An absolute must place to stay!!!!!This is a beautiful property with a fabulous staff and food! We had the Luxury tent with a pool! We loved it!!! It was smaller than a room, but very doable. We loved the privacy! Opening the wide tent doors in the morning to the view and sounds of nature was an unforgettable experience.

Food is average at best, I’m being generous with this assessment. Staff are all smiles and kindness, but they haven’t been properly trained. Feels like the owners tried to cram as many rooms as possible on the land they bought for the hotel. Avoid the tents - overpriced, gimmicky, tiny and no views.

Beautiful spot, lovely rooms, very good restaurant. Easy to walk to a few other places in Sideman. Staff very helpful.

The hotel is nice and clean. The staff are very friendly and the driver Eka who drove us to the waterfall was nice and very patient.

Letteralmente tutto è stato perfetto. Lo staff è stato incredibilmente gentile, attento e sempre disponibile, facendoci sentire accolti dal primo all'ultimo momento. Il cibo è stato semplicemente eccezionale, con sapori autentici e ingredienti di altissima qualità. La cooking class, preceduta dalla visita al mercato locale, è stata una delle esperienze più belle del soggiorno: non solo abbiamo imparato ricette tradizionali e scoperto tanti segreti della cucina locale, ma una volta tornati in Italia le abbiamo preparate per amici e familiari, ricevendo i complimenti di tutti. È un ricordo che porteremo sempre con noi. Anche la spa e il servizio massaggi sono stati fantastici, il modo perfetto per rilassarsi e completare un'esperienza già straordinaria. Davvero non avremmo potuto chiedere di meglio da questo soggiorno: è stato indimenticabile e speriamo di tornare presto.

We just left the Wapa di Ume family and I feel an urge to testify about it. Indeed this hotel has been selected as the 5th best hotel in Asia and 12th in the world and it so worths it. First things first, the location, in the magical valley of sidemen, the Wapa is integrated in an exotic garden of heaven. The view is so incredible that people we sent pictures to thought it was AI! Then the family luxury tent with private pool - a gem - whatever you ask you got it and you got it fast and with a big smile. The view from the room, the quietness, the materials (coming from an interior designer) : everything is so quiet luxury! The big pools are also designed as piece of arts. We had the special bbq night on the small island within the hotel - so white lotus vibe! On top of it the food was incredible - crêpés Suzette better that the ones we have in our lovely Brittany! Everything was so perfect. When you have all of this, you add an extra careful staff - everyone just wants you to be happy, from the gardener, to the restaurant, the drivers of mini carts, the bar’s staff and the room manager, cleaning team everyone was so efficient and kind. Last word : thank you Wapa, one of the best hotel experience we ever had

Personnel très accueillant et serviable La soirée Riverside BBQ était très bien organisée, bon buffet, super spectacle et ambiance ! Lesson de yoga le matin sur le rooftop était vraiment un excellent cours avec une vue magnifique. Belle grande piscine à débordement avec jolie vue sur la colline et la végétation luxuriante. Nous avons aussi bcp aime le sightseeing tour de Sidemen organisé par une personne de l’hôtel, avec marche dans les rizières et visite d’un atelier de tissage. Super explications en petit groupe !

La tente n’était pas très grande (versus les photos prises en panoramique sur le site) et assez sombre. Petite piscine individuelle, qui fait aussi plus petite (si bien qu’on a surtout profite de la grand piscine commune). Vue sur le toit d’une autre tente et non sur la rizière comme on l’imaginait. L’hôtel mériterait un peu de rafraîchissement. Certains murs et peintures ont pas mal de moisissures à cause de l’eau de la piscine et l’humidité ambiante.

Wapa Di ume is a beautiful hotel, with an outstanding view from the pool and the restaurant. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the morning walk in the rice terrace. The design is quite old fashioned and the hotel might need a little freshen up, but otherwise it is truly a beautiful place.

The hotel looks sometimes a bit old and would benefit from a renovation for a 5 stars hotel, but still looking very nice.

Loved everything- the service, the luxury tent, the location, the views, the pools, the food in the restaurant. Everything was perfect and it was such a relaxing stay. Staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. We were on our honeymoon and the room was made to look extra special. We were also given a free cake to celebrate which was a lovely touch. The free tour of Sidemen was interesting

Fantastic guide, wonderful with kids! We had a fantastic day with Budhi, exploring the rice terraces and Sidemen. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy-going throughout. What really stood out was how great he was with our three kids (12, 11, and 8) — patient, engaging, and always making sure they stayed interested and involved. Not every guide manages that with a range of ages, but Budhi made it look easy. Highly recommend him for any family visiting Ubud!

What a wonderful hotel!!! Amazing service as usual in Bali. Peaceful location overlooking the river and up the other side of the valley at the "Sleeping Elephant" (the shape of the mountains). Short walk up the road via a few bars and shops to the main road running through Sideman. Food was great and with a number of vegan options for us. Our room was a spacious villa with a large comfortable bed. Only thing which was wrong is that we only stayed one night...wish it could have been longer! Next time!

An absolute hidden gem! My fiancé and I stayed here, and it completely exceeded our expectations. Nestled right in the lush green valleys of Sidemen, the resort offers a peaceful, romantic escape far away from the busier tourist hubs. The atmosphere is serene and deeply immersive in nature, surrounded by stunning rice fields and dramatic mountain views. The service is top-notch, the rooms are pristine and beautifully designed, and lounging by the pool overlooking the tropical landscape was a major highlight. If you are looking for an authentic, luxurious, and tranquil getaway in Bali, this is the place to stay. Highly recommended for couples!

Ce que nous avons particulièrement apprécié dans cet hôtel, c’est la magnifique vue sur les rizières ainsi que le service de chambre effectué deux fois par jour. La chambre était toujours propre et bien rangée, ce qui était très appréciable.

La piscine privée proposée avec la chambre était vraiment très petite et, malheureusement, pas très propre, au point que nous n’en avons même pas profité durant notre séjour. Par ailleurs, le concept de « tente de luxe » proposé pour les villas avec piscine ne nous a pas vraiment convaincus. Le service est assuré par une seule personne pour plusieurs villas, ce qui entraîne parfois des délais d’attente assez longs. De plus, les plats provenant de la cuisine principale de l’hôtel arrivent parfois froids, ce qui est vraiment dommage pour un établissement qui se positionne sur un standing aussi élevé.

Wapa di Ume was among the most beautiful places we have ever been, and our experience at the resort matched the remarkable setting. The facilities were gorgeous and luxurious. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to make our experience special. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival by Utari, who helped us with anything that came up during our stay. We ate frequently at the restaurant, and the food was delicious. The staff was very careful to accommodate an allergy, making sure that we could enjoy our food without worry. Riska made sure that everyone who came to our table knew about our allergy concerns, and also was lovely to talk to during our meals. We highly recommend the cooking class! Merta and Ari were patient teachers, guiding us in preparing a Balinese feast! This was such an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon (come hungry!). Finally, our driver and guide, Gede, was phenomenal! From our airport transfers, to a day trip to the Besakih Great Temple, to recommendations for places to visit, to helping us learn more about Bali, he was willing to share his knowledge and experience, truly adding such a personal touch to our experience at Wapa di Ume. What a fantastic stay--we hope to be back!

Beautiful location, such kind and wonderful staff. Rooms were beautiful and comfortable with everything my two adult daughters and I needed. Food and drinks were also fabulous!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wapa di Ume and are considering going back next year. We stayed in one of the Luxury Glamping tents(Luxtent) which came with a few extra’s. We had exclusive access to the downstairs pool & lounge with all day coffee/tea and snacks. The rooms(tents) are not overly spacious but very clean and comfortable. It was very quiet and private. It probably would have been handy to have more clothes hanging and storage space but we managed. Our private plunge pool wasn’t heated so it made for a ‘refreshing’ dip. The outlook from our luxtent was beautiful. The gardens and resort surrounds are truly stunning and well maintained. It goes without saying the staff are just such beautiful people. So friendly, always smiling and ready to assist. For us, it made the stay so enjoyable. It is so interesting learning about the local ‘way of life’. Overall the food was good. We used the resort bicycles(at no extra charge) to explore the local area. It was pretty hilly but lots of fun. There are some good options to eat nearby if you wish to venture out.

Our family had a wonderful stay here! The setting is absolutely breathtaking… surrounded by lush, beautiful rice fields and jungle gardens… it feels peaceful and truly special from the moment you arrive. The staff made our experience exceptional. Everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming, thoughtful and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Their kindness and attention to detail made us feel so well cared for. I also loved the beautiful yoga space and started several mornings. If you are looking for a place that combines stunning natural beauty with heartfelt hospitality… this is it. We left feeling relaxed, grateful and hopeful to return.

the infinity pool, views, room and food was all amazing. the massages were spectacular. we enjoyed a yoga session and walks into the local village to get icecream, try out some other restaurants and do a bit of local shopping. the white water rafting booked through the villa was the best we have ever been on

A much needed escape! Relaxing vibes throughout and the luxury tent was amazing. Loved the design of the room, everything flowed so well with the pool directly connected to the showering area. The location is stunning and peaceful. We found the cost to be very reasonable, good value for money. We've had some good service during the stay as well. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. We decided to try out the hotel's cooking experience which was really fun! Chef Merta and Juli kept us very entertained and helped us experience the Balinese flavours...the food is amazing here! We definitely recommend this experience! Thankyou to all the staff at Wapa di Ume Sideman. We shall definitely be returning here on our next visit to Bali!

It was peaceful, beautifully designed, and the perfect place to slow down. One of the highlights of my stay was the range of activities the hotel offers. As a solo traveller, it was such a lovely way to experience rural Bali alongside local guides. I especially enjoyed the cooking class, where we prepared a traditional Balinese meal, the scooter tour through the rice fields to a nearby waterfall for a refreshing swim, and the morning treks through the village and countryside. The spa treatment was also incredible, and the perfect reward after a three-hour trek. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so memorable. Suksma!

I felt the food was a little too commercial. I did the cooking class and we used local ingredients and the dish was amazing but when I ordered a traditional balinese meal from the restaurant they used frozen vegetables e.g. just carrot and peas and the flavours were lacking which was a bit disappointing.

We absolutely loved our stay at Wapa. The views are incredible and were honestly one of the highlights of our trip. Sitting out and looking over the valley each morning was so peaceful. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. They really made us feel looked after throughout our stay. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax in Sidemen with beautiful scenery and genuine hospitality, I couldn’t recommend Wapa highly enough. We’d definitely stay here again.

When we arrived at the resort, we met Eka. He gave us a warm welome, and showed us around the hotel. Whenever we walk through the resepticon he always gave us a smile, and took the time to talk to us. The staff where super helpful and friendly. And its a calm and charming place surrounded by the ricefild

We stayed in Wapa di Uma Sidemen for two nights and absolutely loved the experience. The hotel is stunning and the staff go above and beyond to make your stay simply fabulous. The pool area is out of a movie and the views absolutely outstanding. Cannot recommend enough this hotel! Would stay again!

We had such a wonderful time at Wapa di Ume. The whole resort is amazing and the luxury tent in particular was spectacular. It felt like you were part of the beautiful landscape. Everything was wonderful. The hotel staff were cheerful, friendly, and helpful. I asked them to change my room to a more comfortable one, and they upgraded my room to a higher level at no extra charge. The views were heavenly, and the food was delicious. I'm delighted with my visit and look forward to returning next time.

We came to Wapa Di Umi as the first stop on our honeymoon. The location is fantastic, the pool the view etc - the food was also exceptional - however the thing that made it so special for us was the staff. Everyone was so kind and welcoming, everyone knew us by name and took the time to chat with us and make sure we were having a great day - I don’t think I’ve ever stayed somewhere so welcoming. A special call out to Santa, Wira, Rimi, Erika & Mahendra who went over and above to help us, whether that be a late night pick up, amazing spa treatment or just being so friendly and kind. Great start to our week away.

We had such an amazing time staying here and would recommend it to anyone. The hotel and the nature around it are absolutely beautiful, you feel immersed in Sidemen without even leaving the hotel. All the staff were so welcoming and helpful - particularly Mahendra who picked us up from our very late flight and made the whole journey very smooth, Wira who welcomed us as we arrived in the middle of the night and was so kind - they had even thought to prepare us chicken sandwiches and tea in case we were hungry from our flight as it was about 3am. He also led a great guided walk one of the mornings through the local area. The pool is beautiful and gym was great to use. The spa was lovely we had a spa package treatment and the two spa people Rini and Ericka was so friendly and did a great job. Santa was a really friendly waiter and he also taught us about his culture - it was so interesting. All the other staff were also great. I am so sad to leave here! X

Emplacement incroyable, la vue du restaurant principal pour le petit déjeuner est juste sublime. Toute les infrastructures sont de qualités. La décoration des chambres est magnifique. C’est un endroit tellement apaisant que nous n’avions pas envie de partir. Le restaurant était très bien, que ce soit pour les petits déjeuner ou dîner mais il y a également des très bon restaurants tout autour et accessibles à pied.

Il n’y a pas assez de transat autour des piscines , compliqué d’avoir de la place en fin d’après-midi. Des clients laissent leurs serviettes alors qu’ils sont partis. Il faudrait pouvoir contrôler ce genre de comportement.

It’s not in the center of Sidemen but it’s quiet.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What can I say, words will not do this boutique hotel justice. This was our second visit and we were treated like family members, quite a few members of staff remembered us from our visit in 2025 and by having the same staff, the hotel must be doing something right. We decided to go glamping this year, and we were not disappointed. Our “luxury pool tent” was perfect (apart from having no wardrobes/drawers, but then I suppose guests don’t stay as long as us!). We stayed 6 nights whereas I got the impression most guests stayed about 2 nights. Our tent was kept spotlessly clean. We had the use of the lounge for breakfast and during the day you could have tea/coffee which my husband used to make the most of, although most of it was spent talking to the staff!! There is a quiet pool here also. We spent most of our time at the main pool, just moving sunbeds to keep out of the Sun! For us, it was a perfect retreat for chilling and relaxation. We were celebrating two very special events, one big birthday and 45 years of marriage. We ate in the restaurant most nights and the food is divine and very well presented. I even had lobster which was cooked to perfection. We also did the Riverside barbecue (which is a new addition for us) which was very good, certainly plenty of food and we enjoyed the local Balinese dancers. We had a romantic dinner and the setting was perfect. There are so many people who we would make special mention of. Firstly and foremost, Julia who is a lovely young lady, she is a very kind and caring person. She is a good ambassador for your hotel. She loved playing with the young children! My husband also enjoyed talking with Adi and Budi, who remembered him from last year and special mention to Maha for making a beautiful welcome home card for us. And lastly, a very big mention to Deny, the manager. He was extremely welcoming to us and made us feel at home. All the staff are a credit to your hotel and I am sorry if I have missed anybody out. Would we go back for a third visit? In a heartbeat and we would stay longer. If you are thinking of booking this hotel, don’t hesitate.

Beautifully kept gardens and facilities. Great food at Sleeping Gajah Restaurant. All experiences - trek, cooking, sight seeing, walk bicycle, spa were outstanding and thoughtfully presented. All staff, without exception were warm, friendly and exceeded expectations. The afternoon teas, pre dinner drinks and snacks were generous. Our experience was truly relaxing and refreshing and we would highly recommend Wapa Di Ume to anyone wanting a lovely boutique resort atmosphere and welcome from Balinese people. Simon and Rebecca

The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, and every dish we tried was wonderful. A special thank you to Budi, who made every breakfast memorable and also helped us choose the perfect excursions. We would also like to thank Gede and Hardy for the most enjoyable scooter tour. Our best regards to Deni, the Manager, who organized a BBQ dinner beyond anything we could have imagined. The location is amazing, the view is stunning and serene. I liked being able to walk down to the river. The pools are really great, though seats do fill up. I liked the luxury tent, didn't have any issues really other than a couple of mosquitos. The extra pool area with snacks was nice. I enjoyed the free yoga. The restaurant was good but not a standout, I think it suffered from too much variation, maybe more Balinese food would be better. Also, it would be good to make the water options clearer - the bottled mineral water is expensive but there is also free filtered water but it's not the default when asked. This is really normal for Europe but wasn't for my experience in Bali so I was a bit surprised the first time. The spa is also very good, the location really makes it because you have an amazing view for your treatments. All of the staff were really nice and attentive. I definitely recommend staying here.

All I can say is the whole experience was amazing. Come the moment we stepped into the resort the staff were the most lovely professional people you could want to take care of you. The room was amazing with stunning views. We were lucky enough to be there for the Saturday night riversides bbq. Great food, amazing traditional dancing. They even had a short cinematic that took us back to 1920 Bali. Thank you to all the staff for making us feel part of the Wapa Di Ume family.

We visited Wapa Di Uma Sideman back in early 2020 and on our long awaited return from the UK to Bali early in June 2026 we couldn’t wait to revisit. Our memory was of a stunningly quiet and beautiful location with far reaching views and a glorious infinity pool. We’re delighted to report that 6+ years after our first visit the hotel has lost none of its original charm and indeed has extended and improved its offering. It now has additional accommodation in various styles of luxury ‘tents’ which are at the extreme top end of the glamping style! There is also a children’s play area and a wonderfully positioned BBQ area set up alongside the river. We attended the evening BBQ and it was a lovely experience with top quality food, wonderful singers and local Bali dancers performing their art to very high standards. A simply lovely evening in an unbeatable setting hosted by a wonderful team - don’t miss it if you get the opportunity! As is mentioned often in the reviews of this hotel those delivering the extremely high service levels with warmth and care make the experience of staying here something special. The ever smiling Deny (one of the Managers) always present and a delight to converse with. All of the staff within this property deliver wonderful service levels but a special thanks to Sonia, Ayu and, of course, Utari! Utari welcomed us all those years ago and it was great to see her again - she really is exceptional in her varied role! Finally, the extremely high quality dining experience offered within the restaurant throughout each day is a wonder to behold. The delicious food delivered is beautifully presented and is truly at a level of fine dining. All served by a wonderful crew. We met the delightful Chef Widana at the BBQ (food once again off the scale!!). His skills, and that of all in the kitchen team, are to be admired and enjoyed! Thank you Wapa Di Uma Sideman and everyone involved for looking after us with such genuine care. Whilst resting in the tranquil and peaceful setting we once again enjoyed the true Bali experience you all strive to deliver. We’ll be back!!

It was a wonderful experience. The location of the property is stunning. Service and warmth of each and every member of the team is incredible. We felt special. Considering we were the only Indian family staying here, they made us feel special. A beautiful surprise was when chef specially made an Indian breakfast only for us, as a compliment!

Wonderful stay! All staffs are so kind and helpful. I enjoyed magnificent view from restaurants and infinity pools! Breakfast is so delicious! I’m glad that I chose to stay hotel. I definitely would like to come back again.

We had the best time at Wapa di Ume. From the moment we checked in, everyone was extremely friendly and hospitable, from the concierge to the restaurant staff to the gardeners. The WhatsApp messaging system was really helpful and they really catered to our requests. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the live music was beautiful. We also had great massages at the spa (relocated at the time for renovation). Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sidemen!

Our second stay at Wapa di Ume Sidemen for our 30th Wedding Anniversary—and we simply couldn’t resist coming back. We needed more: more serenity, more hospitality, more relaxation at the beautiful Kapha Spa, and most importantly, more of their incredible GRO, Sonia. Sonia’s personal touch, attention to detail, and friendly nature make every guest feel comfortable and cared for. She went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our stay was perfect, even after hours. Her dedication is truly remarkable, and we appreciate her more than words can express. One of the most touching moments of our stay was our romantic anniversary dinner. Sonia had arranged 30 candles—one for each year of our marriage. When she explained the meaning behind them, it truly moved us to the core. Thank you, Sonia. That memory will stay with us forever. Why did we choose Wapa di Ume again? We wanted somewhere familiar, romantic, close to nature, and a place that genuinely feels like home. This time, we also joined the BBQ dinner and had the pleasure of meeting Denny, Wapa’s Room Division Manager. His bubbly personality and genuine warmth make guests feel instantly welcome—something that is very important to us. Many of our days were spent simply enjoying our luxury tent and private pool, but we also made time to visit Kapha Spa. As returning guests, we were warmly welcomed by Remi and Ariasih, whose kindness and care always make us feel special. After each treatment, they lovingly treated us to local Balinese refreshments—not because they had to, but because it came from the heart. People often ask me: if I speak so highly of Wapa di Ume, would I return again in a heartbeat? Absolutely. And my husband would wholeheartedly agree. Is there room for improvement? Of course. We are all human, and every place can continue to grow. But that can wait for another review. For now, Wapa di Ume Sidemen continues to deserve every one of its five stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We stayed in a luxurious tent-style accommodation featuring a king-size bed, double sinks, and a private pool. The ambiance was peaceful and inviting, creating a truly relaxing retreat. Nestled on the mountainside, the resort offers stunning views of rice fields, beautifully landscaped gardens, a river, and a lush tropical forest. The stay also included complimentary yoga classes and guided walking tours, making the experience even more enjoyable and memorable.
