Riad Azahar

Riad Azahar was a gorgeous oasis tucked away from the noisy and chaotic Medina. Only a 10 minute walk from the crazy and sensual overload of Djemaa el-Fnaa, Riad Azahar felt like a million miles away. Maybe the only thing better than the Riad itself was the staff - Yusef, Ismael, and Simo were all absolutely delightful and super helpful. Between them, and Roberto (the proprietor) and the housekeeping and kitchen staff, I felt very taken care of, and very safe. Breakfast each morning was superb! I would stay at Riad Azahar again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend it to anyone wishing to vising Marrakesh.

While it was nicely tucked away from the crazy Medina, it was pretty hard to find. Luckily, Simo met us at the square where our taxi dropped us off. Still, a bit hard to find on our own, though I admit to being directionally challenged!

The Riad, the staff, and the experience was superb. We were a bit concerned about some negative comments which included some complaints about noise, location, the riad itself. The complaints, in our opinion, are completely unfounded... how is there going to be any noise when the street is a tertiary street, away from the hustle and bustle? The staff were very welcoming, very attentive and friendly. The room was perfect, and so were the rest of facilities. The dinner offer was excellent, and having the little pool at the top was a fantastic add-on to cool off on the high heat summer days. If we go back to Marrakech definitely we will go back.

Unfortunately the 2023 earthquake has affected the nearby properties significantly, so that means that some ruined properties are still under the rubble, and in some cases there's garbage accumulating in the ruins. Some of the ruined properties are used by marginal people, which can feel a bit eerie. Hopefully the restoration of the ruined properties advances and the streets can recover their full functionality.

We often hear the phrase “a home from home” but nothing could be more apt for this amazing Riad. Lovingly restored with attention to detail you’d think this was enough but on top of this there is an amazing team behind it who welcome you with open arms. Having visited Morocco multiple times, this Riad is the one I felt was a second home and will come back to again. Great terrace too including a small Hamam and plunge pool. I stayed two nights at the riad, I wanted to relax after a previous week of intense work in Marrakech and I really enjoyed my stay. The riad is lovely, charming, very well maintained and super clean. I really like the patio and the colors. What I liked the most is the staff: Youssef, Fatimah, Roberto and Simo were amazing. They make you feel like home. Fatimah makes amazing food!!!

Wir sind spät in der Nacht angekommen, und der vom Riad organisierte Flughafentransfer hat wunderbar funktioniert. Da die letzten Meter durch die engen Gassen der Medina zu Fuß zurückgelegt werden, wurden wir abgeholt und direkt zum Riad begleitet – gerade bei der ersten Ankunft in Marrakesch sehr angenehm. Das Riad Azahar ist wirklich etwas Besonderes: mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet und eine kleine Oase der Ruhe mitten in der Stadt. Unser Zimmer und das Bad waren sehr geschmackvoll gestaltet, und überhaupt hat das ganze Haus eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre. Bei unserem Aufenthalt war es mit knapp 40 Grad sehr heiß. Umso dankbarer waren wir für die gut funktionierende Klimaanlage in den Zimmern. Die Kinder haben sich außerdem sehr über die Möglichkeit gefreut, sich zwischendurch auf dem Dach abzukühlen. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir die herzliche Gastfreundschaft und Herzlichkeit des gesamten Teams. Alle waren unglaublich nett, hilfsbereit und haben sich viel Zeit für unsere Fragen genommen. Wir haben tolle Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt bekommen und uns rundum willkommen gefühlt. Ein rundum schöner Aufenthalt – wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und hoffen sehr, eines Tages noch einmal zurückzukehren.

Ciò che ci è piaciuto di più è stata senza dubbio l'eccezionale ospitalità di Roberto e del suo straordinario staff. Fin dal nostro arrivo ci siamo sentiti accolti come ospiti speciali: la loro disponibilità, premura, cordialità e attenzione a ogni dettaglio ci hanno letteralmente coccolati durante tutto il soggiorno, senza farci mancare nulla. Il riad è meraviglioso: estremamente pulito, curato in ogni particolare, silenzioso e perfetto per rilassarsi dopo una giornata trascorsa a visitare la città. Gli ambienti sono accoglienti e trasmettono autenticamente il fascino del Marocco. Un altro punto di forza è sicuramente la colazione, abbondante, varia e di ottima qualità, preparata con cura e perfetta per iniziare la giornata nel migliore dei modi. Un'esperienza che ha superato ogni aspettativa. Se torneremo in Marocco, questo sarà sicuramente il nostro punto di riferimento. Consigliatissimo!

Assolutamente niente

Riad molto bello, pulito, ben organizzato e arredato con gusto. Camere ampie e confortevoli, ispirate a colori e con richiami all'architettura locale. Cambio asciugamani giornaliero. Colazione ottima, come pure la cena (l'abbiamo provata una volta). Il proprietario (Roberto) segue gli ospiti con cura e simpatia, dando suggerimenti utili per visitare la città, ma senza essere invadente. Una menzione particolare per lo staff, sempre estremamente gentile e disponibile.

Breakfast was great each day. Simone was very helpful and accommodating. Yusef was fantastic. He attended to our every need from the moment we arrived at the square and he wheeled our luggage to the RIAD. The owner was also very pleasant and wanted to ensure we had a wonderful stay. We had a great experience. The location was a little sketchy to start with but once we learned our way around, it was fine. Inside the Medina and close to major shopping. Right in the Jewish Quarter and the spice market. Such fun!

Riad très agréable, chambre spacieuse Del Moro, un peu sombre car non traversante, calme alors que nous étions au rez de chaussée, gde salle de bain. Personnel tjs disponible et bienveillant pour vous être agréable. Nous n'avons malheureusement pas profité de la terrasse car il faisait 38 lors de notre séjour mais la chambre était tempérée pas besoin de mettre de climatisation. Petit déjeuner complet ( laitage, fruit, pain, 1 aliment salé, une mini part de gâteau, café) à partir de 8h.

Les ruelles environnantes un peu sombres au milieu de maisons en ruine suite au séisme de sept 2023 peut être pas des plus rassurant pour une femme seule.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour au riad azahar. Le riad a une belle terrasse, une petite piscine, des chambres confortables et propose un super petit déjeuner ! Mention spéciale pour l'équipe, un grand merci pour votre accueil et votre gentillesse !

Le personnel est vraiment agréable. Les petits déjeuners sont très bien. Les liuex sont jolils.

Como todos los Riads de la Medina, la llegada al lugar puede ser un poco difícil. Como único punto a mejorar quizás las puertas de las habitaciones hacen mucho ruido.

Merci à l'ensemble du personnel, je ne vais pas tous les nommer mais ils sont vraiment tous très gentils, affables, disponibles et très arrangeants. Ils rendent votre séjour très chaleureux et confortable. Le petit déjeuner est excellent, il change tous les jours. L'ensemble du riad est d'une propreté irréprochable, la chambre confortable et la terrasse très appréciable pour profiter du soleil et de la baignade ou lire à l'ombre. Superbe coucher de soleil sur la Koutoubia en ligne d'horizon.. Une pensée pour Roberto, propriétaire du lieu qui est une personne charmante !!!

El lugar estaba muy bonito decorado, limpio y en personal era excepcional. Simo, Joseph, y por supuesto, Roberto, muy atento con nosotros todo el tiempo. Nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Definitivamente volveremos.

OUr stay at Riad Azahar was great! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the riad is quiet, the roof terrace and small pool are great. Our room was very nice as well. We had dinner at the riad on our first evening as we we tired after a long trip and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also very good. I had to have something ironed once but another customer had locked the iron in their room and left so the staff ran to the next dry cleaner's and they had it ready for me in 20 minutes.

I would recommend Riad Azahar to anyone visiting Marrakech. The staff were absolutely fantastic, super friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, thoughtfully organized, and beautifully designed. I would definitely stay there again. Not to mention the excellent breakfast and the stunning rooftop view

Das gesamte Personal ist sehr herzlich & aufmerksam. Der freundliche Besitzer hat uns gute Ausflugsideen gegeben. Auf dem Dach gab es ein hübsches, mit Mosaikfliesen verziertes Bad und Liegestühle. Zum Frühstück wurde stets Süsses & Salziges gereicht. Wir waren rundum glücklich mit der Unterkunft.

For someone who wants to stay amidst the souks it’s perfect. It’s in the center of spice market. When you come from the hustle bustle to the calm atmosphere inside the riad it’s relaxing and feels like home

Ho appena soggiornato in questo splendido riad a Marrakech insieme alle mie amiche e l’esperienza è stata davvero eccellente. Il proprietario, Giorgio, un signore padovano estremamente gentile e disponibile, ci ha fatto sentire accolte fin dal primo momento, con grande attenzione verso ogni nostra esigenza e preziosi consigli per vivere al meglio la città. Un ringraziamento speciale anche a Youssef, sempre premuroso e attento alla nostra sicurezza: sapere che ci aspettava sveglio per aprirci la porta al rientro la sera ci ha fatto sentire davvero tranquille. La colazione era deliziosa, abbondante e curata nei minimi dettagli. Le camere sono bellissime, arredate con gusto, molto pulite e trasmettono una tranquillità incredibile, perfetta dopo le giornate nel caos della medina. La posizione è ottima: vicina al centro e comodamente raggiungibile a piedi. Un posto che consiglio sinceramente a chi vuole vivere Marrakech in un ambiente autentico ma con un’accoglienza davvero speciale.

A nossa estadia foi marcada pela extrema simpatia da equipa, que foi incansável e fez de tudo para atender às nossas necessidades. O riad é muito bonito, bem localizado e, embora as ruas de acesso possam parecer, à primeira vista, um pouco 'manhosas', nunca nos sentimos inseguros. O pequeno-almoço era feito na hora, com produtos típicos e variados, mas sentimos falta de alguma proteína e de mais fruta. A casa de banho era espaçosa e estava muito bem equipada. O quarto estava muito limpo.

Um detalhe que prejudicou grandemente a estética do espaço foi a presença de uma mota enorme estacionada no átrio durante toda a nossa estadia, mesmo ao lado da porta do nosso quarto. Outro aspeto curioso é o facto de os quartos não terem fechadura. Quando questionamos sobre este aspeto, ofereceram-se para nos fornecer um cadeado, mas nota-se que não é um procedimento comum. Como nesta altura do ano o rooftop estava quase sem utilização e a piscina sem água, a relação qualidade-preço pareceu-nos um pouco elevada para o que é oferecido fora da época alta.

Freddino nelle aree comuni, nonostante lo splendido camino acceso. D’altronde ammetto che io sono particolarmente freddolosa (sto bene al di sopra dei 25 gradi), era gennaio e il tempo atmosferico molto inclemente durante il nostro soggiorno. Non potevo pretendere che facesse caldo a queste condizioni e per giunta in un Riad.

Prima di tutto l'ottima posizione nella parte vecchia e caratteristica della città, comodo a tutti i siti da visitare e ad ottimi ristoranti nonchè al souk delle spezie. Speciale accoglienza da parte del proprietario italiano di cui si vede il tocco anche nella comodità della camera (letto ampio) e del bagno (c'è il bidet!). Colazione abbondante e varia e possibilità di cenare previo accordo (noi ne abbiamo approfittato: tutto gradevole, ben presentato e servito con gentilezza).

Although this may be just my style, but I would have loved a more proteic breakfast option. The breakfast is very tasty, fresh, no complaints, but if you’re used to a proteic breakfast you might be a bit disappointed

The owner and staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, from teaching us how to get around, to explaining how to haggle for taxis, and welcoming us home every time we got back from our day and night time adventures. It felt a bit like staying with a host family during study abroad in the best way possible. This was our first time in Morocco, and we will certainly be back to Marrakech and this riad! I've heard that Moroccan hospitality is great, but staying at this riad really blew my expectations out of the water. Because it's winter, we didn't get to use the pool so we're just going to have to come back. There is an adorable rooftop with a pool and a view of the Atlas mountains! The courtyard is beautiful, the rooms are great and the heating unit worked well for the chilly nights. It was absolutely dumping rain one morning but they had umbrellas for us to use for the day, so thoughtful. Location was amazing, easy to walk to major sightseeing spots, easy to get a taxi and get dropped off by taxi, couldn't have asked for better location. We only stayed 3 nights and were able to fit in El Badi Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Madrasa, Koutoubia Mosque, Jardin Majorelle, along with thoroughly exploring Jemaa El Fna and the surrounding souks without any problem or any rush. The excellent location meant that getting around was as frictionless as it could get considering the narrow paths and roads. Breakfast everyday was delicious, especially loved the yogurt and fresh orange juice. The coffee and milk were always HOT, starting off every day strong :) The actual room itself was great, bed was SUPER comfy and supportive, plenty of counter space in the bathroom which was the main thing I was looking for. The surrounding neighborhood was super safe and super quiet at night. I was concerned before this trip, 2 women traveling together, but we had zero issue.

The water temperature in the shower fluctuated quite frequently one or two nights, it would get super hot and then super cold all of a sudden. But it didn't happen often enough to be too big of an issue.

The staff here went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, share recommendations and help with directions. Everyone was extremely friendly and even helped me with my bags both arriving and departing! The riad was beautiful, clean and located just a short distance from everything I needed! I loved the culture surrounding the area and felt perfectly safe navigating my way around! I would 100 recommend for your stay!!

This Riad is beautiful and the staff were like family. They cared for us so well, and took our comfort and enjoyment of their city personally. We slept and ate like Kings.

O que destacaria em 1º lugar é a amabilidade e atenção do dono e também dos funcionários. Extremamente competentes, cordiais e muito atentos às nossas possíveis necessidades ou desejos. O hotel é muito bonito, com uma bela decoração e um terraço maravilhoso ao fim da tarde. Jantámos no hotel e gostámos muito dos pratos marroquinos, muito saborosos.

O acesso era difícil, embora em certas situações algum funcionário nos ajudasse.

The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. One of my friends was sick and Youssef went out to the market and got her some Moroccan cold remedies. That was so kind of him to do. The breakfast and dinner service is wonderful. Simo was amazing and prepared very good meals for us. This riad has a well curated space and feels very homey.

The property was so clean and it was most comfortable stay we had in our two week trip. We got the hibiscus room which was excellent! Breakfast in the morning was amazing and was prepared for us earlier if we needed to leave that day. Each one of the people who worked there made sure we were comfortable and made sure we had what we needed. We saw the true hospitality of Morocco when we stayed at this Riad. We will definitely recommend Riad Azahar to everyone of our friends.

The breakfast was exceptional, it was different every day and delivered by Simo with a smile and a greeting. Each item was explained and there was plenty for a good days walking the city

We loved every thing Roberto the owner helped when ever needed, Youssef was friendly and always courteous. Ismail always had time to speak . I can not fault the staff in any way

The riad was perfect. Everyone there looked after you so thoughtfully. The room was cleaned everyday spotlessly. In fact the whole riad was spotless. Attention to detail was first rate. The location was great too with regards going out walking to everything. It may seem confusing to find at first but really it was easy to navigate the lanes once you did it once.

Nous avons aimé notre séjour. Du début à la fin. Le Riad Azahar était parfait pour notre séjour. Du petit déjeuner varié, riche et simplement délicieux. Au repas du soir tout autant excellent tout cela dans un cadre exceptionnel. La chambre spacieuse et confortable typique des Riads. Ce fût une réelle surprise positive. Le tout entouré d'un personnel au dessus de tout. Roberto entouré de son équipe nous ont accompagné et ont été aux petits soins pour nous. Merci à lui ainsi qu'a Youssef, Ismael, Simon et toutes les personnes que nous n'avons pas rencontré mais qui ont sublimé notre séjour.
