The cleaning was good, but there was a smell of sweat in the room, it didn't smell good, the bathroom was very small and at least of the room they gave us, they didn't have any photos on the website, the bed was very hard.
It was so bad that we didn’t stay there. We were in an old falling apart little wood house. The room was the size of the bed with low ceiling. The air was stuffy and smell moisture. My husband who has lung cancer could not stay there. In fact, only super drunk people would take that room. At the reception, I was not allowed to see the room, I had to pay first. I did, after seeing the room, I brought back the kee saying we are not staying. They refuse to pay me back.
Chambre très propre, spacieuse et fonctionnelle ! Nous reviendrons
Great staff
Good service at the property and tasty food/breakfast and beer. But quirky room setup, felt quite cramped with not much storage. Shower didn't work well.
Excellent comfortable room, great food, great beer and great staff
A great spot for ski or hiking lovers, with a very convenient location. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator, so the stairs could be a challenge for some. The room view wasn’t anything special—ours looked out onto the fire station—but the service more than made up for it, as it was truly excellent.
I just love staying here. It's such a great place. I have a favorite room which is gorgeous, comfortable, and has a lovely view over the little stream. The food is great and it is so convenient to be able to pop downstairs for breakfast, dinner, and beer. The staff are all super friendly and helpful too.
Très belle chambre, propre au goût du jour, resto très bon,bon service,je recommande cette auberge
the friendly staff went out of their way to welcome us. Clean rooms with good food and drink at the restaurant.
Super
Nous recommandons sur toute la ligne
Great experience.Great breakfast included
Our accommodations were awesome! Auberge Sutton Brouerie was amazing. We will definitely come back!
Clean and beautiful
Good for our stay
This place is fantastic. Check-in was easy, the location is beautiful, and the price is excellent.
Super cool room with a restaurant downstairs. Next to a small river. It was awesome.
The staff were very helpful and cheerful
A very nice, cozy and modern (with charm) Auberge.
My son and I had an excellent stay at the Sutton Brouerie. The room was very nice and well furnished. The bar below was really nice and the staff were lovely. The food was excellent and I really enjoyed trying the various beers that they brew in-house. The only reason that I am not giving a five star review is that he floor on the main floor was concrete, so it was cold on the feet. I would still highly recommend it.
Our reception was warm and welcoming. The limited interaction we had with staff was invariably positive. The building is “tired” and the room itself lacked adequate lighting for reading. There was a small fridge provided and a microwave in the hallway to be shared by all the rooms. Being adjacent to the business district, the location is very convenient. We felt — and feel — ripped off by their twist on “dog friendly”. We greatly appreciate the option however there was an inherent dishonesty in their advertising. When we booked, the “dog friendly” was noted. It was only when I sent a brief note to the establishment confirming that we’d be bringing our small dog did they say that (a) we had to book their largest — and MOST EXPENSIVE — room (rather than the one we had booked AND there would be an additional $25/night dog fee. All-in-all it cost us an additional $75/night extra. When I emailed my dismay they replied, “Them’s the breaks”. By that time it was too late to book elsewhere. Even though the individuals we met were very agreeable, the impression we were left with was distasteful. We will look elsewhere in the future and urge people considering booking here to “be aware”. You would do well to look elsewhere What we received was very poor value for what we paid.
Such a lovely property. Pretty views and a nice bar serving food downstairs.
Always the best!
Excellent stay - the only minor point is that the concrete floor is very cold and the thermostat maxes out at 18C so it's chilly at night
loved the hotel. comfortable and clean.
Cozy room
Really liked the style of this place (well done modern industrial). The food and beers at the brewery were great, nice location also. The room was very clean and spacious.
Great spot!
Great room, food and service.
La chambre était très bien, propre, moderne et tranquille, pas de bruit de la brasserie plus bas. Pas de personnel disponible lors du départ le matin et personnel difficile à atteindre. Très bien situé à Sutton.
Amazjng place. Good for families and people traveling with their dogs. The stuff us very friendly and helpful.
We stayed here after a ski trip to Jay Peak. It was only 35 minutes away. The property was charming. Quite the find! The room had character and super clean. The staff was friendly and fluent in English. Parking was easy as there was a separate parking lot. The town is cute and very walkable, with a grocery store 1/2 mile away. I would definitely return again in the future. While we loved the property and would return, there are 3 items to be aware of: 1. We stayed in room #4, which had the king bed on the 2nd floor and the bath on the first floor, which meant a careful trip down the stairs in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. I had brought a nightlight so this helped. 2. Since there isn't any carpeting or heavy drapes (a plus for allergies), there isn't much sound absorption. Our neighbor was in and out of their room at 6am and it was super loud, to the point that I thought that they had come into our room. 3. Not hotel related, but if you are coming from Jay Peak, be aware that the closest border crossing is only open 8am-4pm.
Very comfortable and relaxing room, beautiful rustic look.
Great little spot. Unique, clean, great food and drink. Super staff. Walking distance to other great food options.
Comfortable.Great location in a cute town. Food is really good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Have to climb with luggage to the second floor, a moderate inconvenience. I’d go back without hesitation.
Loved the auberge room and the beer in the Brasserie! However, I did not enjoy the food. Strange combos on the menu and not tasty. There also need some more healthy options on the menu.
Came up from Vermont for a ski trip with a couple friends. Even though we have lots of ski areas and breweries at home we thought it’d be fun to try an experience across the border. Couldn’t have been more impressed… friendly staff, cool decor, delicious food and drink, and so convenient to be able to sleep in the same building where we were drinking! VT breweries should consider copying this concept. Highly recommend and will return!
Very nice rooms Only issue is the stairs to go to the bedroom 17 in total and no washroom upstairs If you dont mind that its a perfect place
Very comfortable stay and great location. Next time I will book directly with the owners in order to take advantage of some of the packages they offer.
We appreciate that the bath gel, shampoo and conditioner were in large bottles rather than small bottles or grungy containers. Service was very good. Room was a little noisy but it is on street corner property and not really problematic. The owner called me personally to make arrangements to get into our room after hours. Great sleeping arrangement with a loft and downstairs bed. The only problem was that there was just one chair which meant always having to sit on the bed. I recommend that at least one more foldout chair for downstairs and maybe a foldout chair in the loft. All-in-all I would recommend this hotel as I have stayed in it before and always have been satisfied with its location for hiking, restaurants and groceries. And IF you enjoy beer or some good food, the restaurant/brewery on the ground floor is the place to go.
Sutton is charming little town and this was the perfect place to stay. My room was absolutely lovely - beautifully designed, convenient, really nice ensuite, pretty view, and a huge and amazingly comfortable bed. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and it is really convenient to be able to get a meal and a drink downstairs. They even had live jazz, but because it closes early (9pm) it was also very quiet during the night. Loved my stay here and highly recommend it!
We had a lovely stay. The living room and bathroom were on the lower level of Room 3 and the bedroom was up the stairs. Morning espresso was yummy, also. The only thing we couldn’t decipher was the TV, but we didn’t need it… Sutton is a wonderful get away location!
Sutton is a very nice town and the ''Auberge'' is located in the nicest area just beside a beautiful small river. The family room is large, perferct for 4! Bon ratio qualité/prix
Excellent stay. Very nice room and very comfortable bed. Perfectly located and pub has great beer.
Excellent staff -- made us feel at home. VERY good food and beer Room setting is perfect for a family of four. We will come back. Thank you everyone we met, especially Anne-Marie!
There is no reception and two steep steps to climb from parking level to rooms. However the rooms are very clean, comfortable and perfect for fit travellers coming to Sutton, Quebec for ski and sports. Situated on the Main Street.
We stayed at Auberge Sutton Brouerie for one night. The room was advertised as: "Located in Sutton, Auberge Sutton Brouerie offers 3-star accommodation with a terrace, a shared lounge and a bar. The property is set 5 km from Mont Sutton. Mediterranean cuisine is served at the restaurant. The rooms include air conditioning, a fridge, a coffee machine, a shower, a hair dryer, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and DVD Player. The inn features certain units with river views, and each room is fitted with a kettle. All rooms have a wardrobe." Our room was not in the big building as shown and advertised in their photos, but we were given a room in a little ‘annex’ next door, across the parking lot. The shower / toilet were down the hall. Kitchen was on the next floor. Our room did not have a kettle, a fridge, a coffee machine, a shower, a TV, and not even a bathroom or shower. We had a bunk bed, a wardrobe and a hairdryer (no mirror in the room). The bathroom and shower were down the hall. The kitchen was on the next floor and was a shared kitchen with the 3 other rooms. The listing clearly states “private kitchen”, which it is now. We never saw a TV. Also no toiletries are offered, except bodywash in the bathroom. We had clean towels and linen. The listing is misleading and falsely advertised. Unfortunately when we arrived at 5pm, the Auberge was fully booked and we couldn’t change rooms. Had we known that there was no bathroom /shower, fridge or TV in the room, we would have booked elsewhere. Check in time was 4pm and checkout time was 10am. No breakfast was available on the property. Our $149 room with all taxes came to $175. Their only saving grace was that it was clean.
When we arrived, we were told that the air conditioning was not working... It turns out that it was already 30 Celcius outside, result, a good 33.5 well felt upstairs without possibility of cooling because only two windows in R-C. No notice except once there telling us that it wasn't that bad. There were three other rooms in the same situation. A call would have allowed us to reassess our options. Result, we went to Cowansville without any apology from the receptionist. Checked although the air conditioning is working if you book
We loved this little inn. 8 rooms, we stayed in #4 i believe which had a king bed with another king bed in an upstairs loft. Super comfortable bed, nicely sized bathroom with good shower, in-room refrig filled with their own brews, coffee maker, Netflix on the TV and good AC. Sutton is the cutest of the Eastern Townships towns that we visited. Lots of small shops and restaurants within 5 min walking distance. I wish we had booked 2 nights. This inn was so much nicer than one we booked at Knowlton. Really cute place and great stay! Dog friendly too. Only downside was that the brewery/restaurant was closed the day we visited, although that probably kept it quieter. Would definitely return!
What a fun stop along our route! Great beers, beautiful location. Will plan another visit!
very cool lofts. Perfect with older kids
Great place to stay and visit...the village was lovely....the only down side was that we arrived on a Sunday night and it was Karaoke night (also no parking at the property but now we know why lol.....lots of fun but we had to wake up very early for work the next day so we did have a little trouble sleeping with the noise.) Nothing major though...would return!
Delightful village, great accommodations and a fantastic micro-brewery.
Check-in is in the middle of the brew pub. Rooms and lodgings have an industrial loft feel: lots of steel and concrete floors. Bed was comfortable and location is quiet overlooking a creek. A bit pricey for the type of property. Lots of restaurants nearby.
Comfortable room. Very quiet, especially once the restaurant downstairs closed. With the window open you can enjoy the sound of the creek just below. Would definitely return here.
Friendly service, attentive to details, enjoyed balcony
Very comfortable modern room, tight but all you need.
The property was very nicely renovated. The rooms were spacious.
La chambre était propre, bien aménagée mais un peu à l’étroit pour 4 personnes. Le personnel est très serviable et amical. L’emplacement est excellent.
Great location. It normal times, pub and the restaurant are definitely a plus. They did not clean the garbage and recycle bins, but could be due to limited staff and Covid. Spacious rooms, but a bit noisy.
Excellent place to stay ! Great food, skiing, comfortable rooms, espresso, brewery on-site, great clothing and fireplace !
Nice place, convenient, charming and nice drinks and food!
Auberge Sutton Brouerie is an eight-room inn situated above a very good restaurant/bar that brews its own beer, offers good food, and occasionally features live music. The room #4 is well designed with two king sized beds on two levels that can each be converted to two singles. The bathroom is modern with a large shower and basin. The WiFi is very good! The beds are comfortable and it is relatively quiet, although the restaurant was closed on account of COVID pandemic. The staff at this Auberge are so welcoming and helpful. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed two days of decent weekday skiing on Mont Sutton. Auberge Sutton Brouerie offers food delivered to the room, so all in all I can highly recommend this “auberge” even during the pandemic as a way to escape the city, appreciate the quiet streets of the village of Sutton, and enjoy some fine skiing!
Everything was perfect throughout our stay. The staff was outstanding, very friendly and attentive. One in particular, Colin, made every part of our experience excellent, from check in and recommendations, to drinks and dining. Plus those great beers!
No soap in the shower
Unique property right in heart of Sutton main street. Great energy with design features, posh pub food, live music and in-house micro-brewery. Room was a little cramped - but then we had winter clothes for a family of four. Will come back during hiking season.
Spent 1 night on a Thursday night which was perfect to enjoy the 2 x 1 at the microbrewery and enjoy just having to walk up the stairs to the room! Room itself is modern and big, with the bed up the stairs. Bed was huge and comfortable but sadly the pillows could be improved. It well sound proof from the brewery so you don't hear the restaurant from the room, but you may hear the other rooms (mostly people going up and down the stairs). There was only one downside: there is a window facing the bed that should be somehow covered. It got really bright as soon as it was sunrise.
The location was perfect for our ski trip to Mont Sutton. The room design was modern and interesting. Amenities offered all we needed. The property had a good system in place to accommodate our late arrival. As a bonus, the live jazz music at the restaurant was excellent!!
Room are clean, could benefits from installing carpets in the room as the floor is concrete. No usb input to charge. Staff is really friendly
Overall very good. The rooms are above the microbrewery restaurant in loft style rooms. Rooms have concrete floors with no carpet and therefore you can sometimes hear tables and chairs being moved from the restaurant. Rooms were very clean and spacious, I will stay here again.
Wonderful modern auberge! My sister and I stayed here as part of a kayak trip with Canoe & Co. nearby and we were blown away by the hotel and the restaurant.. It was a great deal for a weekend that included a 3 course meal with 2 beers! The food is outstanding. The first night we had a share plate, muscles & fries, and 2 cheesecakes and we couldn't finish it. We were allowed to bring the mason jars of cheesecake back to our room though. It was so good, we decided to stay there for dinner the second night. The servers are very knowledgeable, take their recommendations and try out the flights of beers, you wont't be disappointed. We were greeted very warmly upon arrival, check in was as fast as a large chain hotel but certainly more personable. Our room included 2 king beds, one was upstairs in a loft.. it was clean and modern and very comfortable, great for 2 people but roomy enough for a family of 4. I will certainly be back and will recommend to anyone travelling to the Eastern Townships.
It was a very clean room with comfortable beds. However, there was not much space to hang clothings or put luggages on the first floor. And not much space for 4 people to sit and hang out. We did enjoy the restaurant. Food was delicious.
Some odors from the fitchen or wash water from the floor when the pub was close was a little annoying
The room is good. It is very clean. HOWEVER, the restaurant of the hotel is below the average standing, except the craft beer. The food is disgusting, and the hot-dog/burger buns are over cooked(too bitter). We ordered hot-dog and cheese burger, both of them are over cooked. Although the kitchen redo the hot-dog, the flavour is not very good.
It’s above a real brewery!! Yummy beer on tap just steps away. Very quiet. AMAZING beds.
Style of building and restaurant downstairs very convenient
Very nice room very clean good location good stuff very quiet good bier very good supper good location
The property was great we loved everything about. Very convenient and lovely location.
Hotel and restaurant have great ambiance, both with industrial rustic décor - Eastern Townships style. The room was pleasant, beds very comfortable, great soap in the bathroom shower. Restaurant had great food as well. I would re
Wonderful atmosphere, perfect location right on main street, micro brewery and restaurant.
I was skeptical not staying at a name brand hotel, but this place blew my socks off. The restaurant had great food and service. Sitting out of the patio with the large fire pit burning away was great. The rooms were clean and the beds super comfortable. The door locks were slightly difficult to operate and the HVAC controls need some clearer directions. Very nice bathrooms with local artisan soaps. The live music was fun to listen to and did not carry into the rooms (done at 10pm). This is a must stay if in the area.
Beautiful property. Warm welcome by the staff. Room was big and clean.
Great staff! They went above and beyond for us. Perfect location and our meals in the restaurant were excellent as well.
Good beer, all brewed with brettanomyces (sour) yeast. Not a big brett fan but the stout was nice and creamy. Decent cider too. Probably the highlights of the meal. The food overall looked good but was exceedingly bland. We had smoked fish and fried GF zucchini fritters. Very mild, nothing special. The poutine looked great, but was a bland, gooey jumble of no flavor. Not even a dominant flavor of salt ... how can you make poutine so blandjtsnot even a little too salty? Stop here for a beer but look elsewhere for food.
Great location. Fabulous food. Friendly and crackerjack staff!
the room was a little too expensive.
Great room! Perfect location in downtown Sutton. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
The rooms are small, it's a bed and a bathroom. The temperature is set low, so turn up the thermostats (plural) when you get in. The floor is concrete, bring slippers. The sliding barn door to the bathroom will slide closed on it's own. There is no couch, watch TV from the bed. This is not a great place for kids. The back stairway goes down to the open kitchen door, stacking plates is very noisy. Dumpster pick-up was a 5 AM wake-up call. They do not serve breakfast. If you get a "ski do-do ski" package you get a huge breakfast at the ski hill, opens 8AM. The ski resort is 4 km down the road and there are condos, motels, etc along the road for about the same price. Next time I would rent a condo.
What do you say to a brewpub that brews one of the best IPA's(APA) with 85 IBU's and super tasty. With a great menu of the basics Burgers, tartares, ect. with a market to table lunch and dinner special. Thursday night I had Bison slow cooked in its juices with oven roasted brussel sprouts and lyonaise potatoes. My partner has the Mussels and fries. Too bad we went on Thursday because Wednesday is all you can eat Mussel and Fries. The service is attentive no matter how many people might be there. Also note the weekend of the 17th and 24th of February they have a pop up Sugar Shack with a "pimped up" addition of foie gras to the traditional sugar shack/cabane a sucre fare. I've never been disappointed so p[lease try it out.
My husband and I both love this place for lunch or dinner. Everything is homemade and fresh. The pickled veggies on the ploughman are so good. Specials are always interesting, soups made from scratch and delicious. Friday night jazz is our favorite if we can make it up from the states. The wait staff has always made us feel like we are the most important people there. Kombucha on tap and the best beers around.
We had a great stay here. There was some confusion as we arrived but was handled well. Very quiet room.
Great microbrewery located in the heart of sutton. You can try small samples on a tray to find the one you like. Perfect for your first time visit! I had the burger and it was great! Fries are excellent too Friendly staff Live music the night we went.
As many have mentioned, the great breakfast is no longer offered which was an unpleasant surprise when we arrived. We shouldn't have assumed it was but if we'd known, we would have likely stayed elsewhere as there are many great options for couples in Sutton. The price doesn't seem to have been reduced consequently and if you don't need 3 beds, there's not a lot of bang for your buck anymore. Quibbles include the fact that the bathroom garbage was full (and contents, without going into details, were kind of gross!) when we got there and frustratingly, the shower gel dispenser was empty. The binder of local attractions and events provided in the room seems a year out of date as well. When we stayed here a year ago, everything was ship-shape and new so the disappointments that piled up this time around left us feeling like the glass was half empty. On the plus side, they provide a 15% coupon for breakfasts at nearby Le Cafetier which was a charming discovery.
This is a review of the restaurant, not the inn. Nice menu with some Quebecois specialties, and a large collection of beers ("brouerie = brewery). Fresh salads (the vegetable salad was noteworthy) and wonderful steak. We had dinner on the back porch, with a lovely view overlooking a small brook. Some other reviewers complained about service, but we found our server charming (and perfectly bilingual). Reasonably priced.
Restaurant offers great regional food and meals, rooms are very nice and beds more than confortables! Service is excellent, and Sutton is clearly a nice place to spend a summer evening! Would go back anytime!
On our way from Quebec, back to Vermont, we stopped in Sutton, for a quick bite. We all enjoyed our meals and a yummy Sea Buckthorn pie. We hadn't had it before but try it as it has traditional herbal qualities good for us. It was yummy. A good place to stop for a bite to eat in this adorable little town, right over the U.S. border.
