What a fabulous overnight stay, even in December chill. The Hiramatsu is low-key luxurious in the way Japanese culture espouses. Every single aspect is top-notch, yet understated. It is the quietest hotel we have ever stayed in, offering time for reflection and relaxation. The in-room onsen experience is like no other, being able to privately enjoy the healing hot soaks, especially towards the end of a very active trip. Muscle pains literally floated away! Both day ad night pajamas are provided, along with an abundance of toiletries and spa products for use in your room. The room's design (#201) is impeccable, offering a gorgoeus sea view and the opportunity to slide open and close the various doors so you can enjoy your bath with the fresh sea air or within the room. The sumptuous inclusive dinner was a treat, as was breakfast. The fact that the meals are included with the room price made this quite a value in current US dollars. A special thank you to Murato for accompanying us back to the train station on a busy Saturday. And to the chef for his kindness and departure treat. After this experience, we look forwrad to visiting other Hiramatsu's on future trips.
I join the other guests who have praised this resort for the impeccable service, the beautiful locale, the great cuisine, and the large and lovely hot spring rooms. This is basically a first class restaurant with 13 suites attached. The onsen room is Japanese, the evening meal is continental and you have a choice of either western or Japanese meal for breakfast. We were apparently the only westerners on the evening we were there and that was surprising because never has a 150,000 yen per night tariff been cheaper for those paying in dollars or Euros. I think a thousand dollars for two at this facility is a bargain when the two meals alone would cost $500. Highly recommended.
Wonderful service and delicious cuisine
One of the best hotels I have experienced in the world by far. From the food, room and service, every single one of them was flawless. In addition to the private in room onsen and excellent view, this hotel has everything to offer. Thank you to all the staffs in the hotel for making my parents and my experience a special one
Great hotel and very warm service!
Excellent service, facility, and food.
Amazing property, quiet, beautiful ser with an adjoining astonishing french amd japanese cuisine.
The staff and location was on point. The inside was also very modern and luxurious. Highly recommend!
We stayed over weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. This boutique ryokan is perched on hill side secluded location overlooking the bay and Hatsushima Island. Most appreciate the excellent and warm service of manager Arai, Ito who attended us and other staff members. We had an unforgettable culinary journey of French Japanese fusion and traditional Japanese from Chef de Cuisine Miura. Very nicely appointed and spacious room. Watching sun rise and star gazing while in private onzen was blissful. A truly memorable stay. We will surely visit again.
Hospitality and indulgence at Atami. It's almost impossible to fault this establishment. We stayed for 3 nights with our 12-year old daughter and the experience was remarkable and memorable. Pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail; the finesse and passion that goes into food preparation and the curated wine list. We where lucky to spend summer at the start of Hanabi season - brilliant firework display from a vantage point, about 5 minutes drive from the hotel. Transportation; seamlessly arranged, museum tickets and staff are always at hand with useful tips from the best sushi downtown to the scenic beaches nearby. The only thing I would recommend is for the hotel to offer pick up service from train station. Otherwise, we left with beautiful memories and a bag full of freshly baked goodies and jam. Would love to return one day or try other hiramatsu resorts.
This hotel with good location! Atami is only 45 minutes from Shinagawa! Hotel will arrange atami station pick up for another 10 minutes! I walk to atami castle for 10 minutes! But it seems not many people notice that the best picture taking location is only 20 meter away from the hotel gate! The hotel provide japanese style franch food! Food is good! I like anomalies most! See the picture! They ask our opinion about the food because they want to be good prepare for 2020 Tokyo olimpic!
A million dollar view, property is new and clean. Ms Mayumi Arai good Leadership is a great asset to this 6 stars property The attentiveness of staff made our stay memorable and unforgettable Chef Katsuya Miura prepared us “Michelin Star” dinner every evening. Every dish is uniquely prepared.
Yoshi, who attended to my wife and I, made sure all our needs were made. He went out of his way to address all our needs. Chef de Cuisine Katsuya Miura prepared some wonderful meals for us during our stay. Dining at the hotel was like dining in a 1 Michelin Star restaurant. Rooms were well designed and spacious. And bathroom amenities were first class. Compliments to an excellent team of service staff!
First rate service, attentive staff. Hotel is interesting mixture of west and east. Elevator, modern furniture and some Japanese elements. Luxury rooms with in-room onsen and stunning ocean view. Nice small dining room with nice setup and great view. First class French cuisine with local ingredients. I know that resort is run by French restaurant but I would prefer more Japanese style cuisine. Definitely excellent first class hotel. You just have to decide what you are looking for - modern hotel or traditional ryokan.
The quality of service is definitely first rated. The staff is very attentive from the moment you checked in, when you exit from the elevator, at meals etc. The meals are also excellent. If you have any allergies, you can tell the hotel in advance and they will alter the menu for you.
Great food. Great service.
This was our first stop in Japan and first onsen for that matter. Only a 40 minute train ride from Tokyo, choosing this hotel in Atami was the perfect way to spoil ourselves after the long trip. Our wonderful experience began arrival, as the concierge was helpful in arranging pick up from the station. It is clear that deliberate thought has gone into every detail of the guests' stay at this luxury property. Among the highlights were the incredibly considerate staff, the in-room onsen and spectacular view...and of course the food. We spent two nights at the hotel and while we ventured into the town to explore our first Japanese city - we ultimately spent most of the stay in Atami at the hotel. Can't wait to explore more Hiramatsu properties!
The private onsen tub in the room is too small and too shallow. Wooden tub is much more comfortable bith visually and physically.
This hotel provides exceptional service. The room amenities are top notch. Even the toilet bowl is very advanced with auto opening. The view from room is magnificent. Hot springs is maintained at a nice temperature of 42.
If there really were such a thing as six-star hotels, they would look something like the Hiramatsu Atami – elegant service that anticipates without being overbearing or stuffy, luxurious rooms with unique design, stunning ocean views and fine dining with high execution. A small, boutique, design-focused hotel situated on an isolated bluff overlooking the ocean, the Hiramatsu blends the best of high-end Japanese hospitality with European elegance in a setting that felt to be a step above 5-star luxury. There are not too many hotels that we have stayed in which so consistently delivers across every element of a stay, but the Hiramatsu does it. The room, the service, the dining and the setting were all exquisite. The service was a perfect blend of elegance, anticipation and comfort. We really never had to ask for anything and it seemed like every moment and detail of our stay had been anticipated. From the greeting outside when our taxi rolled into the property, to check-in conducted in a dining room, to the way we were guided to our rooms after check-in and meals. Service during meals was formal – servers wore tuxedos – but it never felt overbearing or stuffy. We genuinely felt comfortable and relaxed with the staff acting with a grace that was incredibly guest-focused while maintaining the ambience of the luxury setting. They really were elegance defined. Dinner and breakfast were served by candle-light in a beautiful, almost-rustic, small dining room with beautiful views of the sea and gorgeous wood paneling throughout. It almost felt as if we had found ourselves in a hidden maison in the French countryside. The cuisine was French but with local ingredients and was naturally of very high standard. It brought together the usual Japanese focus on freshness and purity of ingredients with French execution. There were so many courses, it is difficult to describe them all, but I will just mention that the fried egg with truffle oil and foie gras at breakfast was so perfectly executed that I felt it was the best breakfast dish I had ever had. Each of the rooms comes with private hotspring bath and beautiful ocean views. The rooms are large and had a unique layout with the toilet and closet first upon entry, then bedroom, then large open bathroom with shower, bath and his/hers sinks which leads out to the terrace. The décor was bold and unique and the room was well thought out with excellent amenities. We particularly noted the Bulgari toiletries and the thoughtful separate sinks which could double as vanities. The bathroom is connected to the terrace by large sliding glass doors, so you can enjoy the hotspring bath in the open-air with unobstructed ocean views. Of course, all of this comes at a price and the room rate (including dinner and breakfast) was just north of US$1,200/night. But for that you get an entire experience well beyond just a hotel room including a spectacular setting, exquisite fine dining, unique décor and gorgeous views. One final grace note came at check-out when the chef de cuisine came to see us off. He had prepared for us a little care package of baked goods to see us off on our long journey home – a thoughtful, humble touch that perfectly summed up the spirit of the Hiramatsu Atami.
It was a delightful surprise to have the experience something similar to ones at Aman, GHM, and other global players at Atami, a traditional Japanese hot spring destination which has been known as a bit run-down place. The room with a hot spring bathtub was perfectly appointed, very comfy, and easy to use. Since this resort is run by Tokyo’s one of top-notch French restaurants, their dinner and breakfast were something that can live up to their reputation. (Even croissants they gave us as a souvenir upon our check out was pretty perfect- something you couldn’t expect in Atami before.) Some highend resorts and inns in Japan don’t welcome kids but Hiramatsu is different and we appreciated their attentive care (especially by their okami, female inn master, Mayumi-san) even for our 5yo. I usually don’t write a review but I had to because I was so glad to have this level of experience at a place just 50 minutes away from Tokyo Station. We will definitely come back.
I'm a middle class person, so this trip as my sister's treat. It's too expensive for someone like me to stay at this beautiful and quiet place. But you do get what you pay for. Their service was excellent. French dinner was amazing---it took us three hours to finish, exactly like how much time should be taken to enjoy a great full course French meal. They don't play any background music, so it's just guests having quiet conversations. Our corner suite on the second floor was very spacious. They provide comfortable PJ and room clothes. Amenities were nice, but I wish they had more stuff that are catered to female guests, such as cleansing wipes, body lotion, etc. Refrigerator in the room was filled with delicious 100% natural juices imported from France. You can help yourself to those. My sister and I were too full to have a wide selection of imported cheese after dinner, but they brought us a little bit of all cheese they had later to our room. We enjoyed munching on them while relaxing. If you want the first class "omotemashi" (service and care) in Japan and also enjoy private hot spring in your room, this is the place.
THE HIRAMATSU HOTELS & RESORTS ATAMI It was my first visit to Atami hot spring town. During the visit, I stayed at four different hot spring hotels. The HIRAMATSU was the best among them. (All of them are 5 stars.) First of all, their French dinner was excellent. It is French cooking with Japanese cooking technique so-called Fusion. The paring with wine was very good, too. I have experienced a similar French/Japanese dine in Austria. It was at the restaurant at Schloss Fuchs in Fuschlsee-Salzburg. An Austrian chef was trained/experienced in French cooking in Europe and Japanese cooking in Osaka, Japan. I arrived 1.5 hour earlier than check-in time. However, they welcomed me in very warm touch. General manager and all of hotel staff were very present and polite. They are well-trained/educated how to serve many different guests. Hot spring bath was in the room. The temperature and water level were automatically controlled. Very comfortable to be in. The Room layout was well done, too. The bed was very comfortable. I had good sleep. There is nothing I can complain to this hotel. I live USA for 45 years. I remembered the Beauty of Japanese culture. They have their hotels in other Japanese locations but also their own restaurants in Tokyo and Paris.
We chose this hotel as our last one in this trip for our anniversary which proved to be a great choice. We chose a Good corner suite on 2/F with view of Atami sea, private wardrobe room, indoor onsen and terrace. Dinners were great with nice French crossover Japanese food and service was great from food and beverage as well as front office service especially Akino and general manager - Mayumi Arai were outstanding. Inside the hotel there are a lot of art pieces and there are only 12 rooms with ones which are traditional Japanese and ones which are more contemporary like ours. Overall a great hotel with outstanding personal service. We will definitely be back! Thank you!!!
