space.

Beautiful colonial house minutes away (walking) from Ponta Delgada waterfront.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The whole property was lovely. Breakfast was an assortment local cheese, fruit juices and teas. But mostly, the staff! They were the jewels in the crown.

Quiet but well located.

My husband and I spent most of my vacation across the island and our last night we decided to stay here close to the airport. The hotel is super cute, the rooms are so charming and elegant. And although I only stayed one night it was enough to leave a positive impression. When I checked in I let them know I would be leaving at 8am the next day and the next morning we found a bag with breakfast packed so we could easily take it. My husband and I are so thankful for that level of detail and care. They packed little sandwiches, pastries and juice. That breakfast saved us. The room was clean, great location, charming building, and caring staff. I would go again.

The staff takes extra care of their guests and their safety

The best looking historic building in Ponta Delgada, with 14-foot ceilings, very helpful staff, fine, sunny rooms, great breakfasts, and parking! Great location near excellent restaurants. No elevator. Most rooms one floor up from ground level.

The property is adorable and the staff is great! The breakfast in the morning is a highlight! So much love and attention is given to it - even heart shaped butter for the fresh pastries. Only downside is I paid for 2 beds and ended up with a bed and a sheet thrown on a futon. If you need more than 1 bed, I recommend just getting two rooms.

Casa das Palmeiras immediately feels like a different sort of place. The same careful attention that was paid to its restoration is present in the care for the guests.

This historic Inn was full of charm and character, restored to bring out its beauty and elegance, but with the comforts of modern life. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room had an abundance of natural light from the large windows of the Juliet balcony overlooking the cobblestone streets below. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast included in our stay was a plentiful mix of fresh fruits, pastries and other delights. We could walk throughout Ponta Delgada and rented a car right down the street and were able to fully explore the island. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

Wonderful stay, outstanding hospitality and beautiful and romantic property

We loved our stay at the Casa das Palmeiras! The location was great and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Although the hotel is located in a high-traffic area, it can be a little loud (there is a restaurant right below and next to the hotel that plays music loud and late), but shutting the windows and shutters helped a lot. The included breakfast and the option to have parking on-site was a bonus and we highly recommend staying here to any guests looking for a convenient and great location with a cool history and great staff.

Charming house-boutique hotel. Service friendly and efficient. Comfortable bed/room. Wonderful breakfast included. Central convenient location in Punta Delgada.

The original of this hotel was a historical building. It is very cute and clean if you don't mind taking up your luggage up and down the stairs. There is no elevator so be aware if you have heavy luggage. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.

The staff are very nice and so welcoming. The property overall is super clean and so nicely decorated. We loved our stay!

Beautiful facility with very nice rooms located in an excellent part of the city. Restaurants literally across the street; the one we chose was great. We would come back in a heartbeat.

Everything was perfect!

Charming hotel, very well located and great breakfast. Our flight was early on departure day and we were offered and delivered a breakfast box at the door for 5:00 AM without having to request anything.

Property is well-kept! Very friendly staff, amazing breakfast

Love the location, the property. Didn’t like no elevator
