Reviewed Sep 13, 2026We had the most special time at Ndlovu Lodge and honestly couldn’t have asked for a more memorable safari experience.
From the moment we arrived, everything about the lodge was incredible. The setting was absolutely stunning, with beautiful views overlooking the game reserve and our own private pool where we could relax and take in the surroundings. One of the highlights was having a few visits from the lodge’s very own resident elephant guest! There’s something incredibly special about sitting by the pool and watching an elephant wander past in the distance, it really doesn’t get much more magical than that.
The food was delicious throughout our stay, with different meals prepared for us each day. Every meal felt thoughtful and special, and on our final evening the team went above and beyond by putting on a wonderful BBQ for us, which was the perfect way to end our stay.
The service was exceptional. The entire team were so warm, welcoming and attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. When my luggage was delayed, the team even drove for over an hour to collect it for me. That level of care and hospitality really says everything about the people who work at Ndlovu.
Of course, the game drives were the absolute standout of the stay. We went out on both a morning and evening drive each day and every drive brought something new and exciting. April, our safari guide and driver, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the reserve and its wildlife and made such an effort to ensure we had the best possible experience. His passion and knowledge really shone through, and thanks to him we were able to see an amazing variety of animals, including the Big Five.
Thank you to April, Jan, Peter, Charnell and the rest of the Ndlovu team for making our honeymoon so special! We will be back!

Reviewed Apr 5, 2026Wir haben 4 Nächte in der Ndlovu Safari Lodge verbracht und unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen.
Von unseren beiden Zimmern sowie vom Haupthaus aus hatten wir einen wunderschönen Blick in die Natur, in der regelmäßig Zebras, Kudus, Warzenschweine und sogar Elefanten vorbeizogen.
Besonders hervorzuheben ist aber das außergewöhnliche Personal. Sie haben unseren Aufenthalt unvergesslich gemacht.
Unser Guide April war sehr kompetent und hat sein Wissen über Tiere und Natur mit großer Begeisterung geteilt. Dank seines guten Auges haben wir beeindruckende Tierbeobachtungen gemacht, meistens hat er die Tiere vor allen anderen Rangern als Erster entdeckt.
Jan und Zack haben uns vor Ort rundum aufmerksam betreut. Sie waren herzlich, humorvoll und haben uns jeden Wunsch erfüllt, ohne dabei je aufdringlich zu sein, Einfach großartig.
Kulinarisch wurden wir ebenfalls verwöhnt, wir haben selten so gut gegessen. Vielen Dank an Simon, Peter und das gesamte Team! Auch das Housekeeping war hervorragend.
Wir sind am ersten Tag später angekommen und konnten gegen Aufpreis abgeholt werden! Das hat super geklappt und wir wussten vorher Bescheid.
Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und kommen jederzeit gerne wieder. Absolute Empfehlung!

Reviewed Jan 8, 2026Ndlovu is a stunning property. The facilities are first class. The lavish villas have abundant private indoor and outdoor spaces to relax (and cool off - the plunge pool overlooking the river was a real treat). Fancy a bath? You’ll have to decide between the enormous indoor tub, or the stylish outdoor clawfoot bath. The beds are super comfortable - fans, air-con and mosquito nets ensure a peaceful sleep.
The main lodge spaces are just as inviting. Multiple places to relax (on the deck, watching the ever-entertaining zebras, warthogs, kudu), by the main pool, or inside the lounge.
The staff are exceptional. Our guide, April, was extremely knowledgeable and generous with his expertise. As well as amazing sightings of a huge range of animals, we learned about the properties of various plants, about how the environment was being managed, and various tidbits about animal behaviour. An unbeatable experience.
Timmy managed the food and beverage service at the lodge like a star. Warm and friendly service (and maker of an excellent gin and tonic with a twist!).
Absolute highlight of our trip to South Africa.

Die Speisen sind sensationell, das Personal liebevoll zurückhaltend und zugleich sehr aufmerksam. Großartige Safaris, atemberaubende Natur – ein Ort, für den wir sehr dankbar sind und den wir von Herzen weiterempfehlen.

Reviewed Nov 18, 2025Incredible safari experience at Ndlovu - literally cannot say enough good things about this place! The attention to detail here is incredible. From the moment we were collected from the gate by our ranger April we knew this would be a special experience. Game drives were suburb - we saw the big 5 many times over plus many other animals as well. April is extremely knowledgable and easy to get along with as well. Rooms were huge and gorgeous, the private pool was fabulous. The food was excellent - big shout out to Chef Peter and Chef Simon for keeping us well fed during our stay and making an effort to make delicious vegetarian food for me. Most of all it was the staff who were amazing and special mention of Zach who made us laugh at every meal while maintaining excellent service. Incredible stay and the perfect way to spend our honeymoon!

Reviewed Jun 24, 2025The rooms and service was second to none, absolutely amazing and brilliant! We loved the warm fire in the room as well as every evening relaxing by the outside firepit.
Basically nothing ! But if I was to nit-pick, I would say that the food felt out of place! You expect to eat game meat and more local food at an African game lodge such as kudu or springbok or more local dishes! Weird to have Norwegian salmon and sushi and sole at a game lodge in Limpopo !

Reviewed May 26, 2025Our time at Ndlovu was a magical experience that we will never forget.
It was the team that made our trip truly special. April, our guide, was kind, thoughtful and incredibly knowledgeable - we are so grateful to him for all his efforts to give us the best possible experience. We saw everything we could have hoped for (elephants, lions, rhinos, hippos, etc), including a cheetah kill just metres away. This was a very rare and fantastic sight, and April made sure we were among the first in Welgevonden to see it. Peter’s food was outstanding - every single meal was beautiful, creative and delicious, even for the fussiest member of our party with limited dietary requirements. Our eland was cooked to perfection - we have never eaten so much because it was just so tasty. Zack (“Fish”) was always so friendly and helpful to us. He is a real asset to the Ndlovu team. Sanete is a warm and wonderful host who made us feel cared for and completely at home. She gave Emily a huge hug when she cried as we were leaving.
The lodge itself is beautiful, with a real sense of comfort, style and African luxury. It is small but perfect, and everything from the landscaping to the bathrooms is exquisitely and thoughtfully designed. The rooms were peaceful, private and generously equipped, but less than a minute's walk from the other facilities. Each lodge has its own private pool and decked area, and there is also a lovely shared pool, deck and relaxation spaces for drinks, snacks and games.
It is strange to think that a few days in an unfamiliar place could be a life-changing experience for two rather introverted people, but our stay at Ndlovu opened our eyes to the beauty of the world and the joy of meeting new people. We came home feeling adventurous, peaceful and happy.
We made some wonderful friends, left with some treasured memories and keepsakes, and are planning to come back in January (it can't come soon enough). We’re missing Ndlovu and think of it every day.

Ndlovu Safari Lodge is a magnificent property with staff that live up to that same standard. From the moment we arrived at Welgevonden gate and Phil greeted us with drinks we felt like we were part of the family. The food was immaculate, Chef Peter and his team made sure every meal was one to remember. The rooms were clean and made the trip feel like we were living at a home away from home.

Reviewed Aug 12, 2024Stunning setting along a river bank. The rooms were incredible, a huge private space with your own pool and stunning room with everything you could possibly need. The staff were the amazing, probably the best service and attention to detail from a team of really special people. Special mention to April, Lerato, Zack and the chefs team.
