Dowon Guesthouse

Very kind host, convenient location, warm and comfortable

Really great space near the artist alley street. The host is very nice and we're actually staying here again! It's walkable from the hanok village. There is also a nice area where you can take pictures.

Everything was good! No complaints.

Emplacement impeccable.

Very clean, and very privacy room. Such a warm welcome from the owner. Clean bathroom, have everything you need👍🏼

La gentilezza dell'host, la posizione dell'hanok e la pulizia.

The host was nice and helpful.

L'habitació i lavabo estava net. Molta tranquil·litat a la nit

La sala on esmorzarem no estava molt neta.

Dowon Guesthouse is a wonderful place to stay. The Hanok is pretty, and the location is very good. Walking distance to the Hanok village. The guesthouse owner is so kind and friendly. She helped us a lot and made our stay very pleasant. I really recommend staying at this Hanok.

It’s very close to the old town about a 1km walk. But a nice walk. The place is nice but not really big enough for a family and luggage. Just too tight.

Breakfast sooo late at 9am. Like way too late . We did not end up having any breakfast as you just sit around waiting till

This hostel is so beautiful with a lovely garden and traditional housing and hosts so welcoming. We slept very comfortably in traditional beds with heated floors, and free breakfast was offered! Really recomend for your stay at Jeonju.

Nothing!

There was an AC in the room.

Thin wall, every neighbour was audible. I had ants. I paid for the family room, I got a different, small room, Way too tiny showers. The shower door leaked. It was not allowed to go in with shoes. It was not allowed to eat or drink in the room. Breakfast was very very little and shy, and not even Korean. Two sockets did not work. I inly got 1 tiny towel for shower. There was a whole on the door covering, so I could see out, and people could see in my room.

Traditional style rooms at affordable prices. We had a wonderful stay at Dowon's. The A/C was cold which was important since it's middle of the summer, and the rooms were cozy and clean. The place had everything we needed and was also very close to the cultural village with tons of restaurants, cafes and shops. The host was also very friendly and helpful with information about the area. Definitely a recommended place to stay if you want a traditional Korean stay experience with all of the conveniences you need.

Nice traditional rooms, free breakfest

Very good location, walkable to the key tourist sites. Friendly and helpful owner (e.g. supplied maps). Sizeable common food storage, prep, consumption space. Nice garden with ample seating. While room is small, it has separate bath/shower, AC and wi-fi.

Not owner's fault, but my navigation app NAVER couldn't pinpoint and I had to park and then wander around to locate.

The host was very nice and helpful.

Shower was hard to use

Very Nice host giving a lot of information

Bathroom shower Not very practical (Full bathroom is wet when you try to take a shower)

A nice setting and a good location. The staff is very friendly.

We were very unlucky with the weather so the room felt crowded for a family of 3 as we couldn't enjoy the outdoors.

Super nice owner, great breakfast and a wonderful experience sleeping on the futons. We slept very well and would stay here again

The first morning other guests had a very loud conversation up from 7am

The owner was friendly and told us where to go for dinner. He prepared our breakfast on time so that we could leave for our tour.

The room is slightly small to accommodate 4 adults. We could hear the neighbouring guests talking.

The host, Mr Ki, is very friendly and helpful. Accommodation is basic as expected of hanok stay, but met our needs comfortably. The room is clean and well maintained.

The guesthouse is located in Jeonju Art Village, which in my opinion is a more charming place than the main Hanok Village. The owner was kind enough to let me choose a room from those available - thank you! As a single occupant, I had plenty of space in the room for myself and my luggage. You sleep on a futon, so it's a different experience to a regular bed, but comfortable nonetheless. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but well equipped and with strong, hot water. Breakfast features fresh fruit, baked potatoes, eggs and toast with jam - it's really nice to eat it in the garden area. Drinking water and a fridge are available in the communal kitchen area. There's a bus stop close to the guesthouse, but you can easily walk to sights and restaurants in 10-20 minutes. Recommended!

Absolutely amazing host, facilities, location. Perfect stay and what an amazing cultural experience! Ondol bang - heated floors with greatly kept rooms. Free water (hot and cool), coffee, gpod breakfast.

Mosquito bites even in late november - surprised as it was already past first freeze - although we had a little indian summer

Nothing. Probably our stay was short.

Location a bit far from the Jeonju cultural village.

Lovely shared kitchen, I'm sorry for not taking more advantage of. Very nice healthy breakfast of toast egg and fruit. Big court yard my daughter loved running around in. Convenient parking. There's a primary school next door and at 9am the kids assemble and there and school music was played, it was very faint and you could easily sleep though it just FYI but as a foreigner this really captured me, I remember being a child and doing this kind of school assembly at my primary school in rural Australia. Sometimes I felt like I was staying in the Korea of hundreds of years ago

maybe the garden and landscaping could use some work

Traditional feel and the host was extremely helpful. A very peaceful and cosy place. Breakfast is at 9am everyday and the host kindly lets you know with a knock on your door. Walking distance to everything you’ll need. We really enjoyed our stay!

The environment and facility easy access

Good value. Simple breakfast included. Quiet environment but late risers may have an issue.. cos the school is just behind and they have morning assembly song.

A very basic/rustic place. Rooms have thin walls but considering I didn't hear a family with baby on one side yet talking couple through to the early hours of the morning on the other side, I guess it depends on the guests being considerate. Breakfast is light with some fruit, toast and hard boiled egg. The communal kitchen is always supplied with tea, coffee, hot and chilled water. Gorgeous pottery crockery to use. Washing machine can be used. I chose to sleep on the floor (traditional style) which was comfortable, heated floor and also had air-conditioning. Toiletries are provided. Bathroom is old but clean. (Paper to be placed in bin). Cute garden with seating. Close 5min walk to Hanock Village. The owner is very helpful and speaks a little English :) Based on my choosing to try this traditional style accommodation, I was very happy with my stay.

Close to the hanok village, was a nice experience to stay in a hanok house. The host was nice and helped us book a taxi.

You sleep on the futon beds on the floor-uncomfortable for us There is no place to keep your luggage as the space is small, specially if you have a few of them The shower is at an awkward angle for a tall person, you will have to duck down. Breakfast although was included in the fare, is basic-bread, butter, jam, boiled eggs, fruits

Very traditional and very comfortable cozy rooms. Sleeping on the floor. Floor heating. Very nice and friendly owner.

The owner was super sweet and helpful. Good location and nice quaint building.

The only thing I would suggest for future guests is to bring a bath towel. They only had hand towels, which is a bit awkward after a shower.

Great traditional house. We found the mattress for the floor very comfortable so slept very well. The owner was very friendly and provided a nice little breakfast. Good location just 10 mins walk to the hanok village. Excellent value for money!

Great host, we have received room upgrade

Nothing

It was really nice traditional Korean accomodation, the owner was super nice could speak English well. Rooms were clean and the common room very cozy. Only downside was owner waking us at 9am but that bothered my companions much more than me:)

It's a nice old house where you can live as Korean people. You will sleep on the floor and you will meet one of the best Korean host - who will prepare a Korean breakfast for you. He was very kind, a pleasure to meet such a kind of people. The kitchen is outside and in common with other guest

nothing

Good location, the owner is always helping you in everything, he’s really nice. The place is nice, i really like the little details on it. Recommendable 100%!

Staff is super nice. Futon bed are comfy (no back pain anymore !). Location is walking distance from everything.

Maybe the only thing were the mosquitos in August. But if you put some spray on and are careful about how you manage doors and windows, you’ll be fine :)

Really kind and friendly, the breakfast was delicious and clean. Recommend. If I have a chance next time, I am planning to go to Dowon Guest House here again. Thank you.

What a great host! Takes good care of his guests. Maken wonderful breakfast. His guesthouse is a Hidden gem in the outskirsts of the city.

The breakfast from the host is delicious. The host is very friendly and helpful with any questions you have. I really liked that the location is not in the city center so that it is quiet and peaceful, just like what Hanok stay should be. There is small shared kitchen area for all the guests and that was very useful for take-out meals, late-night snacks, or having some hot drinks.

Spacious room, great toilet (sink near door), very accessible pantry. Huge spread for breakfast, and a beautiful garden to eat it in. Very helpful host, showed me how to use the room's facilities, and pointed out the main attractions using a map.

We loved getting the chance to stay in this traditional style guesthouse. The location in the Artist Village just outside of the Historic Hanok village (an easy 10 minute) walk away was perfect. The room was very cosy and clean and having the garden to relax in was lovely. We also especially loved the pottery available to for guests to use for breakfast. Our host could not have done more for us and it was a very easy and pleasant stay. We would recommend this to anyone.

Nothing

location. close to the city’s main attractions; and, at the same time, in a quiet district.

cobwebs and dust everywhere, someone’s used towels and loofah in the bathroom.. smelly and tattered bedsheets.. the door doesn’t get locked from the inside overnight

The owner was very kind from the start, explained us everything and where to go in the city. We got a room upgrade with was a really nice touch. The room itself was simple but we had everything we needed. There was A/C and floor heating as well. The futon was comfortable, even more comfortable than a real bed. We had a good night sleep. There was music coming from outside in the morning but it wasn't a tragedy. Breakfast started at 9am so the kids and the music didn't bother us at all. Breakfast was also simple but really good, especially with the strawberries. Overall it was a great stay and would come back any time in the future.

Nothing.

The best guest you could ask for. He took his time to explain everything as soon as I got there with a smile, he remembered my name for the whole stay and prepared such an amazing breakfast everyday with fresh fruit picked from the local market. The place is lovely, right in the center of the arts district, and 10 minutes away from the hanok village. Everything was clean, and the space feels paceful and relaxing. Would recommend to anyone going to Jeonju 100%

The host was very generous and made us great breakfast with homemade strawberry jam. The facility was clean, mostly quiet, and in a great location. We were the only residence in that night. He kept our luggage while we waited for our train until the evening, and offered to order us a taxi to the train station.

When going to a hanok stay, be aware it is less comfortable than a bed. We ordered the bigger room, which had 2 futon beds, and it was comfortable for us. We didn't ask for an extra futon bed, but I'm sure the owner would give us one extra if we asked. We also didn't notice that the floor heating was on (which is on us) and was really hot throughout the night. Luckely, the AC worked great. There is a school right next to the facility, and in the early morning hours, they put on some music for the kids. Didn't disturb us too much, but nice to know.

lovely stay, with atmosphere, very clean and comfortable

breakfast could be better, but overall a great stay

I like that it provided the traditional Hanok experience. Also appreciated the helpfulness of owner in booking our cabs when we needed it. Breakfast was good and abundant too.

I guess the bathroom situation could be better. Because the shower area was with lavatory and toilet area, it was difficult to navigate in a sense. It would have been better if shower was separate.

It was so cute! And our host was very nice and helpful

nothing

The owner speaks little English and is very nice and helpful. He prepares breakfast at 9 which includes fresh cut fruit, bread, jam, cooled sweet potatoes . . Very delicious! The bathroom has no separate shower so after taking a shower the bathroom is flossed, bit it's fine. The Hanok and the room are gorgeous and the ondo floor heating works like a charm. Absolutely amazing !

KOREAN STYLE SLEEPING

Dowon Gesthouse is a great place to stay. The host is beyond kind and attentive. The tourist places are nearby and Jeonju can be easily explored. Breakfast is awesome! We are definitely coming back in the future. :)

None

We were very lucky to be given a room upgrade on arrival. The host is friendly and provides a lovely breakfast. The property is set in a small arts community, with lots of cute shops with hand made wears. It is just across the main road from the Hanok village (five minutes walk), which is picturesque and lovely. It felt like an authentic stay in a Korean guesthouse.

N/A

Cozy, good view, clean and owner are very friendly and helpful.

nice manager who was helpful

all good just have the right expectations

authentic Hanok experience. owner upgraded our room for free. breakfast is good, room temperature is pre-heated and adjustable, water pressure is great, fresh linens and very clean room and surroundings.

none. we had great stay

Excellent location and a very friendly host. From walking distance to every touristic location and good breakfast provided by the host.

The owner is very helpful and friendly. Upon arrival, he will explain how to get to the most interesting places and also give good advice on local food. The breakfast is also nice. The rooms are traditional korean styled so there is not much but all u need. Just be sure it is what you're looking for. Most important for unawared travellers the bathroom including a shower at the sink is really small but that is something you also can find in normal modern hotels. The location is great as you can reach almost everything on foot.

We had to chase some mosquitoes, but you are nowhere protected from that ;-)

the host is very friendly and willing to help !

room is verry clean, Owner super kind 100%, location is good, near bus stop, breakfast is verry good. i Will booking again if i gO tO Joenju. the Owner verry verry help full

Nope

I stayed in this guesthouse for s couple of days. Very easy to reach the place and it's just outside the center, about 200 meters. I booked a double room. Keep in mind that the beds are on the floor. The bathroom does not have a proper shower, so you shower between the toilet and the sink: this could be normal in this type of places. The room very basic and also breakfast was with fruit, 2 boiled eggs, 1 sweet potato and 1 sweet mochi. The owner is very helpful and nice check in. He helped me with taxi and for any other questions I had.

One of the greatest guesthouses of my 1 month stay in Korea. Greatly located in a calm and arty neighborhood, 5 minutes away from the hanok village and the river. Korean simple rooms with efficient ondol, beautiful garden and amazing breakfast you can have in the garden. The owner is super nice and helpful, helped me to buy a train ticket !

Nothing !
