If you have normal hearing like me, DO NOT STAY at this hotel. The noise of the elevators will make you puke. It is like you live next to a train station. It is non-stop during day and night! I only stayed one night and almost got sick from the noise. Breakfast is at low quality as well.

Won't last long
This hotel is very outdated by at least 20 year old furnishings. They needed a deep cleaning The main toilet wouldn’t flush at first seemed like low water pressure because the next morning it flushed
Room is clean and very convenient to access to the street food area.
Good value for the service during the off peak season. Staff are helpful and courteous and the physical environment is spacious and clean. There are a lot of restaurants in the vicinity and a supermarket right across the road where I could get fruits and vegetables and other Chinese food there.
訂房時酒店網卻未能顥示泳池因維修暫停,非常掃興!房間冷氣不足!
This hotel was booked for me by my company and I was looking forward to its 5 star comforts. What a misnomer that is. It got off to a bad start since having traveled for 30 hours, from London to Beijing then a long wait before transferring to a Guangzhou, I was in need of at least a little refreshment and possibly dinner in my hotel? That’s what 5 star would indicate to me. Sadly, the girl behind reception, with the barest minimum of English, informed me there was neither food nor drink available in the hotel that night (9 pm) and over the following days I realised why that might be so: I was one of only a bare handful of guests in this huge hotel. Breakfast next day was vile and certainly nothing available fir Western tastes. Much of the food looked grey and reheated and having not managed dinner I’d been looking forward to a decent ‘5 star’, as bilked, breakfast. Shabby, scruffy, grubby bedrooms badly in need of updating. It doesn’t create a great impression when you walk into the vast reception area to see the escalators are not working! This is NOT 5 star and is certainly not for the International business traveller
The hotel is quite old but accessible to shopping area. Not close to subway station.
went into elvator is quite smelly, the room as well. Won't book again.
Overall is ok clean, the bed sheet and cover are dry. The coach in the room is not clean enough, same the one in the reception. Pillows are not so comfortable.
Fair business hotel cost/value packahe. Dongguan is business city not tourism. Big spar opposite. Food street nearby. Cost/value package good & interner fast compared with normal/similar class hotels in dongguan. Not cleanest but it is ok for cost. If you seek 5* goto shangi-la. This is not 4* but good 3* with 5* internet.
This is a very nice hotel, they have everything you need. And find out if you made reservations a day early in hotel dinner cost will drop much cheaper then walk-in per head.
東莞出張で宿泊しました。フロントの対応、部屋の清潔は良い!ベッドも寝心地良かった!また利用したいです。
Good room, but is not for foreigners. The staff don't speak English... terrible breakfast.
The hotel located in downtown, and it is very convenient to shop or get the food. The room has great space with clean and comfortable conditions.

Nice hotel closed shopping. Arrive night 2.00pm alsoeasy to check in. Nice place.
The hotel building is a little old now, but the room was clean and comfortable. Most of the staff speak English, and they were very helpful. On the morning I was there the breakfast was mediocre, but it improved the next two mornings. There are many shopping plazas in the area, and the usual street markets. I am looking forward to returning to this hotel the next time I visit the Nancheng district of Dongguan.
This hotel was built in 1995 and is considered old. However, the rooms were comfy & the wifi was decent. Breakfast was average & I had to constantly ask for things to be refilled as many of the heated trays would stay empty until you pointed it out. The consolation prize is the location of this hotel. It is opposite an excellent hospital & the BEST (and cheapest) foot massage joint across the road. It's a 5/10min walk to all major food & clothing chains, including supermarkets: Carrefour, Walmart & Spar. It's truly a great area. Under the right management this hotel could be the berries, but unfortunately it's just below bog-standard.
I used to stay in this hotel back in 2003-2004. This use to be THE hotel in Dongguan. It was one of the tallest building in the area at that time. Service used to be excellent. I stayed there on my recent trip there because the place I usually stay - Pullman Forum Hotel (an excellent hotel by the way) was all full. What a mistake. This giant hotel looks like a ghost town now. The grand reception they used to have is reduced to a small desk by the entrance. The attendants could care less. Dark atrium and a not a soul to be found. People smoking on the lobby - looked like a very cheap joint. I was given a smoking room despite of my reservation clearly indicating for a non smoking one. First they said hotel was full (a blatant lie - because I got to see it for myself after staying for two nights that not many people there). Later they reluctantly changed the room. Breakfast was a disaster. What annoyed me the most was that (both morning) there were un cleared tables with plates of half eaten foods everywhere scattered across the room - you could not find a decent table and bus boy was no where to be seen. Food was so bad it stunk. With literally more than 50 hotels that have since sprouted up offering world class service in ultra modern Dongguan - this hotel does not stand a chance - and I don't think they care either. Add to that a sudden reduction of the tourists to what used to be the sin city of China not sure if it will even stay in business from what I saw.
They offered our group a special rate of $98/night. What did I get? It's more what I DIDN'T get. My room was not made up on Saturday - I came back from a day on Virginia City's tourist spots to an unmade bed, no new towels, no new nothing! When I commented, as I checked out, that I felt ripped - they still charged me the full amount and NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME to offer anything! I would not stay here again - EVER!
In the afternoon, after checkout, I returned to the hotel lobby to get on a bus to Hong Kong. I needed to plug my computer into an outlet but because I do not have the appropriate adapter I was unable to. I asked a woman at the concierge who took 15 minutes of her time to help me find an adapter. Eventually she found one with the housekeeping department. This is simply one instance of the helpful attitude that all staff have towards the hotel guests. If your looking for a decent stay and great service this is the place.
First don't get the hotel to arrange a car it will cost 6 times the price of a cab from airport. On check in looks like its going to be okay sadly all pleasure ends at the lift doors - btw lift not always working so prepare to become familiar with fire escape. The hotel is like a ghost hotel with hardly any floors functional - I stayed here a month on business and at no time were at least 4 of the floors in action. The escalators don't even work to the 2nd floor which has its lights out. And often if you go exploring you'll find floors in total darkness. For example top floor restaurant never opened while I was there nor the highly talked about (at hotel) pillow museum. The hotel does not even have a bar and the restaurant closes before 9 pm. It claims to have pool but I defy anyone to be brave enough to swim in this deserted concrete pit..that looks like something out of a 50's horror film. First thing I did was change my room after being shown into a nasty box with neon lights from building exterior continually flashing. My new 'suite' was barely better with its appalling decor, tiny bathroom like something from the cheapest UK B&B and total lack of even basic amenities - like comfy bed, minibar, wifi without router on request, DVD player and portable blowers outside room often made it noisy. The view was non existent over this smog covered city so even looking out of the windows was grim. In fact the only time a did was when the racket from streets below kept me awake. The TV had only a couple of English speaking channels and most of the time these were unavailable. Room service was sporadic - I was delivered blood raw chicken on one attempt to get in room dining, and another time handed ice in a plastic carrier bag. I think if you fancied a Chinese breakfast the food was fine, but if you wanted a western breakfast you'd struggle past toast. Juice undrinkable - like cheap squash. Only half the hotel has mobile phone reception and my in room phone never dialled internationally so I'd have to go to manager's office. Despite claiming to be a five star international hotel, only two staff spoke any English and if neither were on duty then forget any service at all. The only thing that made the hotel even bearable was the relentless friendliness of the staff and the tireless helpfulness of the only English speaking girl in the building. I'm used to travelling internationally and have been to china many times - so I say all of this bearing in mind certain limitations to be expected. And I'd say far worse if I didn't like the staff so much who are only too aware that the hotel fails to meet even lowest expectations. The location wasn't bad for restaurants and at least taxi drivers knew where it was beyond that I'd struggle to say anything more positive... In summary - should have spent less money on glorified reception area, add a roof top bar, employ more Internationally speaking staff, redecorate rooms, improve service, get better tv services, throw out beds, retrain staff, close down pool and start again, lose flashing neon lights near room windows, re think menus, repair escalators and reopen closed off areas and I think they'd have a fairly good 3 star hotel. . .
Location is good, rooms are large & decently appointed, Brekfast room serves a good choice of Chinese & western food, but Coffee is quite possibly the worst i have ever drunk. Wifi is not common in the rooms you need to request a router. My biggest complaint iss that the Gym is never open on time, actually never open. Next Door Silverworld hotel has direct minivan transport to HKG.
I have had my extended share of international five star hotels in China Hyatt, Sofitel, Sheraton to name a few, but when you are given a five star china hotel, the standards pale in comparison to any of the international hotel standards. This hotel was built for more than 10 years and had won various awards previously, but to date, the hotels' amenities and service seems to have stopped and never improved at all. Overall, whether it be staff, buffet food to room quality the silverland has rooms to improve. The location is quite convenient given that it is next to a street dedicated to all kinds of Chinese cuisines but I could imagine how hard it would be for a foreigner to try and understand the menu and the prices given that most of the eateries adjacent the hotel does not cater to foreigners. If anything,a 5-10 minute walk towards the city heart would deem a safer choice, one could find major shopping centers which cater to a more varied crowd ranging from star bucks, fast food like KFC MCds and supermarkets like Wal mart and Carre four. On arriving the hotel the first day, the entire hotel shut down because of an unknown power shortage. lifts, hotel lobby and everything else was in total darkness for at least 20 minutes. Whether they had an explanation or not didn't really matter since it's typical that most would make out a pathetic excuse such as the city is upgrading its power grid and all that. But what concerned me most was that the hotel did not seem to have a back up or supply power to ensure lifts were operating as usual. As we got our cards, we went into our hotel room to find a mere bombardment of pink. I am not a hater of pink but the hotel seems to overemphasize the color and so too were our parents room which had pink as its main theme. The amenities we used were the pool ( a box) and the gym. The pool located at the 5th floor was about 20 meters wide at past and shaped in an awkward diamond shape. The waters were murky and the staff immediately shoved a hose into the pool to drain out the dirty water. (swimmers beware, you must use a cap in order to swim or you will be forced to buy a 15rmb cap on location). The gym if you could call it that has two malfunctioning runners and an all in one work out machine with belts that tilt and stutter as you release. The changing rooms were unlit when we arrived and felt crammed with 3-4 adults already inside it. Staff quality was questionable, it was near 12 at night and I requested both a cork opener and ice. 20 minutes later, the ice arrived but without the cork opener, I called the call center and they explained that since all the restaurants were closed they could do nothing about it. I insisted they try looking for it but to no avail so I had to walk to the nearest convenience store to get it open! In any hotel, I do enjoy a sip of my own vice and listen to a live band. The live band there only operates from 6-9pm and worst of all is , they move. After singing a few songs, the band moves from the lobby cafe to the buffet restaurant on the third floor and then to others. The hotel however do have a nightclub but these clubs are definitely not for a family occasion. Food quality was questionable particularly with the buffet restaurant where certain types of food will stop serving once it is out of stock. There were a considerable amount of people that day and the kitchen served iced frozen salmon sashimi to cater to the crowd. Truth be told, the hotel price was priced at 500-800 rmb per room and the buffet cost 130 rmb which is about 18 USD dollars but when there are newer and more sophisticated hotels nearby do make a better informed decision or else its all a waste of money.
Decent hotel reasonably priced, main advantage is its proximity to a long street of great food. Rooms are decently sized, clean and well-maintained. Apparently due to the great number of Japanese business travellers to this city in the much earlier days of development, they have rooms designed and catered to Japanese. Small differences, such as Japanese sandals and green tea set provided. Overall not too bad, but cannot comment much as we stayed only one night here.
We travelled from Hong Kong to Dongguan for Easter vacation (April 2011) and stayed for 3 nights. We have 2 young children. Arriving at 11.45am, we were allowed to check-in another room when the original room booked by us was not ready. The hotel is right in the middle of Dongguan, with two giant supermarkets (Walmart and Carrefour) within 300 metres (a mere 5 minute walk or, with lots of shopping, a RMB8 taxi trip). The hotel is opposite another supermarket (Spar) and on the major Food Street, with several drug stores and hair-saloons in between. The hotel lobby is big but slightly tire. Apparently, in 2008, the hotel was seeking financial help. So it must have been rescued by some new owners trying to restore this 5-star property, the first in Dongguan City, to its former glory. A major Chinese bank is in the lobby area. The room is of reasonable size. Basic toiletries are provided but, oddly, the hotel also put some better ones in the bathroom for sale. Breakfast buffet is quite good, with a full range of western and Chinese fares. Hot bacon and freshly made fried eggs as well as freshly made noodles, etc are available. Breakfast was not very crowded and we got our made-to-order reasonably quickly. The hotel did not charge our 2 young children extra for breakfast. On day 2, I hurted my ankle. The breakfast staff offered to help me for food. On the last day, our long distance (CTS) bus leaving the hotel for Hong Kong was 3.20pm. The hotel allowed us to check out late at 2.30pm. And we paid a lot less than the published rate for the room! All in all, a good and satisfactory trip. We'll stay at this hotel again when we are next in that area.
