My husband and I stayed at Sandals Barbados for our honeymoon and had an amazing time!! Kiara at the front desk was so helpful and pleasant! At the infinity pool we enjoyed games and trivia with Trey and Suki and Dj Dash kept the music vibes going! All of the staff were so friendly wherever we went which made our stay extra enjoyable. The food everywhere was great! We especially loved lunch at Neptunes and the sushi at Soy for dinner. The couples massage at the spa was definitely a must, so relaxing and great atmosphere! We also did the catamaran snorkeling cruise which was amazing! Overall it was a great week and we are so happy we came!
A wonderful second honeymoon at Sandals Royal Barbados 🌴❤️ We visited Sandals Royal Barbados in August 2026 for our second honeymoon and had an absolutely wonderful stay. The resort is beautiful, but the biggest highlight for us was definitely the staff. They were exceptional throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble and everyone was helpful, friendly and polite. One thing that really stood out was that whenever members of staff passed you around the resort, they would always acknowledge you with a “good morning”, “good afternoon” or a friendly hello. It sounds like a small thing, but it made the resort feel incredibly welcoming. A special mention has to go to the staff in the Club Sandals Lounge. They were absolutely lovely, so friendly, welcoming and helpful every time we went in. They always made time for you and were happy to help with anything we needed. They really added to our experience and are a credit to the resort. We loved the choice of restaurants, bars and different areas to relax, and having access to the neighbouring Sandals Barbados gave us even more choice. There was plenty to do, but it was also easy to find somewhere to simply relax and enjoy being on holiday. We made a point of getting out and exploring Barbados too, and some of our happiest memories were the excursions we did together. We had such a good time seeing more of the island and experiencing Barbados beyond the resort. The sea wasn’t great during our stay, which was a shame, but obviously that is completely outside Sandals’ control and we certainly wouldn’t mark the resort down for it. Our only disappointment was the lack of acknowledgement that we were celebrating our second honeymoon. Before travelling, I completed the requested information and sent our wedding certificate confirming the occasion. Because of this, we thought there might be a small acknowledgement or special touch during our stay, but unfortunately nothing was done. It certainly didn’t spoil our holiday, but even a small gesture would have made an already special trip feel that little bit more personal. One of the loveliest touches actually came when we were leaving. When we were collected by the complimentary Sandals shuttle, the staff came out and sang a goodbye song to us. We thought that was brilliant! It was such a lovely and memorable way to finish our stay and we left with huge smiles on our faces. Overall, we absolutely loved Sandals Royal Barbados. The resort was lovely, the service was excellent and the staff really made the holiday for us. It was a fantastic choice for our second honeymoon and we came home with some wonderful memories. We would definitely recommend Sandals Royal Barbados and would happily return.
Loved our trip to Sandals Royal Barbados for our 25th anniversary, it was amazing! The resort is absolutely beautiful, big shout out to all of the hard working gardeners! The property is large but walkable, many pools, restaurants, bars, etc. You get the benefit of this resort and Sandals Barbados but they are just like one big resort, just a tiny walk way to separate them. The staff were always friendly and helpful, a few that really stood out and made our trip wonderful, our butler team - Shanice, Denese, and Nicola, they took great care of us, you ladies rock! Kadri and Janelle at Butches Chophouse, excellent customer service, this was our favorite dinner. Nakem and Zaden bartenders at lobby bar Barbados side, these guys are so much fun and make excellent expresso martini's. Harriet at schooners so sweet. Shonelle A at Soy/Kimonos. Crystal bartender next to spices. James our driver from airport. Our house keepers (dont have their names) they were always taking great care of our room. All of the staff were great. We did the Oistin's fish fry, great food and fun. Excursion was fun but long, snorkeled with the turtles, ate some local food and got to see much of the island. Got to see a family of monkeys on resort one evening, so adorable. Your vacation is what you make of it, you can't base your experience on the negativity of others; smile, be nice and respectful. This was our 7th Sandals trip, first to Barbados, we definitely recommend this resort and can't wait til our next trip here.
By experience here for the first time it was magical. It was Home. It was culture. It was everything. I imagined Barbadoes you owe me nothing!!
We stayed at the Sandals Royal Barbados for 7 days and enjoyed every minute of it. Barbados is a beautiful country and the people are so incredibly nice. This was also our first experience with the Butler Service. Our butlers Rashida, Shalana and Kareem were extremely helpful and took care of us the entire time. My wife and I would highly recommend Barbados and their lovely Butler teams!
We didn’t really love the Sandals Royal Barbados vibe. There was so much work being done around the resort during our stay. Breakfast at Bombay was blah, and Cornelia never seemed to be in a good mood 😁. Lunch at American Tavern was okay, nothing amazing. Spices, where breakfast is served, was still being worked on. The pool by Portofino’s, the Italian restaurant, always looked like it was never really clean. I even tried to clean it myself, but the pool skimmer didn’t have a net on it. They really need to show more love to that area. There also weren’t any deep pools to swim in, which was unfortunate. We stayed Club Level Ocean View, room 1408, and we loved the view of the ocean. There weren’t any towel hangers on the balcony, and the room felt a little rushed in terms of the finishing touches. There was still spackle on our bathroom door, and one of our drawers was a little messed up. We also had to hold the toilet handle down every time for it to flush properly. Our cleaning lady, Krystal, was amazing. She really kept our room clean every day. The sargassum was really bad while we were there, although I will give them credit because they tried to clean it up every day. Luckily, we came to Barbados a few days before our Sandals stay and stayed in St. James, where the water was beautiful. We also found out that you could take a bus from the resort at 10 in the morning and get dropped off at a nearby beach, then get picked back up around 3. It was interesting because once you got about a 10-minute drive away from the resort, the beaches started to look a lot nicer. There were definitely some good things. The donut shop was amazing! On our last day, August 16th, the lady working at the donut shop that morning, whose name started with a K, had such a great vibe. I wish I could remember her name because she really stood out to us. Butch’s by Bombay was really good, and Bombay was also good for dinner. Jessica, Molisa, Sagine, Roshawan, Raheem, Rosen, Samir, Damanique, and Samon made my birthday special, and we really appreciated them. The pizza by the beach was amazing. The bartenders kept the drinks coming, and I really loved how some of them made our mojitos. Unfortunately, Raheem and another gentleman at the Sky Rooftop on August 10th around 8:30 had some bad attitudes. One gentleman slammed an ice tray on the ground, and it made things very awkward. We left immediately. Some people were friendly, but a lot of others weren’t. That was just my observation during our stay. Cool Runnings catamaran was awesome. I really liked how they treated us. Harrison’s Cave, the rum tour and cooking class were all fun, but they definitely need to coordinate the pickup times better. Flower Cave was just dangerous in my opinion and honestly nothing great about it 😩. And the welcome dinner for Emerald, Sapphire, etc.? Disrespectful 😂. We were actually mad that we missed the opportunity to try another restaurant because we went to it. It felt like no thought went into the dinner at all. And then we got another bottle of Jamaican rum again 🤷🏾♂️. This was our sixth Sandals, and unfortunately, it will be our last. I think we’re just done with the franchise. There were some good moments and some great staff members, but overall this Sandals just didn’t do it for us. Even though it was my birthday month and I had the opportunity to lock in a deal for another Sandals with a $250 down payment, I decided not to. I know that meant missing out on getting another vacation at a cheaper price, but that’s okay. At this point, we’re ready to try something different. I’d give Sandals Royal Barbados a 7 out of 10.
Accommodations, dining, atmosphere, entertainment and, most of all, the staff all received my 5 star rating… having been my first experience at a Sandals resort and based on my stay at Sandals Royal Barbados, I will be booking another stay at a Sandals resort…
First time to a Sandals and we had a lovely time. the staff cannot do enough for you particularly the bar staff at the SS pool bar! Food was delicious we never had a bad meal but standout was the Parisienne and we really enjoyed getting our smoothies from Heart and Sol after the gym. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and rooms lovely and spacious everywhere is clean. We stayed in Club level south seas with balcony tub. We did have a couple of hiccups with the room but they were resolved and did not spoil our visit. We would definitely book a Sandals again. Also worth while if you snorkel / dive was like swimming in a fish tank over in Carlisle Bay! Aside from resort our favourite day was the sunset cruise with SilverMoon - was fabulous! Also if there for a while worth hiring a car for a day or two to explore the island - super easy to get around.
The grounds at Sandals Royal Barbados were lush and beautiful and well maintained during our stay. The butler service was always available and was outstanding with the three of ours working very well together. Since the seaweed was a problem, workers were raking daily to remove it and the resort also provided transport to a different location on the island that wasn't affected. Great customer service!
Very clean resort (inside and out). Many, many great pools (with the best at the rooftop- our favorite). Plenty of helpful staff, but some below the normal Sandals standards (in my opinion). The water aerobics instructor was just "phoning it in", and several others (restaurants, bars) not much better. Night time entertainment was good, but basically the same every night. We had an amazing time, but have been to many other Sandals with better activities, better entertainment and staff who were more invested in making this a top tier experience.
We absolutely love it here! It was our fourth time this Christmas. Lots of restaurants to choose from- it is basically one resort with Sandals Barbados. Staff are usually very friendly. You can always get a sunbed, but if you want a particular bed by one of the busy pools, you will have to claim it early!
We have just returned from a magnificent 14-night stay, where the holiday blues have severely kicked in (travel dates 25th July to 8th August 2026). This was our 5th Sandals (previously visited St Lucia La Toc, Grenada Curacao and St Vincent) and has become our favourite. There wasn’t much price difference between the Royal side and the Barbados side. As we have never done ‘club’ level before we booked to stay on the Royal side to give it a try. Taxi Transfer - Leaving the arrival hall there was a fellow holding a Sandals sign that guided us to the taxi pick up point. Waited about 5 minutes for the taxi to arrive, where it was a private transfer that took about 15 minutes. Check in – we were greeted with a cool towel, mimosa and a lady singing the Sandals welcome song. We had already completed check in prior to arrival (via app) so check in was very swift, just a matter of signing a few things and being handed the keycard. Check in this time was done in the club sandals lounge. Access to this was 24 hours and featured access to books, snacks, coffee machine, a fridge with beers/soft drinks and an array of spirits on the counter. One of the benefits of club was that we could reserve our a la carte restaurant reservations there and then for our whole 2 week stay instead of going to culinary reservation desk that is featured on the Barbados side. We managed to book Butches on the app prior to arrival. Not sure if it’s just this site but they seem to have changed the a la carte reservation system and applied limits to the number of visits allowed. They said this has been changed to allow other guests a chance of visiting the restaurants that require reservations. You are therefore only allowed 1 visit per a la carte restaurant per week (so 4 a week as there are 4 restaurants that require reservations). On the first week we did all 4 but on the second week we only did 2 (didn’t want a repeat visit to Fusion or the French). We asked if we could do the two Butches again in lieu of not wanting to visit the Fusion/French but weren’t allowed. Room - we only use the room to sleep and get a shower, the rest of the time we are too busy enjoying the resort and facilities. Our home for the next 2 weeks was in the Poinciana Building (8 on the map). Access to our room faced a residential area and road. We are always up with the larks anyway on holiday, however if we were planning a lie in it would have been spoiled by the neighbourhood cockerels and dogs that were intermittently crowing and barking during the early hours. The room was just like any other Sandals room we have stayed in - very commodious, tastefully decorated, had plenty of storage space, plug sockets were dotted about everywhere and were all US ones (plenty of USB ports too). The bed and pillows were really comfy. Wi-fi worked excellent around all parts of the complex. There were several mirrors and decent lighting and featured a bath on the balcony. Only used the TV for background noise when we were getting ready on a night and there were plenty of English-speaking channels. The air con worked well and didn’t make much noise. A safe, hair dryer, 2 x umbrellas, ice bucket (ice machines located on all floors, however the one next to our room didn’t work and this was even after an engineer was sent to look into it), iron, ironing board, bath robes, glasses, coffee machine and kettle were provided as standard. The fridge was stocked with 2 x orange juice, 2 x fruit juice, 2 x cokes, 2 x sprite, 2 x diet coke, 2 x still water, 2 x cans of Banks beer, 1 x bottle of red wine and 1 x bottle of white wine. With being Club level, the room featured no frills litre bottles of Vodka, Whisky, Rum and Gin. This was handy to have as normally being non-club we have to bring drinks back from the bar for getting ready on a night. The fridge also featured a bottle of sparkling wine that was replenished daily. Every Sandals we’ve visited there are days where items don’t get replenished like the wine, beers or the coffee (this normally starts to happen on day 4). This was rectified by calling housekeeping or using GINA. Remember to turn on the ‘housekeeping required’ button otherwise your room won’t be cleaned. We forgot to do it one day and the room wasn’t cleaned. We weren’t fussed about the room not being cleaned but just needed clean towels. This was easily fixed by calling the front desk who arranged extra towels ASAP. Gym – The gym was decent sized but some of the equipment seemed a little dated (we did manage to get a decent work out in though). One of the treadmills was out of operation as there was something that resembled a bear’s claw through the belt and they didn’t have the interactive running routes that the other Sandals treadmills have. There was no rowing machine or cable machine. Someone was continuously hiding the remote for the TVs. On one occasion it was hidden underneath the fruit bowl and then a few occasions we couldn’t find it at all so not sure why that was happening. There were always sanitising wipes, towels, water and cups available. Pool and beach – there are an excellent selection of pools at this resort catering for everyone’s needs. We knew the roof top pool would be right up our street as it got the sun all day, it was quiet and there were no parasols/canopies that would encroach our sunbathing spots and cover us in shade. The direction of the sun rose from where the airport is (also got a good view of all the planes landing) and went directly over so that it set just where Butches on the Barbados side is. We used to lose the sun on the roof top about 16:45 but we used to head down and sit on the benches outside the pub where you go it for another 45 minutes. The roof top pool had everything we needed – swimming pool, a nice breeze, comfy sunbeds, peace and quiet, hot tub, great views, a fantastic bar, toilet and sunshine. We pretty much had the roof top to ourselves most days. As with the other Sandals we have visited the towel cabinets are plentiful, all fully stocked and replenished by the attentive pool lads. All the pools were open during our visit. It does take the weight off when you don’t need to get up the crack of dawn to reserve a sunbed. Even walking down past the party/infinity pool there were loads of sunbeds free at the peak times. Reading previous TripAdvisor reviews, they were making out that the beach was plagued with seaweed, this is not the case. The sand was just as good as we remembered it when we last visited Barbados in 2019, white, fluffy and soft. You literally have to walk down to the shoreline to see any of the seaweed even then it’s just a small amount, there was no seaweed on the main beach itself. There was plenty of sunbeds on the beaches too. They didn’t have the yellow floating rings like they had in Curacao or St Vincent, so we missed them. We also loved the tubing that they did in St Vincent but didn’t do it here. We love a good pool foam party and asked if they did one here (they did one in Grenada), unfortunately they didn’t (but they used to) hopefully it is something that can be reintroduced as they are great fun. Restaurants/eateries – never been to a Sandals that had so many places to eat and drink, we were totally spoilt for choice. The first morning we popped into Salty’s to reacquaint ourselves with the Frangelico, Jameson’s and bailey’s coffees (haven’t had one since last year in St Vincent). Mercia served us on our first day and after that had our orders down to a T, ready and waiting. We don’t normally have a sweet tooth but some of the donuts and treats were fantastic – the pistachio donut, red velvet donut, the quad donut and the peanut butter brownies became our favourites (all made in house in the kitchen out the back). As per out last few visits to Sandals two weeks before departure the app allowed you to make a dinner reservation for the first week. We thought this was a lovely touch again and booked Butches for the first Wednesday night. We mentioned at the beginning that they have limited the number of visits per week to the a la cartes, we were therefore only allowed 1 visit per a la carte restaurant per week (so 4 a week as there are 4 restaurants that require reservations). Not sure if this applies to this resort only as it didn’t happen last year. Last year in St Vincent we visited Butches 7 times during our 2-week stay. This year we visited the 2 different Butches 4 times and the Fusion (Fusion has the bottles of Kirin Japanese beer) and French once. We didn’t want a second visit to the French or Fusion and asked if we could visit Butches in lieu, but this wasn’t allowed. We ate twice at Portofino’s (no air-con) for breakfast the rest of the time we ate breakfast at the Greenhouse which has air-con. Just like to say we had the best Bloody Mary ever at the Greenhouse. The service and food were excellent at both restaurants. We used morning room service for this first time ever as we had upgraded to club. We only did this as we wanted to try the breakfast burrito which was on the menu (we asked at the American Tavern if they did these but didn’t). The breakfast burrito was fantastic, and needs introducing into the breakfast menu at the other restaurants. Didn’t take long for room service, I think the first time we used it took about 10 minutes & the 2nd time it took about 20 minutes. All the restaurants we visited both the service and food were on point, we tasted some excellent, scrumptious food. The best steak we had was at the Greenhouse (even better than Butches), this was one of our favourite places to eat for breakfast and dinner. The resort needs to improve the advertisement of the hot dog stall. We only found out about this as we sat on one of the snug areas one night in Lovers Lane where the hot dog stall was in situ. We contracted GINA to confirm the opening times which was daily 12 – 14:00. There is a menu provided but some of the ingredients were not available (pulled pork was only available once), however you were allowed to build your own. We piled ours with chilli meat, bacon, sauteed onions, Jalapenos and cheese. We had a hotdog every day once we found out about it. This was the same as Grenada (we provided feedback whilst there highlighting that it needs to be advertised more) & we only found about the hot dog stand over there in our last week. Feedback is needed for this one too and Sandals need to start adding the hot dog stall to the resort map, the app & the paper meal planner/schedule. We also enquired about the beef and chicken patties, as they had them in Grenada and St Vincent. Unfortunately, they didn’t do them at this site, so additional feedback would be to see if they could be introduced here at the Jerk shack. We looked at the pizza menu prior to arrival & the menu was different to the other Sandals ones, most of the choices we weren’t keen on. When we ordered at Dino’s we seen that they have the other pizzas choices on the order form, the one we loved from the previous Sandals i.e. the meat lovers. We normally got a pizza about 5ish (closed at 6pm) & we had to wait about 15-20 minutes which wasn’t long. Each pizza was so tasty and perfectly crafted. We also noticed the dress code in the a la cartes wasn’t being adhered to, & plenty of male guests wearing shorts. Might as well ditch the trouser dress code Sandals. We need to get something off our chest regarding the building work that is ongoing (and looks to be ongoing for a while) & the poor communication between Sandals operations and the guests. We booked this holiday September 2025 directly with Sandals UK, not once during the booking process were told that there would be construction work going on during our stay. We had to pay the holiday off 10 weeks before arrival, & once again were not told about any construction work. On our first morning we noticed all the rooms in blocks 17 and 18 on the map were hollow & had been gutted. There were no ceilings or furniture in these rooms. Each room was having a major overhaul. The backs of these rooms are like a construction site where areas have been cordoned off with blue & white boards. The first morning we fancied eating at the French restaurant for breakfast. This didn’t open till 7.30, but we were up there at about 7.20 and couldn’t see any team member nor did the tables look decorated for breakfast. We waited until 7.30 & decided to enter the restaurant. It was like a ghost town; no one was there and there was no one in the kitchen. Scratching our heads, we went to Portofino’s instead. We asked one of the team members why it wasn’t open & they said its closed until the renovation works are completed (it’s open on an evening though as the builders are finished for the day). They said it gets too noisy with the construction work so have closed breakfast service for the foreseeable future. Needless to say, we were fuming, not once did Sandals inform during the booking stage, the payment stage nor the arrival/check in stage that this was closed or any of the other restaurants were closed. The app showed that the restaurant was open and you could view the menu. GINA was contacted immediately about this where we got an AI response of ‘Parisienne is closed for breakfast we have other options available for breakfast including American Tavern, Green House, Heat & Sol, Bombay, Portofino’s & Schooners open daily for breakfast’. After breakfast we went sunbathing on the roof top, between breakfast operating hours of La Parisienne another 6 guests turned up wanting to visit the restaurant for breakfast. We couldn’t let them stand around like we did so approached them & informed them breakfast was closed here for the foreseeable future. These guests immediately became disappointed with this news, they also said they hadn’t been informed of this (hence why they turned up). On first morning during the la Parisienne breakfast operating times we were acting as Sandals staff members & should have been on the payroll for those hours. Despite raising on GINA nothing more was done. A few days later another couple turned up and were standing there wanting to visit for breakfast, once again we had to get our Sandals customer liaison role on & instructed guests that it was closed. We also informed them about the hot dog stand, & they were chuffed as they knew nothing about it. After that incident we were going to write a note & stick it on the door telling the guests it was closed. Checking the app now it looks like they have removed Parisienne as a breakfast choice. The night we went to the French restaurant we spoke to one of the team about it being closed for breakfast. They said they have put it on in Schooners instead. Again, not once were we told of this. Next morning we decided to go to Schooners, we turned up at 7.30 on the dot was closed. Again, we were fuming, as it was our first time down to Schooners we seen that there were construction boards up opposite. Looking on the map, this is where Spices was. Hmm we thought why is Spices closed as it was still showing on the app as being open? We weren’t informed of this. We then went to the Greenhouse instead & asked why Schooners was closed for breakfast, they said because Spices is closed due to the work & they don’t want to open Schooners because of the noise (Schooners was open on a night-time though). once again we were not told that Spices was closed during our stay. This work meant the French wasn’t open for breakfast & apparently it had been moved to Schooners but that wasn’t the case as Schooners was closed on a morning due to the work that was going on in Spices which was fully closed during our 14-night stay. The construction work disrupted 3 eateries whilst there, we knew we weren’t going to starve but it’s the fact we weren’t getting what we paid for. On top of that we weren’t getting told anything by those in Sandals operations prior to arrival nor on site. A really bad example of shoddy communication. The noise off the construction work is bad & isn’t aesthetically pleasing to the eye. On building 18 the front of it was completely covered in scaffoldin. Noise includes drilling, hammering, banging, sawing, cement mixes, vehicles constantly reversing, engines humming due to the cherry picker that is in constant use. You will hear these noises on the roof pool, the infinity pool and even if you’re on the beach. Bars –the watering holes are in abundance over the two resorts; this is one of the reasons why booked this holiday. It was great being reunited with a Sandals pub again, the last 2 new resorts (St Vincent and Curacao) didn’t have one & was sadly missed. They had the same drinks as per St Lucia Grenada i.e. bottles of Stella, bottles of Strongbow cider and cans of Guinness (plenty of Irish car bombs went down the hatch). The pub was quite a size & featured a snooker table & a pool table. We tried the English Sunday dinner & give it 10/10, Yorkshire puddings were spot on and were crispy, light & fluffy, the gravy was authentic too. Just need to say a big thanks to David who was one of the food and beverage managers. He managed to get his hands on a carton of Ribena so we could have a cider & black. We were absolutely overjoyed with this lovely gesture, thanks David. We couldn’t get enough of Lover’s lane, an absolute fab concept. Loved the little snug booth areas outside with the TVs, the remotes are available from the bowling shoe counter. The bowling alley was great (opens 2pm till 11pm don’t forget your socks, shoes have both English & US sizing). Best time to go was 17.45ish as no one was there. Your limited to 35 mins & there’s plenty of games to chose from. When it’s busy they give you a buzzer indicating when it’s your turn. They did international beers including -Barbados brew house mahogany bay stout, Brew house Round rock IPA, Belgium Duvel, Canada Molson Canadian pale lager, Germany Becks, Paulaner Hefe Weiss, Italy Peroni, Netherlands Grolsch, USA – Anchor Steam, Blue Moon, Sam Adams Boston Lager, Shiner Rock, Sierra Nevada, Jamaica Red Stripe & Mexico Pacifico. Miscellaneous - the grounds are magnificent & are immaculately maintained. The groundsmen all do a cracking job with the husbandry of it all. The hygiene attendants also did a cracking job with keeping all the areas such as bins, floors & toilets all nip and clean. Check out – was 11:00am but our flight wasn’t till 17:00 & we weren’t getting picked up till 14:00. We had to enquire on the morning of departure if you could keep the room on. If we weren’t allowed to the keep the room on, we could use the departure lounge to get a shower. We peeked inside & there was plenty of showers, a hairdryer, toilets, clean towels & was air conditioned. We were allowed to the keep the room on till 13:00 for free which meant we had an hour before we got picked up. Overall, we had another fantastic Sandals holiday. This has now become our favourite & will come back in a heartbeat. We achieved our free week whilst there and have our sights on visiting Beaches Turks and Caicos. The weather was glorious, we came back with a cracking tan and loved not having to worry about getting a sunbed . We tasted & sampled some fantastic food and drinks. You can’t tell that it’s stretched over two separate resorts, it’s like one big mega resort. You might be thinking why are we giving it 5/5 despite our grumblings. The answer is the positives outweigh the negatives; we didn’t let these few hiccups spoil the fantastic holiday. We just want to say a further thanks to the following – Joachim , Hide, Alicia (sky bar-made some fab drinks), Crystal, Rashid, Ryan, Shyantio (all from sky bar) Blaire, Renaldo and Renico (bowling alley bar), Jasmina, Tricia & Ingrid (two hostess’), Ariston (pub), Josiah &Jermiah (Greenhouse), Sophia (hot dog) David (food & beverage manager who brought us the Ribena), Mercia (Salty’s), Kerry Anne & Avery (Butches)
Awesome experience and great resort!! Better time than we expected. Drinks were strong and bartenders were lively. Definitely recommend.
Excellent resort! Will be back. Shout outs to: Hostess Kelly-Ann Service Manager Shamika Photographer Dario “Miami” Butches Server Dario Front Desk Mekalia All top of the line for customer service. Best Sandals out of FIVE we have been to.
We really enjoyed our stay and our butler team was unbelievable. Jake, Abigail, Raphaella and Shameka were all amazing. As a team they were unbelievable and made sure we enjoyed our stay to the max. We will for sure request them again for our next visit. Also we can’t forget Dwane aka Energy at the lobby bar. We met him years back on our honeymoon and were so glad he was still working there. He makes sure to make the piano bar a blast at night time. We have 0 complaints on our stay and can’t wait to visit this beautiful country again
We had a great time. The food was good. Great time at Kimonos with Noi! The only complaint I had while I was there was some days they didn’t put but one towel in the room when they cleaned. We had to either call housekeeping or track down someone to get more. The property is beautiful and not far from the airport.
We celebrated our 30th anniversary at Sandals and stayed in a Rondoval suite, which features a private pool and a soaking tub right beside it. While the suite itself was wonderful, the absolute highlight was the exceptional service that came with it. Our butlers—Kemar, Andreas, Annaleah, and Krystal—made the entire trip unforgettable. They anticipated our every need, from keeping the in-room bar fully stocked and delivering drinks and lunch poolside, to bringing dinner from our favorite restaurants right to the suite. They also reserved chairs for us at the pools and beach and made sure a cooler full of beverages was always waiting. If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, book a Rondoval suite and specifically request this outstanding butler team. We already know we’ll be returning and asking for them again.
We loved the property, the service, and all the amenities the Royal Barbados Sandals had to offer. The staff was incredible, helpful, and made you feel welcomed. The room accommodations were clean, large spaces with beautiful balcony views, and updated decor to make it a very relaxing experience. The restaurant selections were outstanding and the food was delicious. There is a pool to fit anyones day of relaxation and activity pleasure. We were so pleased with the overall quality and experience we received and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
The staff here is awesome. Very attentive, polite and friendly. The resort is beautiful, lots of restaurants, pools and spacious. Bars everywhere no long wait times. The room could use some updates but overall a great vacation. Would def recommend Sandals.
We sincerely enjoyed our time at sandals royal barbados! Every moment was made so great by each member of the sandals team. My husband and I had the most relaxing and special vacation! We had amazing butlers Nadia, Jerome, and Kadeen! They celebrated not only our baby moon for our twin girls on the way, but also my husband’s birthday during our visit. Our room was decorated for both occasions and was such a special touch! The food was also so great (our favorites were Bombay, La Parisienne, Portofinos, Neptunes, and Butches steak and seafood! Also, Dinos Alfredo jerk chicken pizza is a must!) I have to add that in general, the staff across both sandals Barbados and royal barbados were always willing to jump in to answer any questions, or provide assistance and sometimes they would just come up and just spark a conversation and you’d learn something new about beautiful Barbados or their families which added so much to our experience. I also want to mention, we had a photo session on the beach and Dario took the most amazing photos for our pregnancy announcement - and I mean incredible photos! We cannot recommend him enough if you plan to take photos during your stay. To note, Dario nicknames himself the Chief since there are 3 Darios on resort! Lastly, we wanted to share a special note to one of our butlers, Nadia! We had Nadia for most of our stay and we can genuinely say she went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and taken care of during our stay and we truly enjoyed having her and highly recommend her if you’ll be staying in a butler level room.
Sandals Royal Barbados is a very beautiful resort. We stayed at the club level and upon arrival we were met by the concierge team who were exemplary. We’d booked a swim up room and it was immaculate. The water at the swim up was around 85° so it was amazing. Being there are 2 resorts together you have a plethora of dining options and for the most part the food is fantastic. We had a few issues, but after meeting with a member of the management team, they more than made up for any inconveniences. We love this island and resort, at some point we will return.
First I must say that we planned on going to Jamaica but the venue was damaged in the hurricane and, though they said it would be ready by June they decided about April that it would actually take until Christmas. They then informed six months worth of customers. The Americans could rearrange their holiday by phone but the brits had to do it over the internet. This meant that you got an offer, but when you said yes that offer was gone. Had we had a chance to look carefully we would have realised that the water sports were probably not ‘always included’ because it was the Atlantic. If you went down the beach at ten in the morning you could possibly get taken out for a sail but you were not allowed to sail yourself, or obviously kayak, sup etc because of the current. (Grenada is the same). Sandals is not a cheap holiday especially when you factor in the airfare so when you get there and find you have been misled at best, lied to at worst it spoils the holiday. The beach staff said it was always like that so don’t believe management when they suggest you were just unlucky. The two resorts run into one it is difficult to see where one starts and the other finishes. Our room was lovely and the kids loved the bowling alley and the eighties hour. The restaurants were fine. We all seemed to prefer the sushi, Indian and chi. Schooners was very nice and the French is a beautiful restaurant. We went to the butches a the other site after some confusion about the big table we had booked. The food was okay except the room was so cold that your meal was cold before you could finish it. I was looking forward to the doughnuts and they looked lovely but they crammed them into tiny bags so, by the time you got to the pool the toppings were more on the bag than the cake. The pool was nice and we obviously were there a lot with nothing else to do. Our daughter and her husband went to scuba and said the team were very good but I think they went to the same bay everyday. The dock was also off site so they had a bus journey. The rest of the family did the snorkel trip which was very nice but avoid Friday afternoon as the very full bus took over an hour to get back. The staff were friendly and we played cards in a very nice room near a bar. It was a nice resort it was just a pity about the water sports! Would I go back. Not to Barbados because of the watersports. A different one, well not sure I don’t believe the ‘always included’ any more.
Staying at a Sandals property is always well worth the money! Our third time at a Sandals property as Sandals club members. Sandals Royal Barbados is such a beautiful property with lots of restaurants that caters to everyone with any dietary restrictions - there’s lots to choose from! The beach is well maintained and the pools are just endless. The entire staff and vibe is exceptional - everyone we’ve encountered is SO friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our catamaran tour that we booked through Sandals - it was truly an amazing experience and the staff from Cool runnings 3 made the experience so much better! Highly recommend booking a catamaran tour with them! The red lane spa is so serene and one of the best massages we’ve had that we ended up booking twice! It’s so beautiful and a nice little pocket of serenity in the resort. The staff at the spa were exceptional! If you’re a sushi lover - you MUST try SOY (the sushi restaurant) - not only are the chefs (Noe & Gilbert) outstanding and super friendly and accommodating - the yellow tail hamachi was top notch! Sandals truly has it all and makes it feel like a vacation as soon as your step on the property so if you’re looking for the perfect resort then look no further!
My husband and I stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon and we were blown away by our experience! We stayed in one of the Rondoval Suites with the Butler Service and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. Moesha, Shamara, and Daquan were the best butlers in the entire resort and truly made our experience at Sandals one we will never forget! They were always checking on us to make sure we had what we needed, were very accommodating, and set up fun surprises in our room. The staff on our cruise were amazing as well and everyone at the resort was extremely friendly. The food on the resort was delicious and it was great to be able to try many different cuisines. We will definitely be back in the future!
Wonderful experience, first class, definitely worth a return visit. Staff very very helpful as we got lost a lot …🤣. Restaurants were well worth it, such an enjoyable experience. Thank youPara
You cannot beat the sun and breezes at Sandals Royal Barbados. There were so many pools to choose from, each with a different vibe. My favorite was the main Infinity pool, where the dj was excellent. But I also loved the European pool for its peace and quiet. We stayed in a swim up room. Having our own private oasis was so relaxing. The room came with butler service. Our three butlers were “Jake,” Shameka, and Abigail. They took amazing care of us. Whenever we returned to our room after our pool time, there was a bubble bath drawn in our giant soaking tub, and a variety of snacks from around the resort. They checked in on us often and surprised us every day with fun things and friendly service. It really made the trip extra special. I especially loved that they reserved great spots for us poolside every day and stocked a cooler with our favorite drinks. No waiting in line for food either; they handled everything. When you get here, do not skip the pork belly from Butch’s or the pork and sweet potato from the Jerk Shack. The drinks here are so fire! My favorites have been the Hummingbird, a fruity and creamy tropical delight and the BBC (Bailey’s, banana, and chocolate). This entire stay has been so invigorating. Don’t hesitate to book.
We had an amazing time!! Everbody was so friendly. The jerk shack, the food was amazing. And everybody that worked in the jerk shack wonderful people to meet. Zebby. Natasha. Marrice and everybody that was poolside in front of Butches Steakhouses. but overall, we had a great time.
Amazing! We could not have had a better time. From the incredible staff to the delicious food and unforgettable experience, everything was absolutely amazing. We can’t wait to come back!
Had an amazing time. Food was exceptional. Our butlers Jake, Shameka, and Abigail were fantastic and kind. Would absolutely recommend this resort (and our butlers!).
We had a wonderful stay at our four night stay at Royal Barbados! This was the first time we utilized the butler service and our team trio did not disappoint! Shae, Jabari and Shameica were nothing short of amazing! They made my husband’s birthday extra special and even came through with a request of the island’s culinary Roti, which was the highlight of our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in a relaxing haven with our couples massage - shout out to Crystal A and Monique for taking away years of stress for our bodies. The butler’s cruise was an added bonus - we enjoyed it very much! The butlers who accompanied us were fun and friendly. We went on one excursion which was the Rum and Culinary tour and cooking our own fly fish and rum sauce for our bread pudding was amazing! The only downside was that our excursion was over two hours before our shuttle picked us up so we added the cave tour which ended up being a great time as well! Thank you for a nice getaway Sandals Barbados! Until the next one.
Amazing experience in Barbados. The country and people are wonderful. The rooms and swim outs could use an upgrade
The resort was massive, clean, and has very beautiful gardens. The staff overall were not friendly. It felt like we were bothering them when we asked for service. Food was average and the breakfast options were not great. Portifinos, Chi, and Butchs were the best, Merry Monkey, Lovers Lane, and Sky bar were good hangouts. The entertainment was little to none and not very good. This is unlike Sandals. The beach had awful seaweed and smell from it. They remove the seaweed daily but let it stack up for days before clearing it so the smell is awful. The water was not clear and usually no one in the water. We did like all the available seats at the beach and cover from the trees. Overall disappointed but again unlike Sandals.
We had an amazing and excellent stay at sandals royal barbados! You should definitely request Butler team Kevan, Rachel, and Raffiella! Their attention to us and service made the trip truly relaxing, fun, and full! See Seth in the dive shop for SCUBA diving! Seth and the entire shop and team were amazing guides for us on our dives! The food and restaurants were also incredible! Definitely go to Bombay and Butch’s Steak House! La Parisienne, Neptune’s, Butch’s Chop House were also great dining! Red Lane Spa pampered my wife extremely well! Ask for Jodi at the spa!
They surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade when we arrived and everything was wonderful! The food, staff, and entertainment were all great! The only complaint we had was the beach was full of seaweed and not the beautiful blue waters we expected, but we understand that’s not the norm.
We thoroughly enjoyed the resort property, the layout was easy to move from one amenity to another. The restaurants offered a wide variety of excellent food and drink choices. The staff were absolutely amazing and extremely friendly and helpful. Eugene at the bar by Soy is an absolute treasure! Heidi at the main pool at the Sandals Royal by the Jerk Shack and Lovers Lane is the best social director, and bartender keeping everyone refreshed engaged and entertained! We had a wonderful vacation and already booked another trip.
Shaneeza is the best. we would recommend any service with her. Our service with her was incredible. She was relatable, down to earth and compassionate.
Still here enjoying the Sun and accommodation and facilities, but I would like to shout at about these 2 amazing ladies from the coffee and donut shop, such happy friendly ladies, always welcoming and know what we want the minute we walk through the door. Hospitality and customer service spot on please recognise these lovely ladies for the work they do for sandals x Azissa &Mericia ❤️
It is not the nice side of the beach in Barbados so don’t expect that wonderful blue water. Rooms were dated and did lack something in cleanliness. We rented a cabana by the pool which saved the trip but we pay $1400 for 6 days additional. We could hear dogs barking everyday at 5:30 am from our room. The food was not very good and a huge disappointment. The staff was for the most part friendly and helpful. Our concierge at the pool cabana was excellent and definitely made the trip ok. We will not being back.
We have been fortunate over the years to stay at some wonderful hotels, including the Ritz-Carlton in Hawaii and the Four Seasons. Both were outstanding, as you would expect. I say this carefully and I mean it: the service at Sandals Royal Barbados was the best we have ever experienced, anywhere. The difference was the people, and I want to name them. The care started months before we arrived. I emailed with questions about our stay and Bruno Couesnon, the General Manager, replied personally. Room allocations, roll-away beds, even golf rates for the Barbados Golf Club, all handled directly and with his management team copied in so everyone knew our family was coming. That personal touch from the very top set the tone for everything that followed. We arrived on 5 July, a party of six across three South Seas Hideaway suites, celebrating our daughter qualifying as a doctor and our son’s birthday. Now to Holger Glaser, the Hotel Manager, who deserves the biggest thank you of all. He met us personally at check-in and from that moment he was invested in us as a family. He sought us out around the resort all week, never intrusive, always genuine, just to check we were happy and to ask what more he could do. Every email was answered quickly, kindly and with a solution already in hand. Our early arrival was covered before we asked, luggage stored and rooms prioritised. When I emailed him late at night about our final day, he replied first thing with late check-outs on all three rooms and our transfer sorted, along with a good luck message for the England game. He is a true gentleman and a class act, and hospitality of his standard is rare anywhere in the world. It was an honour to meet him. Ramchandra Basnet, the Director of Food and Beverage, also deserves a special mention. He personally booked our dinners for every night of the stay across both resorts, then checked in on us throughout the week. When I mentioned at Butch’s Steak and Seafood that I do not eat fish, onion rings appeared as an appetiser without any fuss. When the boys wanted to watch the World Cup in their room, he arranged sushi, tandoori prawns from Bombay Club and mozzarella sticks for six, delivered to the suite. With twenty one restaurants and fourteen bars to run, he still found time to sort snacks for a football match. We were so touched. And then they went one better. At Portofino’s, the Italian restaurant, the team surprised us with a special celebration meal, complete with cake and champagne, arranged by the manager, Jenna. We never asked. They knew we were celebrating and quietly made a moment of magic happen. And it was not a one-off. At every restaurant, every night, the manager came to our table, checked on us and did everything possible to make the meal perfect. Greenhouse and Bombay Club were standout meals in their own right, but the personal care is what we will remember. The bars were a joy too. Amber and Chadwick are two of the finest bartenders we have ever come across, brilliant drinks, lovely people, and they remembered our names and orders from day one. Amelia in housekeeping looked after our beautiful suites with such pride every single day. The team even upgraded our rooms and installed curtains after a passing comment. Who does that mid-stay? You are never a room number here. The whole team learn your names, your preferences and your plans, then quietly get ahead of all of them. This is genuine care, not scripted hospitality, and you feel the difference within an hour of arriving. We came for a very special family holiday and we leave as Sandals converts, already planning the next one. Amber, Chadwick, Amelia, Basnet, Jenna, Bruno, and above all Holger, thank you from all six of us. The finest hotels in the world could learn from what you do here.
We had the BEST time celebrating our honeymoon here! Everyone was so nice and we felt like we were royalty! 100/10 recommend!!
Great experience at the sandals resort. We had at amazing time. Loved the Butler Service. Next trip already scheduled!
Shernelle - Red Lane Spa - and Shontelle Concierge desk - were both so very responsive to our needs and requests and went above and beyond to make this trip extra special. We wanted to let Sandals management know about these two wonderful representatives that elevated the Sandals name to new heights!!!! See you next year!
The location was excellent—just a short distance from Bridgetown, making it convenient to explore the island. The atmosphere was beautiful, with quick tropical showers that would give way to sunshine within minutes, adding to the charm of the experience. The rooms were comfortable and well-maintained. Most of the staff were warm, friendly, and eager to assist. There were plenty of dining options, and the food was consistently good with a nice variety to choose from. A special thank you to our butlers, Kareem, Rashida, and Shana. They were exceptional and truly made our stay memorable. They anticipated our needs, went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, and provided outstanding service throughout our visit. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality were greatly appreciated.
This was the best vacation! A beautiful resort, full of amenities and luxuries that made the trip unforgettable. Our swim up room made lazy afternoons private and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed the scuba diving excursions every morning. Our guides went above and beyond to make sure we had an exciting and safe experience diving. The food and restaurants were very good. Our favorite was Chi for the appetizers and nonstop coffee and treats from the cafe. This was my first Sandals Resort trip and I cannot wait to visit more of their locations.
Good morning, I just want to say thank you to Akio, Petrona and Monique. They were the butlers who took care of us during our stay here at sandals. They make up an excellent group of butlers who work together to make certain that the guest that they are responsible for catering to are well taken care of. They were very instrumental and making us stay more pleasurable. We were here for a total of seven days the first four days we were thought of Butler and the last three days we were with the Butler and we did notice the difference and how much easier the three remaining days went with Butler service. We will be returning to Barbados and we will be requesting them . Thanks! Phillipe and Lisa Mathis
At first glance on arrival we were a bit disappointed by how tired our room was (3308) but it was super clean and the bed was so comfortable. It was also a really great and quiet location (bar the 4.30 cockerel). And given how little time we spent in the room it almost doesn’t seem worth mentioning. Cannot fault the resort and we had an amazing time experiencing the huge variety of delicious restaurant options. Grounds were beautiful and exquisitely maintained. Plentiful supply of towels and there was always a sun bed to be found at one of the many pools, including the busier infinity pool which offered great entertainment and banging tunes with the view of the sea. Special shout out to Dale, the piano man extraorinaire who created the most fun atmosphere at the piano bar every night from 10-midnight, along with guest appearances from staff. Jack from Butch’s Steak and Seafood’s ‘Walking in Memphis’ was always a crowd favourite! Highly, highly recommend Sandals Barbados and would treat negative reviews with caution as everyone we spoke to were also having a fantastic time. Thank you to all the staff and management!
First time visit to a Sandal's resort and it did not disappoint. There is a great selection of bars & restaurants, to experience. Watching the World Cup, in the Merry Monkey Pub, was a particular highlight, thanks to the hard work of Bar Manager Jack and his bar crew, where the service was on point!!! (Jessie one of the bar tenders was exceptional, with his customer service - Superb), despite the Scotland performances & results - LoL!!! Our favourite Restaurant was Butch's Chop House where the T-Bone Steak was hard to beat. The Butter Chicken Curry at the Bombay Club, was a close 2nd. There is a wide selection of places to 'graze' for lunch. Dino's Pizza is great to Takeaway and enjoy on the beachfront, whilst then Grilled Sandwiches, from the Heart & Sol and perfect when lounging around the pool (with a Deputy Cold Beer). The resort had everything we needed to relax & unwind - Loved it. 5 Stars from us.
Had such a great honeymoon here with my wife! Let me just start out with how nice the staff were. Everyone had their own personalities and weren’t afraid to show it and really went out of their way to ask how we were doing not just when serving food but even just while walking around. There was also so much stuff to do that we always kept busy. The food here is also amazing and there’s so many options to choose from! Our room was housekept very good every single day and the only issue I’d say is that the tub we had on our balcony didn’t always have hot water so we could only use it like twice and also the shower took a few minutes to heat up. Besides that everything was perfect and I loved every part of it. I 100% would love to come back here I really felt comfortable and enjoyed it all! They really go out of their way to make sure of that and you can see that in everything even the smaller details. Also Bridget over at Butch’s was so nice and a great server I really appreciate her service. 10/10 recommend!
We had an amazing stay at the Sandals Barbados, location in Oistins, Barbados. The rooms were a lean neat and room service was excellent. One of the highlights was definitely the restaurants. Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. There was a great variety of options, so we always found something we loved. The music was wonderful and just enough not too much noise. The staff in each restaurant were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the service was consistently excellent. The dining experience alone is a great reason to come back, Value highly and recommend this hotel to anyone looking for outstanding food and hospitality.
Our stay at Sandals Barbados reminded us why Sandals is known for exceptional hospitality. Although our first night did not go as planned, the way the team responded completely transformed our vacation into an unforgettable experience. A special thank you to Silviu for his outstanding leadership, professionalism, and genuine care, which set the tone for the rest of our stay. We are also incredibly grateful to our butlers, Shae, Shameica, and Jabari, who made our very first butler experience absolutely incredible. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, checked on us throughout our stay, anticipated our needs, and made us feel genuinely cared for every day. Because of their exceptional service, we will continue booking Butler Elite accommodations for future Sandals vacations. In fact, we were so impressed by the entire team that we booked our next Sandals vacation while we were still at the resort. It is rare to see a team turn a difficult start into such a flawless five-star experience, and we cannot thank them enough for making our vacation one we will never forget.
Overall the location is good and the facilities acceptable. However once you get over the initial welcome it’s all down hill. When paying for an exceptional experience I would expect a good experience not something that is mediocre. Having upgraded to Butler elite I wanted to be treated as the VIP the blurb stated. Whilst the butlers were good the rest was pretty piss poor. Significant attitude from servers and housekeeping was dire. Has to request coffee and milk top ups daily. Having left the room at 9am and returned at 3pm I had to request the room to be made up. When it finally happened I was informed that there had been 3 arrivals they had to deal with. I’m sorry but that is not my problem. The room smelled damp and a dehumidifier turned up on day 4. Very noisy and impossible to sleep with so was turned off at night. The World Cup was on and fortunately the England game was broadcast. But they didn’t open the bar at Lanes nor were there extra servers at the pool bar. After waiting over 15 minutes to be served by the single server, I gave up. The restaurants were ok but you got what they had. Always look for a buffet meal. That way you can guarantee you get what you wish to eat. I accept there is no control over the weather but I tried one day on the beach but was sand blasted to the point I thought my skin might fall off. So I left. The “Resort Shop” is massively overpriced for the captive audience and should be avoided. Did I get a tan? Yes along with wind burn Did I eat well? Yes when I had buffet food Was it worth the money ? Definitely NOT The equivalent of $10000 for 9 nights to feel like another tourist is just not worth it. Would I come here again? NO. Just not the dream I was sold and would never come back to Sandals Royal Barbados again.
We recently went to Sandals Royal (and our kids stayed in Sandals Barbados). Although there was too much seaweed everywhere on the beach and in the water, we still had a marvelous time. Since we went to relax and rest on the beach that is what we did... not sure I have ever seen what looked like dark brown water in the waves but that is for sure beyond anyone's control... We did have to wait awhile outside the airport for transportation ... and where our luggage was put into a small truck and we were transported by bus to the resort...it was a short ride and the bus driver did his best to take "shortcuts" when the normal route was at a standstill. Would suggest bringing a small bag with clothes/resort gear to change into as our luggage took over an hour to get to us once we were in our room... We found many helpful folk: Junior (water sports)and Rashid both cheerfully gave us directions as I tended to get somewhat turned around..and greeted me whenever our paths crossed. Erik from the dive shop also walked me to the coffee shop and gave wonderful information about the resort...Must say that in the Dive shop (I am not a diver) Seth, Phillip, Tori and Richard all were very kind to my kids and actually to me as well. Truly enjoyed my pedicure...wow it was so relaxing and enjoyable. Both Sasha and Shellana provided a fun, professional and superb experience for my daughter and myself. Highly recommend them both. As far as restaurants: We had great dinners at Butch's chophouse provided by Mikaela ...ate there twice...so delicious...also enjoyed Steak and Seafood as Kimberly was smiley, kind and efficient...but prefer the chophouse... Raheem in Bombay provided excellent service as well...and we had fun trying different foods... Tia in Chi was both cheerful and efficient...easy to eat quickly in this restaurant... Azssa and Mericia in Salty Dog remembered our coffee preferences each morning and cheerfully made them without our asking...made it so personalized... And on our last day, there was no Rum Raisin ice cream...our favorite...Lisa in Cafe Paris noticed our sad faces and she asked...then brought some out for us from the back room...WOW...that was so special... I did opt to run down Rohan and get a garden tour, which is very informative... if you choose to Bowl...and there is a wait..make sure you get on the wait list...as that is actually very fun...I also did the jewelry classes and pottery painting classes...was fun to have special memories to bring home...and found the creative outlet quite relaxing as well. We did splurge on a Butler room...and appreciated help with dinner reservations, coconut shrimp snacks and general information...
Beautiful location . Hotel is set in geogous tropical gardens. Food is great and varied across all restaurants. Rooms are well appointed and clean. Facilities are great. Always found a good spot by the pool. We loved the piano bar and Dale.
Room had a significant damp issue and smelled musty permanently despite a dehumidifier running. Disjointed service at reception / concierge. Delivered luggage to the wrong room on arrival. Internet initially not working and no staff communication on how to resolve. Simple tasks like restaurant bookings / reprogramming a door card for room extension took forever.
We have been to many Sandals and though each is beautiful, it is the staff that creates the true experience. I cannot recommend this location enough. Every staff member took their time to acknowledge us and make sure we were enjoying our time. Every meal was amazing. They created an environment that encouraged everyone to make friends and create memories. I truly enjoyed our time and sad to go home. The beach did have the seaweed and it was less than desirable. They created an opportunity to go to a local place in Carlisle Beach as an alternative, free of charge and included vouchers. They really did go above and beyond!!!!
Went for our honeymoon. Butlers were great, especially Rashida. Lots of amenities, great food options. Restaurants were a little slow but the food was good. Our photographer took amazing pics, just be ready to shell out $$$ for the photographs. I recommend.
Our butler's Monique, Petrona and Akio were amazing! Beautiful experience!
Staff was very friendly. Food was amazing. We would love to come back! Our room was always clean and bed was always fixed. Short drive from the airport!
My husband and I went for our anniversary the staff was very helpful Our room was clean. The pools could be cleaner, but we enjoyed them. The only complaint is people putting towels on the chairs very early so ifyou get a chair, you’re very lucky we would rather be in the Caribbean that is on the west side where Royal Barbados is located is on the south we saw a lot of seaweed and it smelled very nasty so the picture is deceiving The staff did arrange for a ride to the boatyard on the west side for four hours you can either go at 10 o’clock or 12 o’clock the one thing I would advise when you go do that. Do not give the boat yard-your credit card. The hotel gives you $20 each to spendthere. My husband gave them his credit card because they asked for it. They charged us an extra $80 they did reimburse us, but it took a couple days of us going to the front desk. we did a boat snorkeling excursion. It was very fun. We did the excursion about the best of Barbados it was fun.We had a wonderful time. They are going to build a beaches Sandals property on the west side, which will be where the pretty water is.!
The sandals resort was top notch, our butlers jenilka, Shanika, and reanna was on top of it all and did all we asked. Would definitely come back
Loved Sandals Royal Barbados. This trip was kind of a spur or the moment decision and really did not know what to expect. We have been to most Sandals resorts and this resort had some of the finest qualities that we had hoped for and learned to expect from a Sandals resort. Excellence started with the employees from the top down. Finding out that Sandals Barbados and Royal Barbados are next to each other and you can cross back and forth many times during the day and not knowing it. On numerous occasions I would be lost looking for the best route to somewhere and there was always an employee that would ask to help. Shaquan who is one of the cooks is one of those employees and he went way out of his way to walk me to my destination. He was a great person just wanting to make our trip the best possible and he is not alone as this happened a number of times. Food is fantastic. Butch's lives up to what you expect from that franchise but a real surprise was the French restaurant that resides on top of the largest building. The food at French restaurant is great and Brian our waiter made the evening and the view made it so special. The Italian and sushi restaurants are some of the best we have ever had. "Hotel" facilities are great and in most cases seem very new. The property is maintained meticulously and we ran into the "Resort Manager" a number of times walking the grounds and he was always friendly and concerned with our experience. There are a number of pools and you can choose from those that are quiet or festive. Employees are constantly cleaning the pool facilities and are friendly. The beach is deep and has ample chairs for everyone on the resort so there is no "chair hoarding" on the beach. The spa is beautiful and had a massage with Crystal A and it was so good that I had to have a second massage from her before our trip ended. There are two gyms so it is easy to work out when you want to. Other benefits of this resort is the wildlife including monkeys and an occasional chicken with its babies. The only thing that was disappointing is the water aerobics class. It was obvious that the instructor did not want to be there. Seems like he is hoping there is no interest so he does not have to hold the class. He does not announce the class on the microphone and initially says he cannot hold the class with only one person then when another and another showed up he would increase the number required to hold the class to more than two and so forth. Once there were five he pretty much had to do the class but the exercises done were sad and mostly swinging arms above the water. Snorkeling is an adventure. Unlike a lot of Sandals, your boat is not coming off of the beach. You board a 20 minute bus ride to the marina (where Sandals has a retail and dive shop) and from there you take your boat out. You will see some nice shipwrecks with lots of fish as well as an occasional sea turtle sighting. Another advantage for this resort is that it is relatively close to the airport so your drive is roughly half an hour or so, mainly due to traffic. Baggage collection and boarding the bus at the airport is very efficient. We had a great time and appreciated all of the hard work done by Sandals personnel to make this resort as beautiful as it is.
We would have given 5 stars if the beach wasn’t covered with seaweed. We had to take a bus to an outside beach, very disappointing when you come to a Caribbean island especially for the beach. We did have a butler (Donald) he made our stay amazing and was always attentive and on top of everything!
This was our 4th trip with sandals, First time at Barbados and with butlers the experience was beyond what we expected. Tre, Shaq, and Nakeisha. They were wonderful. Pre-arrival we requested Grey Goose Liquor if available, and we were so surprised to find in our room the day or arrival. They took care of us the whole week. From reserving the perfect spot at the pool to daily lunch at our pool chair. Even made dinner reservations for 6 people (our daughter was not butler level, but they included them in dinner reservations which was amazing of them).
The resort is such a nice relaxing time with a vibrant and exciting events always available. Our room was always well kept and clean and the perfect distance from all the action. Our butlers Benard, D'Angelo and Shannakay were always so attentive and insuring that our experience was the best you come to expect from a Sandals Resort. We highly recommend headed out to the Boatyard for beautiful turquoise waters with jets skis and rope swings. P.S. we got to see a family of monkeys in the morning by the Infinity Pool!
First of all, this is our 4th visit to a Sandals resort. First time in Barbados & this trip was outstanding. First time for us also having Butler service. We had Crystal S, Tony & Tremayne. They were all amazing and actually made us feel so welcoming. They were all different in their ways. However, I can still hear Tremayne shout Butler now. They were all positive, and all did so much for us. It was greatly appreciated. They definitely went above & beyond to make our stay so amazing. I have to say our experience at Sandals Royal Barbados was great. We really did have the best of times making some great memories. We eat at all the restaurants. However, our favourite restaurants were Butche's Chophouse, the French restaurant & the Italian. The food was actually good in all of the restaurants & never did we have one bad meal. We had great service in all the restaurants & bars also. We spent most of our time around the infinity pool, just people watching, drinking & eating. We generally had an amazing time. And we can't wait to visit another Sandals Resort. We also did two trips out with Captain Larry. If you get the chance, go and see him at the front of the beach & book an island tour. You won't be disappointed. The only thing I would like to see is a bit more entertainment around the pool. Also, maybe clean the chairs around by the main stage as it looked a bit messy with all the leaves on the chairs and also a lot of bird mess on them that you could tell had been built up from over some time. Also, maybe clean the glass screens around the pool and in the sky bar. All of the staff worked extremely hard, and the hotel grounds were kept beautiful. Thank you for a fabulous stay.
We enjoyed our time here at Sandals Royal Barbados. The food, the people, the atmosphere - everything was wonderful! Everyone went above and beyond for us. Marisa was especially amazing!
We had a great time. We got much needed R&R. The staff was awesome. Marisa was great from the beginning and she followed up with us there our visit. The food was amazing. We ate at several of the restaurants. Jack was friendly at the Merry Monkey. We went to Butch and Shanique was awesome. Overall we had a great time.
Wanted to drop a huge thank you to Okello Morris for making our trip to Sandals Royal Barbados just a fun experience . He made sure our time at the pool and bar was fun and relaxing . Never had an empty cup . He even made me make my wife her “ Morris “ special drink and everyone at the pool wanted one ! Ha! I wish him the best as he heads back to Jamaica Sandals . See you soon Freind !
We just returned from a magical week at this resort. The staff was incredibly friendly. Shout out to our butler team; Shannakay, Bernard, and Deangelo. This team was top notch. Not only did they anticipate our needs but asked several times a day what they could do to make our day special. Escorting us to dinner every night made us feel like a priority. Make sure to request the lobster kabobs while poolside. You have to request 24 hours in advance but worth the wait. Don’t miss the silent disco and don’t skip Bombay and the lamb chops. We will be back and look forward to another Sandals on 2028!!
Had the best experience and delicious food at Butchs chop house. Our waitress Teleah was the best. We had the best drinks. All the staff was amazing and the management was the great. By far our favorite meal at Sandals.
Butchs chop house was the best dinner on resort ! The staff was so kind and amazing ! Our favorite by far ! teliah was best server ! Janelle made sure we loved everything . Dont miss out on this restaurant
Appetizers were amazing! Service was good, staff was attentive. Shian was my server. Good food and drinks.
Family dinner @ Butch’s Chophouse was delicious. Shian was very attentive and accommodating. She was covering several tables and kept things moving smoothly for everyone. She was vey friendly and answered questions about the menu with ease. It was a great experience
Shanique our server was fantastic in Butch’s chophouse, she was our server. Food was outstanding, as was the service.
This place is racist if you’re Caucasian, Mexican or anything outside of African-American/black. Don’t come here if you want to be treated with respect, I honestly am over sandals as the rooms are dumpy nobody fixed anything and I paid for a Butler room and they never once commented or text me or help me with anything. I will be continuing to travel in Jamaica and Barbados, but it will not be at Sandals as it’s gone downhill and everything is gross. Stay at real excellence. Is there in Jamaica and they treat people with respect no matter what color you were born with as this is ridiculous and it’s 2026. We should not be dealing with racial BS!!!! Bye sandals
Gorgeous resort and wonderful staff! This is our fourth Sandals resort adventure and it both lived up to and exceeded our expectations. Our Butler Team, Monique, Petrona, & Akio, were wonderful, attentive to our needs and wishes without being “too” present during our stay. The resort staff across the board is super friendly and always helpful. The property is beautifully appreciated and the restaurants were also amazing as were the other on site daily activities. Highly recommend!!!
As always Sandals is a gorgeous resort with amazing rooms. Highly recommend the butler service they are always attentive. Our Butlers Monique, Petrona and Akio were great and quick up our dinner times and places on a whim, book our excursions and deliver lunch poolside.
We were there for a week in a rondoval. The room was ok but we did have issues and they moved us halfway through our trip which was nice of them to do. Our butler Shontelle, Shaq and Maya were good. Shontelle was the best out of all three. She went above and beyond. Highly recommend. We didn't have to much interaction with Shaq but I dont have any complaints about him. Maya wasn't the greatest in the beginning but mid trip she became more attentive and seemed to step up more. Best restaurant was butchs in the sandals side. They had the best steak and lobster at both resorts. French was ok but not the greatest. Neptune was decent but lobster was over done. Soy was also incredible but I've never had a bad meal there. Breakfast we always had delivered to our room. Neptune Greek salad was my go to for lunch with chicken. The donut shop was a nice addition to the resort. Entertainment wasn't the greatest as compared to some of the Jamaican resorts like south coast or even beaches negril. We saw one show at night which was a band and singer. There was always a bunch of people at the piano bar but that just isn't our thing. There were people in the pub after 10pm here as compared to other sandals. The chairs at the pool were always an issue even if you have butlers. At this resort the butlers aren't allowed on the resort till 6:45. At 7 am the chairs are cleared of all items and its basically a free for all as to who gets chairs so even if you have a butler you may not be able to get the spot you want at the pool. After 24 visits to various sandals and beaches I dont think we'll be rushing back here soon. Jamaica still seems to have the friendliest staff and service with antigua following. This resort had a different crowd than other sandals. It felt like a step up from sandals ochi.
There are some wonderful bartenders here: especially Zebe at the swim up pool bar, also Tashon at the piano bar. Maid service is impeccable! Most of the female bartenders at the swim up bar are not friendly and barely smile. We had a “ocean view” which was just a sliver and only if you stand in the very corner of the patio, we were on 4th floor in Whahoo building, very disappointed in the view… especially since I booked 2 years ago and asked 3 times for a “nice” ocean view, this is a PARTIAL ocean view at best, so beware this is a possibility Beach is covered in seaweed, not possible to get in the water and the island always severely windy!!
We stayed at Sandals Royal Barbados May 16-22. When we arrived, our room wasn't quite ready yet, so we were able to grab some lunch and then we returned to the butler lounge to wait. This being our third Sandals trip, I am noticing there is usually a wait for the room to be available, and very little communication is given to you regarding how long you might have to wait. We were taken to our room by one of our Butlers, Annaleah. The Rondoval suite with private pool was absolutely stunning! As for our butler team, Annaleah, Krystle and Kemar, they were all great but there is something very special about Kemar! He is an AMAZING young man who went above and beyond for us every day. His kind spirit was so comforting and much appreciated. Other staff that stood out to us: Dwight at the swim up pool as well as Shakera who was always cheerful and smiling and Morris who made us some great drinks! Adeline our room attendant kept our room spotless every day. I would also like to give a shout out to John Patrick, the resort manager. I saw John Patrick throughout the week, but I had an opportunity to chat with him when he saw I was bummed out about not spotting any of the monkeys on the property. He walked me to a specific area and I saw several monkeys! they were so cute and it was a highlight of the trip for me. We then ran into him enjoying his dinner at Butch's and he acknowledged us there as well. I have few complaints about the resort. We couldn't really enjoy the beach as it was very choppy, but it didn't matter because we are mainly pool people. We enjoyed the swim up and infinity pools as well as our private pool. We found the food to be good, the staff to be kind and helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful time. The only reason we wouldn't consider coming back is because there are other Sandal's resorts for us to explore.
This was our 5th time at a Sandals resort and our first time in Barbados and it did not disappoint! The main highlights were the food, service, and elevated Butler experiences. The Food: This resort has so many restaurant options that it's hard to get to all of them and all of the ones we went to were great! Bombay, Soy and Schooners were our favorite. The sushi at Soy is always great with tons of quality options. The seafood at Schooners was phenomenal, especially the lobster tail. Bombay was so good that we went back twice. The pork ribs, butter chicken, naan, and specialty drink were amazing! Of course all of the bartenders were wonderful and created tasty drinks for my wife and I to enjoy. The Service: The service at Sandals is what we come back for, because we know they will take care of everything and truly keep the guests in mind at all times. One of the grounds crew members, Shane, even got a fresh coconut and opened it for us so that we could enjoy some fresh coconut water. Our Waiter at Bombay catered to all of our needs, and even though we had butlers there were always team members around the pool keeping us hydrated from the bar. We also had a great Himalayan salt stone massage with Akeela and Dion. Such a relaxing experience. Elevated Butler Experience: We have always had butlers when we go to Sandals, but this experience was different. First, Benita, Shaakira, and Donald were amazing! They were always surprising us with a new fun drink/snack in our room, or creating a romantic experience when we came back to our rooms by running a bath with rose petals. They all did such a great job! Second, we had VIP arrival, which came with the room category. Someone met us as we got off the plane and fast tracked us through customs and immigration and waited with us until we got our checked luggage. She then guided us to our private transfer to the resort in a Rolls Royce so the entire experience from getting off the plane felt easy, fancy, and like we were already on vacation. Third, there was a butlers cruise that was included because we had a butler. We got to go out with other butler guests and some butlers on the scuba boat and ride up and back the coast with drinks. We even stopped mid way through to jump in the water. The vibes were so fun and it was our first full day there so it started off our trip on the right foot! Fourth, there was a butlers cocktail hour with other butler guests and butlers with games, prizes, light snacks, and drinks. All of these experience were wonderful, but the butler cruise, VIP arrival, and private transfer were unique to this resort and really made our trip memorable. The Entertainment: There was always nightly entertainment, which included a reggae show with superb singers, and Caribbean night with great dancers, and the highlight being the white night with a silent disco. We love a good silent disco and there were fun drinks always being served each night. Overall: This resort is one of our favorite Sandals because of everything above. We would go back in a heart beat. The only downside was that because we went near the start of Hurricane season it was a bit windy on the beach and the sargasm seaweed was heavy on the beach most days so our days on the beach were minimal. The resort has no control over this and to be honest it didn’t impact our stay because there are so many pools and other places to relax that we didn’t miss the beach. All Sandals are always super clean and this was no exception. We had a great time and can't wait to go back!
Excellent housekeeping service/beverage cart gave us extra waters because we don’t drink soda pop/alcohol in room. Building 10202 perfectly peaceful room for relaxing, reading, sleeping. Cleanliness is unsurpassable throughout resort. Some restrooms could be improved. Serve staff in Portofinos, Schooners, Greenhouse, Parisienne exceptionally warm and friendly. Worst was Butche’s Steakhouse (Royal side). Would not eat there again!! Our server was worst we ever had in all our travels incl back home. Pricing overall is fair, LOVED THE PIANO MAN!! But getting expensive now that we don’t eat or drink as much at our age (73). Very lovely atmosphere on resort grounds. Very disappointed with beach being rough, dark waters/sargassum. Overall loved our room and resort amenities.
We had a fantastic wedding, birthday & honeymoon at Sandels. The food was amazing, the butler service faultless & the wedding planners were thorough with great attention to detail. All the staff were upbeat and so friendly
My husband and I wanted to spend our 50th wedding anniversary at an ocean front resort. Our travel agent suggested we try one of the beautiful Sandals Resorts. We chose the Sandals Royal Barbados beach front suite with butler and VIP service. The suite and ocean view were beautiful. Our butler team (D’Angelo, Shannakay, and Bernard) made our anniversary celebration extra special by helping us with dinner seating, pool/beach chairs, snacks, drinks and lunch served at the pool and beach. They gave us a phone to call them whenever we needed them! The butlers are truly elite and really do pamper you! We would definitely recommend paying more for rooms with butler service and VIP airport transfers. Housekeeping did a great job and came every morning around the same time. They were always very pleasant. The food was good. We had our favorite meals (lobster and/or steak) almost every night for supper. Our butlers escorted us to dinner and always got us good seating at our favorite seafood restaurants. The beach and ocean were full of seaweed which was disappointing, but we wanted to spend our anniversary celebration in May/June close to our anniversary date. Overall, we had a wonderful time with many pictures and memories as we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the beautiful Sandals Royal Barbados resort. Thank you!
The resort was beautiful. Rooms were very spacious. We had the butler service, our butlers Jake, Abigail & Shamika were awesome. Highly recommend the sunset catamaran tour through Sandals. We also highly recommend a private island tour with Sanjay Kini. The only negative was the seaweed on the beach, but that’s mother natures fault.
Fantastic. 100% recommend. Friendly staff and great accommodations.
Booked a 7 day stay at Sandals Royal Barbados with BA Holidays. We had previously visited Sandals in St Lucia and sandwiched between IKOS in Greece. BA arrangements excellent, flights on time, excellent crews on both flights, luggage safely handled. Grantley Adams Airport in Bridgetown is fairly shambolic and geared to get you to pay for the VIP service on arrival, very long queues at immigration for those who don’t purchase it (1.5hrs) Sandals collect you at airport with coach unless you book Butler rooms where you get car. Check in process at Sandals is very good and quickly executed and we were soon in our swim up suite in the Starfish building. Room spotlessly clean well laid out, good a/c and plenty of power points. Only complaint would be the cheap plastic garden chairs on patio which were very uncomfortable to sit for long. All pools are well maintained although people we talked with complained it was very difficult to get sun-beds at main pools because of reservation by butler level guests. Sandals advertise all inclusive including premium spirits, so as in St Lucia we asked for a bottle of Tia Maria for the room (which is available at all bars on site) and were a little surprised to be asked to pay up front as it had been delivered free in St Lucia, equally surprised on first restaurant visit to be presented with chargeable wine list, not for high quality vintage wines but £7 supermarket wines 30USD also be careful of Sandals handling of the credit card you have to give details for, during the stay had to visit concierge 3 times to query charges which had appeared on my statement as pending charges which I could not identify. To be fair none of these were actually taken and dropped off statement after checkout but slightly disconcerting. Sandals Royal and Sandals Barbados are essentially one resort which gives lots of options for food and activities the resort is truly beautiful and very well maintained, food quality was very good in fact much better than St Lucia, and a special shout out for the La Parisene restaurant whose food was superb. Breakfast in the American Tavern buffet was good if a little restrictive on choice, keep in mind the majority of guests are from the USA and offerings are mostly directed towards this market understandably. We took two excursions with Sandals firstly a Catamaran cruise which included snorkelling stops and meal with a sunset ending. This crew from a company called Cooling Runnings were absolutely excellent and made this day the most outstanding of the break cannot compliment them higher and the food they produced onboard was delicious. We also undertook the rum tour with an excellent driver Charlie and had a very enjoyable day. In summary Sandals Royal Barbados is an excellent resort with good facilities and accommodation, we only had two areas of concern, firstly the entertainment which has an excellent location is not very good and only occasionally used , secondly and our major issue was the attitude of some of the staff, the majority are friendly, welcoming and happy to help but a significant minority are indifferent and sometimes down right rude, in particular your evening could be made or broken by the bartenders some of whom are a credit but some others a liability, one example and not the only one stated at 2145hrs the bar is closed I have to do an inventory !! go somewhere else. In St Lucia the staff were much more accommodating mostly with fewer rogue elements however IKOS all staff were wonderfully trained and could not be more attentive. This would be the major difference. Hope this is an honest and helpful assessment for those checking reviews
We had the best time at sandals royal barbados. We were a family group of 3 sisters and our husbands. Our rooms were 7111,7112,and 7113,after we all received upgraded swim up rooms which was an absolute brilliant surprise. We found all staff at the resort really friendly and especially Chevrine at the beach, who made us all the best cocktails, to die for,and fresh fruit, and one day beautiful cakes,as we mentioned which cakes we all liked the best, she was outstanding every day. All the restaurants were beautiful and the grounds were stunning We are all sorry to leave, but the memories are always ours. Thank you all for fabulous memories
Great time. Hospitality was great. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. The grounds were very quiet and private. Food was very good
Kerry was amazing. One of the best servers in our sandals experience. She listened so well, addressed every request cheerfully, and was a joy. The main dishes here were amazing. Cassiopeia was the bartender and took a complicated order perfectly. Thank you everyone!
We went to Sandals Barbados with our closest friends (group of 20+)! We would like to give special thanks to our outstanding Butlers who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable: Raphael, Rashida, Rachel (just ask for the 3 R’s)! We also previously stayed in September 2025 and also had amazing butlers (Tre/ Shaw/Nekesha) The Whitmore’s
We lived our stay in Barbados!! The room, service, food, and entertainment were all top notch. I highly recommend the butler service- Patrona, Akaio and Monique were the BEST. Thanks for making our vacation so special!!
While at Sandals Royal Barbados I met MORRIS at the swimup bar He went above and beyond to learn my speciality drink ( LA Burning) we had to adapt because they didn’t have all the ingredients. After making a couple of times, he had no problem the rest of the time. He also secured lunch to be delivered to us that was not the regular protocol for the pool area. Everyone should seek out Morris an be taken care of by him. I’ll be sure to take care of him!!!
We stayed for 5 days in this amazing resort. We had the rondoval room and loved it. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our butlers Donald, Benita and Shaakira were incredible and helped us make the best of the resort with beach chair reservations, restaurant reservations and making us great drinks while chilling by the pool and insuring we had everything in our room or while out with our friends. Having two resorts connect was interesting and picking where to go fun. We’d definitely recommend going!!
We visited Sandals for our Honeymoon for 5 nights on the Royal side. We stayed in Rondoval 3 which had plenty of privacy with no rooms overlooking into the patio & private pool. We had a fantastic butler team of Annaleah, Kemar and Krystle. They worked wonderfully together to coordinate everything we asked for and never missed a beat. They set up various in room dining as well as great chairs by the pool. We had great tables at all of our restaurants as well. They also helped us coordinate a trip with a taxi that let us see the beauty of the island. I would highly recommend to request these 3 as your butler team. We were always greeted with smiles and an eagerness to help make our stay perfect. It was also nice that though they had other guests to take care of they took the time to have conversations with us as well about various topics. The resort itself is well maintained and the pools were all very clean. Even with the construction in one area, it didnt take away from the experience. Every staff member we encountered while walking around, dining or just hanging out was friendly and welcoming! We were always greeted with a hello or have a good day. Our favorite meal was at Butch’s Chophouse and we enjoyed the breakfast options at the American Tavern as well. Overall we would travel here again, perhaps at a different time as April is very windy but still a great trip!
I shouldn't be writing an average review here. It could easily be better, but it's not for stupid, but numerous reasons. On paper this looks amazing, we stayed with our friends in Club level rooms. On arrival, champagne all round, except I don't drink alcohol and wasn't offered any alternative. Good start, sat there while everyone else quaffed their champagne - glad of the water provided when we were waiting for the coach at the airport. The room itself was nice, clean, as expected and described, good storage. Great. Until, we noticed a kettle was missing, and the air con didn't work. Flagged with the office and the AC was fixed next day and a kettle arrived a day after that. Oh, and the coffee pot handle was loose and ended up splashing hot coffee on me, not the way I want coffee to wake me up if I'm honest. Now, some staff are great, but some are truly awful. The attitude of some bar staff is appalling - the resort holds 1 non-alcoholic beer option, not available readily at every bar, and I understood that, but the scowls and looks received when asking for it just made these area's feel uncomfortable and that we really weren't wanted. If only we were loud and drunk like other patrons who received much friendlier service. Staff lied about the zero beers, one even "found" some after denying the hotel even served ANY booze free beers because she "hadn't checked the fridge" - the one she was stood next to as she reluctantly poured a Sprite in lieu. Later sittings in the restaurants were pretty poor too, unfriendly staff who clearly didn't want people there so they could close up, incorrect food, inedible food (Butch's steakhouse, I'm looking at you) and plates banged down in front of us. That said, there were some great restaurants with good staff in them, so not a complete bust. Considering we didn't drink any of the mini bar or fridge alcohol, the soft drinks and water were only replenished every 2 or so days, I was lead to believe this should be daily. Room service was ok, breakfast tray was good, the fact it was sat out side for nearly 24 hours waiting to be collected with birds pecking at it (yes, I informed the desk via WhatsApp of this) wasn't ideal for a resort of this rating. No included water sports r activities available due to the perpetually red flagged beach, I'd believe them but beaches yards, not miles further up the same stretch were yellow at worst, clear in some cases. Another added value not delivered. We actively spent a decent amount more money to ensure we escaped the complex as the atmosphere was simply unpleasant at times. Complained on site, points were allegedly "taken on board" but never heard any feedback - so let's assume they filed that under "we don't care" as well. For the money paid, it's way, way below the standard we were sold and promised, we certainly won't be frequenting any more Sandals resorts unless there is a marked change, which there won't be.
What a poorly run resort this was. This was our 10th Sandals trip and what a disappointment it was. The management team from the floor up need to be replaced. No one tells you anything, you ask a question and they act like you just pissed in their shoes! We had a couple shirts and one pair of jeans sent to laundry, we got them back three days later. The workers on the other hand do their best to please you and for the most part did. The food was okay, nothing special. You call Club Sandals with a concern, they never get back to you. They act like it's a bother to do their job they get paid for. This was the worst resort ever. If Sandals don't step up their game like it was when Butch was alive, they will be out of business! When you cut corners and costs you get.....CHEAP! This is what this place felt like a cheap imitation of what once was!
Second visit to a Sandals resort and absolutely loved it. Our upgrade to a Rondoval was amazing and unexpected, what a magnificent space. Service was outstanding, Princess , Jake and Latrel were the best, they treated us like royalty. Lunch served at the beach and pool was much appreciated and every dinner exceeded our expectations. We will be back and highly recommend Sandals Royal Barbados!
We stayed at Sandals Royal Barbados during reunion week this year in April. It was excellent the days had activities that were special for that week. The catamaran tour was excellent (thanks to Adrian ) we stopped at the beach near Rihanna's house and swam, there was snorkeling trip before that. The Diamond breakfast and Welcome back dinner was was a special treat. We especially enjoyed the little extras the farewell lunch and the manger (Patrick) welcoming everyone. We stayed on the Royal side in building 9 (9234) near entrance and was great housekeeping was excellent. Club Sandals staff were easy to get reservations as long as you were flexible. The biggest shout out goes to Travel and Loyalty desk (sorry for the spelling) Donesa Adrian / shrikia. We spent most of our time at the pool on the Royal side and we could get chairs in the morning after the gym. The new policy was enforced on some occasions chairs left unoccupied most of the day were cleared. Some chairs were never used for the whole day. If you want a quiet area room building nine and ten seemed quiet only the tennis courts and dive shop in that area. We stayed 10 nights and will be back next year for reunion week but at Sandals Grande St Lucia
