Przemiły, uczynny, uprzejmy personel witający gości już przy samochodzie. Czystość na najwyższym poziomie. W pokoju/apartamencie wszelkie udogodnienia z jednoczesnym szacunkiem do tradycji. Wygodne łóżka. Relaksująca cisza. Prywatny onsen był wisienką na torcie. Smaczne tradycyjne potrawy, podane w przepięknej oprawie. Każdy posiłek był niesamowitym przeżyciem. Bardzo relaksujące otoczenie. Wieczorne oglądanie gwiazd, szklaneczka sake przy palenisku i spokojny spacer po ryokanie pozostawią miłe wspomnienia. Gorąco polecamy !!

We had a wonderful stay. The property is beautifully nestled in nature, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Both the public and private onsen were exceptional, clean, well maintained, and truly enjoyable. The kaiseki dinner was excelent, with beautifully presented dishes and excellent quality ingredients. The staff is incredibly kind, professional, and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. Their hospitality and attention to detail made our experience even more special. We highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable Japanese onsen experience. Since the ryokan is surrounded by nature, guests should expect to encounter mosquitoes, especially in the evening. However, this is simply part of staying in such a beautiful natural setting and did not detract from our experience. If we could suggest one small improvement, it would be to offer a little more choice on the children’s menu. That said, this is only a minor suggestion and certainly did not affect our overall impression. We highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for an authentic, peaceful, and memorable Japanese onsen experience.

Service and facilities were 5 star -there were multiple private and public onsens outside of your room that can be used 24/7. Service was impeccable. They asked for arrival time and mode, sent a minibus to pick up from the bus stop. There was careful and detailed guide through the facilities to share on the different onsens available. We were shown our room and detailed were given on how they will set up our room when we have our meals. I loved the surprise of being able to star gaze at night. Hosts were knowledgable and even took the trouble to translate to language that I understand. I opt for both breakfast and dinner and the food was a feast to both eyes and stomach. The attention we received and the hospitality of all staff, just to make sure we are comfortable made me feel so at home. Thank you !

The weather wasn't good, so we missed the star gazing.

Es gab viel was uns sehr gefallen hat: z.B. das Onsen (japanisches Thermalbad). Es gibt mehrere Onsen in der Anlage und wir haben immer ein freies Onsen Bad gefunden. Absolutes Highlight war Abends die Sternwarte mit Erklärungen durch den Eigentümer. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt 😋👍.

Das wir nur 2 Nächste da waren. Bei unserer nächsten Japanreise bleiben wir hier eine Woche 😍🥰❣️

While we stayed here it was raining so we just spent all day relaxing at the onsen and it is EXCEPTIONAL. The private onsen option is a big treat and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The setting is idyllic, and it is a great spot to disconnect and relax. The sake tasting is also a wonderful touch!

I'm personally not a huge fan of the futon sleeping on the tatami flooring, but it was as comfortable as I could image. I can't imagine you'd want to stay at a traditional ryokan if you're a sensitive sleeper.

Le logement est assez cher mais ça vaut le coup. Tout le monde était aux petits soins avec nous. La chambre est incroyable, très belle. Le dîner et le petit déjeuner très bons. Le onsen est divisé en plusieurs que l’ont peut privatiser, un public femme intérieur extérieur et la même chose pour les hommes, ouvert 24h/24, une belle expérience !

A dreamy environment of Japanese culture, lifestyle, culinary excellence and onsen bathing. We went full-on and booked an indoor and outdoor onsen bath in a large suite. Beds were made up- Japanese style - whilst we were enjoying a fabulous multi-course dinner. Fireflies, sake around the fire and star-gazing were the icing on the cake. Breakfast was sublime.

Location not ideal in terms of places we wanted to visit in Kumamoto prefecture. A car was useful during our stay.

This onsen is a little slice of heaven. The staff is wonderful and the hotel very cozy. We rented a room that had it's own outdoor bath, which made the experience very pleasant. Would highly recommend this onsen.

Das traditionelle japanische Essen (Halbpension) war eine Augen- und Gaumenweide. Wunderschönes Geschirr und feine Zutaten, die auch westlich gewohnte Mägen gut vertragen (keine Innereien und undefinierte Zutaten). Während des Essens wird im Zimmer der Futon ausgelegt und wieder weggeräumt (japanische Zimmer lassen somit kein Nickerchen am Namittag zu). Das Personal (Familienbetrieb) ist äusserst freundlich und aufmerksam. Sehr schöne kleine Hotelanlage mit diversen Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten z. B. abends am offenes Kamin mit gratis Sake, kleine Bibliothek mit Tisch und Schaukelstuhl, diverse private Onsens...

Schade, für mehr als zwei Nächte darf im Yamashinobu nicht reserviert werden.

Das traditionelle Ryokan besticht durch das Gesamtpaket mit dem ausserordentlich guten und superschön präsentierten und aufwändig gekochten Essen (Abendessen und Frühstück). Sehr nettes und aufmerksames Personal. Während des Essens werden die japanischen Futonbetten bereitgelegt bzw. am Morgen wieder verstaut. Alles ist sehr liebevoll gestaltet. Zudem steht nach dem Essen Sake kostenlos und für die Selbstbedienung in einem offenen Raum mit Feuerstelle zur Verfügung.

The best ryokan we have been to in Japan. The facilities, the service, the staff, the food are exceptional. It is our third stay at Yamashinobu and every stay is getting better. The natural setting is gorgeous. The baths are wonderful. Breakfast and dinner are experiences. The staff is attentive and lovely. We cannot wait to go back again

Located in a nice, quiet area, compound is open and spacious. The service is impeccable, we were received at the car park as well as escorted to our car (it was raining) when we left. We felt very welcomed and pampered. We enjoyed the onsen, especially the outdoor ones. Meals are delicious, very well presented and interesting. Room is clean, comfortable and we slept very well.

Le lieu est incroyable, nous voulions une pause détente au milieu de notre voyage au Japon et nous avons été plus que ravis ! Un lieu calme, très beau, propre, et de très bons repas ! Le personnel était très gentil ! J'y retournerai sans hésiter si je suis de passage au Japon à nouveau !

Experiência espetacular. Onsens incríveis, refeições tradicionais bem gostosas. O céu estava claro, pudemos curtir o enorme telescópio que a hospedagem tem, logo após degustarmos um pouco de saquê após o jantar. A gentileza de todos era encantadora e o conforto do quarto é incrível!! Amamos e adoraria voltar um dia!!!

Both breakfast and dinner are well designed and delicious. The staff were very friendly and resourceful.

Really great onsen, and first night dinner and breakfast was really high quality. There is a good lunch restaurant opposite with soba noodles. The staff I very professional and helpful.

We had a bit odd conversation with the Ryokan before check-in. The room was described with 4 beds and dinner and breakfast included for our two children. But we only got 3 beds and dinner and breakfast for one child, because our other child was 6 years old and if we wanted the 4th bed and dinner and breakfast for the 2nd child we needed to pay in total ~12000 yen more per night. So the description here on Booking does not match their service. But the Ryokan is really good and I would still recommend it.

The best ryokan stay we’ve had in all of our 3 trips in Japan! Service and facilities were 5 star - there were multiple private and public onsens outside of your room that can be used 24/7. The hosts also arranged a small star gazing party in the evening and showed us different planets and constellations through his telescope. It was such an intimate and cozy experience, would highly recommend this ryokan! While the location is not easily accessible by public transport, we hired a rental car from Kumamoto which allowed us to explore the surrounding areas such as Mount Aso, which made for a great experience. The stay included kaiseki dinner and breakfast which highlighted the local produce and delicacies - we really appreciated the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff who went out of their way to make us feel at home.

Serene and peaceful getaway from busy city. It is nicely parked away from kurokawa onsen which was a plus

The setting was quiet and serene. The staff are polite cordial and on top of every need you have. The food was impeccable. Better than most onsens I've stayed at and I've stayed at over 10 throughout Japan. It's traditional and trying to be over the top or something that it isn't. No bells or whistles, but pays attention to the details of hospitality and why we seek out Japanese B&B's in the first place. It was very relaxing, peaceful and a enjoyable stay. Exactly what I look for when I want to disconnect and reset.

Property & Baths: 10/10 - it is beautiful, clean, tranquil, and ideal for relaxing at an onsen. They had a great selection of private, public, and in-room onsen baths to choose from. Food: 10/10 - delicious and balanced with a wide variety of local and seasonal ingredients. Staff & Service: 10/10 - all the staff were really nice and considerate. Most knew some English, which was really helpful. We accidentally forgot one luggage when we departed. They called to inform us so we could turn back to retrieve it. Overall experience was incredible. We would highly recommend this to any friends and family traveling in this area.

A beautiful ryokan nestled in a mountainous region of Kyushu. The facilities and onsen's were fantastic, with the option to use either shared of private baths. The rooms and beds were comfy in our standard double rooms. Breakfast and dinner couldn't come round soon enough as they were delicious every time! The staff were lovely throughout the entire stay, stargazing at night was another highlight.

This ryokan was breathtaking from the first step we took onto the property. Though it is off the main section of Kurokawa Onsen Village, we never felt the need to leave the property. They had many options for indoor/outdoor and public/private baths. Tattoo-friendly. Our family also had baths attached to each room which was an added bonus. Each outdoor onsen was beautifully arranged and a truly relaxing environment. The rooms were also gorgeous, full of warmth and pristine tatami mats, everything was exceptionally crafted. The staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating, even when family members fell ill and could not join for the kaiseki dinner. They prepared an in-room meal and checked in with us to make sure everyone was okay. The provided meals were delicious and reflected the local ingredients of the region. Everyone was fully satisfied after dinner and breakfast.
