Farm to table Staff were always so friendly and helpful Check in made us feel right at home and welcome straight away Summer night kitchen - remains the prettiest setting for dinner I’ve ever had! Lovely pool, decor, loved the “family room”, pet & child friendly, staff seem happy & very passionate about the place which is nice to see Food & drinks were incredible! Cranial massage was incredible & highly recommend Clean & always smelt amazing! 🍋

Not necessarily “didn’t like” but we found the food/drink prices more expensive in comparison to the hotel we had just stayed at (also in the Douro). We loved the ethos of farm to table (the other hotel also shared this ethos) we were just a little surprised at the contrast. The food & drink was amazing so it’s more of an observation than criticism. We liked the wine so much that we have had some shipped home ♥️

Everything was perfect! The hosts , the views, the rooms, and the food were all amazing. We had the best time and will definitely be back!

Die Quinta de São Bernardo ist ein absolut einzigartiger Ort. Direkt am Douro gelegen, bietet das Hotel Wassersport-Möglichkeiten, Weinproben, zwei Pools (einer davon versteckt in den eigenen Weinbergen), einen gemütlichen Family Room, in dem man chillen und lesen kann, und viele wahnsinnig schöne Plätze, an denen das Essen serviert wird: Ein verzaubertes Gewächshaus, ein weinberankter Patio, ein Wintergarten mit Blick auf den Fluss, zwei herrliche Terrassen.... Das Hotel bietet so viele Möglichkeiten und Aktivitäten, dass man eigentlich gar nicht rausgehen muss. Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch das grandiose Essen. Die abendlichen "Farm to Table"-Menüs waren jedes Mal ein Highlight. Aber das Beste an der Quinta de São Bernardo sind die Menschen, die dort arbeiten. Selten haben wir einen so persönlichen und genuin freundlichen Service erlebt. Als wir abreisten, war es ein wenig, als wäre ein Urlaub bei guten Freunden zu Ende gegangen.

Unser Zimmer war ziemlich klein und ging zum Eingangsbereich raus, so dass es häufig - auch nachts - recht laut wurde, weil die Haustür klapperte, Aufräumarbeiten stattfanden oder das Golf Cart auf dem Kiesweg fuhr. Nächstes Mal würde ich explizit darum bitten, ein Zimmer weit weg vom Eingang zu bekommen.

Peaceful, scenic, fantastically relaxed, amazing food and the service from the staff was exceptional. Various activities to do if wanted with wine tasting and dining options. The menu changed each day using home grown produce and the wine from the estate was both delicious and varied.

Slightly out of the way without own transport however they will happily pick you up from the various train stations, airport and provide a driver if needed

One of the best hotel experiences I had. The staff were communicative before, during and after the stay - WhatsApp messages with any questions, menus, forgotten items - very clear and needed. The property is stunning, with the tiniest details thought through - right on the bank of the river amongst the vines. The breakfast and dinner were delicious; in house chef was great and personable, explained every dish and the menu was always changing, really recommend staying in for dinner. All guests are addressed by name and all requests are diligently cared for throughout the stay - we were thoroughly impressed and would love to recommend the stay to anyone

One thing to note is that there are railway tracks right next to the hotel - as it is with most properties on this scenic bank of the river - and the trains are audible through the hotel.

The property is absolutely wonderful. Quaint, cozy, beautiful and the staff was wonderful. Also the food is incredible.

Everything! The location was exquisite and every detail had been thought about with care. The wine, the food, and above all, the staff, were all top notch. There may be other hotels in the area but I can’t imagine any of them surpassing Quinta de S. Bernardo.

This property is exquisite! You feel like you are in a different world. The architecture and the overall design is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous and it’s kept very clean. There’s so much to do and the different rooms for activities makes you feel at home. And most importantly, the STAFF! Talk about going above and beyond for anything your heart desires! Extremely warm and welcoming! And the food and wine was some of the best I have ever experienced.

This was an experience we will never forget! Truly one of the best places we've ever stayed, anywhere. Stunning property, inside and out. The staff was the best! Very inviting, professional, and friendly. Everyone knew our names, remembered what we liked, and were very accommodating. We had a memorable stay of two nights at the Quinta de S. Bernardo in Douro Valley. This inn is located in a fully functional farmhouse and vineyard, perched high on the slopes of Douro Valley mountains offering picture perfect views. We stayed in a room with river views and a plunge pool- it was beyond gorgeous. The facilities are immaculately maintained. The restaurant served great meals all through our stay including good options for a vegetarian in our party. The winery produces excellent wines that I can highly recommend. The staff are very kind and professional. The place is so small that the staff and the guests get to know one another quickly. The owner and the hostess, Ms. Marcela Monteiro is probably one of the most efficient, kindest, and the most helpful person we have ever met. Well before the trip, she responded to all our questions over email with helpful tips and advices about the Douro Valley area. She helped us with pointers to other providers of high quality experiences in the Valley. She also set us up with a medical professional for urgent care that one in our party needed. I highly recommend this cute, cozy, and picturesque little farmhouse inn for a memorable Douro Valley experience.

Staying at this Quinta felt like stepping into a dream; surrounded by rolling vineyards and overlooking the Douro River- breathtaking setting. The hosts went above and beyond. If you're looking for a magical escape that combines history, hospitality and the finest wines... Quinta de S. Bernardo is simply unmissable!

אחד המקומות הכי מיוחדים שהיינו בהם. יש רק תשעה חדרים, מאוד אינטימי ונעים, כל הצוות מכיר אותך בשם, יש את כל הפסיליטיז הדרושים. הכל מוקפד וניכר שחשבו על כל פרט ופרט עד הקטן ביותר. ארוחת ערב מדהימה ומומלצת!

Outstanding location, beautiful pool, exceptional service and food. A beautiful couple of days drinking wine and eating delicious farm to table meals. Rita, Miguel and Joanna made our stay memorable and wonderful. They make you feel like you're right at home.

The most beautiful location possible, with a mesmerizing view across the river, and tons of activities available.

This is probably the best positioned hotel in all of Douro valley as you are down by the river. It's beautiful and peaceful and you're surrounded by nature. The hotel staff is super helpful and professional. The hotel offers activities like kayaking and stand up paddling. We stayed in the villa which had incredible views and slept so well. I'm recommending this hotel to all of my friends!

Unbelievable!! Honestly one of my favorite experiences not just on this trip but ever. We had a beautiful view from our room and a private deck which was nice but all the shared areas were equally beautiful with stunning views. The team was AMAZING, everyone was so lovely and the food was delicious! We enjoyed every meal there bc the farm to table concept meant Fresh and delicious. Highly recommend. Please use google maps and not just your iPhone maps though if your are driving. there is a right way to get there and a wrong way!

The Hotel is a boutique vineyard with outstanding people running it. I cannot say how good it is. The food and wine selection was outstanding. The staff was extremely professional, helpful and caring. We strongly recommend the hotel.

Beautiful property! The staff is amazing and spoiled us. It was difficult to come back to reality. It’s secluded, this is a good place to rest and get away from the daily grind. We stayed in Room 3 with a mini pool on the balcony. It could use a little more privacy. Also, we stayed over a holiday weekend in Portugal and several families with young children came. It was nice but got loud.

We had an amazing time!!! On our first night we enjoyed the chef’s table and it was one of the best meals we have had!! The wine and courses were perfect and we love Miguel. We also were treated with a wine tour at a nearby vineyard with an authentic lunch with tasting. It was absolutely perfect each and every member of the team there was truly special. We would come back and stay again there is not one thing that wasn’t absolutely wonderful.

This place is absolutely magical. The property is stunning, but it's the character of the place and the vibe that made it special to me. You feel pampered and in a luxury environment without it being stuffy. You can casually meander down to the river and grab a kayak, take some yoga mats to the deck, or take bikes out and head to the nearest vineyard. Plus excellent food, service, and views. They got all of the details just right.

An amazing winery farmhouse resort on the Duoro River

This quaint Quinta was fabulous - view, staff, facilities and food/bar was exactly what we needed for our last days in Portugal. While there are only 9 rooms, we felt like we had the entire Quinta to ourselves. Everthing was superb about our visit.

Breakfast was fantastic. The staff are also lovely. It is a very relaxing place to be if you just want to for a day or two.

Unfortunately I had smoke from the fires dampened my stay in the DV.

Staff were great - very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent and it was absolutely no problem to adjust dishes to accommodate my wife's lactose intolerance. Property was beautifully renovated.

You are off the beaten track, so a car is a necessity if you want to leave the hotel to do anything.

What was unique about the property, was that it was one of-a- kind place you dream about.

Absolutely incredible views. I have never stayed at any hotel where the staff was so attentive as this Quinta. Rooms are really nice and we had a terrace with a hot tub overlooking the river. Rita’s special drink was amazing and she is the best. Ricardo can be booked to tour different vineyards and he is a joy to spend time with showing you the area. Book a boat tour with Rubin to see the vineyards from a different perspective. Joe is there to help with whatever you need with a great smile and sometimes a wink. Highly recommend a stay.

Our stay at the Quinta de S. Bernardo was incredible. The grounds and hotel are gorgeous, the setting is picturesque and very peaceful. Everyone we encountered at the hotel was so friendly, helpful and welcoming. They went out of their way to provide us with helpful recommendations, set up a custom winery tour and made some amazing meals. My husband and I did not want to leave and can only hope we'll be able to visit again one day. It was magical!

Five stars is simply not enough for this property. The design and location are perfect to immerse yourself in Duoro wines. Every single aspect of the experience they offer is beautiful, well thought out, and white glove. Spectacular stay with great wine and amazing food if you are looking for a romantic boutique wine get away this is a must.
