The Cottages on Salt Spring Island

The lovely rooms on 3 levels, and a toilet on each floor. Very peaceful and relaxing. Easy commute to Ganges and Vesuvius.

The steps down to the cabin are a bit difficult for 80 year old guest :) and the very deep bathtub :)

The Cottages property is pretty and in a nice location not too far from Ganges. Cabins have a good layout but not all cabins are decorated at the same level. Lake side means you can see the lake but lake view does not.

We had some issues with our booking & our cabin(s) but Sarah & Amy did their best to make things right and we appreciate that.

Privacy, de goede uitrusting va de cabin. het balkon in het zonnetje met uitzicht op de raccoon die zich te goed deed aan de inhoud van de birdfeder van de buren. Groen met mooi uitzicht op het meer. Goede uitvalsbasis voor het verder verkennen van het eiland.

Was wat onpersoonlijk; geen automatisch contact met de beheerder die alles heeft geautomatiseerd. Als je alleen reist is het wel zo fijn spontaan mensen tegen te komen waarmee je een praatje kan maken en kan leren van de locatie, bezienswaardigheden, do's & don'ts. Dat ontbrak.

The lake and the accommodations and the facility was outstanding. Great for kids, families, everyone.

Fantastic location with lake views and only a short 5 min drive to town. The cottage had everything we required for our extended weekend stay. Just loved being on the lake with a dip each morning, used the canoes too. All in all, a memorable long weekend. definitely be back. Very helpful front office too.

Layout of home was comfortable. Furniture comfortable.

The mattress in the downstairs bedroom was stained and had no mattress cover. The pillows were stained yellow. No dish towels to dry dishes. No dish soap. Needed to bring everything except the salt and pepper but we knew that ahead of arriving. There was toilet paper and glad for that!

We needed a place on Salt Spring Island, so this was perfect

The layout of the cabin is very open, there are no doors into the bedrooms. That makes it hard to keep noises, heat, smells and light out when you want to sleep. The master bathroom has glass instead of a real wall - no privacy! And any light in the bathroom illuminates the bedroom area and disturbs the person trying to sleep. These design features are not evident from the photos in the ad.

Beautiful home! I loved the cottage! Only tip I would given is to bring your own pillow if you don't like puffy pillows! Otherwise it was awesome and super helpful staff with fun activities all over the propery

It was absolutely lovely cottage with everything we needed. The location was perfect. As the weather was very warm it was nice to be on the lake and have access to paddle boards

The only thing was the toilet paper

Our cottage was bright, comfortable, well-equipped, quiet and in a fairly secluded spot. It's just a few minutes drive to the town of Ganges. During a district-wide power outage the manager came by at dusk to give us some candles and matches.

Lovely cottage.

What appeared to be a long term resident very loudly cutting his grass for a long time in the evening just across the road from our previously quiet balcony.

Beautiful location close to town but felt like you were away in a peaceful setting. Loved swimming in the lake and use of boats.

my only complaint was having to check out at 10am. I found it a bit rushed for a place you have to do your own cleaning. I would have liked it to be 11am

Great quiet townhouse overlooking small lake. Very clean and spacious. Tree paddle boards and canoes at the dock.

The place was spotless and spacious. It was also very well located. Parking was free and right beside the unit. The management were very positive and responsive

The only negative was the water amenities. There were no canoe paddles of a reasonable size, and the life jackets were lacking. Water amenities were free, so it wasn't a huge problem, just to set expectations

Quiet, near lake and Ganges.

We had 2 units for a family get together. Unit 13 had a lovely lake view, and an updated feel. Unit 49 had no lake view but still was a lovely treetop view. The surrounding area was was walkable and very well maintained. Lots of wildlife.

Unit 49- Missing a few key things- hair dryer in lower bedroom, spatula for flipping eggs, second chair on lower balcony. It smelled like a dog when we walked in. Got better after we opened the windows It was impossible to find enough paddles for the kayak and canoes for the 6 of us to go out, as many were broken.

We were in cabin 15. The only issue was the shower head. It was severely weak! If you could change that on both showers, that would perfect the experience. It made washing off soap/shampoo a bit more difficult.

Peaceful, quiet and great wildlife

We love the location of this property and have stayed two times before. It’s secluded and beautiful by the lake. The beds were comfortable and enjoyed the bath products included.

The property was looking very worn. The front steps need to be painted and the downstairs walk out wasn’t swept. Everything is dated and there was too much furniture crammed in the living room. No blankets available to use out on the deck. The electric kettle was broken and the kitchen table was wobbly. It was quite dusty and needed a good clean in the corners. Nothing major but feeling like it’s in need of some updates.

Superb lakeside resort. Very quiet and a few minutes by car to downtown Ganges.

Upstairs bedroom TV was not yet connected

Location was great. Had difficulty locking the door on the first day. Called after hours number. Call was never returned. Had trouble with TV. Staff came to assist. Having some basic supplies in the kitchen would be appreciated. Small amount of sugar, oil, foil. Difficult to buy this things while travelling. Beds were comfortable. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony and the dock.

Good location, close to Ganges (less than a 10 minute drive). Property was modern, clean and spacious. Kitchen was well equipped with most things you would need for a short stay. There were a couple of fans provided, which was great as it was quite hot during our stay, one of them was very loud though. Nice view of the lake and peaceful area. Self check in and check out was problem free. We stayed in a lakeview duplex (no. 13).

Bed and pillows were not that comfortable (very fat pillows!), luckily we took our own. Only one hand towel in each bathroom, two would have been nice, also better quality toilet paper and a box of tissues would have been appreciated. The Cottages have a very late check in - 5pm and an early check out - 10am. I did request an earlier check in and was able to get in at 3pm, which was much better.

Clean, well appointed, quiet location, beautiful, easy places to walk with the dog (and allowed dogs), great porch to hang out on, good kitchen set up, and comfy beds.

All was really lovely except the lack of doors for the bedrooms - it is just a strange design with a loft bedroom upstairs and basement bedroom. Neither have a door and sound traveled. Glad it was just our family and not two couples.

Close to town. Right in nature feeling like you were far from everything but actually wasn’t. So many birds.

Drawers for cutlery and plates not clean so we had to wash everything before using. Lake view didn’t have a view of the lake.

Very spacious. Loved the high ceilings and lighting. It had all the amenities, so we were able to stay in to cook dinner and relax in the evenings (which was convenient because everything on the island closed at 5!) Its location to town was also fantastic—just a short drive away.

Because of its location near the lake, it was a bit buggy, which prevented us from sitting outside at night. Next time, we’ll be sure to bring bug repellant!

I always appreciate condiments, etc so I can cook without buying some basics I only need a small amount of. Also, would have appreciated more information about recycling- expectations, etc... Couldn't figure out how to turn on the gas fireplace. Needed on a chilly rainy day!

The street signs to go to the cottage are a bit confusing. The cottage number is invisible at night. Please repaint it.

Exceptional accommodations but the most expensive I’ve ever paid. Saying that, all three couples plus two kiddies thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Fantastic location and haven for relaxation. Very comfortable beds.

The property was not very clean. One bathroom bin was full from the previous guest unfortunately (with used diapers). So we had to deal with that. Dust and general cleaning was quite poor. There is no dishwasher in the kitchen, some of the items were quite dirty and greasy. Not washed well. One tea towel was a bit hard for four days with a lot of time spent there. Felt like there should be been better supplies left.

Very easy to get there. So quiet, the view of the lake. Everything was there for cooking, relaxation. The place was comfy.

The Cottages were lovely. Clean, open, great beds. We rented several as a family and the grounds and lake were lovely.

Somewhat limited hot water. But mostly just because 1 of our group had a big bath.

Lovely position

It wasn’t cleaned properly - the shower was full of hair. When we asked for it be cleaned we were told it was the person on the desk’s day off! Someone was sent to clean it. There was a major windstorm & the power went out for 8 hours. There were 2 half used candles but no matches or lighter. No body came to check on damage or to see if people were all right. There was no management presence at all. Very disappointing.

Duplex was beautifully renovated while outside was rustic looking

We had to change our arrival date due to full ferry. Difficult to get ahold of anyone at cottages, and booking.com was useless. In the end we’re glad that place could accommodate our change.

The place was very quiet and beautiful. The cottage was spacious and lovely. It was a place that allowed you to relax and take in that slow island life.

One of the couches did have some animal fur or hair on it. It triggered some mild allergies.

it was a short stay but all was good. only difficulty was that my sister cabin didn't have any garbage bags. no big, we had some from the other cabins.

We arrived at night, was difficult finding our cabin… clearer directions on the parking would have been helpful.

Superb, quiet location with well appointed units, provding both oppoertunities for activities in the water, and relaxation for us oldies on the "cottage" balconies. All this on an island that features rural charm, great restaurants, and a vibrant local economy in foodstuffs and beverages,

Kitchen poorly stocked in terms of cooking supplies. They did say that only Salt and Pepper is provided. I do think having some sugar and creamer would have been nice for the price. Coffee maker was small and burned the coffee. We had to rig it to do a pour over. It was not super clean quite dusty.

The cottage we stayed at was very nicely furnished and had a nice kitchen that was well stocked with everything you need to cook.

Peace and quiet

There is an office on the property and we popped in the day before our check in. Sarah was so kind and helpful. We were able to get an earlier check in and she even put us in a different cabin with an amazing lake view. Thanks Sarah 😉

The cottage was cosy and warm on arrival, the beds were very comfortable, there is abundant natural light (but also blinds to block for sleep), serene beautiful view and the layout provided nice separate quarters. Really thoughtful little touches like local coffee and soap and holiday decorations made our stay extra lovely.

The lack of doors on the bedrooms makes privacy and waking at different times a bit challenging, so I would just recommend sharing with close family and/or friends.

Big unit (Two-Bedroom Duplex). Bathtubs are big. Beds are comfy. We went during late Dec -- it was quiet.

Cookware can be a bit random.
