The food for breakfast was lovely and a good selection , the location for what we needed was great., staff were friendly
The carpets were awful in the corridors thead bear in places and a trip hazzard, didnt give a good impression. Carpets wetent clean by skirting boards. The bed wasnt comfortable and the pillows were rock hard. Wasnt allowed to pay for extra parking as i had my sons graduation at 10 30, so had to move the car early as we had to be there for 8. We were done by 1 so i cant see why this isnt allowed if you are willing to pay as the new guests cant check in until 2. Wasnt enough dusabled parking in the car park which isnt great when you have a disabled parent mid eighties.
Beautiful situation, across the road from Lincoln Cathedral. Great breakfast. Lovely staff.
The hotel felt in need of an upgrade, with dated furniture and decor.
Breakfast was good, fresh cooked eggs excellent. Coffee machine could have been better, too slow for number of guests. Staff excellent.
Bed was uncomfortable, with hard buttons on the mattress digging in to me.
convenient
no designated lounge area - chairs randomly placed - no good for more than 2 people to meet and chat Dinner menu not inclusive of vegetarian, not vegan requirements and not particularly tasty.
Great location for the cathedral, which the breakfast room overlooks. My status says I’m from Vietnam but I live in UK
The breakfast was very good
The rooms need a complete refurbishment. They are in need of an update, the bathrooms especially.
Staff very friendly, room very clean. Excellent breakfast, good car park.
Decor very dated. Landing carpets appeared unclean. No air conditioning.
Location
Had to ask to change room as the room we were given smelt awful and looking like it hadent been cleaned our next room was better but the hotel itself looks very tired and in need of some tlc
The room was very comfortable the bed was ok , all the staff were very friendly the location was perfect. Breakfast was very good and the price very reasonable. We loved the 1960's vibe the Hotel has and parking was very easy.
not much really , my wife wasn't keen on the bacon! that's it.
The room was a good size and had an excellent view of the cathedral. The staff were very helpful. Great breakfast.
No hairdryer in the bedroom. Very shabby paintwork throughout. New carpeting required especially in reception (first impressions are so important).
Breakfast and views, staff were friendly and lovely, very welcoming
Room Was a bit dated, old air con unit not working, a fan was provided which worked well but was very dusty; the shower head was full of limescale, the furniture was very dated, definately seen better days, so the room needs an update aesthetically, but the bed was comfy and views were great of the cathedral
Location. Original style of the hotel. Balcony room overlooking the cathedral. Good breakfast.
Certain areas of the hotel are tired. We had problems with the tv, but were able to change room.
Very good choice of breakfast.
Having to wait for bar staff to be on hand to get drinks. It seems they have so many jobs to do.
Location is excellent, staff also. Breakfast very good
The building looks a bit tired
Breakfast excellent. Location amazing. Dinner in evening at hotel superb. Staff fantastic.
Deluxe room - a little tired. Could do with a little paint around the edges, doors etc. Carpet tired, could do with a change. Would prefer a king bed in deluxe rooms.
Close to the cathedral and castle. Comfortable surroundings.
The location of this hotel was excellent for the castle and cathedral. Two of the three rooms had comfortable beds. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking was a bonus in central Lincoln, even though there was an overnight charge. My advice if you are attending a Graduation is to check in at the hotel but park in a local carpark for 24 hours to make sure you do not have the scramble to find a parking spot in the morning with the hundreds of other people!
The decoration of this hotel was very dated. It was clean but due to the decor it looked a bit grubby. One of the three rooms we had booked an accessible room which was ok however it did not have a hairdryer, which was a problem due to attending a local function. Luckily a family member was in the adjoining room, with a connecting door, and I was eventually able to source one, all be it a bit too late. The mattress on the bed needed upgrading as it was quite hard and you could feel metal structure of it. The carpets in all rooms needed renewing.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and really couldnt do enough for us. The hotel was great and well located and perfect for our needs. I would highly recommend and would use again myself
There was nothing i didnt like
Breakfast was ok with plenty of options. Beds were quite comfy. Shower worked well.
The hotel was tired,. carpets were dirty and the hotel was poorly decorated, it could do with being refurbished. Our "deluxe" room was dirty and shabby, furinture was chipped, one of the chair was stained, curtains smelt odd, there was a crack in the ceiling and coving, the wires on the tv were hanging loose and the carpet was dirty and stained. The bathroom door did not latch, the sink tap was very difficult to operate, the shower head was covered in limescale, the toilet seat was loose/wonky and the floor was dirty.
We went for a graduation ceremony in the cathedral and the hotel was in a great location as only five minutes walk from the cathedral
The bedrooms were extremely dated and the furniture desperately needs replacing. The bedrooms were very tired, including the Bathrooms three long black hairs were found in one of the Bathrooms.
The breakfast was very good
When we first entered the hotel we noticed that the carpet in the lobby was heavily stained
Location
Room very basic and furniture tired, bathroom needs updating
Location. Limited staff were helpful and friendly.
Rooms were in need of refurbishing.
very good customer service
The customer service was very good. The ladies at reception were really nice, polite and welcoming, and I have no complaints about the staff. Unfortunately, the room was a completely different story. We stayed in room 223 for just a few hours while travelling a long way for my daughter’s graduation. We only needed somewhere to change and freshen up before the ceremony, so we were not expecting anything luxurious. However, when we entered the room, I was honestly speechless. The bathroom was extremely disappointing — the floor was dirty, there was a very unpleasant smell, seemingly coming from the pipes, and the whole bathroom appeared to be in very poor condition. The mattress was badly worn and bent, the carpet was dirty, and the windows and other parts of the room looked old and neglected. Overall, the room was in a very poor state and clearly needs significant attention and refurbishment. I used to work in a hotel myself, and I was always taught that the guest’s first impression is extremely important. Unfortunately, there was simply no positive first impression here. I genuinely struggle to put into words how shocked I was when we walked into the room. I obviously cannot comment on the other rooms, as I have no idea what their condition is like, but room 223 was honestly unacceptable. The reception staff were lovely, but unfortunately the condition of the room completely overshadowed the otherwise good customer service.
Nothing
The room had cobwebs on window sill Plaster coming off the wall in the room Room was very dated The bath was chipped Rust on radiator valve in bathroom Awful stay No staff on the bar at night so we could get a soft drink No staff on reception at 6am to check out
The breakfast was very nice with lots of choices. The hotel was in an excellent location and the staff were very kind and helpful.
The only thing I can think of is parking should be included.
Location is great. Right next to the Cathedral quarter. Car park.
It’s due a refurbishment. Room was looking tired. In need of repairs to plaster, paintwork needs refresh, bedroom furniture is badly scratched, shower was difficult to switch on and off. Room was generally clean but there were areas that obviously hadn’t been touched for sometime, e.g. dusty shelves and carpet fluff against skirting boards.
Nice hotel great location
Perfect location - the cathedral was directly opposite the hotel. So a brilliant location for sightseeing. Breakfast overlooking the cathedral was special.
Perhaps some areas were a little ‘tired’ but not in anyway to detract from the stay.
It was exactly where we needed it to be
Expensive but only as it was bank holiday
Very good
No air con in room
The location and staff were faultless. The breakfast was simply devine. When we had forgotten our toothpaste the hotel were quick to contact us to let us know and asked whether they should throw them or if we wanted to come to collect them. We are very grateful as we were going onto a campsite 10 minutes away from the hotel and was able to pick them up.
The price is a little expensive for what you get but considering it's perfect location it is perfect. The clock on the cathedral ringing at 15 minute intervals was a little frustrating.
Breakfast was great, room was clean and bathroom new. Location is excellent for the cathedral quarter.
The room was quite small, the TV positioned to the side of the bed, and there was nowhere for both of us to sit.
Great location
Breakfast was good but the arrangements for seating were a nightmare And table clearing slow
La posizione
My husband has a disability and the hotel met all his needs. The accessible room made our stay more relaxing and we will stay there again.
Nothing
Location - near the cathedral, bus stops right outside and nice bar and outdoor space.
A fridge in the room would have been nice.
The location was excellent, staff friendly. A lovely place to stay but could do with a bit of tlc, it was obviously a top hotel at one point but is looking a little tired.
Guests should not have to pay for parking in hotel car park.
Breakfast was exceptional, car parking very good, staff very friendly and obliging. Room was OK. Location was amazing with a view of the Cathedral. Just a short stroll to restaurants, cathedral and castle.
The room was OK and clean but very tired and in need of redecoration. The room overlooked the car park and was above reception and quite noisy. The room was quite dark and could do with being able to open the heavy curtains during the day but as there were no other covering for the window we had to close it to put lights on.
The location & spacious rooms
That the price didn't include breakfast
Great location, good breakfast, friendly staff
Room was very dated,needs decorating
Roomy room. Excellent breakfast. Good location
Everything was fine
The location and view from the dining/breakfast room were very good.
The room, whilst comfortable and clean was a bit tired - especially the bathroom. Decor is obviously a subjective thing, but the bar area seems to be stuck in the 80s, as were the transparent polycarbonate chairs in the dining room (but apparently they're still sold today). I just didn't feel safe on them.
The breakfast was excellent. The car park was a real advantage ( question having to pay extra for it after paying for the room?)
Just feel the rooms could do with a bit of an update but perfectly adequate.
Lovely quiet and comfortable room. Reception staff very friendly (cant remember her name). Car parking no problem. Great location.
Overall, the hotel could use a little TLC, but that's not to say it was a problem.
Quiet
At the far end ,room was dated needed a good clean, cracks in bathroom bath ,furniture was old and marked room carpet not good and no toilet brush
Plenty of parking, a clean room with two comfortable single beds. Breakfast was excellent, very good choice of food. A great location close to the cathedral and castle.
Daily parking charge (£7) felt a bit steep. Some of the overall decor is looking tired and needs refreshing.
Excellent location and breakfast.
Had to pay for car park.
Grsat view
The place needs a little tlc!
Location was perfect. Right beside the old town of Lincoln City and bustling with culture. The Cathedral next door is exceptional and is absolutely brimming with history. The old Lincoln Gaol is just a short walk and the tour is definitely worth doing. Around the immediate locality is the old city of Lincoln with an impressive street named Steep hill just around the corner from the hotel. At the top are some really good traditional shops and further down the hill has some great restaurants and bars. Be warned. If you treck down you must come back up and the street lives up to its name. But well worth a nosey around.
Hotel was ok, lacked a little cleanliness and could do with a paint job. I wasn't happy about being charged to park in the car park after paying for my room.
Great view of the cathedral from the room. Updated clean bathroom. Lovely staff and an excellent breakfast. The car park was good value too. Very well situated for the cathedral and castle.
The room was tired with a grubby carpet, peeling paintwork round the window and no functioning air conditioning. Even with both windows open we had a very sweaty night.
Location. Friendly staff.
Not that well equipped for the heat wave! Eggs benedict at breakfast were a little trying.
The location was incredible - super convenient for the cathedral and surrounding area. Parking was easy to access. It was nice to be able to arrive to Lincoln and not have to drive anymore. Breakfast was good and the room was comfortable.
We were there during the heatwave and the room was hot. We'd brought our own fan in preparation but it would be nice if the hotel proactively offered fans or similar when it gets to 30 degrees.
We stayed for a few days in August, the location was excellent! The staff were exceptional! Very welcoming! The bed was very comfortable too, every thing was really clean!
The property itself could do with a bit of updating, but that was about the only thing, it didn’t spoil our enjoyment of staying there!
-The staff were absolutely delightful! -Amazing location. -Comfortable rooms. -Good breakfast with a wide selection, including excellent local cheese.
-The room looked a little dated/needed maintenance.
Great breakfast in a lovely dining room with wonderful views. Great location for some superb shops.
The beds were not very well made, in fact we had to make them again before going to bed.
Breakfast good and good air conditioned public areas
The room was dangerously hot, no fridge to accommodate cold drinks and medicines. Fan provided only moved warm air around. No drinking bottles provided and cold water in tap ran very hot! Unable to enjoy a cold shower.
very unclean
Perfect location. Room was lovely only thing no air conditioning. But they provided us with 2 fans. Staff were lovely
No A/C in the bedrooms
The view of the cathedral was excellent. The bed was really comfortable and the room was a really good size.
The balcony hadn't been cleaned recently and there were lots of cobwebs on the partitions. The sink and bath were slow to drain.
Location excellent
Reception needed a good vacuum when we arrived
Great location, beds very comfy
Lack of Air Con made the room too hot, parts of the hotel need a refurb, however room cost would likely be higher then
Location was good
Bathroom was filthy - black mould on the ceiling & around the bath / shower Only 2 plug sockets worked Lighting very poor It was convenient for why we were there but for the price I expected FAR better
De locatie en de rust.
Oud, en een penetrante geur in de gangen.
This was booked as a present for my granddaughter and her boyfriend .Many moons ago in 1972 I spent my honeymoon there . My granddaughter loved it abd the staff are so friendly .
Clean and friendly staff
No AC in room and fan provided was rubbish had a balcony no chairs on it would have been nice to enjoy the nice evenings and view
Breakfast was good
Sneakily charged for parking decour poor needs updating lift was not working
Lovely room overlooking the garden with patio area
B3d slightly lumpy
Very Nice room, with terrace, super breakfast
Hygiene in the bathroom, they did apologise
Room was clean, comfortable bed, good blackout curtains. Breakfast also good. Location excellent, easy parking.
Everything came up to expectations! Sure, it was a bit 'dated' but we knew that in advance, The fittings, fixtures, shower room towels etc worked well and were very clean. As there was no air conditioning the provision of the floor standing 3 speed fan was vital, adequate and 'did the job' given exceptionally hot weather. The Toiletries were good (personally I would have preferred body lotion rather than shower gel when only staying 1 or 2 nights. but location, free safe parking on-site and great staff are what REALLY count!! Given that the room rates were significantly lower than recent short stays in Travelodge and Premier Inns, I would recommend 100%.
Nothing
Excellent location, lifts to different levels. Some lovely staff especially on reception. Very good breakfast.
Some steps after getting out of lift awkward when carrying luggage. Some of the seating in the lounge needs refreshing.
Location was great , staff friendly and communal areas very nice.
Room very tired, dirty stained carpet. Marked and dirty paint work. Mattress has seen better days . Very uncomfortable.
Staff were very kind and relocated us to a room on the ground floor as my husband cannot manage stairs. We had an excellent meal on the first evening in the restaurant which has a fabulous view of Lincoln Cathedral.
We had room service for breakfast on the second day as the lift wasn't working. Unfortunately it wasn't very good as my husband ordered 2 poached eggs on toast and we received 1 poached egg with no toast.
Location and car Park
It is a bit dated
Fantastic location and helpful staff make this quirky hotel an ideal spot for a visit to Lincoln.
Location amazing and staff were extremely friendly.
Bed was not the most comfortable, and the room was quite stuffy and hot.
Friendly staff, great views of Cathedral. Perfect location.
Was v close to cathedral, castle & all historic sites. Bus stop right outside & opp side for going into town. Staff friendly, efficient. Breakfast looking out onto the cathedral was lovely.
Nothing
It would've been helpful to have been told in advance that I needed to provide bank details to the reception desk to cover my room, in spite of paying in advance for the room
Location excellent and staff very helpful and friendly.
Initial room we were given had a very bad smell - damp, tired, worn. Second room had an issue with the key card. We were finally moved to a cathedral view room which was much nicer, although very warm (large fan provided).
Breakfast was good choice
Shower flooded the bathroom , had to chase for plates and teabags for breakfast
Central location, splendid views, polite attentive staff.
Air con not working in the room, but fan supplied instead
Great Location and nice Restaurant.
Breakfast was ok, nothing special in a hotel of this size. Room was small (shower a joke) but adequate for my needs. Location is superb for all main attractions. Someone is going to demolish this jaded building and build a superb hotel on this site in the next ten years.
Had I booked the hotel direct, I would not have had to pay £7.00 a night (£21.00) parking charges and would have received a complimentary welcome pack. I was furious when I discovered this at check-in. The very nice lady on reception (Angeliana?) was very apologetic but told me there was nothing she could do. I picked this hotel on the basis that it had (or so I thought)nfree parking. Unless I am refunded the £21.00 I will be bookong direct with hotels and not using Booking.com
Location - ideal for Cathedral visits
Bathroom - needs a refresh / tile clean
Lovely room, nice balcony, staff were lovely
The tv was poor. Channel selection poor and kept losing signal. The fan was poor in a hot night. It needs proper air conditioning - quality of sleep was not good because it was too hot. A few bottles of water would have been better - especially since it is a deluxe room..
Receptionist was lovely delicious breakfast perfect location 😋
Nothing
Good sized room with comfortable bed overlooking the Cathedral. Good WiFi. Easy parking on site which cost £7/ day. Fan provided to help cool down room in the summer heat.
No air con but knew this when booking.
Good parking for the location just a small walk to the Cathedral and Castle and eateries perfect
nothing to say
Nothing
Very run down, smelt of wee, we paid for an upgrade to a superior room which was absolutely awful, the balcony was dirty and had a trench type hole at the back. The bed was so worn out the mattress had two huge dips in it and the furniture looked like it was very old. We asked the manager to be moved to another room and he said they were all in the same condition. He didn’t hesitate to refund us which makes me think the hotel has been like this for a while. Booking.com you really should not be advertising this place.
Location
There's no pride in the place. It's in need of a total refurbishment.
The location was excellent. Could not be any better.
The evening meal was a disappointment. 5/10. It did not appear to be freshly made. The fish was overcooked and in a tomato/chorizo/bean sauce that was not fresh. The pate was served on an enormous stale/hard white bun which i didnt eat and the man on the next table left as well. Dessert! Crumble, lacking ffuit served in a shortcrust pastry tart. Not good.
Location
Dated poor facilities
I liked the view of the cathedral and the street below. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Parking round back is great but costs £7 a night. Bed was very comfortable..not too hard or too soft, and we had a very decent night's sleep which was probably helped by the cathedral's chiming clock being turned off during the night.
Well of course the decor is a bit shabby and dated looking...however the cleanliness was acceptable and the staff were ok so we didn't mind. In any case we spent most of our time looking out at the incredible view which included the huge statue of the poet Tennyson and his hound.
The Lincoln Hotel is looking very tired, the rooms desperately need an upgrade, but the staff were very nice. Unfortunately because of the rooms we will not stay again.
The rooms need refurbishing, we understand that is extremely expensive, but it needs to happen.
Great location
Very dated. no air conditioning. Public areas did not seem very clean.
Location
Old tired shabby dirty paint peeling bathrooms are poor and falling apart
