Residence Les Bambous

Residence les Bambous is not a luxury hotel, but a delightful family run guesthouse. It is simple and friendly, and breakfast on the family-shared rooftop terrace was excellent. I felt like I was living with the family, rather than in a cold impersonal hotel. Over two days we felt very welcome. Ritesh and his wife (apologies - I didn't get her name) were always smiling and welcoming and worked extremely hard. We even had a 4am airport pick-up, met by a smiling Ritesh.

My first room was a bit tired but it was fine - perfectly comfortable. My room on my return trip 2 weeks later was newer and the bathroom was better. In retrospect, it was all good.

Ce que j'ai aimé , la proximité avec le Water front, la gare, le marché du Lundi, la proximité avec Pointe D'esny et Blue Bay, les nombreux magasins d'alimentation générale épars, le Grillicious un peu plus haut, les deux vendeurs de Dhull Purri

Petit déjeuner laisse à désirer : les liquides genre laitage ou café, beaucoup trop dilués et donc goût des saveurs inexistantes, même eu droit à un épisode de lait avarié. Au niveau des solides ( pain, œufs, crêpes...) c'est un peu mieux, mais c'est pas non plus ce qui vaut de payer un petit déjeuner. C'est l hôte qui vous fait cuire l'œuf, les crêpes et vous sert le pain. Seul les condiments qu'on met dedans ( chocolat, non que de de Ferrero, confitures et petit beurrier sont déjà sur table) . A mon sens, ça vaut pas la peine de payer la formule en plus, autant prendre ses affaires la veille au shop du coin et se le préparer le matin avant de sortir. De fait, à mon sens c'est un manque de professionnalisme, l'Hôte m'a donné plus le sentiment de chercher à s'enrichir que de faire du service à ses convives. La chambre en elle même : trop petite, la salle de bain trop à proximité du lit, la petite verrandas qui empiète au final sur la chambre alors que c'est cette dernière la pièce principale. Une plus jolie déco intérieure quant aux matériaux, coloris des murs et un peu de mobilier digne de ce nom serai pas du luxe Au final, ok je ne m'attendais pas à un Hôtel de standing, c'était un choix pour juste dormir et aller faire ses affaires en journées, donc là dessus, si c'est juste un endroit pour tomber dormir le soir et dés le matin plié vos affaires et partir, c'est ok, sans le p'tit dej et de préférence seul(e) . en tout cas pour moi, même si encore une fois suis pas douillé et que je contente de peu, je ne prendrai plus ce genre de formule B and B et encore moins, chez l'habitant. Je mettrai le prix pour un vrai hôtel

We loved everything about this place, the location, the hosts, the help with everything. The host Ritesh and his wife were very friendly and welcoming and helped us with sightseeing and advice on eating local places. Ritesh was very reliable with airport transfers and with a guided tour. Delicious generous breakfast and a great feeling of learning about the culture and customs of the place. Best value for money. Thank you very much!

L’emplacement est super- à côté de bus terminal- bus direct à Blur Bay ainsi que à l’aéroport, tout est à 15 min, très pratique. L’hôte est très accueillant. La chambre familiale est très spacieuse, la cuisine est bien équipée, grande terrasse. Parfait rapport qualité/prix

Nous avons etait a 5 pour une nuite un peu moin 15 min de l aeroport a l exterieur beaucoup de petit restaurant et commerce a cotér. L hote tres accueillant a l ecoute nous met a l aise reseau wifi parfait . les chambres climatisé balcon ouvert pour emprofiter l exterieur. Bon rapport qualité prix petit dejeuné onctueux a l etage compris

Booked two rooms for 4 adults and 2 children for a muggy night on 29 Dec ‘25. Units were clean, no overly unpleasant odours and furnishings were largely acceptable. However, there are just too many issues to ignore: ceiling fan only working in one unit; both air conditioners not working (not at all in one unit and intermittently in the other); no hot water in either unit, tv not working; bedside lamp not working; no complementary coffee/tea or bottled water. At this price it is admittedly budget accommodation but there is no excuse for this incompetence and/or lack of basic maintenance. We left before the complementary breakfast and definitely won’t be back nor do we recommend it.

My recent visit to the beautiful island of Mauritius was extraordinary. My host, Ritesh, provided exceptional service and genuine care, offering thoughtful guidance and sharing parts of the island’s history and beauty that most tourists never encounter. As a world traveler, this stands out as one of my best travel experiences. I stayed at Residence Les Bambous, which, while not the newest property, was clean, efficient, and perfectly suited for travelers who want to explore the island rather than focus on luxury accommodations. Some reviews were unfairly critical, but I found the hotel ideal for my needs. Each morning, a hot and plentiful breakfast was served on the rooftop, framed by stunning mountain views. Between the island’s natural beauty and Ritesh’s knowledgeable, attentive hosting, this trip was unforgettable and deeply treasured. Mauritius captured my heart in every way.

Maison familiale encastrée dans une rue populaire assez bruyante (chiens la nuit, appel du muezzin à 4h du matin, difficile de dormir),maison assez vétuste. Pas de rideau de douche. L'odeur d'égout dans les chambres est très marquée. Literie d'un autre temps très inconfortable!

Ritesh et ses parents sont très gentils. Ritesh est accueillant, bienveillant. C'est une belle personne. L'emplacement est idéal dans Mahebourg.

La literie est un peu fatiguée.

Wall in bathroom had blood on. Bidding was dirty white marks on. There was hair in the bed. Knives and forks was dirty. Room had a bad closed smell. Sorry but that is what our experiences was there

The host & team are very friendly, caring, experienced & professional. Very reliable for airport transfers & tours around the south part of the island and more. Best place to stay and experience Mahébourg as a local as the location is close to delicious local & seafood restaurants (discovered thanks to the host advices), the market, bus terminal to Blue Bay everything within walking distance ! You will also meet Rambo the cat 😸 & his friend(s) who are also very friendly. I highly recommend.

The host was pretty sweet and helpful and quite welcoming. They served one of the best pancakes I have had till date. Even helped us with the luggage and parking the car inside.

Hébergement simple, efficace et propre. Le petit déjeuner est a l'image de la résidence simple et efficace : pain, beurre, confiture, une part de gateau artisanal, une crepe fraiche et un oeuf frit a la minute tous les matins et aussi un fruit. The price. Helpful owners parked our car inside the gate every night. Close to Mahébourg Museum.

Hard to find location; had to ask several people including two policemen; eventually stumbled on it. No control of air conditioning. Room got uncomfortably hot. Had to climb stairs to 3rd floor. Hard to park.

I am the sort of a person who don’t like to complain, but as soon as we got to the residence the owner start complaining about the price we paid as though we set the price and then I booked a room with that Gardenview he give me a room with a garbage view, and then he said there’s no breakfast included I showed him that there was breakfast included he said OK I’ll give you breakfast I said don’t don’t do me no favours, breakfast is included so he kept complaining about the price I paid as though I set the price and I booked the place seven months prior and the headline says breakfast included. I got my breakfast, but the bed was low metal frame, with a thin mattress and wobbly so is the stair handrail, we had to go up the stairs even though he had a room downstairs with the Garden-view and we are two seniors with a walking disability, shame on you.

The hosts were extremely hospitable and make you feel welcome. They went out of the way to give us breakfast early for the flight. The property is in decent condition and suitable for budget travelers.

An excellent guest house with a great host, Ritesh, who cannot do enough to make your stay an enjoyable one. We were stopping over en route to the UK and Ritesh kindly collected us from and delivered us to the airport at a very reasonable cost. The accommodation is "guest house" so don't expect 5 star luxury but Ritesh has most things covered that a normal guest house would not ... providing items such as insect repellant should you want to wander out to explore the neighbourhood and plug adapters. There's WiFi at no cost and we were very impressed that Ritesh, as we had a very early flight, very generously rose very early in the moring to provide a substantial breakfast for us prior to his cook arriving to cater for the other guests. "Over and above" we thought. So, we were impressed ... especially with the cost of an overnight stay ... fantastic value from money with great customer service provided. There's much to recommend Residence Les Bambous.

Les Bambous was a very pleasant and friendly stay as I overnighted in Mauritius. Nothing was too much trouble for the host. I will certainly return.

Everything is good

Close to the airport, easy early checkout. Owner was nice.

The apartment was really dirty. Kitchen equipments were greasy and disgusting. There wasn’t any battery in the remote of the AC. AC seemed like it was not cleaned for ages. It was really uncomfortable to sleep there but we arrived late so we did not have the chance to go somewhere else. It is ok that it’s not modern for that price but it should have been cleaned. Wifi connection was poor.

Very nice owners who help out with tips for activities and do their best to make you welcome. Ritesh even arranged to join a catamaran trip to Ile aux Cerfs and parked my car inside the gate for the night (very narrow passage if more than one to be parked). The breakfast is also very nice with pancake, omlette, fruits, toast and coffee or tea. I also liked the ceiling fan.

The room was quite small but absolutely fine if you only sleep there as I did.

The property is near the airport only several minutes driving. Thus, it is a perfect place for transfer. The owner family is very friendly especially Ritesh who reacts quickly to the customer’s needs. He is such a diligent young man, not only in charge of the management but also is a great chef making nice breakfast to cater. He knocks on the door exactly at 6am to take me to the airport. He is so kind and patient, introducing the sightseeing places because he can also provide the tour guide service. His wife, Ovima, is also a wonderful lady! She always smiles let me feel like my family member. It is amazing their nieces are so beautiful, smart and nice to me. They are staying there on vacation. They make me feel I am staying with family not a traveler. The price is reasonable including the breakfast really a good experience there!

It was very close to the airport when arriving on an evening flight. The room was comfortable, breakfast was amazing and staff super friendly.

As vegetarians there was only cheese toast and pancakes. Some mushrooms chips and salad would have been preferable with baked beans. It’s close to the airport which is good. Ritesh and his wife were very helpful and accommodating. We had a lovely stay and we were comfortable. Definitely great value for money. Wouldn’t have minded paying a little more for a good breakfast. Should be an option.

Microwave didn’t work although we didn’t mention that to the owners. Some bowls and cutlery would be convenient. Great value for money.

Room was very basic but all you need. we crashed in for a night an was totally fine for this short stay. Didn't have parking but we parked in front of the property in the street.
