Mevagissey Bay Hotel

Sam and Roy were incredible hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel extremely welcome, and it was clear, that they both are 100% committed to ensure that you have a fantastic stay. Great choice at breakfast, freshly cooked and well presented. It set you up for the day. The hotel is very well maintained, clean and homely. Superb sea views and about a 10 minute walk downhill to the harbour. Comfortable bed, great room facilities and high quality towels and furnishings.

Fabulous views from elevated position but access via a very steep hill and then steps up to hotel.

First room had a fibre board style decor to one wall. This gave off a vapour which caused my wife who is asthmatic to suffer great difficulty with breathing overnight. Fortunately the hosts Sam and Robin moved us to a different room for our second night which was excellent. The only other slight disappointment was the shower rooms are a little dated.

Wonderful accommodation Rooms are clean and the hotel facilities warm and welcoming. Breakfasts are excellent. The owners are super friendly and will recommend local attractions and advice. The room we stayed in had wonderful sea views. Location is good with a short walk to the harbour and village with local attractions. In the evening we enjoyed talking to the other quests and hosts in the lounge which overlooks the bay. This is our second stay at the M Bay Hotel and we highly recommend it.

The car parking on site can be an issue when the hotel is fully booked because on arrival we had to park behind the hotel on a road behind because all the spaces were taken. However this is a minor issue.

The hotel was immaculate with good parking and facilities. As a smaller hotel, the welcome from Sam and Roy was so friendly and warm and personal. The view from the room was spectacular. Breakfast had great choices and food and the home made granola delicious. Close enough to walk down to the harbour. Would definitely stay again.

Roy and Sam are excellent hosts, so very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very comfortable, with stunning views. We stayed in room 11, which was wonderful. We had everything needed and the weather was exceptional, so we spent a lot of time outside on our patio, looking out to sea. The breakfast was delicious, all freshly cooked to order. What a lovely friendly hotel. Stunning views. Rooms clean and comfortable. Delicious breakfast to include cooked and continental. Homemade granola is the best. The hotel terrace is a sun trap and the bar in the evening is a great place to relax after a day out. Sam and Roy make you feel very welcome and will help plan your visit to Mevagissey and the surrounding area. Definitely worth a visit.

We have just returned from the best 2 night stay at this hotel. Sam and Roy are amazing as hosts, they are very friendly and helpful. All the team are very welcoming too. We had a very lovely decorated and comfortable room with everything we needed. The hotel is decorated to a high standard. The views from the hotel are just beautiful and it is in an ideal location for Mevagissey and surrounding beaches. We will be back!

All excellent, Super view, great Breakfast and Evening Meal. Drinks were reasonable cost. Room was clean and well furnished with a comfy bed. Great hosts who were happy to chat and give tips about the location.

Trotz der traumhaften Aussicht, hatte das Zimmer nur ein normales Doppelbett und es war einfach zu klein und zu kurz. Das wird aber zur nächsten Saison ausgewechselt

We stayed at the Hotel for 3nights. Sam and Roy and the team have been lovely hosts and the views from the Hotel were stunning. We ate a delicious supper at the Hotel. The room was clean and cosy in a quiet location and it was always prepared each day.

A small, very friendly hotel with a lovely view. The hosts couldn't have been more hospitable, and responded willingly to all our requests. We were very comfortable and felt very welcome.

The parking can be a bit tight, as they only have 9 spaces. To get to the nearest beach at Portmellon you have to walk up and down a fairly steep hill. (5minutes) This didn't bother us, but may bother some. Polkirt beach is not accessible without a boat.

Great weekend Sam & Roy were very handsome on hosts and happy to stop and chat Sam gave us some helpful tips on where to go in the Village. The views are to die for.

We recently stayed at The Mevagissey Bay Hotel and from the moment we arrived we realised we had chosen well. We were greeted by Roy who immediately made us feel at home. This set the tone for our week as along with Sam nothing was too much trouble. The varied breakfast options, hot and cold set us up for the day, especially the homemade granola. Evening meals are also available which I can highly recommend. The hotel is conveniently located to be able to walk to the harbour and local beaches. The views from the hotel are stunning too. The hotel is very clean and the staff are so friendly , we also enjoyed the hotel bar.

Really great week at Bay Hotel. Sam, Roy and staff could not be more welcoming and attentive - no request too much trouble. Wonderful views from hotel down to the sea. Great bar and front outside sitting area for the evening drinks before dinner. Even provided great binoculars for viewing Chapel Point and any tanker on the horizon.

Had a wonderful relaxing stay at the very well positioned hotel Mevagissey, with lovely view of the bay. Roy and Sam did everything to make us feel welcome and at home, thank you! The rooms are very clean with comfortable beds. Good breakfast, lots of choice. Diners were great, especially the homemade boeuf bourguignon. Hope to return!

Sam & Roy are fabulous hosts and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The hotel is immaculately clean and the included breakfasts really set you up for the day. We had an evening meal on our 2nd night and it was so tasty - credit to Chef Roy. Sam was very knowledgeable about the local area and gave great advice on restaurants and pubs locally as well as the best places to park. They are very hardworking and up at the crack of dawn to do the breakfasts so it's understandable they shut the bar at 10pm. There's no problem if you want to buy another bottle of wine at 10pm as the lounge and beautiful decking are both still open for customers to enjoy. We have booked to come back next year as it was so good.

The breakfast was lovely, there was a great choice of both cold and cooked. The granola being homemade. Owners were very friendly. Rooms were newly furnished and very clean.

The shower was a little weak but you can live with that.

First and foremost, the hosts Sam and Roy were brilliant - so friendly, inclusive, helpful, I could go on. The location itself and the view from the bar / dining room / bedroom were wonderful. The room we chose with a balcony was lovely. The breakfast was plentiful and the dinner we selected for our final night was absolutely delicious. Bless Sam but she even gave me a complimentary birthday wine and added a candle to our dessert and sang happy birthday. Plus even more appreciated was a Cornwall tin of scrummy shortbread to make my birthday special. We couldn't more highly recommend a stay at Mevagissey Bay Hotel.

We have just returned home after five wonderful nights at the Mevagissey Bay Hotel, and we honestly can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, Sam and Roy made us feel like part of the family. Their kindness, warmth, and genuine care made our holiday so special. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was beautiful, with the most breathtaking view across the bay. Waking up to that view each morning was simply magical. The food was outstanding, every meal was delicious, and the friendly service made every dining experience a pleasure. Thank you, Sam and Roy, for your incredible hospitality and for creating such a welcoming and relaxing place to stay. We have made some wonderful memories and are already looking forward to returning. If you’re thinking of booking the Mevagissey Bay Hotel, don’t hesitate. Sam ist eine außergewöhnlich herzliche Gastgeberin und kümmert sich mit viel Charme und Leidenschaft um ihre Gäste und die Bar. Ihr Mann verwöhnt mit einer hervorragenden Küche und einer ausgezeichneten Speisekarte. Die persönliche Atmosphäre, die Gastfreundschaft und diese traumhafte Lage machen das Hotel zu einem Ort, an den man gerne zurückkehrt. Ich würde jederzeit wieder buchen und kann dieses Hotel uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Sam and Roy are EXCELLENT hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and they worked hard to accommodate our party of ten. The location is amazing: a wonderful sea view from the terrace and lounge, and only a short walk into the village. We really did feel completely at home.

Our room was very small, but it was one of the least expensive: We let our guests have the better rooms. The sea view rooms had already been booked.

I often prefer not to do reviews, to mention how clean the room was, and it was. Or how superb the breakfast was, and it was. Those many things we just expect these days. You should go to this hotel and see for yourself, just book it and go, you wont be disappointed.

Tea/ Coffee Etc was there as were complimentary biscuits. Plenty of towels etc. in the en-suite. Just the best real "value for money stay" we've ever had in Cornwall! Sam and Roger looked after us and attention to detail is superb without be in invasive or false. Simple things make a difference like the small chalk board at breakfast that just said "Good morning :)" ! They even bought my wife a lovely box of chocolates as it was her birthday! HOW SWEET!!! We cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you Sam and Roy!

Das Team ist äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommen! Die Inhaber führen das Hotel wirklich mit sehr viel Hingabe und Engagement! Alles ist tip top in Schuss, gepflegt und ästhetisch gestaltet. Die Aussicht ist fantastisch und man kann direkt losspazieren zum Coast Path.

Das erst Zimmer war relativ warm und durch die Küche darunter und den Küchenabzug nebenan nicht ganz so leise aber es ging. Die Gastfreundschaft hebt das auf jeden Fall wieder auf.

We returned to this beautiful, magical hotel, and it EXCEEDED our last stay because the owners have added a dinner menu made up of high quality locally sourced produce which we thoroughly recommend. The owners also take great pride in the cleanliness of the rooms and provide quality toiletries for no extra charge. The beautiful landscaped garden and breathtaking terrace make it a peaceful place, perfect to sit out to take afternoon tea. Their customer care is, for us, unprecedented. We are just planning our return once more, thank you so much Sam and Roy !

MBH is situated in an idyllic spot on the clifftops overlooking Mevagissey Bay and Crown Point Headland. The atmosphere is tranquil, very relaxing to sit in the bar area and enjoy the ever changing view. My room had a partial view of the bay, but in many ways that didn't matter as I didn't spend much time in my room. The bed was exceedingly comfortable with very luxurious sheets. The bath towels were also of excellent quality. My room was cleaned everyday, coffee, tea and biscuits replenished. There was a high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel. The hotel was quiet, I could not hear other guests in corridors or their rooms. The owners Sam and Roy could not be more welcoming and did everything to make sure my stay was comfortable. There was even a fridge in the dining room area for guests use. Roy was in charge of the kitchen. Breakfast was substantial, well cooked and presented. We had two vegan evening meals which were delicious. Sam led the housekeeping team and they were charming and efficient. MBH has all the usually amenities, it was a bonus to have a parking space. The steps up to the hotel could be a challenge to anyone with mobility issues, but this is quite clearly stated and I was aware of this before I booked.

The hosts Roy and Sam were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The view over the bay was stunning even on the evening it was misty. The breakfast and dinner was excellent. Room was clean and had everything we could possibly need.

What can you say its the perfect place to stay, on the terrace or lounge you can see across the bay, a steady stroll down to the village harbor. The rooms have a great feel to them and interior design. I love this hotel. I first stayed last year for the weekend in the week that Sam and Roy opened the completely refurbished hotel and I had a great stay. I came back this year in June 2026 for 4 nights. This hotel has now become my "go to" place to stay in Mevagissey. Very clean, comfortable rooms, fabulous view and excellent service. Sam and Roy are excellent hosts and made me feel like family. Very thoughtful touches and even a welcome back note in my room with a small gift of some vegan sweets. Sam had remembered I am vegan. I really enjoyed Roy's cooking - breakfasts and evening meals. I loved sitting in the bar and or lounge in the evenings. There are books and board games provided but I preferred to sketch. I felt so relaxed.and at home. Thank you so much, Sam and Roy. Like Arnie, I will be back! :)

We had a fantastic stay at the MBH. From the start, Sam and Roy were so welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was really spacious and clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast menu is varied, and flexible and the food is gorgeous (particularly the bacon!) and the evening meal is as good as, or better than most restaurants. Would definitely recommend.

A family friendly atmosphere

We had a fabulous 3 night stay mid May and hit it lucky with the weather. Sam and Roy were very welcoming and great hosts. We had a sea view room overlooking the bay. Decor in the room was clean and fresh with plenty of storage for clothing. Hot breakfasts were cooked to order and cereals, juice etc were help yourself. We ate in on two nights and had four great meals. We were also able to take advantage of the terrace after a busy day out visiting the Eden project and the lost gardens of Heligan, with a couple of drinks and we frequented the bar in the evening. My husband had a few great gins.

Our Hosts were super friendly and offered all kind of support. Superb view from terrace
