Reviewed Aug 11, 2026Great distance and location if you need to visit the university. The staff was also helpful and friendly when you needed assistance, and I appreciated the daily room cleaning.
I am very sensitive to cleanliness; although the room was spotless and very clean, I was a bit disappointed with the bedding. The throw over the bed had many dirty stains, and the bedding itself looked as if it had been in use for many years and had thinned out, making it seem less like crisp white linen than expected. But other than that, they will be on speed dial whenever I visit my son in Potch.

Unfortunately the bathtub couldn’t keep any water, which I booked specifically for kids. We paid more to stay here just to wake up to NO warm water the next morning and we couldn’t use the bath. It’s also next to a VERY dodgy area in Potchefstroom.

Reviewed Dec 28, 2025We stayed at this guest house for one night. The place itself is very beautiful, clean, and well kept. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable on arrival.
Unfortunately, there were a few issues that affected our stay. There was a lot of noise outside our room from other guests, which made it difficult to rest. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable and really needs to be replaced. One of the biggest concerns was the pillow — it had a horrendous smell. I initially thought it was just the pillowcase, but after removing it, I noticed the pillow itself was very old, dirty, and smelled strongly like cat urine. This was very unpleasant. Additionally, the bathroom drains smelled so bad that we had to keep the bathroom door closed the entire time. I truly believe this guest house has great potential, but there are some important improvements that need to be made, especially regarding bedding, hygiene, and noise control.
