Clean, tea and coffee facility, good access to high street restaurants and cafes. Next to train station if required.
Parking a bit tight
The welcome was fun and friendly and the entrance and room were exceptionally clean. The location is superb and the off road parking is a real benefit especially as the railway station is directly opposite. The Great Tapestry of Scotland is within walking distance and well worth a visit.
N/A
Owner was friendly and gave advice on good places for meals
Smelt funny, very cramped and bed wasn't that comfy
Very close to rail station. Clean and tidy accommodation. Pleasant staff.
Nothing.
It was cosy and clean, and what was expected, there was plenty of coffee and tea to make use of
Private bathroom but the shared one was only next door
Great hosts and location. Entrance door always unlocked. Bath sheets rather than towels. Good sized kettle. Loved being opposite station having washbasin in room was great. Lots of hangers in wardrobe. Good old fashioned room key, rather than keycard.
Personal preference only: semi skimmed milk rather than whole for hot drinks in the room.
Rght next to the railway and bus station but could hear no noisees at all
No room for a little table for the kettle and tea and coffee.
Very close to Railway station and town centre
No more Breakfast anymore
Location was great. The station and bus depot were very close. Also, walking in to Galashiels centre didn't take long at all and there was a good choice of places to eat. The host was really welcoming and helpful.
The decor was a little dated but it was clean, safe and warm. So the benefits far exceeded the minor cosmetic issues. In fact I would far rather stay here again than a generic chain hotel. Also, as others have mentioned - no breakfast, but there was no shortage of cafés within walking distance so it was no bother.
Friendly owner, comfy bed
Proximity near every thing
Not modern.
Very central
Very little room, single beds, no sitting area, lack of information
There was no breakfast. Good location for Travellers. Being just opposite railway & next to bus station it is very convenient to travel around. Owner was friendly.
Not having breakfast, small room.for 2 beds. Rather expensive for such small room with minimal facility.I
The owner was great. As helpful as could be.
It was a Saturday night with a taxi pickup point outside. I have the window open so a little noisy at 12 midnight to 1am. It was entertaining and I could have closed the window to get back to sleep so not venues fault.
This is a good option only an hour out of very expensive Edinburgh. It is value for money and has a number of good meal options for dinner within walking distance. A kind host and clean room with good facilities provided a good rest for the onward journey.
It was so close to the MacArts venue, the host was really nice. Close to 2 Chinese takeaways but they were closed when we got back after our night out.plenty tea and coffee in the room.
The bed was old and uncomfortable, but the pillows were nice. Considering the £100 paid for the room, a complementary packet of biscuits would have been nice.
Close to railstation and bus services.
No adverse comments.
The host was very helpful and friendly.
The announcements from the railway station were a bit loud but after a while I got used to them.
No breakfast. For folks travelling by bus or train the location is ideal. Enjoyed the closeness to shops and places to eat. The landlord was extremely friendly, informative of surroundings and helpful with our questions. This made our stay in Galashiels memorable.
The mattresses need to be updated.
A very close distance to the train station and nearby shops.
A bit old.
Great location right next to the bus station and the town centre. Good communication from the host. Comfortable bed , good facilities , slept well
I couldn't find any obvious down side to the property
Comfortable and friendly
Perfect location close to railway and bus stations without being noisy; lovely room with en suite facilities; great advice on local restaurants etc; and a very warm welcome after a long day’s walking.
All was quiet. Location could not be better. Gentelman of the house very friendly. Good value for the stay.
Nothing to dislike.
Central location. Pleasant owners
Nothing.
Friendly and helpful staff, reasonably big room.
The bed was not the most comfortable and there was only one very thin pillow. The shower was nice and hot but didn't have much water pressure. I had to move one of the beds to access a plug point and there were a lot of crumbs on the floor under the bed so not the cleanest.
Position in galashiels
Share toilet .I back breaking single mattress.and 1 big orthopaedic one
Super close to train and bus station, close to lovely restaurants and near the tapestry of scotland exhibition
Friendly clean
Nothing
Very noisy area. Musty smell. Smell of someone smoking in another room.
Location good. Rosie who welcomed us was friendly and informative. Room perfectly adequate for our 1 night stay with 2 dogs
Plug sockets too close to floor to get modern plugs in
Basic but clean and good value for money. Short walk to town. Hazel was brilliant and catered very well for our needs. Great place to stay if doing castles and coast cycle ride as en route.
It was so useful to be near the bus station
ensuite ( toilet in room ) would have been better
Friendly staff, clean, comfortable, facilities good for the price
No breakfast
Excellent location for doing the Coast and Castles bike tour. Malcolm let us store our bikes safely in a downstairs room 👍
Cleanliness,location and owner.
Nothing
The hosts were lovely and welcoming.
There was nothing I didn't like, the stay was great. Excellent location, lovely friendly hosts, the room was clean and excellent value for money.
Close to the bus station and the train station and a 2 minute walk into town. Staff were friendly and always contactable
Room was dated, no socket near the kettle to plug in, beds squeaked quite badly, no lock on the toilet door
Absolutely perfect location if arriving by bus or train to Galashiels! For this reason alone I would book again! Malcolm is proactive in his communication. He gives good ,local advice based on your likes and dislikes. As a lone ,female visitor who was only there for one night, I felt safe and comfortable.
Not so much a “didn’t like “, more a preference in that next time I visit, I Smight go for an en-suite rather than the shared bathroom!
- The location was very convenient, in front of the train station, near shops, easy quick walk to the High Street - Malcom was an excellent host, providing all the information needed for a good stay and even recommending a lovely restaurant based on my food preferences - I stayed in a room that shared a bathroom with another room, but I had a sink in my own room, which was very convenient! I needed a one night stay so that I could join a music workshop near Galashiels the next morning. Monorene guest house worked very well for me!
- The area can be a bit noisy, due to the proximity to the road and train station, but I had noise cancelling ear plugs with me and slept very well - I stayed in a twin room, by myself. I could notice that one of the beds was not comfortable and made noises. I could then sleep on the other bed, so no issues. But if I was with another person this would definitely not be ideal
La situación junto a la estación de tren y autobuses
Property is very accessible to transportation around the town of Galashiels
Central, near facilities and parking available.
Very close to railway station & centre of town. Ability to leave luggage on early arrival & late check out. Local knowledge of places to eat & things to do in Gala.
Just what we needed for an over night stay.
Despite being right beside the train and bus depot it was surprisingly quiet. The style of the room was quaint and cozy. My host was very friendly and offered a number of helpful suggestions regarding food options.
I didn’t notice any green space around, if you wanted to sit outside it was basically a table and chairs on a concrete slab.
Friendly owner and central location and bike storage.
Tiny room apportioned to me when all other rooms were unoccupied! Tv didnt work, i wanted to watch the snooker final
The gentleman was lovely and polite
The price could be lowered i believe in my opinion and thats mainly just because yeah you get a bed for the night but with it being a b n b and not having breakfast in morning I feel like the cost should be lowered because your only getting half of a b n b does
This was perfect for what we needed a bit dated but comfortable and warm, greeted by owner who is lovely
as it was an old building you could smell damp on the stairwell
Silence
Nothing!
Tiny room could touch both walls without a stretch Shared bathroom
Perfect location for the train . Old fashioned decor but room was clean bed was very comfortable. I had a great nights sleep .
Could do with decor update however it was perfectly serviceable.
The location, it was on the A7 which we used the day after our stay, also it was a stones throw from the centre of town for everything. If we'd needed the train to Edinburgh it was just across the road
Close to gig
Shower not brilliant
The lady who greeted us was so lovely, very friendly, very helpful
Beds, shared bathroom, lack of plug sockets, small car park, could only take 4 cars and there’s 6 rooms
I was here for work, good central location. Staff member / owner was super friendly, checking in the evenings making sure everything was ok
Nothing to dislike, really
Great value & location. Very clean. Very friendly owner.
Nothimg.
Excellent location right next to the bus station and across the road from the train station, and 2 minutes walk from the main high street. Directly across the road is a large Home Bargains superstore. Also the owner stored my luggage on the day of departure.
Proprieter called us to make sure he knew when we were arriving and to tell us he might be out. We were delayed in arriving and we reaaly appreciated his kindness in taking the trouble to call. Very easy to check in and out. The location is close to the centre of the town.
We had twin beds, one of which was quite uncomfortable (not much of a matress, could feel the ironwork underneath.
Every thing good
It was basic, but was reasonable enough considering the price
One thing that could be improved whilst not costing much is a topper for the mattress - or a new mattress. I slept on top of the duvet as the mattress was too uncomfortable.
Clean and good condition.
Slightly uncomfortable bed.
Location
Lovely hosts , easy check in . Comfortable beds .
Location
Didn’t see anybody apart from the cleaner. Very dated.
The ease of availability and check-in / out
No breakfast
Location and the price and friendly owner
Staff
Need to hoover bedrooms and corridors. Room needs a very good clean
stay was great
na
Malcolm very helpful and informative. Helpful to be able to keep the car there whilst visiting the tapestry. Really well placed for the town.
I had not read the details so thought breakfast was included. However, it wasn't an issue as there were loads of places to have breakfast in easy walking distance.
Location
Nowt
I have stayed in this place for a number of times and it has always been a great little B and B guest house may it stay like it is for a good few years 😀😀😀😀😀😀. Mi
