This is a nice hotel, right in the heart of Louth and close to all the local pubs and restaurants.
The car park is not close to the hotel and it means that if you have a lot of luggage, you have to carry it quite a long way. The other issue is that, on market days, (Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays) you can't drive you car down to the entrance of the hotel because market traders' stalls are set up along the street, so you either have to wait until the market finishes, or park in the car park and carry your luggage to the property. However, having said this, the staff gave us a useful map, to direct us to the car park, with instructions on the walking route from there to the hotel.
Great location. Free car parking close by. Lovely staff, fab breakfast.
Nothing!
All facilities good.Hotel has a lot of old charm character and lots of history but in good order.Great location in a lovely town.
I ordered 2 twin rooms and was given 2 double rooms
The room was nice but a lot of steps with no lift. Location was excellent for our purposes.
We tried to book breakfast for the next day on arrival but were not able to. Breakfast was disappointing. The poached eggs were over cooked and had to be sent back, they came back with no toast. We waiting a while for it despite hardly anyone else being there. The member of staff didn't seem to remember anything we said. She came back and checked the order a couple of times. she also didn't recognise us in the morning despite having checked us in the day before and saying she would see us in the morning.
Pleasent staff. Bathroom of a high standard. Comfortable bed. Good wi-fi - important as Louth appears to be a 5G black spot. Breakfast - staff able to be tailor the menu - thankfully as lent too heavily on full English. Car parking in town car patk offered free of charge. ( But quite a distance away) Right in the centre of Louth plenty of local restaurants and bars. Fridge in room.
Described as de-luxe it wasn't therefore disappointing. Double room - one easy chair. Furniture looked dated and shabby. Noise from micro brewery in yard below. Cooking smells.with window open. In the centre of town which is particular inconvenience on market days as the street is blocked off. It's about £50 anight too expensive.
Spacious Room and large comfy bed. The shower was good and lovely fluffy towels. The room had a fridge which is always a bonus. Lovely central location in nice town of Louth, parking easy in a public car park just around the corner, you give the hotel your registration. The breakfast was excellent, lovely choice of coffees and cooked to order dishes.
All good, if I can say something, A Nespresso machine in our room would beat a kettle.
Very central and quiet especially as I was staying mid week
No make-up mirror. The bed was comfortable but the foot end of the mattress looked higher than the head!
Bedside lights didn’t work. Handle on inside of bathroom broken. No bar after 5pm.
Great location in central Louth. Bed was very comfortable.
Bedside lighting didn’t work, though they were aware and in process of resolving. Bathroom door handle loose. Overall, room was a little ‘tired’. Free car parking is at separate town car park 300 yards away.
Room was spacious and clean with a king size double bed and private bath room.
We paid extra for breakfast. It was expensive and quite poor for the money.
Nothing
Nothing to like, much needed TLC, no facilities or staff after 6pm an that's at the weekend
Lovely staff, great breakfast, right in the centre. Very good 👍
All good
Central location, clean, staff fabulous!!
The room was soo hot, however was the hottest day of the year and they had provided a fan! Perfect hotel
Very central
There’s a lot of stairs inside to each room
The Masons is in a really good location for all Louths amenities, bedrooms are really comfortable & fans in rooms to help with the heat at the moment, friendly staff & excellent breakfast
Ruime kamer locatie mooie omgeving Louth
Nvt
Central location, free parking nearby, comfortable room
Coffe and tea was very strong and cups very small
Location in the heart of Louth town centre and free parking. Comfy bed clean room contactless check in Thanks
Room was a tad small however good value
Perfect position on the town square
Closed early
Central location. Parking easy to find. Room large and clean
No air con
Best thing about the Hotel was its website! It looked classy and that sucked us in! The rooms were an attempt at ‘industrial chic’, but just not cracked it. The bed linen was 100% cotton, which was a bonus, we took the duvet out of the cover- way too hot.
The room was ridiculously hot, if we opened the window, the noise was endless. The fan provided, just circulated the hot air. On the website, it states the food is cooked to order, so we hoped, at least, for a good breakfast. What we received was probably the worst breakfast ever! I ordered packages with bacon and maple syrup, for a change. It came with bananas, no bacon. They took it away and returned the same solid pancakes, with bacon that was so ‘crispy’ it was charred and utterly tasteless. My husband had full English, but left a fair bit, as it was equally disappointing.
Location superb. Clean and comfortable beds. Quiet area. Good value for money
No staff on site overnight. Parking used to be very convenient outside the front of the hotel, now a public car park, although free but a walk from the hotel.
Great location, nice rooms
Load music playing very late into evening from a bar behind the hotel and council out putting up the market up at 6am in the morning so didn’t get much sleep, hotel had no bar facilities for an evening drink, wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a relaxing night away.
Great location , really clean and staff very helpful and friendly . Check in and out made easy by staff . Breakfast was great … really good value overall
Room was lovely but very warm ( weather hot but windows open and fan on ) and could have benefited from water being left in fridge. That said was very clean and bed very comfortable and we have stayed before when weather was cooler with no issue
Nice clean place and staff were very helpful.
Nothing, all good.
The manager was so helpful and allowed us to park our motorbikes on the property. The location was excellent - right in the centre and very close to bars and shops.
Nothing
Location in the center of the town, right next to the bars and weekend market
Right in the center of town, next to the bars and weekend market. Noise from the bar meant keeping doors and windows closed, being in the market square meant having to park 5 minutes away, until Sunday morning after the market had finished.
Good location. Nice building with information about it's extensive history. Staff were friendly. Room was clean.
The hotel felt a little tired in places and could benefit from some maintenance. During our stay, we experienced an issue with the water supply. The cold taps in both the shower and sink would intermittently run hot, and by the second night we couldn't get any cold water at all. We ended up walking around the hotel trying to find somewhere to fill a bottle with cold water or locate a member of staff, but there was no one around and most of the doors were locked. Thankfully, we were able to access a function room where the tap was working properly. The sink tap in our room was also loose and not properly attached, making it awkward to use. Although this isn't the hotel's fault, it's worth mentioning that we were kept awake on both nights by people outside shouting, swearing and being sick. Louth seemed like a very small and quiet town, so this came as quite a surprise. If you're a light sleeper, it's something to be aware of. Breakfast was disappointing. The menu was heavily focused on fried options, which was fine for one morning but felt quite limited for a two-night stay. My partner ordered the "American pancakes" on the second morning, and they were unlike anything we've ever seen—they arrived looking more like thin, burnt biscuits than pancakes. The waitress was lovely and we could hear her dealing with complaints from other guests, so we chose not to add to them, but unfortunately my partner left breakfast still hungry. We paid £250 for two nights and, having travelled extensively, we didn't feel the price reflected the overall quality of the stay. We've stayed in much busier and typically more expensive parts of the country recently and received a noticeably better standard of accommodation and food for a similar price.
Nice bed comfortable the duvet should have been summer weight with a lower tog rating for me. Central location the free car parking is a tad too far for me. The fan was welcomed. Helpful staff.
Breakfast not included in the price. Tea/coffee tray lacking a few biscuits and a bottle of water would have been nice. Areas could have had the paint touched up to keep it pristine.
Excellent location with a good breakfast
Bedroom was very compact size. Bed was uncomfortable Shower fittings did not function well Carpet badly fitting and didn’t look very clean. Fridge cabinet was in poor condition
Lovely hotel right in the middle of town ever
Everything
Nice clean
Location and we were able to access the room earlier. Was helped with luggage to our room.
We stayed before and had a bigger room the room this time was very small and difficult to get round the bed easily, the tv on the wall was a hazard especially in the night as so close to the bottom of the bed. Carpet was not flat and a safety hazard for tripping as it was uneven. Lots of stairs to take your luggage down but we did know there wasn’t a lift .
Good central location.
No staff and no bar in the hotel after 6pm. No carpark at the hotel. Can’t bring the car to the hotel on Wednesday and Friday because of street markets so managing luggage difficult. Pub next door very noisy late at night so difficult to keep the window open to cool the room.
The location was great, bed was very comfortable very clean, loved the shower.
We bought the breakfast which was Okey but the egg was raw unfortunately, but we would stay there again as is a lovely hotel and great location and very clean 😁 xx
Location and large room
Nothing
The room was a good size with an ensuite room with shower. There was tea making facilities and a fridge (very handy) and the bed was comfortable. There was plenty of storage space and a television with a good choice of channels to watch. Very pleased with the room.
A menu for the restaurant in the room would have been handy.
Convenient location, nice room, pleasant atmosphere in dining area
Nothing
Beautiful period building in an excellent location. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast.
How close it was to everything
Nothing
Central Location, spacious room, free parking
No staff on site after 6 pm, no lift, bar and restaurant closed in evening
Room was beautiful, comfy beds, good decor and really nice bathroom. Excellent central location
The room was really hot, although there was a pedestal fan provided
Good reception area. Excellent shower and bathroom area. Good thick towels, two each. Good light weight duvet with excellent pillows. Excellent view from the window. Shampoo, conditioner, soap and hand lotion was excellent. Good side lights each side of the bed. The breakfast was good.
The fan was to small for the size of the room. TV was ok but very limited.
Bed
Non working light, the number of stains, step down to bathroom and very noisy outside at 2.30am!
Location and free parking
No bar. Limited food service.
Nothing
Very clean room and comfortable bed, the food was good also, abd a very good location.
The bedroom on the second floor was unbearably hot, although they did supply fans and we opened the window, they did not help, but on the ground floor it was cool. Needed air conditioners....
Really nice breakfast, bathroom was good and room was clean
It was during the heatwave so room was very warm, although a free standing fan was provided. Quite noisy on Sat night due to local bar (room 6 is very close to it)
Beautiful room Bailey the man in bar/breakfast service was very very good
Way way too hot There was a party right outside our window (very loud but banging tunes)
Staff were nice and room was spacious.
Location next to pub with outside music until after midnight, our room was right above the outdoor music etc, so maybe worse than some other rooms. Bathroom tap handle broken and beside lamp not working, minor things but worth a mention. It was also very hot but we expected this with the current heatwave. They provided a fan and left us with just a sheet as requested.
Beautiful place in Louth
A few stairs to climb

We were travelling with bikes and the staff were just so helpful. Not just in helping with the bikes, but with our bags and the parking. Breakfast was great as was the location.
just a lot of stairs to our room, but that can't be helped in an old building. they did help carry my bag up.
The two rooms were well above expectations and very comfortable. Unfortunately, we had to leave early and were unable to try the breakfast!
Nothing
Location excellent, staff very friendly. Our room was lovely, very spacious & clean had everything you needed
This sounds so trivial would have liked a biscuit on the hostess tray but that’s sad I’m even saying this but that’s the only winge I had just needed to fill the questionnaire box
Room was modern, clean and comfortable Ideal central location in Louth Breakfast was tasty and good value Parking included (a short walk away) Overall, our stay was great value and perfect for what we needed. Would 100% stay again if we're ever back in the area

Only stayed one night ,staff very friendly, room was excellent, clean bed was comfortable, will return
We arrived late at night, and Dave the owner went above and beyond to assist us, as I am disabled and walk very slow! Dave helped as much as he could.
Being in a lower floor room would have been ideal! as I really struggled to get to the top floor. but Dave helped us and waited for me to catch up.
It was very comfortable and clean
No air conditioning. The room was very hot
Staff are always so welcoming breakfast is amazing with a good choice . Location is near to local restaurants pubs and shops .
Honestly nothing not to like .
Hotel is comfortable staff are accommodating. Everything we needed for a over night stay. Have stayed many times at The Mason's.
Spotlessly clean. Smart decor. Friendly & helpful staff. Great location.
Nothing
Good location, nice staff, clean room
The parking.. we had to take the car to a car park which we weren’t expecting and not told that on booking.. didn’t have to pay but it was still a bit of a trek with luggage
The room and location was perfect.
The breakfast was not great. The pancakes had far too much syrup. The poached eggs had too much dressing. The coffee was bad, zero barista skills.
Its location in town
Nothing really.
Nice and clean and comfortable the staff were very nice and helpful
Too far to walk from the carpark
Comfy bed Large room Nice location
Stairs very steep with bags . Noise from bar behind Noise from out side
good breakfast
room needs a little updating

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
8.7/10Rooms repeatedly described as clean and comfortable; however intermittent cold-water supply, a loose sink tap and some areas feeling a little tired/need maintenance reduce the score slightly.
Service
9.5/10Staff and manager repeatedly described as helpful, friendly and efficient at check-in/out; however the absence of staff overnight is a notable drawback.
Location
9.8/10Consistently praised as central and superb for bars, shops and market access; excellent town-centre location, though proximity to bars/market can cause noise.
Room Quality
8.2/10Rooms noted as nice with comfortable beds, but some issues: rooms can be very warm, the sink was loose in one room and the building shows signs of wear in places.
Amenities
7.5/10Limited amenities noted: no hotel bar, parking moved to a public car park a short walk away, no overnight staff presence and limited in-room extras (e.g., water in fridge not always provided).
Value for Money
8/10Many reviews call it good value overall, but at least one stay felt overpriced for the quality and issues experienced, leaving a mixed impression.
Food and Beverage
7.8/10Breakfast described as good value and praised by several guests, but some found choices too fry-focused and one guest reported poor-quality pancakes and limited variety.
Overall Experience
8.5/10Generally positive stay driven by excellent location, friendly staff and cleanliness, balanced by noise from nearby bars/market, occasional maintenance/water issues and limited amenities.
