Good location

The property does not look like the photos provided online - a lot more run down in reality. First time we have checked out on the same day as check in. The room felt unclean and generally dirty. We did not feel safe to leave our valuables at the property whilst we searched for another place to stay. Very overpriced for what is provided.

De locatie was super! Het strand is praktisch om de hoek. Daarnaast zit je ook aan de hoofdweg waar leuke restaurants zijn (geen last van verkeer 's nachts). Verder zit er naast het verblijf een supermarkt wat ideaal is voor snacks etc. Het ontbijt was ook echt super, het werd vers gemaakt op het gewenste tijdstip. We hebben via het verblijf ook excursies geboekt zoals Kumana National park. De kamer had AC wat erg prettig was met de hitte. We hebben hier een super ervaring gehad en zouden het opnieuw boeken!

Location was perfect right near the beach with a little shop built in on the front. Walking distance to all restaurants on the main strip. The hosts are the most amazing people who even cooked and shared a traditional lunch with us and later came to join us for dinner.

The Air con in our room became a bit warm on our last 2 days and the bathroom flooded a little bit after a shower.

The location was wonderful and super central. The staff was so nice and helpful with scheduling activities. Big and spacious rooms.

The room was smelling a little stale.

Eine sehr familiäres Hostel in dem man sich gut aufgehoben fühlt, bei jeglichen Anliegen wurde mit Selbstverständlichkeit geholfen! Der Besitzer organisiert immer wieder gemeinsame Abendessen bei denen man zusammen sitzen und quatschten kann. Das Hostel ist sehr sauber und gepflegt. Einfach zum wohlfühlen!

Super Lage in Arugam Bay, herzliche Besitzer, Ausstattung eher einfach gehalten, aber völlig ausreichend.

Das Frühstück war im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften auf unserer Reise eher überschaubar und simpel, trotzdem lecker!

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour au Tropicana Home stay. La chambre était confortable et bien équipée. La localisation de l'hôtel est parfaite, près des nombreux restaurants et bars. A de pas de la plage. Le personnel était soucieux de notre confort. Nous recommandons !

La ubicación en el centro de Arugam y al lado de la playa. La habitación era pequeña pero cómoda.

Como ya dije, la habitación era cómoda pero no había iluminación ya que no podías abrir la ventana porque estaba en medio de una zona de paso, estando la ventana al nivel del tránsito. El baño no había por donde cogerlo, entiendo que no todos son así sino no tendría tan buenas reseñas pero el de nuestra habitación (standar) tenía la ducha deteriorada y prácticamente encima del váter, lo que lo hacía bastante incómodo. Además de no tener agua caliente, unicamente abrías el agua para un lado. Sumado a que era muy ruidosa en general y se escuchaba todo, a las 4:00am te despertabas con el rezo, que se sentía como si estuviesen dentro de la habitación.

Chambre spacieuse, confortable et propre. L’hôtel est sur la rue principale. Le personnel est très disponible et nous a réservé un super cours de surf et un safari à Kumana à des prix très intéressants par rapport à ce qui est proposé dans la rue.

A great place with lovely people. Everything was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Jazz gave me such a warm welcome and was incredibly helpful with everything I needed.

Great location, just a few meters from the beach.

The room we had was very old and it had many issues... It seems like they have old and new rooms and the old ones really need some improvements. The bathroom door would not close and the drainage was horrible so the whole bathroom was flooded for almost an hour after we took a shower... Also there was only one working electric outlet in the room.

En la recepción hay frase que dice: sentirse como en casa lejos de casa. Esto es exactamente Tropicana Home Stay. Un lugar encantador con unos anfitriones espectaculares.A 15 minutos andando de un spot de surf, un supermercado justo al lado, farmacia enfrente y en la puerta los cocos más y frescos fríos de toda Arugama Bay. Las habitaciones muy limpias y nuevas, equipadas con aire acondicionado y ventilador de techo. Con el desayuno hay tres opciones diferentes siempre con fruta, las tres opciones bastante buenas. Los anfitriones se encargan de todo lo que necesites, taxi a cualquier parte, tuktuk para moverte, clases de surf…siempre están dispuestos a ayudarte con todo. La comunicación antes de llegar siempre fue fluida y resolvió todas nuestras dudas. Gracias a Miska (espero que se escriba asi 😊) y a Jazz por todo, por habernos sentido como en casa.

This was probably my best stay in Sri Lanka. Jazz is an amazing host that will help you out with anything and the place is just perfect. All the facilities you need, very new rooms (bathroom is perfect), location is great. Absolutely recommend staying at Tropicana! Rooms even have a small desk and the wifi is great so even some remote work is possible if that’s what you’re looking for.

The staff are lovely and welcoming. We had roti and dhal for breakfast every day which was incredible but you could choose between 3 different options. We had family dinner our last night and got to learn more about the owner who has had the place since 2005! Would recommend to anyone staying as it’s away from all the noise of partying. Just be aware it’s close to the mosque so we did get woken up for morning prayers but it only lasts 5 minutes so can easily fall back asleep after

Just be aware the budget room is budget facilities but it’s a fair price for the facilities there and we had no issues

Camera ampia e spaziosa, con aria condizionata dotata di tutto il necessario. 2 min a piedi dalla bellissima spiaggia ed adiacente alla via principale con ristoranti e negozi. Minimarket annesso struttura. Organizzano direttamente il Safari. Jazz e Miska due persone squisite, gentilissime e simpaticissime. L'avocado juice con gelato ed il guacamole con papadum preparati da Miska Top! Consigliatissimo Aruganbay una favola Manuela & Christian

We had a wonderful stay! Jazz, the owner, was extremely helpful and always available to solve any issue. The hotel is welcoming, just steps from the sea, and Jazz gave us great local recommendations and introduced us to some lovely people. Highly recommended!

Great hotel with an excellent location, delicious breakfast, and very clean, spacious, and beautiful rooms. The host was also very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

Jazz is the best

We had a wonderful stay at Tropicana Beach Hotel! The hotel is very clean, well organised and extremely efficient, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotless, and we really appreciated the quality of the accommodation. The location is also perfect: close to everything in Arugam Bay, including the beach, restaurants and shops, while still being in a quiet and peaceful area, which makes it easy to relax after a busy day. The staff were lovely, welcoming and always helpful whenever we needed anything. Overall, a great place to stay in Arugam Bay, and we would definitely recommend it!

There was a slight smell coming from the bathroom.

We had a wonderful time at Tropicana!! The hosts were incredibly warm, kind, generous. They were able to assist in organising our surf lessons and motorbike hire. We even had dinner with the host one night at the accomodation, which was very lovely. The accomodation is just off centre to the centre, making it an amazing location, as you still get the busy street as well as quiet surroundings at night. It is a one minute walk to the beach as well. The rooms were very spacious and had great facilities including AC, ceiling fan and a fridge which was great for keeping our water cold. We especially loved how the accomodation had lounge chairs at the front of each room, making it a great spot for some downtime. The accomodation block is nice and enclosed too, making it feel very cosy. The hosts also own the convenience store attached to the home stay, easy access for all your needs! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tropicana and would highly recommend staying here! The hosts also own very cute cats who roam around the accomodation!

Het zit vlak naast de weg dus je hoort het verkeer. Was voor mij niet perse storend.

Wir haben ein paar tolle Tage im Tropicana verbracht. Die ganze Familie arbeitet hier mit, ein Supermarkt ist mit angeschlossen. Alle waren super freundlich und nett. Wir haben abends zusammen Karten gespielt und gegessen. Jazz hatte viele Tips für uns und uns auch einen sehr guten Surflehrer vermittelt und einen Fahrer für die Weiterfahrt. Die Budgetzimmer sind sehr einfach ausgestattet aber die Lage zum Strand und Zentrum ist super. WLAN hat perfekt funktioniert.

De locatie en de mensen. Je bent binnen 20 seconden op het strand. Iedereen is super vriendelijk en behulpzaam waardoor je je meteen op je gemak voelt. Wij hebben er 5 nachten geslapen en het voelde een beetje als een thuis. De kamers zijn goed en er wordt goed schoon gemaakt. Leuke zitjes ook voor je kamer. Volgende keer dat ik in Arugambay ben zal ik hier zeker opnieuw gaan slapen.

Posizione ottima, molto vicina alla spiaggia e a tutti i servizi, dato che si trova sulla strada principale di Arugam Bay. Camera pulita e spaziosa, ben tenuta. La famiglia è molto accogliente e ospitale, hanno anche organizzato una cena per tutti gli ospiti. Mettono a disposizione molto servizi, ad esempio noi abbiamo usufruito della lavanderia ad un buon prezzo e alle lezioni di surf che vengono organizzate da loro.

Muy majos, las habitaciones muy bien equipadas con aire acondicionado y muy bien ubicado. Los dueños son además muy amables.

Kort aan het strand, er is een winkeltje aan waar je drinken en snacks kan kopen.

Aan de overkant van de straat is er om 4u30 het gebed in de moskee waarvan je sowieso wakker wordt. 🫣

Wow, what a time we had at THE Tropicana Home Stay. We were a 2 min walk from everywhere we needed to go, but didn’t have to suffer through all the loud noises you get further down the strip. Very accomodating host. The main part of the beach is a 10 min walk away. However this property is still right on the beach. Great value for money. Would highly recommend this stay.

Aardige staff, via hen een aantal leuke activiteiten geboekt (surfen, safari). Chille kamers met goede airco, fijn balkon, top locatie.

L'hôtel est bien placé et la famille est très accueillante.

Ne prenez surtout pas la chambre économique. Les fenêtres étant opaques il n'y avait aucune lumière naturelle dans la chambre, pas d'eau chaude, vue sur le hangar à voitures. Je pense que même pour une option économique les chambres méritent un coup de propre.

Good location, close to the beach and restaurants. The owner helped us arranging transport and surf lessons. Rooms were clean and spacious with good AC.

Stayed for 15 days at Jazz’s place and loved every bit of it. Jazz and his family are so kind. The homestay (upgraded room) has all modern amenities but still feels surrounded by nature. Internet was good and we could continue remote work for the 2 weeks. Its location is the best part. Beach and essentials (eating places) are all walkable. We also loved the fresh home-cooked breakfast. Jazz was available to help us with anything we needed throughout our stay - arranged for our 9 day surf classes and airport cab pickup and drop from Colombo airport. Initially our plan was to stay in Arugam for 7 days but extended by 1 more week as we had a super comfortable time at the Tropicana Homestay - 10/10 would stay again!

De locatie is top! De luxere kamer is mooi. Grote badkamer en slaapkamer.

Wij hadden per ongeluk een goedkopere kamer geboekt. De badkamer was erg primitief. Gelukkig konden we na twee nachten upgraden tegen betaling en deze kamer was velen mate beter. Er hing een beetje een ongemakkelijke sfeer tijdens ons verblijf.

The property is spacious and ideally located in the heart of Arugam Bay. The owner is very accommodating and can arrange safari and lagoon trips at reasonable prices. The breakfast was excellent, and he even customized it to suit our preferences.

Nothing major, just a couple of minor points: the Wi-Fi signal was weak in our room, and the property felt a little pricey.

We had a fantastic stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with anything we needed. The owner even invited us to enjoy an authentic homemade dinner prepared by his sister, and it was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this place!

Since it’s located on the main road in Arugam Bay, it can be a bit noisy at times.

Extremely good value for money ! The place is very well situated, 20m from the beach whilst being on the main avenue of Arugam Bay. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped us book and incredible safari and surf lessons.

Gastgeber sind ein junges Paar + diverse Angestellte. Total herzlich und liebevoll! Kümmern sich um alle Belange Ihrer Gäste. Wir haben nach einem Kochkurs gesucht und die beiden haben uns kurzerhand dazu eingeladen, mit ihnen zu kochen - war köstlich und wirklich schön. Frühstück ist exzellent. Es gibt verschiedene Optionen zur Auswahl. AC und WLAN funktionieren einwandfrei. WLAN reicht im Speisesaal auch für Videocalls. Teils auch auf dem Zimmer, je nachdem, welches Zimmer erwischt wird. Betten bequem. Regelmäßige Reinigung. Alles top!

I had a lovely stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Arugam Bay. The room was clean and comfortable, the air conditioning worked really well, and the WiFi was fast and reliable throughout my stay. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, always happy to answer questions or help with anything I needed. The location is also perfect – close to the beach, restaurants and bars, so it’s easy to walk everywhere. A great place to stay if you’re looking for somewhere comfortable, welcoming and in the heart of Arugam Bay.

La chambre était spacieuse et Jazz et Mista très généreux et gentils. Ils nous ont aidé à réserver les cours de surf et le petit déjeuner tous les matins était très appréciable. La salle de bain est propre tout comme les espaces communs. C’est collé à une petite épicerie ce qui est très pratique en cas de besoin. Ils nous ont aussi donné accès à la chambre plus tôt que prévu c’était très gentil !

Notre expérience chez Tropicana Home Stay était globalement très très bonne. 2 choses à mettre en avant : - C’est un home stay. ce qui veut dire que tot le matin (7-8h) et tard le soir (23h) il peut y avoir du bruit des guests ou de la famille. Demandez une chambre loin de l’espace de vie commune si cela vous importe. - L’emplacement sur la route fait que c’est bruyant, mais je pense que c’est le cas de tous les hôtels de la « main road » d’Arugam Bay

Heel erg genoten in deze fijne homestay. De mensen zijn mega vriendelijk, de locatie is perfect, lekker ontbijt, fijn bed en een goed werkende airconditioning.

The rooms are a bit small but they have so many options.

I think one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in Sri Lanka. I can smell the clean laundry smell for blanket and their towel. Their towel soft to touch, toilet very clean. I hope they continue to do the good job.

Toilet paper has this smell, but I dk is it the brand they used bec I have smell it in other accoms as well Sometimes door lock stuck, nth emergency.

I spent a week doing an internship at Tropicana Home and I was very satisfied with everything.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were spacious and airy, and the bathroom looked newly renovated and was very clean. The air conditioning worked perfectly and we never had any issues with the temperature. Breakfast was good and more than enough for us. The beach is also just a one-minute walk away, which was very convenient. The staff were always very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay and would definitely recommend this place.
