Great location and good value for money

No air conditioning

A lovely, comfortable Hotel, with a good welcome for cyclists. Breakfast was lovely with a wide selection for marmalade/jam lovers. There is dedicated space in the courtyard for secure storage of bikes. We were greeted on arrival with a nice cold syrop - perfect after our cycle ride. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

It's difficult to criticize this Hotel - they even provided a bicycle pump - if I have to criticize, I would have preferred a a pump with a pressure gauge - but that's just being fussy.

Posizione tranquilla a due passi dal centro di Chinon. Presenza di parcheggio. Bagno ampio.

Rapporto qualità prezzo non idoneo. La stanza era vecchia e sgarruppata: mobili vecchi, muffa in bagno, letti scomodi (oltretutto due singoli invece del matrimoniale richiesto). Atmosfera deprimente, per fortuna era per una notte sola. Eravamo nella dépendance e non nell'edificio principale. Peccato, basterebbe rinnovare un po' e curare meglio i dettagli, perché la location merita.

Propreté et qualité des chambres . Très agréable au centre ville.

Vriendelijke ontvangst. Leuk terras en mooie tuin. Leuk kamertje maar wel zeer klein. Ruim voldoende ontbijt. Eigen afgesloten parking, maar wel klein, voor een zevental auto's

We hadden een piepklein kamertje, te bereiken via een trap. Geen lift aanwezig. We hadden geen water in de douche.

L’accueil, le lieu, la chambre pas très grande mais confortable. Hôtel situé dans le centre-ville donc on peut laisser la voiture sur place. Le parking sécurisé (8 euros) mais il y a un grand parking à proximité si on ne veut pas payer. Le petit -déjeuner : grand choix (avec du fromage de la région) et l’accueil de la dame qui gère les petits-déjeuners.

Peut-être que la chambre est un peu petite mais c’est un détail. A noter également qu’en cas de fortes chaleurs, il n’y a pas de climatisation mais un ventilateur. La chambre était au 1er étage avec un escalier assez étroit donc peu pratique pour des personnes âgées.

This was a very lovely hotel and a very pleasant place to stay for 3 nights in Chinon. Just the best.

Nous avons beaucoup aimé l’accueil et le petit déjeuner ! L’emplacement de l’hôtel était super.

hôtel à taille humaine dans un écrin de verdure, très proche du centre ville. Accueil et service du personnel très sympathique et attentif à nos demandes. La chambre calme et confortable avec une tapisserie en tissu de très bon goût ; la salle de douche et les toilettes en parfait état. Le petit déjeuner servi en salle ou sur la terrasse extérieure est très copieux avec des confitures faites localement. La possibilité de garer notre voiture dans l'enceinte de l'hôtel est très appréciable. Pour notre prochain séjour à Chinon, nous choisirons cet hôtel.

Breakfast food was very nice. I thought it was expensive given that there were very few protein options.

The hotel is beautiful however I didn't like my room. Small window with no view. I would ask for different room next time.

We came during a heat wave (+40 degrees Celsius), unfortunately no AC, room was really hot.

Der Garten war sehr frisch und angenehm für das Frühstück. Frühstück mit frischen, regionalen Produkten und einer grossen Anzahl an selbstgemachte Konfitüren.

8 Euros für den Parkplatz muss nicht sein

Thé traditional style, lovely old furniture in common areas, shaded terrace, lovely garden planting, welcome of host & hostess. Breakfast was exceptional with home made jams, local cheese and meat and selection of breads & pastries. Location in the heart of Chinon perfect.

Nothing. Some might be unhappy that no air conditioning in the very hot weather but the fan in the room was very effective and we enjoyed a good night’s sleep.

Lovely hotel within an easy walk to restaurants. Very comfortable room which was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was pleasant with homemade jams and fresh pastries. There is no AC in the hotel, but the fan that was provided did a good job and keeping the room cool.

Another excellent stay at this lovely hotel. I look forward to returning again very soon. During the current heatwave I recommend one of the ground floor rooms if available. Fortunately the hotel was kind enough to let us change our room to a ground floor room and despite the heat we had a good night's rest. Thank you.

Lovely old building, decorated in a old sympathetic style. The bedroom was of a good size and fitted in with the style - even with sloping floor and creaky floorboards. the breakfast was very good and served outside on the terrace. Location was near enough to the centre of the town to be quiet - but accessible.

We were on the second floor - which normally would have been great - but my wife was struggling climbing the stairs.

This is our third time staying in the Diderot (over 15 years - 10 since last time), great location, lovely little bar, garden is fab, always busy. It is quite dated and old fashioned, not a hotel standard bed or shower, feels more like your grandmother's house, BUT it is perfect and good value. If you are in Chinon, go to Les Annee Trente restaurant, as it is fabulous ....

What a hidden treat. This hotel is so friendly, oozing with character and charm. Central location, quiet, beautiful, lovely courtyard garden. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with so many homemade jams we were spoilt for choice. All round very impressed with our stay there.

Ab 21 Uhr werden alle Tore geschlossen, man kann mit Auto oder Fahrrad nicht mehr ein- oder ausfahren. Die Bar ist dann auch geschlossen.

We have stayed here twice. It is a charming old Hotel within easy walking of the town centre and has private parking (if you get there early enough). It serves a traditional French breakfast with an amazing array of home made jams. Rooms are comfortable, staff are friendly and we would certainly stay there again.

Central location, easy access to restaurants. Two rooms linked together for family. Great parking, best to book.

Bar closes early if you fancy a night cap. I understand, a family run hotel and guests may want to retire early especially if travelling or cycling as many guests were. However the evening was cut a little short.

Das Hotel liegt ruhig und doch sehr zentral. Die Dame an der Rezeption war bei unserer Ankunft die uns bei unserer Ankunft sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Das Frühstück war enttäuschend. Der Fruchtsalat war alt, er hatte einen säuerlichen Geschmack und es gab nur Ziegenkäse.

Het is een sfeervolle accommodatie op loopafstand van het centrum van Chinon. Het personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Door het ontbreken van airconditioning was de kamer erg warm.

Even if you could come here just for the breakfast and the warm welcome, you'd be thrilled!

No lift , but the stairs were wide and straight and the bags were carried upstairs for us.

Everything. The place was beautiful, the owners and staff were delightful. Breakfast was perfect. The home made jams, the coffee, the apple juice, all was top quality, and served to perfection! A place i would revisit always.

Nice hotel in an old house that has been well converted. The location was good and the breakfast exceptional . Best we had on this trip with lots of homemade jams. Parking was a little odd as they lock the gate at 7pm so either your car is in for the night or if you aren't there yet, you have to park it elsewhere.

The bathroom was in the room. The toilet was in its own little cubicle with no sink. You have to walk around the bed to get to the sink/shower room. Very uncomfortable if someone needs to spend some extra time in there, especially as there was no exhaust fan. I dont know what the other rooms were like and the rest of the hotel was great but I wouldnt stay in that particular room again.

Exceptional welcome, we arrived by motorbike and a member of staff came out to us with a block to park on. Stunning gardens and a charming room. The breakfast was nice and very generous. Drinks in the garden terrace was lovely and then only a short walk into beautiful Chinon. Fantastic easy to find location.

Edificacion antigua restaurada, muy comoda, como vivir la experiencia de la Francias antigua pero con las comodidades de hoy. El desatuno muy bueno y muy bien atendido. Los panes exquisitos! Muy bien ubicado en el pueblo, caminando a todas partes, muy central pero a la vez muy tranquilo!

We have stayed here several times over the years and have always received a warm welcome. The location is ideal when breaking a journey through France from Calais. The hotel is a bit quirky, very clean and the breakfasts are really good. We highly recommend!

Tolle Unterkunft mit Fahradparkplatz direkt beim Haus. Wor hatten ein wunderschönes Gartenzimmer. Das Frühstück war sehr gut mit einer tollen Auswahl an selbstgemachten Fruchtkonfituren.

Das Bett war für uns persönlich unbequem und durchgelegen. Leider gab es nur eine Kissenvariante und die war nichts für uns, da die Kissen sehr dick waren.

Ideal location - easy to walk everywhere, but very peaceful. Breakfast was interesting and delicious!

We had a lovely time in Chinon. The tourist office were extremely helpful (and parking is free), and the Chateau, and staff, were super. A brilliant, and evocative castle. We needed a hotel, and asked for Chateau Chenonceaux luxury at cheap chain prices. They sent us to Diderot! Perfect. Great hosts, lovely ambience in our executive grade chalet style room, in the public areas and the gardens; absolutely in the mood. Choette!

Le bâtiment était comme une maison de famille, comme on rêve d'en avoir une! :-) L'accueil a été parfait, la chambre très cosy, le petit déjeuner abondant et délicieux, avec fromages et charcuteries régionales, et toutes ces confitures maison! Et que dire du verre de vin sur la terrasse pleine de fleurs pour se reposer de la visite de la ville? Ah oui, j'oubliais : localisation parfaite pour arpenter Chinon!

A very charming hotel in a fantastic location in Chinon. The gentleman who greeted us when we arrived was friendly and hospitable. The refreshments on the lovely terrace was a great start to our stay. The lady who also greeted us at check in and later during the evening when we had more refreshments on the terrace was exceptionally pleasant and charming, a great asset to such a lovely hotel. I look forward to returning soon.
