Hôtel La Plage, La Grande-Motte

Upon arrival there were only steps up to reception and nobody to help us with our bags. The lift was also very small, I would not recommend the hotel at all for wheelchair access for these reasons. Our room was supposed to be a junior suite but it was quite a small room with a small table and two very cheap, uncomfortable chairs. Sea view was nice though and the canopy over the balcony was great. Dinner was superb but menu small and no room service until 9.30PM. In the morning, the fire alarm went off and we had to go out. After a long time, it was turned off but there was no apology or explanation why it had happened. Overall, the hotel has the feel of a 3 star hotel - but with 5 star food.

It is surprising that this hotel holds a 5-star rating. While the sea views and location are excellent, the overall experience felt dated and basic for the high price point. The arrival experience was underwhelming. The hotel is accessed through a housing estate and the driveway is full of potholes, which doesn’t create the best first impression for what is marketed as a luxury resort. We were charged €20 for overnight parking, despite it being out of season and the hotel being very quiet. This felt disappointing, especially as parking throughout nearby Carnon is free. The lobby itself is dark and lacks character, with more of a corporate hotel feel than a luxury one. Directly next to reception is a glass-panelled room where a corporate conference call and meeting was taking place, which felt slightly odd when checking in. That said, the staff were friendly and kindly upgraded our room, which we appreciated. The 24-hour bar area is also very drab and uninviting, it’s essentially a small hatch rather than a welcoming space to sit and relax. Directly opposite this is another glass-panelled meeting room, again giving the space a very corporate feel rather than the atmosphere you would expect in a marketed 5* seaside hotel. Our room was pleasant overall but dated in places, particularly the wall divider and curtains. The bathroom had been modernised and the shower was excellent, and it was nice that the toilet was separated from the main bathroom. Unfortunately, the room was extremely warm and the air conditioning did not work at all during our stay despite us turning it to the lowest setting. The hotel faces the sun all day so our room was very warm, air conditioning is vital - even in February! During our stay we were shown several rooms as we were considering the hotel for wedding guests. The ground and first floor have been partially renovated, with updated bathrooms and newer flooring, whereas the upper 2 floors appear more dated. If you are booking, I would recommend requesting a room on one of the lower renovated floors. Looking at the exterior balconies, many also need repainting, as visible staining against the cream paint made parts of the building look tired. The pool area is very small and it’s hard to imagine there being enough space if the hotel were full. Guests are encouraged to use the beach, but in season we were told sun loungers cost an additional €20 per person per day, which feels excessive given the already high room rates. Breakfast was a disappointment. It closes at 10am, which feels early for a weekend, and at €27 per person per day the selection was extremely limited. The fruit and salmon looked as though it had been sitting out for some time. While the breakfast room itself was modern and bright, the atmosphere felt rather flat as there were no staff present and no background music. On the positive side, the promenade directly outside the hotel is lovely. There is a well-lit walkway that leads straight into La Grande Motte, making it easy and safe to walk into town for restaurants in the evening. The hotel itself was also peaceful and we slept well. Overall, while the location and views are excellent and the staff were friendly, the hotel does not feel like a true 5-star property. Given the premium pricing, the facilities and overall condition fall short of what you would expect at this level. With some investment and modernisation it could be a very good hotel, but at present it feels overpriced for what is offered.

Loved our stay here. A very 1970’s hotel (as is the whole area) and this has been exploited in the decor giving a very ‘cool’ atmosphere. Our sea view room was comfortable with a fabulous view. Loved the wild rabbits in the garden early morning. Enjoyed the Nespresso machine and the great shower. Nice staff. A sheltered terrace. And just step from the terrace onto the beach and the walkway into town. The hotel is well situated being the last building on the beach to the east of La Grande Motte so well away from the noise of the town centre, yet only a short walk on the beach path to get there. Also just a short walk into the Bois de Boucanet. Had a fabulous dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast was good too. A nice gluten free cake would have been appreciated. A negative: television only offering French tv channels. This is a real miss for a 5 star hotel with an international clientele - not even a news channel in English. Goodness Ibis hotels do better than this!

J'ai aimé l'emplacement idéal, le petit déjeuner et le service voiturier. Je n'ai pas apprécié le service de chambre qui ne respecte pas les consignes, entre sans autorisation et laisse les saletés dans le couloir. Serviettes tachées. Pas d'intimité entre les terrasses des chambres. Aucune attention particulière pour l'accueil d'un petit animal. Loin d'un 5*.

Very nice although I expected a bit more

We stayed at La Plage Hotel for 2 nights. The best part is the beachfront location, but overall it didn’t feel like a 5-star experience. The rooms were fine, but the hotel is clearly understaffed, which led to slow and inconsistent service. Cleanliness was also lacking—lifts and tables were not well maintained. The private beach is small and crowded, so it doesn’t feel exclusive. We only ate once at the Beach restaurant—the food was average, the menu was limited, and several items were already unavailable. The hotel’s main restaurant served good food, but it wasn’t busy and service was so slow that we spent too much of our holiday waiting. On holiday you don’t want to stress about delays, but it felt like we missed out. Having stayed at another nearby 5-star hotel, the difference in quality and service was clear—La Plage falls short of that standard. Great location, but overall the experience was closer to 3-star than 5-star.

We stayed here for three nights as a family of four with two rooms - a suite with huge terrace and sea views and a smaller room with a small balcony. Both rooms were good. We arrived earlier than 4pm check in and left our cases and the receptionist called us to let us know when the rooms were ready. She also offered beach/pool towels while we waited. The team who work there are very professional and friendly, excellent receptionist, car park and housekeeping team. The beach club/bar was good, it is an extra charge but if you don’t want to pay you can sit right next to it on your own deckchairs etc. we paid for loungers and the team working there were friendly and helpful, moving parasols around to create shade. We ate lunch in the beach club bar a couple of times and it was good. There are lots of restaurants about a five min walk away. We never ate in the hotel as had dinner in local restaurants. The hotel has a small pool if you don’t like the beach and is definitely located in the quieter area but everything is a few mins walk away. Only small criticism is I never understood why the aircon wasn’t on in the bar area as it wasn’t very welcoming. Usually you come in from the heat to the cool aircon but it was just very stuffy.

Lovely hotel with great access to warm sea / sandy beach. Very pleasant and accommodating staff and nice choices of food and drinks.

I enjoyed the panoramic view of the sea right from the room. Service is perfect. Food was very delicious. I'd only like to see more vegan/vegetarian options for dinner.

Personnel adorable et très accueillant, très poli et très serviable. C’est extrêmement agréable. Les chambres sont spacieuses, lumineuses, propres, bien équipées. Un vrai bonheur.

Personnel au petit soin, petit déjeuner avec du choix meme salé. Litterie tout confort, tres au calme, avec vue mer. Un séjour vraiment reposant, l hotel a aussi des salons très confortables. Le restaurant que nous avons testé à plusieurs reprises est bon rapport qualité prix parfait, copieux. Nous reviendrons.

De passage dans cet hôtel bien situé en bord de mer mais on arrive dans un quartier pas très accueillant. Problème en chambre , la climatisation ne fonctionne pas à cette époque, plus de 30 Degré en arrivant en chambre, difficile de dormir malgré la fenêtre ouverte, déjà quelques moustiques..... A l'accueil on me dit, oui effectivement désolé vous n'êtes pas le seul. Aucun geste commercial effectué.....

I highly recommend this place. Staff efficient and really kind, room stunning and location is perfect. We really enjoyed our time there, with a little dog. The view is beautiful and you have a nice walk just in front of the hotel which is really pleasant.

Un hôtel avec du personnel très sympathique à vos petits soins pour vous permettre de vous détendre, de vous reposer, d admirer la vue sur mer et de faire de très belles ballades à pieds au départ de l'hôtel. Pour les petits déjeuner, un large choix de produits fait-maisons ou locaux vous permettrons de vous mettre en pleine forme pour la journée. Le restaurant propose aussi d excellents plats!! Pour notre prochain séjour, on utilisera nos vélos électriques pour se promener plus loin et découvrir encore mieux les environs et ne pas utiliser la voiture!! Les pistes cyclables sont très bien adaptées pour cela. Mon épouse a aimé le massage au SPA et j'ai profité du Hammam. Vivement notre prochain séjour! Parfait, on va revenir au plus tôt !!

Glauque à fond l’hiver… rien autour. chambres très mal insonorisées : et quand je le dis : on me dit qu’il n’y a personne au dessus ! alors qu’il y avait de la musique à fond et sûrement un gars qui marchait avec des sabots. Aucun geste commercial pour s’excuser ! personnel du petit dej : au top !

A beautiful hotel with a very friendly and accommodating staff. The smaller but well maintained pool area was a perfect afternoon siesta location and the beach is meters away! The beach bar was closed do to extremely high winds understandably. Our room was exceptional and had the perfect view of the Mediterranean while we sipped local wine and enjoyed our anniversary. 10/10 would recommend and stay again!

Exceptional Hotel Exceptional Location Exceptional Staff and Service Family of 6. Week long stay last week of August 2024. The on beach location within walking distance of so many activities and amenities is just amazing. We had 4 young children ages 9,8,6,6 and the hotel staff were just so pleasant and accommodating of them. This hotel is such a fantastic mix of a 5 star hotel and a home away from home. Jerome, Lucas and Jennifer in the restaurant were particularly nice.

Top class !!!! From the valet parking to the people cleaning the rooms every one was so nice. Friendly helpful and truly wanted to make our day better. Everyone was 👀 ng how they can help us get a better experience never saying this cannot be done because of the rules etc.. to pick some people out.. There was a woman helping us with a black eye she fell with her bike. She was so happy cheerful and sweet for us and our 2 kids ( 12 and 17 ) . Further the kitchen you must eat in the restaurant!!! The chef is amazing 🤩. Open kitchen and the complete staff in the kitchen was so calm and super respectfull to eachother helping eachother etc. Also the waitress and waiter so sweet and friendly interactive. The quality of ingredients is high and the skills of the cheffs is even higher. Creative and so good .. We already loved this place before but since Covid it has become much better than before!!! Thank you all so much!

Outstanding hotel and outstanding service all around. Views are amazing. The balcony outstanding! The meals are top class, the pool beautiful. We are from Australia and the staff were fantastic at communicating with us. Best holiday ever.

Hotel great, staff friendly & helpful, had booked a suit, on arrival given , what I would call a "large room" shower but no bath, asked for a room with bat, Hotel really accommodating, gave me another room , with a partition between bed area & seating area, or a "suit". Restaurant, fine, 7/10, but same menu for dinner every day, (5 nights)

Accueil très sympathique avec un personnel très prévenant. Cadre très agréable. Un regret sur l'absence de spa et de piscine intérieure en accès libre, ce qui devrait être la norme dans ce genre d'établissement. La piscine extérieure étant inutilisable pour cause de météo exécrable, les possibilités sont réduites. Thalasso extérieure à 10 mn overbookée. Bien lire le descriptif avant de réserver.

Seulement 1 nuit ici cause rv pro. Bel hôtel propre et lumineux. C’est un VRAI 5 étoiles (ce n’est hélas pas toujours le cas ailleurs). Personnel jeune, pro, efficace. Boisson de bienvenue, produits de courtoisie offerts… très appréciables. Chambre moderne et cozy avec petit espace extérieur agréable. Wifi ok. Parking payant un peu cher : 20€ la nuit. Pdj pas testé (25€). Sur place resto, bar, en saison bar de plage… jolie piscine . Mer à 30 m … bref, un bel hôtel à retenur pour y revenir avec plaisir !

Great hotel in a great location. Very clean and well presented. Beds very confortable. The food was superb in the restaurant but, a little pricey in the evening. Staff were charming and willing to help but, sometimes a little slow ( especially at the beach bar) due to having to bring things down from the hotel. The beach was clean and safe but the sun bed’s were crammed too close together, fortunately we were at the end of the season and thus had no neighbours at too close a proximity.

Lovely hotel with a beachside cafe on a glorious shallow beach. We checked in very late with no trouble, and valet car service. The main floor rooms facing the beach close to the public lane are noisy in the morning as all the passerbys chat. Very clean and big massive bathtub in the middle of the room with epsom salt pack was a much needed relief from all the driving we’d done that day.

Très bon accueil ! On nous a appelé pour nous informer de la disponibilité de la chambre! (15h au lieu de 16h) En attendant nous étions sur la plage privée ( mais payante) devant l’hôtel ! Nous avons même été surclassé dans une suite ( grande chambre) vue sur mer !

très bel hôtel magnifiquement situé avec accès direct à la plage. Excellent service. Un petit souci avec la connection wifi dans la chambre. Un petit effort pourrait être fait concernant la recharge des véhicules électriques, un peu rudimentaire pour un hôtel de cette classe.

Chambre très petite, un lit de 140cm, des tablettes de nuit minuscules, peu de rangement, mobilier cheap, l’accès à la terrasse minuscule et difficile d’accès pour des personnes à mobilités réduite avec proximité des chambres voisines. Parking > Cher Le positif: vue et proximité de la plage, de la promenade et Personnel agréable Sûrement pas un 5 étoiles, 4 pour l’emplacement et 3 pour le reste Rapport qualité prix excessif

Best location, great beach short walk to shops/bars. Great suite - though A/C struggled, curtains really needed to be left closed, fortunately perfect weather and the sea-view was best appreciated from the balconies.

Kein 5 Sterne Hotel wie man es Erwartet. Check-In war eine Katastrophe. Keinerlei 5 Sterne Standard. Preis-Leistung Stimmt nicht. Kleinstes Frühstück Buffet das ich je gesehen habe. Keinerlei Internationale Auswahl und so gut wie keine Warme Speisen. Ist keine 15€ pro Person Wert. Zimmer sind sehr klein, sobald man einen Großen Koffer hat bekommt man ihn im Zimmer ohne das man Eingeschränkt wird garnicht erst auf. Balkon war voller Spinnweben. Zimmerreinigung sehr miserabel. Sehr große Sprachbarrieren bei den meisten Mitarbeitern. Kein Englisch ! Private Parkplätze direkt am Hotel vorhanden, allerdings würde ich nicht von gesichert reden, da das Einfahrtstor immer offen steht. Allgemein ein Urlaub der mit sehr viel Ärger verbunden war. Hotel zeigt keinerlei 5 Sterne Standards angefangen bei der Sprache bis zum Gepäckservice. Leider war es eine sehr große Enttäuschung. Ich würde das Hotel nicht weiterempfehlen.

Nous avons passé une nuit dans ce très bel hôtel. Notre chambre avait une très belle vue sur la mer. Nous avons donc profité du balcon toute la soirée en y prenant même notre petit déjeuner. L'hôtel est très bien entretenu. C'est avec plaisir que nous y retournerons.

Un peu déçu par cet hotel qui est loin d'être un 5 étoiles. Le personnel du restaurant est accueillant et avenant idem pour le Spa. Mais la qualité n'est pas au rendez-vous pour ce prix et le nombre d'étoiles annoncées

Small 5 stars hotel that, to be honest, has a lot to achieve to offer a proper 5 star stay. I would rather consider it a 4 stars, but far away from being a 5 ones. Despite this prices in pick season are truly of a 5 stars, which is fairly inapproriate. Staff number is to bare minimum. Courtesy is not their best feature. Breakfast, in terms of choice, is sufficient but away from being a 5 star, again. Quality though is good. Rooms are pretty small but the horizon ones and suites have a beautiful seafront view. The decor is nice and cosy. Overall fairly recommended for a couple, but you go there mainly for the quiteness and peaceful situation especially not in pick seasons. To the hotel: please work on staff training and courtesy. This needs to be appointed. And increase the number in order to give proper 5 star service. Being a 5 star hotel is about service ... customers they need to feel pampered and taken care.

Super Lage, direkt am Strand. Unbedingt ein Deluxe Zimmer mit Meersicht buchen. Das hat einen schönen Balkon mit fantastischen Blick. Leider spricht nicht alles Personal (an der Rezeption und im Restaurant) englisch und das im 5 Sterne Hotel. Auch die Sauberkeit im Zimmer könnte besser sein. Z.B. In der Dusche hatte es Schimmel in den Fugen, der helle Spannteppich im Zimmer war mit undefinierbaren Flecken übersät ect.

Hotel bien situé avec superbe vue mer. Pas mal de finitions à revoir dans les chambres ( rideau déchiré, taches dans les draps, joins noirs dans la douche) 4 étoiles est plus proche de la réalité

They advertise 2 resturants but no one off them open ... and also they advertise a spa with hamam ... but not there ...and NO rooms service . only a chees plate .... not a 5 str hotel .more like 3------sorry ...

Good location- by the beach. Should not be rated at 5 stars- should be 3 stars.

Hotel was ok but lacked atmosphere. The staff were very inefficient and slow. We ate breakfast but the cooked wasn’t great quality.

Probably more 4 star than 5 in terms of amenities. No reception staff when we arrived and restaurant was deserted.
