Very poor sound insulation. If you stay in room 9 and want to sleep before 11.30 pm forget about it- the noise from the pub underneath is very loud. Also from 07.00am very loud music coming from what I presume is the kitchen. The bed was comfortable but a very narrow double bed. Not worth the price of the room to be honest

Unfortunately they didn't have any gluten free bread for breakfast, even though I had requested it beforehand! However they did get some in ready for the next day so very accommodating!

Reviewed Jul 12, 2026The restaurant was a bustling place with good food and friendly service. The food was excellent and the menu offered lots of choice. We ate in the restaurant all three nights of our stay which perhaps give the best reflection of how we enjoyed our stay.
My wife is disabled so the three short flights of stairs were a challenge. That said, we were aware of the stairs at the time of booking, and my wife coped admirably.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Andy and his team were great - my only comment is the fact that the room didn't have air conditioning (I knew that when booking) - I know that hasn't been an issue perhaps in the past, however things are changing. Yes, there was a fan supplied, and it helped marginally, but a better nights sleep may have eventuated if the room had AC. Other than that it's a good place - good people, good food, good location, good vibe. Great place to stay - I'd stay again.

However, once we went up to our room, things were quiet and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was great too. Easy bus ride into Liverpool.

I requested a shower in the ensuite and there was a marvellous power shower. Everything was really clean. The staff were really professional and helpful.

Reviewed Mar 23, 2026Booking in was very easy and we were early arrivals, but still able to go to our room. The breakfast menu was good. The room was spacious, had character and it was quiet.
Certain parts of the accommodation could be freshened up. Being elderly, I found the shower very difficult to navigate. My poached eggs were a bit overdone at breakfast and my wife's bacon was not crispy enough although she admits she didn't request it to be prepared that way.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026Plenty of parking. Check in was easy and help with bags was much appreciated. The service for dinner was excellent and we both enjoyed our meal. Although we checked out at 9:30 the 11 check out time meant that we never felt under pressure.
If I'm being really picky there was a tea stain on the skirting board near the door. You could hear noise from the bar below until 11pm but this wasn't excessive. The milk didn't get replaced for our second night but didn't prove a problem.

We stayed in Room 8 and the TV was overhanging the wall by the bathroom and had the potential to bang your head on the corner of the TV - had to put a towel on the corner of it to avoid that happening.

We would have liked to have been told there was roof works being carried out above our room. They were working there when we arrived and also started at 9am on Sunday. It would have been good if the staff had at least pre warned or apologise for any inconvenience
