Great location and overall pleasant ambience.
Overall a pleasant stay. Rooms were a bit tatty with broken door frame, rickety shower stand, missing bathroom shelf and small uncomfortable bed and, being just above a pub, the music was loud until 11, but peaceful after that.
It's located a 15 drive from the ferry port and is reasonably priced for the area. The staff were very pleasant.
We were on motorcycles with luggage so parking security is important. I may have overlooked something when booking but was disappointed and concerned that 'parking' was in fact a public carpark over the road which was free between 1700 and 0900.
Not much
Needs a good clean from top to bottom for example corridor walls dirty , clump of hair left in shower enclosure
Pleasant helpful staff,good location
Nothing
Easily accessible from the train station. Facilities are basic but all work fine. Surprisingly comfortable mattress and good water pressure in the shower.
The walls are thin so you can hear people walking around, opening doors, etc. The kitchen closes early on a Sunday.
The location is really good for exploring Lewes and has easy Parking in the public car park to the rear.
Sadly the bed was very low and the mattress was a bit too hard for us, but it was clean and very good value and the staff were very nice too. It is a budget accommodation which has to be remembered and I would stay again as it was good value compared to other hotels and pub accommodation.
Great location, nice setting and cozy room
Room was a little small, otherwise, great
Great pub, lovely helpful staff
Nothing
It’s reasonably well located, just away from the main drag. We only stayed one night but it was perfectly adequate for that.
It’s a nice local pub with a decent area outside in summer. Unfortunately the real ale was not in good condition so we had to drink elsewhere!
Location, Lewes it's self, friendly bar staff
No bathroom light last night, bathroom flooring and bathroom panel water damaged, dust cobwebs around radiator, carpet frayed, chandelier light fitting hanging, tiles and shower screen could have been cleaner
Nothing fancy, but a great place to stay in the Cliffes area, close to Harvey’s Brewery, antique shops, Trading Post Coffee, and Bill’s Restaurant. Staff are friendly and professional.

The location and the staff
The room we stayed in cost £97 for the night, so I expected a reasonable standard of cleanliness, maintenance and presentation. Unfortunately, the overall condition of the room was disappointing and gave the impression that it had not been properly cleaned or checked before our arrival. I noticed the following issues: * There was visible dirt and grime along the top of the skirting boards. * The wall mirror had a thick layer of dust along the bottom. * The bathroom door was visibly dirty, particularly around the handle and above it on the white door, where there were clear marks from hands. * There was dirt around the light switch. * The shower head was broken and repeatedly slipped down, meaning the water sprayed everywhere other than onto my body, making it very difficult to use properly. * The hanging rail was covered in dust. * There was dried white residue/liquid on the shelving. * The bedding appeared to be very poor quality, causing the duvet to bunch up into a ball inside the duvet cover. * The table underneath the TV had visible marks and residue from spilled or dried fluids. * Overall, the standard of cleanliness and maintenance was far below what I would expect for a room costing £97 per night. I appreciate that the bed had been made and fresh towels were provided. However, this does not make up for the number of cleanliness and maintenance issues we experienced. For £97 per night, I believe the room should have been thoroughly cleaned, checked and maintained to a much higher standard. I would appreciate this being looked into and an appropriate response regarding our stay.
Staff friendly, good clean room, tea/coffee/kettle in room. Two small bottles water provided plus toiletries. Fan as no air con but old building so as expected. Great beer (Harveys) and pub food in evening.
Continental breakfast, basic but enough to get by. Nearby cafes anyhow if you want cooked breakfast. Mattress on bed not great, feel partner's every move (used to 'no roll together' type but personal choice
Very friendly staff
Just wanted somewhere for a short stay. Pub was busy and opening times good.
The place is a bit dated and could do with a good make over. Breakfast was poor quality food.
Location is excellent for going to the Glyndebourne opera and wandering around lovely Lewis. And its very good value for money.

Bar staff all delightful. Cleaning staff slightly lacking. Layer of dust on bedside table, hair elastics on floor ,(not mine). No bathmat, rectified when asked, but left wet hand towel used as replacement on floor. Would expect dirty cups to be removed daily. Nowhere to hang towels and no shelving either over sink or in shower. Shower track grubby.
As above. However, bar staff more than made up for it!
The room was clean and the shower good. The bedding was very fresh and nice white towels. Breakfast was included a good selection of continental items.
Some of the downstairs and landing could do with some attention. Rather tired.
Very friendly staff, excellent location
Staff were friendly sheets were clean and coffee was good. The town is beautiful and the location provided easy access walking distance to lots of restaurants/shops/ .
It is not a luxury hotel it is a friendly pub at a good price with great access to the town.
Very quiet clean room, it was a very hot night but a tower fan was provided in the room
There was only coffee in the room and I prefer tea. The communal areas are a little tired and breakfast poor. Overall though good value for the money. I would stay again just make sure I had teabags for my morning cuppa
Location in Lewis is good, Very good place to stay for visiting the opera at Glyndebourne

Space to move in the room.
Probably the worst mattress anywhere ever.
La habitación estaba encima del pub. Pero no había ruido y buen sitio para cenar. Aparcamiento en la puerta y se podía ir caminando a todas partes.
Friendly welcome, lovely atmosphere, varied breakfast. Ideal for my stay.
l'esprit pub anglais personnel sympathique emplacement
Great central location. Staff friendly and helpful
The room was very warm and fan provided didn’t really do the job. The mirror situation doesn’t work! It looked like they used to be a mirror over the desk. The one in the bathroom is so far away it was really hard to get contact lenses in!
Le lieu en lui-même, très sympa et vivant , typique de l'Angleterre
Great location, very clean, bedding looked new, lots of extras like coffee machine in room and continental breakfast included. Great value for money!
Great location, nice pub and friendly staff
Beds were uncomfortable - cheap mattresses with little padding over springs.
Absolutely no complaints room was excellent and clean definitely recommend and would stay again
Parking can be an issue if the car park opposite is full The kettle could do with an upgrade I suggest you bring your own 😂
Everything was good
Bed was too narrow and a bit hard
Lovely room. Great location
Staff helpful and friendly. Good choice of food .
Nothing really. Maybe put a hook on bathroom door to hang towel after use??
Just the job
Location
The breakfast was very generous and complimentary - fresh fruit and yogurt as well as standard toast, jam, bakery items and cereals. Location, perfectly central and yet quiet. The room was great, everything to make it a comfortable, convenient stay. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The late check out (11:00) was v much appreciated
perhaps if the tables in the beer garden had been thoroughly cleaned that would have added a little
Very comfortable and friendly pub 👌 breakfast included. What's not too like! 🙌
La position, le cadre .
Un conduit de ventilation traversant la chambre très bruyant . Le petit déjeuner très rudimentaire.
Clean quiet friendly staff
Bed was small, but was sold as small bedroom
Well lasted, friendly and good value
Nothing
Good for brief overnight stay. Description was clear and we got what we were expecting, probably a bit more.
Lovely pub downstairs, very nice room friendly staff.
Läget.
Det är inte ett 4-stjärnigt hotell.
Its position
Very shabby
I fell ill on my third night and was particularly impressed by the kindness and concern extended to me by a member of staff. I was allowed to purchase an extra day and night's stay in my room where I remained in bed all day . As a result I felt much better the following day and was able to travel home. A big Thank-you!
There was nothing I disliked.
Check-in/check-out. Breakfast selection was fine.
The only really item was the size of the shower. Not too easy to manage the confined space. But still managed.
Very convenient and great staff.
Nothing
The location is great for our purpose, parking is chargeable but not expensive. Everything was smooth, room is lovely and has all you need Breakfast was basic but sufficient.
A bit hot with a weak fan provided. Very bouncy mattress.
Convenience of pub to Glyndebourne
Bathroom shelf over sink not level
The room was lovely, I a great location. We were able to get into our room late at night once the pub had closed.
I would have liked an early check in option, but otherwise I can’t fault it
Staff friendly and welcoming, food great. The room was small but adequate.
There was hardly any toilet roll, for our whole stay. Rubbish and a tablet were under bed, found when I dropped something. Bin in bathroom was not clean, and rubbish behind it on floor. Breakfast was fine but dinning room still dirty from night before. When we returned the second evening, bed was not made, coffee cups still dirty but no fresh coffee or milk replenished anyway…
Really lovely location and atmosphere. Friendly staff and lovely rooms.
Confused as to why out of 6 couples with 3 rooms all the prices differed
The central location
The standard of cleanliness, the hot tap not working properly, curtains not covering the window properly, the light coming under the door, two of the four slot toaster not working, poor selection of breakfast items with not enough plates, saucers or teacups, and no visible staff except cleaner.
Chouette endroit. Chambre confortable. Pdj basique mais inclus dans prix
Location great as visiting Glyndebourne opera. Room spotlessly clean. Staff helpful and friendly.
Location. I stay here every year if I can get in.
Location is great, good access to parking close by (public car park), friendly staff. Breakfast basic continental but adequate with a few choices. Fun staying in a pub - easy to meet up with friends there.
I think the pillows were synthetic so a bit uncomfortable on a hot day.
Good location. Helpful staff. Good value for money.
Location
Bed was very uncomfortable
The Dorset is such value for money with a complimentary continental breakfast too. Our room was lovely, well decorated and really clean, it wasn't large but the prefect size for us. Again in the room there were complimentary water and biscuits as well as the normal tea and coffee. The staff were really friendly and the pub atmosphere at dinner was great. We stayed as part of walking the south downs way and it is a little off the trail, but you can walk to the door. Although we got an uber to and from the trail.
Nothing,
Staff were super friendly and food was very good.
Staff very friendly and knowledgeable, had a lovely time.

The room was perfect and quiet
The internet cut out at times. The carpet could have done with a good clean and the shower around the door could have had a better clean but this is only given as positive feedback
Very good value for the price paid. Fully lived ip to my hopes!
Nothing really.
