Olive Tree Guest House

It’s a cosy and partially very old house. Very well maintained and clean as it can be. We were warmly welcomed by David when we arrived. Parking was possible behind the house. Breakfast was also delicious. Highly recommend!

The Olive Tree is located in a small village, just north of Uttoxeter, with secure parking behind the building. Warm welcome from David on arrival. Check-in was simple and breakfast order taken on day before. Breakfast was good and nice quality items. The building originates in the 1720s and keeps a lot of the original features (beware of low doorways!). Rooms were adequate and as a sole traveller, good. I will use the accommodation again, when I am in the area. Wi-Fi functioned well.

Had a lovely little appartment, with sofa & little dinning table & chairs, together with a little kitchen. Location was a nice quiet, beautiful village. Really nice cooked breakfast

Location for Alton Towers was pretty good, no more than a 20 min drive to the main car park. The area was nice and quiet, Rebecca and David were great hosts and accommodating. The place had a homely feel to it. It was myself and my two teenage sons so it was great that my particular unit had two bedrooms (1 with double bed, 1 with twin beds). Beds were comfortable. The breakfast was excellent (well done David!)

Not much to complain about really. If I had to it would have been nice to have another room, or more space to have a sofa to sit on, but then I'd expect to pay more. Low ceilings! although I was warned and managed to miss knocking myself out on the door frames.

Beautiful little place to stay we was doing a trip to alton towers so perfect place to stay over before hand. Also breakfast was lovely freshly cooked hot breakfast. Very friendly

Booked this as a fairly last minute stay after a visit to Alton towers, it's a very old quirky building but well looked after, rooms were comfortable with tea and coffee supplied. Hosts were very welcoming and the breakfast the following day was lovely.

David and Rebecca were wonderful hosts, really friendly and accommodating. Comfy bed, great freshly cooked breakfast. Will definitely stay again.

We used Olive tree guest house as a last-minute stop off to Alton towers on the way home from a week away. 20minutes from the park, clean, welcoming and friendly, we were very happy to have found this room!! Breakfast was amazing and when we visit again, The Olive tree guest house will be out look out for accommodation near to the park.

Dogs in the building. I know I probably should have checked this but because I have allergies, I was itching all night and the itching got worse in the morning before breakfast. I had to take antihistamine to relief the itching. Also, while I understand that they ask you to reorder your breakfast, it'd be nice if the fruits and cereals are left out for people to choose. It was kinda awkward to be asked what cereal and fruit we liked when we really can't see these. Especially fruit is a bit tricky to choose without seeing it. I would've got 2 fruits and a yoghurt but it felt awkward when I had to ask what fruit do you have?

Communication prior to our visit was great. Keeping us updated and answering any questions. On arrival the hosts were friendly. The room was lovely with tea and coffee supplies. We visited during very hot weather and there were fans provided in the rooms which was very appreciated. Breakfast was lovely. The food was amazing and the breakfast room was very nicely set up.

Great location for Alton Towers ( 20 minutes away ) Room was very comfy, plenty of room, light and well thought out with everything we needed Breakfast was lovely, hot and tasty, and plenty of choice. Perfect hosts, were on hand and had a helpful approach.

The original features and charm , the short drive to Alton towers and the most loveliest of families running the B&B would highly recommend.

Lovely guest house run by a lovely couple. Excellent location for me as very close to my work. Also good for Alton Towers. Spotted they have family rooms, and was kindly shown around upon request. Would definitely stay again for both work trips and family time. Room was comfy. Decor nice and fresh. Shower wonderful. WiFi more than adequate. Didn’t stay for breakfast but heard good things.

The guest house was in the perfect location for visiting Alton Towers, which was the purpose of our trip. It was clean, the hosts very welcoming, the room comfortable and an adequate size. Plus the cooked breakfast was very nice and filling. Every aspect of the stay was excellent.

There really wasn't anything wrong with our stay. If we are in the area again, we would likely choose the same place.

We had a great stay at this accommodation. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, with a fresh and delicious full English that we really enjoyed. The location is also very convenient, being only about 20 minutes from Alton Towers. The kitchen was very well equipped, making it easy to prepare meals during our stay.

The only downside was that the shower pressure was quite weak. Aside from that, everything was perfect and we would definitely recommend staying here.

This was a great stop off for our night away. Perfect for us as a family of 4, as our children had their own room. Beds lovely and comfy and we all slept well. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Thank you for a lovely stay.

From the moment we arrived it was the warmest welcome! After a long day at Alton Towers we wanted somewhere cozy, cute and clean and this was more than that! The owners are extremely hospitable and make you feel comfortable straight away - we put our orders in for breakfast the night before and let them know a time we would be down for breakfast. Our room was exceptionally clean and having the sofa and kitchen area was great for us to chill for the evening and watch a movie. We had a restful sleep and the perfect breakfast the next morning. I will definitely be booking again when I next visit the theme parks! Xxxxxx

Lovely hosts, great breakfast, comfy good size room (we had the family studio apartment which was perfect for us - 2 adults and a toddler. Great value for money and convenient for our Alton Towers mini break.

For me personally the mattress on the bed was too soft.

Olive tree guest house is a hidden gem , Great location, spotless clean, warm, and welcoming owners. The room was fantastic. we stayed in room 4 . The large, warm, and cosy bed was so comfortable. The room was absolutely spotless and clean, with excellent quality towels and bedding. Breakfast was amazing. The hosts were wonderful. The property is spotless and the breakfast was fantastic served in a homely dining room. Host was very kind, he called us to tell us we had left a charger at the property.

The door frames are low in the room we stayed in , but that’s just how the old building is. Nothing can be done .. just remember if you go to the loo in the night 😂

The owners were so nice! Absolutely friendly and helpful. The facilities were super clean. The breakfast was delicious. The family room was good for 2 adults and 2 kids. It's absolutely cozy and charming in a nice and quiet neighborhood.

If you're tall you might bump your head on a door frame. Seriously, I have nothing actually negative.

I found the shower to be less powerful than I would have liked.

I liked the fact it was so clean and comfy .I felt safe it was really quiet which is what we needed after a long day at Alton towers

Not enough toiletries .When asked I was refused and they were quite abrupt with my partner about that stating they have provided enough the shampoo was 35ml and I have very long hair so that’s just not enough .The shower gel is the same 35ml bottle after being in Alton towers all day I would like to be to lather up twice as we been walking all day we felt uncomfortable so in order to feel clean I needed more so yeah I didn’t appreciate being told enough was provided when they gave 35ml and we showered twice it’s personal preference we use more so when we ask for another one I don’t see why that was such an issue .I have to say the hosts werent abrupt with us on the other occasions we met then like breakfast time etc just that time

The location was perfect after having gone to Alton Towers for the day. The family room with a separate double and twin rooms with the shower in between was perfect for us and our 2 teenage daughters. The breakfast was delicious - highly recommend!

We liked the the twin beds for the kids next door while we had our privacy in our own room. The beddings were comfortable and befitting of the price.

The height of the doors/door frames. Even though the host told us to be mindful of the height of the the 17th century building doors/door frames, my husband hit his head about three times by the time we left.

Very friendly and inviting welcome. The room was a good size with a very nice country cottage feel to it, a good sized modern bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, good quality ingredients. The full English breakfast was done well and hot. Well worth the stay.

We booked this place after reading all the positive reviews of the breakfast ☺️ - I can report it didn’t disappoint. The accommodation was excellent aswell. Super clean and had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable too.

The room and the breakfast was good but not exceptional

The worst experience was the man's attitude. He was rude. When I said that I have to go out and come back around midnight he asked me to find another place. When I said that its too late to find another place he strongly discouraged. He got angry when I asked about the breakfast. I only wanted to find out if some healthy options were available because of a health condition I have. He accused me of wanting different types of flavours of yoghurt which was not the case. By then I had already requested in my written request which was only a brown bread and plain youghurt. As this was late evening the day before I was to travel to the Guest House I was feeling bad and anxious going to stay there as an unwelcome visitor. Until I left I was feeling at any point he could come and blame me for something. I later found that there are other reviews with similar experience. I would rather go to a place where I will be welcomed even if the room and breakfast was not good. If the food was bad you can buy but staying anxious and you cant do anything. I felt like it was a boarding school with a strict warden. I would stay in a guest house where the owners care about their business and try to attract customers showing good attitude

Nice apartment in good location for Alton Towers. Plenty of space with kitchen area and bathroom, living room and bedroom area. Breakfast provided was delicious and. Hosts were really nice and helpful/ accommodating.

Sofa wasn’t that comfortable, needed a separate pop up bed for my daughter really- booking.com shouldn’t allow it to be booked for an adult and teenager, bed is only a double but plenty of space for a kingsize could be a better option. And would allow people to sleep comfortably.

The room was spotless and had a lovely warm feel. It was just so fresh and clean. The hosts were very welcoming, the drinks in the bar were excellent value and we really enjoyed our stay. I loved the fact our children had their own beds in the family room which is often not the case in large hotels. The breakfast was amazing and we would love to come back.
