Extremely disappointing – Zero empathy during a crisis "I had a reservation at Salvadonica that I was forced to cancel due to the current war in Israel and massive flight cancellations. Despite being a situation of clear Force Majeure, the hotel management was completely inflexible and refused any request for a refund or a future credit voucher, even after offering to help them re-sell the room. It is deeply disheartening to encounter such a lack of compassion from a business during a humanitarian crisis. While I understand policies, I believe extraordinary circumstances call for basic human decency and flexibility—which this hotel clearly lacks. I strongly advise fellow travelers to be cautious when booking here, as management prioritizes keeping your money over providing fair service under unavoidable, life-altering circumstances."
Very friendly staff. Stunning views! Excellent restaurant on site with breakfast included. Great rooms with plenty of old-world charm. Can't wait to come back!
The location of Salvadonica is so picturesque! We enjoyed the views, the pool, the restaurant, the wine and olive oil tasting and the cooking class and painting class available. You could walk the vineyards and watch a movie under the stars. Luckily, these kept us busy for a while. We didn't realize without a car, we could go nowhere! A taxi would have to come from Florence, so the cost would be prohibitive. I wish we had been informed of this, but I take responsibility since I could have done more research. The rooms were quite adequate and clean, though my room s (#20) bathroom seemed to have a venting problem because the sewer gasses were pretty awful. They had a scented oil in there but that didn't help. I liked the rooms location, so I didn't say anything until check out. They acted surprised which was funny because I've read this in other reviews. I believe only this room was affected. The staff were efficient, but not overly friendly. The chef who gave us our cooking lesson was lovely, though. If you stay here, have a car!! If you have a day off rain, you stay in your room and read a book if you don't
Stunning property, helpful & friendly staff, delicious breakfast. Wine tasting onsite was fun and informative. Would definitely return to this property. Make sure to book dinners, cooking classes and wine tasting head of time. Must have a car for this area, try GDS they delivered us the car right to the property, great service!!
This stay exceeded my expectations! A beautiful location, great food with an excellent breakfast included, and tons of well-planned experiences for the guests. This stay was one of my favorites out of my entire trip
Beautiful setting with delicious food and attentive staff
The property was so tranquil and beautiful! The staff were very friendly. Definitely will comeback!
I can’t say enough about this property and all it has to offer. A wonderfully peaceful escape in the heart of Tuscany. The views are something dreams are made of. The cooking class was lots of fun and definitely a highlight of our stay. The restaurant was simply superb. The food and wine were top notch and the waitstaff were only too eager to make your dining experience something you won’t forget.
The grounds of this resort were beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and responsive leading up to and during our stay. The breakfast, which is included, was great. We stayed two nights and ate at the restaurant on site both evenings.
Breathtakingly beautiful!! Wonderful staff and the food options were impeccable. I felt so well taken care of and relaxed, this a must visit hotel!!
Super lækkert sted kan kun anbefales
What a beautiful and intimate Tuscany treat! I’m thrilled that we chose Salvadonica. All the rooms offer a great deal of privacy with outdoor seating areas. We unwound and relaxed daily at the beautiful pool after touring Tuscany and Florence. The pool overlooks the Tuscan vineyards. We were torn as to whether to stay in Tuscany or Florence. Hands down, we made the right choice by staying here!
Nice and welcoming staff
Wonderful stay! Absolutely beautiful location with the option to do as much or as little as you want. Lots of bookable activities to do (bike riding, hot air balloon rides, cooking class, wine tasting, etc) or just relax and take in the beauty around you! Felt high end, but within a rural secluded location. Room was very large (family room for 2 adults, 2 children) and nice! Bonus...it had its own very large dedicated outdoor patio space for use! Pool was great for the kids, offered poolside service for a small fee and plenty of chairs to lounge and enjoy the scenery! Food was great, but would recommend they expand their menu or have a rotating menu for those staying longer (we stayed 4 nights). Overall, really enjoyed our stay and would happily return or recommend to others!
The room looked nothing like the room I booked and was tiny. The bathroom shower was so small that I barely fit in it. Wifi didn't work in the room either. I definitely would not go there again.
Too expensive and no elevator
The property is clean and has the most breathtaking views. The air is refreshing and floral. The staff is attentive and friendly. We loved the fact that there are only 30 rooms, making for a more intimate experience. The pool is beautiful and the food was delicious. We had a suite, thus our patio was large w/an incredible view. We took advantage of the proximity to the village to go out for dinner a couple times. We visited a couple wineries w/in a 10 minute drive. We also visited Pisa and Florence. We would highly recommend this location and wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future!
Fantastic property and grounds. Beautiful panoramic views and everything you could want in Tuscany while only 20-30 minutes outside of the center of Florence. Staff were excellent. Great restaurant, outdoor movie theater, cooking classes on offer. Highly recommended.
We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Salvadonica! We rented a car in Florence and it was a quick 20 minute drive from the airport. Breathtaking views and such a beautiful property. The service on property is wonderful, too. We booked the picnic, wine tasting and cooking class as part of our stay and all were well worth the price. The picnic was a filling, three course meal with a bottle of wine. The sommelier who hosted our wine tasting was incredibly knowledgable and engaging. Chef Alessia and our cooking class was definitely a highlight of our whole time in Italy. She was fun, a great teacher and we made an incredible meal! If you are going to book any experience at Salvadonia - book that one. Rooms were spacious and the restaurant on property was delicious. We're already dreaming of a day when we can come back!
Lovely stay, the hotel is in a great location and the room/facilities were excellent. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was also top drawer. The included breakfasts was very comprehensive. Highly likely that we'll go back for another stay. Highly recommended, thanks to all the staff.
Perfectly understated luxury. Staff is excellent. Stunning vista and excellent food.
Amazing property that had everything you could ask for! The views around the property were stunning. Cant wait to come back!!
Very relaxing and amazing experience.
A lovely spot on top of a Tuscan hill with great views. The restaurant was very good, excellent breakfast with dinner a little less successful. The pool and pool area is fab with peaceful, amazing views. Overall a very well kept, tranquil place to spend a few days. Only disappointment was our room which despite being a deluxe room had no outside window and was very dark.
Beautiful property with amazing views of Tuscan landcape. Very helpful staff and comfortable accommodations. All sort of room types so commicating directly with the hotel might help you determine what is right for you. Fantastic breakfast in their lovely restaurant with nice outdoor patio seating. Lovely pool as well. Highly recommend! .
This place is absolutely amazing. The staff were all VERY friendly and accommodating. I love the fact this is ran by the whole family, and they make you feel like that the minute you arrive. For my husbands birthday they left us a little welcome dessert and note in our room! The resort is quiet and peaceful, you can hear birds and enjoy nature. The property is so relaxing, and it’s wonderful to have 1 place that does it all….winery, restaurant, olive oil tasting, and hotel all in one. The breakfast was so delicious and fresh, and it offered so much variety for all tastes. We are already planning on our next trip to Italy and we will be staying here again without a doubt. We absolutely LOVED Salvadonica!!!!!!!!
Great property and location. Food was good. Our room, although good, was noisy. We were in room 18 and we could hear every conversation from the adjacent room and they weren’t even talking loudly. I’d visit again, but would avoid this room at all costs.
Rooms are nice Staff is helpful Good restaurant Beautiful location
Beautiful place, we had a rental car, not sure how one would get around without. Nice grounds around facility, Wonderful breakfast options, friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful property good service great lovation
This was a majestically, beautiful property. Absolutely breathtaking.
We absolutely adored Salvadonica, and would come back again in a heartbeat. The accommodations are great, the property is beautiful and the staff are amazing. There is ample parking, you’re fairly close to town and two Coop groceries, yet out in your own personal oasis. The breakfast is outstanding with great variety and a mixture of things you recognize and a few you may not. We had dinner there, and the light lunch, and our only quibble would be that the portions could be a little larger, and maybe not so much on the pricey side. That said the CDN dollar is likely to blame, and that is not their fault. If you’re looking to spend a few days away from it all in Italy and looking for a great place to relax, that’s in the heart of the Chianti region you really couldn’t find a better spot.
Salvadonica is set amongst the stunning hills of Tuscany, nearest the town of San Casciano in Val di Pesa. (Great little village) It is remote, but worth the ride. The grounds are stunning & meticulous. The staff are incredibly accommodating. Vincenzo! The food and wine offerings are truly Tuscan and tasty! Their breakfast is as good as you will find. The rooms are charming & sparking clean - beautiful tile throughout. The agri-hotel is safe. Bring a car, but take a hike down the path to Mercatale as well to visit a little town as well. I give this property and their staff the highest recommendation!
This place was AMAZING!! It made our first trip to Italy that much better!! The property is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous views, the staff were all amazing and the wine and food were fantastic! We will definitely go back!
This has to be one of the nicest hotels I’ve been to. I’m so glad we booked it for two nights. The only thing I didn’t like was their WiFi. I kept getting disconnected and at times it was hard to reconnect.
Beautiful, beautiful senary! Great rooms, great breakfast, great staff and only about 25 minutes from Florence.
Wow what a excellent stay
Property was everything we expected fantastic set up
I recently stayed at Salvadonica Borgo del Chianti, and it was an unforgettable experience. The hotel offers breathtaking views that perfectly capture the charm of the Tuscan countryside. The entire property was super clean, and you can tell that every detail is thoughtfully maintained. One of the highlights of my stay was the amazing restaurant on-site. The food was not only delicious but also showcased the best of local Tuscan flavors, making every meal a treat. Overall, the hotel exudes the full-scale charm of Tuscany, making it the perfect getaway for anyone looking to relax and immerse themselves in the beauty of the region. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience only 40 minutes away from the big city. Loved the atmosphere, loved the room design: very rustic modern style. I’ll definitely recommend my friends to visit your property and I’ll def come back. Grazie for the amazing couple of days
It is magically beautiful property only made better by the beautiful staff they have
Charming and wonderfully relaxed
This was definitely a great place to stay! The staff is extremely friendly and the atmosphere cannot get any better!
Beautiful traditional architecture, staff very welcoming, incredible food and wine, gorgeous views… looking forward to coming back
We absolutely loved this property! My husband & I visited on the tail end our our Italy vacation and were looking for relaxation and character and this offered both! The grounds are gorgeous, picturesque with incredible service. We enjoyed the communal breakfasts, walking throughout the property. The rooms are small, but quaint with plenty of beautiful details. Was a really incredible way to experience the Tuscan way. Restaurant is also delicious. Hope we can find our way back to visit soon!
Staff were very attentive Nice room and great breakfast
Everything was amazing.
The place is heavenly. The staff are wonderful and arrange whatever you want. The rooms are comfortable and rustic. Most of the menu in the restaurant is good - my only recommendation would be for them to make it more simple / homey vs trying to be a fine dining. The wines are great.
Hi, I actually went last June 2023, but TripAdvisor wouldn't let me write a review that old, but in the course of planning a new Italy trip, I had to remember to review Salvadonica. Basically, last year we went there as a family of 4 and we couldn't have been happier. The relaxed but elegant atmosphere, the intimate setting, the impeccable grounds the helpful but not over solicitous staff. Did the wine and olive oil tasting, had a wonderful time, the sommelier is a lovely guy. Kitchen delivered with every meal. We stayed 2 nights, and wished we had booked a third. If you're looking for a laid back, intimate, yet lovely stay, with reasonable rates and delicious food, not corporatized or over done in that way that feels scripted, go here. You will not be disappointed. Our rooms were small but tasteful, but you don't spend time in the rooms. Rented e bikes and had a wonderful afternoon.
Seriously the most unique and beautiful hotel!! The views are breathtaking. Do the wine tasting!! Enjoy the views! We rented a car- we were able to venture out to get snacks at a grocery store and try some local dining.
My husband and I booked this stay with our 3 teenagers while visiting from Canada. We wanted a few days of quiet reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist cities we visited during our trip. This was absolute perfection! It’s a beautiful property with high-end amenities. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and taking in the scenery. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the wine tasting experience. Would highly recommend.
Salvadonica was absolutely beautiful and had all we could have asked for in a relaxing Tuscany vacation. We did the cooking class and particularly loved that experience. Our only complaint or word of wisdom is we were surprised about how many children were there. Most were very respectful and well behaved but that wouldn’t appeal to some. We particularly like kids, so ok with us but I know friends who would be less thrilled with the addition noise and commotion.
Unhelpful staff & in some cases sexist when ordering food & drink at the bar/restaurant (stopping female order to prioritise a man). Overall hotel is well maintained but staff need to be more helpful.
Staff are inconsistent and in some cases rude. Hotel has great potential, but staff need to put the customer first.
Excellent property and location. Breakfast was amazing and the view over the countryside was beautiful.
Insufficient air conditioning. The gentlemen at reception were condescending
place is so beautiful, food great & staff were all kind and accommodating.
We LOVED Salvadonica. My husband and I went October 2019. We then recommended it to friends who went in 2021 with their kids. They loved it too. The setting is lovely in an olive grove and the grounds and accommodations are modern and inviting. The food was delicious from the included breakfast to dinners. And definitely get the vin santo with cookies! Oh...and do the cooking class. One of the favorite experiences we did while visiting Italy. Only regret is that we just should have stayed here longer....sigh.
Our stay here was our favorite part of our Italy trip, we didn’t leave the resort because it has everything you could need for an amazing Tuscan stay. The property and ever resort staff member were absolutely wonderful!! We would absolutely book and come again!
We loved our time at Salvadonica! It was so peaceful and relaxing, a welcomed contrast from our busy and crowded stay in Rome. The restaurant is incredible and the hotel staff was extremely helpful!
Nice environment, clean and well maintained!
The property is amazing, rooms are spacious and immaculate. We ate dinner and breakfast there, and the food and wine were incredible! So many choices for the breakfast buffet. The property was gorgeous, you could walk a few miles from the vineyards down to marked trails through the woods. Wish we had more time to try their wine tasting, cooking class or bike rentals. Would definitely stay here again!
Very nice property and the staff were very helpful
I had only booked a night as I was passing through the area. The property was clean, inviting and quite beautiful, one of the nicest of the trip. In my next trip to the area, I will book again for longer. The breakfast spread was impressive with great service.
It was a lovely village that blends in the new with the old. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I would stay there again!
Great contemporary styled, heated rooms & suites. Very clean. Very comfortable. Best hotel if you are traveling with dogs! We love it here! Restaurant is a great added value. The views are stunning. Just perfect! We would recommend this hotel to people who understand rustic country style Tuscan comfort!
Restaurant on site was great for breakfast but not good for dinner.
This place was AMAZING!! Perfect for a weekend getaway in the country hills of Tuscany! The views and landscape made it all worth it. I wish more dining options were available. But staff was very helpful and greeted me well! 10/10
This hotel has the most amazing stuff. Best view of the Tuscany county side. The food was affordable and the best breakfast I had in Italy.
This place is very basic - not luxury. Not terrible but certainly the worst place we stayed in Italy. (out of 5 hotels/resorts) Just a few thoughts: Beds are on the floor, furniture is cheap (like Walmart plastic lamps), closet is a metal rod in the room, no room service, no ice, breakfast buffet is Ok but not great, restaurant was average at best - we ate there twice and would not go back, service is nonexistent, and pool was not well maintained. Best part of this place was location - we explored all of Chianti region from here, Wine tasting at the hotel was fun - met people from all over the world, and the sunrise hot air ballon ride was great. Only posting to try to help others out - wish someone had told me the website makes it look much nicer than reality.
I am not even sure where to begin my review. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!! We booked this place over 6 months in advance as we were planning my mother in law's 60th birthday for our family of 9 where we booked 3 junior suites. I had been emailing the Salvadonica numerous times prior to my stay for various things and they were extremely prompt in their response and very very helpful in trying to book restaurant reservations, hiring a private driver, recommending wineries nearby and also organizing a cake for a celebratory birthday dinner. The staff was very friendly during breakfast and meals we had on property, especially with our children who were under 5. In terms of the property, saying it is beautiful is an understatement! wow wow wow, the views and the grounds are breathtaking and our rooms were all very nice and clean and spacious. Not to mention the sunset views from the hotel! I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tuscany! marvelous! One of my favorite parts of our 10 day stay in Italy.
If you saw a postcard of Tuscany and imagined what it’s like this place looks like a postcard!! The views are amazing the staff is so helpful. The breakfast and dinners are so good We did an 8 day tour and we were looking for somewhere to relax and do a few day trips it was perfecto. Our carpet in the room was smelly no problem sent in two guys they removed and vacuumed!! I highly recommend Salvadonica
This was our first trip to Tuscany, and wow, it did not disappoint. Safe to say we'll never forget our visit! We had the wine tasting, which was excellent. It was about 3 glasses of wine and an olive oil tasting, and very much about the history of the region told in a very entertaining way. We loved it! The restaurant served us a picnic lunch, which we took out in the grass and watched a gorgeous sunset. I proposed, she said yet, and the restaurant was kind enough to give us a complimentary bottle of champagne and a commemorative leather corkscrew keychain. All the staff was excellent. We're looking forward to returning sometime soon!
As soon as stepped onto the property, I felt like I was in heaven! Views galore of vineyards and green hills. Property is very well maintained, the front desk staff provide a genuine welcoming and high level of customer service. The rooms are impeccable, with nice bedding, pillows, mattress, etc. bathrooms are modern style. The restaurant was great - you will not find a breakfast more superb! Great quality of food and huge variety from pastries, eggs, fruit, yogurt, granola, bacon, local cheese, etc. we loved our stay. Go to the market in the nearby town and grab some fresh break and sandwich fixings. Also I had shared with the staff via email that it was my moms birthday prior to our stay and they offered a cake to purchase to surprise her after dinner-the entire restaurant sang to her and it really made her day!
Very peaceful and quiet
Amazing stay. We did the wine tasting and it was so informative. Also went for a walk with the guide who told us all about the area around the hotel. Lovely place and great staff.
Excellent stay at Salvadonica. Great service, brilliant food and drink, immaculately clean, stunning views and would definitely return!
What an amazing place, the views and sunset are just stunning. The unique layout and how they used the old farm buildings to create this hotel/ resort is neat. The cooking class was an added bonus we enjoyed.
Lovely in every way
Just an amazing hotel. Staff is extremely friendly and directed us to good spots/restaurants. Rooms are just beautiful as is the whole property. They screen old movies at night outside. Highly recommended. one of these hotels you can’t wait to come back to.
We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful property, felt newly renovated but retained that rustic feel of a Tuscan Villa. The grounds are scenic and the daily breakfast is great. The on-site restaurant has wonderful cuisine. Staff are also helpful and friendly. Lots of wineries, great food spots and hilltop villages are within a 30 minute drive. Would stay here again.
Everything was perfect. Great food, clean, amazing staff, i'll be back many time for sure, and will recommend this hotel over and over, thank you for the great time!
This is my third visit to Salvadonica and I love it. I brought my family with this time. We Enjoyed the cooking class and wine tasting and the history of this place.
Salvadonica is a hidden gem right outside Florence. This was our second stay and it was absolutely perfect. The restaurant on site is top notch as well as the service from the receptionists to the wit staff. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back every year!
Salvadonica was one of the highlights of our three week trip to Italy - you can’t beat the beauty and luxury of this sprawling property nestled in the hills of Tuscany. There is plenty to do at the hotel (great food, wine, olive oil tastings, pool, hiking) and it is close to several small towns with their own hidden attractions and picturesque charm. Only a 45 minute drive from Florence, we will definitely be back for a longer stay and to use this as a base to explore more of Tuscany.
Beautiful place! Your eyes will thank you for staying here. Our room was small but cozy. Bed was comfortable, room was clean. The staff were very polite and gave us good recommendations for good places to visit. Overall a beautiful place with very relaxing vibes.
We had a great stay at Salvadonica and would definitely visit there again. The hotel views are breathtaking! The staff were all so friendly, and really went out their way to recommend local wineries and help with transport. The restaurant food was delicious, especially breakfast where there was such a variety and it all tasted so fresh.
Absolutely exceeded our expectations! Breakfast was great, dinner was phenomenal, staff was the best and the view was a postcard.
Fantastic property, with an amazing style and perfect condition. It reflects the picturesque and dreamlike Tuscan scenery around it.
Food
The location in the Tuscan countryside is breathtaking, with picturesque views all over the property. We stayed for 4 nights, relaxing by the pool and exploring the area. You could use it as a base to explore the many wineries in the region too. Food was great, with plenty of options at the on site restaurant as well as an impressive inclusive breakfast. The staff were all lovely, providing exceptional service and going out of their way to help however they could.
Absolutely stunning location with customer service to match.
Beautiful hotel situated in stunning grounds with a lovely restaurant serving delicious food.
Beautiful property on vineyard. We enjoyed walking the property and views outside. The only disappointment we had was in our dinner at the restaurant where we ordered the 1/2 chidken and were told that we would have to wait maybe 25-30 min. For it. When it came—it was terribly small, and tough to chew. We did not eat dinner there again, but breakfast was nice enough.
It was amazing. We loved staying at the Salvadonica and I would stay there again. The dinner was only so-so and breakfast was pretty good. The eggs were sometimes cold but the pastries were delicious. I will recommend staying here for family and friends wanting to go to this area, but dinner should be eaten somewhere else as it was not worth the price.
Such a fabulous location. easy to get to Food was wonderful and Lenny in reception was 1st class. wish we could stayed longer. Must return!
The setting of the property was so beautiful but unfortunately on our first night there was a very loud party that we could clearly hear from our room until past midnight. When we complained, the manager said there was nothing they could do since the party was at a neighboring property. She gave a qualified apology but refused to offer us any discount or compensation for late of sleep our first night. Terrible customer service.
