Appleton Boutique Hotel - Cebu

Hotel was acceptable for a short stay but would probably choose somewhere else in the future.

The hotel was acceptable for a short stay but probably would choose another hotel in the future.

We always stay at Appleton when traveling threw Cebu anywhere from 3-12 days we have stayed here multiple times, always a great stay and easy to walk to lots of places

My time with Appleton was great! This is my go-to hotel whenever I visit Cebu! It's near the airport so I'm never anxious to catch up on some zzz before my flights! It's quiet and perfect for me! I always have to book here several months in advance though since it's always fully booked! I suggest this hotel to my friends when they mention they're planning to go to Cebu!

The bed didn’t have a fitted sheet on it, and when we called to ask for one they said the laundry was closed and there wasn’t one available. So we slept on top of the flat sheet with a comforter on top that we weren’t positive if it had been cleaned before we used it.

Had no hot water in the morning for a shower. The hotel was ok , close to the airport. Great for the night.

Was in need of a place to stay, close to the airport, for one night. The hotel was a nice place and it fit the needs quite nicely for the night. I would stay here again.

Actually, I did the job all I wanted this place to stay and then leave it’s OK hotel

Not a bad place to stay in. Close to the airport, and affordable. Its no frills but somewhat clean.

Welcoming staff mmmmm, firstly the photos in web unbelievably misleading 4*? Absolutely not I'd say 2* but it served a purpose...bed for a couple of nights though not much sleep with the noise levels. The whole room totally outdated, furniture...well my photos will say it all. Bathroom absolutely horrendous from taps hanging off, no hot water, the smell of water so bad had to keep door closed , cockroaches in loo basin, mold at a level of concern all over walls, guest slippers in the 1940s wardrobe ...used may I add. Would I stay again? Absolutely not.

Warning ⚠️ don't stay at this hotel. It's very very dirty. I regret booking in this hotel. The staff was friendly though but it's really dirty. From the lobby to our room bathroom, the bed. My kitchen floor rug is way cleaner that their towels.Good thing I only booked for overnight. The superior bedroom with king size bed and a two way shuttle pick up was a total scammed! The shuttle driver was nice and polite but the van doesn't have air-conditioning. The supposed to be king-size bed never existed! I asked the from desk about it and they he said they don't actually have a king-size and the supposed to be 2 way shuttle transport to the airport as it was stated in the superior accommodation I ended paying the airport transport. It was a terrible stay. I do not recommend this place!

Absolutely Terrible! I don't know why people keep lying on these reviews. Elevator barely works. AC unit stopped blowing cold in our room so they moved us into another. The bathroom shower has a foul odor of mold. They got big CockRoaches! The doors slam hard and loud, you'll have to hold onto it before you release it to get it to close without a loud bang! When calling for room service for cleaning it can take a couple hours before they come and clean your room. They give you 2 flat pillows with two flimsy bedding sheets. It's 2025 and for the life of me can't understand how you can not have a Smart TV? Can't even screen mirror my phone to it and gotta deal with 4 or 5 weak ass channels. Seen that most reviews say airport transfer is free...maybe on the way there it was, atleast for me but when asked about transportation back to the airport they told me 400 pesos which is pretty close to what Grab would've cost maybe slightly more. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and book for Mactan Newtown. Not only is it a better stay, you get a pool, washer machine, rice cooker, hotplate and an actual fridge. Downside might be a little further away from the airport but I rather deal with that then ever ever EVER come back here again! No Thank You! Not worth the money at Any Cost! Not even at a Discount! Do Not Come Here!

Good airport hotel. Airport transfers were helpful and on time. The staff were all very friendly. The room was nice and spacious. The bathroom was not the best but fine for one night. There was a cafe/convenience store opposite the hotel too.

Amazing stay , great breakfast , wonderful atmosphere,

The staff here is fantastic. Pro tip. They will give you only one key. Leave it in the slot when you go out. When you come back, ask them to meet you at your room to open the door, otherwise the AC will be off the entire time you are gone. Jason is fantastic. He knows great places to go, vidit, eat, etc.

Decent older property. Staff could pay more attention to their work, but overall a decent place to stay.

I really liked the cleanliness of this hotel overall and very unique. The staffs are very nice and will take care of things for you as quick as possible. The only thing I dislike about is the Key Card. Which it powers up the entire room, and shuts the entire power out when taken out of the card slot.

Scheduled for massage and they never showed up. Staff never called back and followed up.

Decent place. Clean and safe. Most of staff very friendly

The staff and workers we're all very nice and attentive. The location is abit out of the way from the attraction, plus the surrounding area is very busy and loud

Very convenient

Everything was within waking distance

Nice starting point for the first couple days

They have an ai kettle pot for hot water for making coffee but the plug doesn't fit any of the outlet so I called front desk but waiting for so long I came down to get hot water. The good thing is the shuttle service going to the airport.

The people were great with excellent service

Great property and location

Great find after finding ourselves stranded in Cebu. Close to Airport and major shops. Friendly staff and overall room was excellent, clean and King sized bed made for a beautiful night's sleep. Complimentary breakfast, while advertised as banquet, pleasingly surprised It was choice from international breakfast menu. Ofc I went the Aussie complete with eggs, bacon, sausage, button mushrooms and baked beans served with toast. A complimentary iced tea (could be coffee or juice) was the perfect start to the morning after a nights rest

I didnt like the busy area and there was too much traffic!

The hotel itself and the room are good. However the service was mediocre and although they advertised Airport Pickup we had difficulty reaching reception to arrange pickup which took an additional 20 minutes

Unfortunately the amenities were not great, my driver that picked me up at the airport was very ki d and accommodating, however the front office staff upon check in was not very welcoming. The restaurant in the lobby does not serve very good food, which is very expensive on top of that, I paid almost php for 2 small bottles of water which is unheard of. Overall my experience was fair, however there is much room for improvement.

It was loud and had a terrible smell. The front desk was not friendly and did.not speak any English. I would not go back and highly recommend staying at another hotel.

Bad location dangerous bathroom

The property is abit dated but for the price it is value for money. It is great for a night stay before flying out from Cebu airport The area is great for dining and shopping

Friendly staff. Free shuttle to the airport. Spacious room and lots of restaurants nearby.

Great stay and good price free shuttle airport very clean and nice staff… it’s just it’s very filth around lapu lapu city walkin around better stay in Mandaue i recommend Bai hotel good price and center good breakfast hotel and near lechon resto taste very good than here in lapu lapu city

The bedding needs to be updated as it’s not white anymore but very grey. It was ok overall. Free airport shuffle.

Decent hotel for the price but can do better. Nice room and bed. Bathroom is horrible small and NO HOT WATER the whole time I was there

Awful customer service and communication. This is absolutely not acceptable. This hotel is untrustworthy at best.

Safety

Although, I believe our room needed improvement as far as air conditioning, more channels, coffee should automatically be given, coffee cups should be there already when the room has been cleared from any mess, it made up for awesome room service. The staff went above and beyond their means to give you an awesome experience with Appleton. My recommendation is to upgrade their rooms, which means the cost may go up per room. That is all. Thanks Appleton for the wonderful service.

It was not convenient to call every time you want to go out as the elevator was down when we were there. The staff were doing their best effort so not their fault.

Close to the airport

Elevator under maintenance so can’t go without staff whilst we have a room on 6th floor Door shuts with a huge sound

I liked everything

Enjoy the area and hotel very much

I was there and it was a good hotel. Good customer service. Room was clean. Good water pressure with hot water in shower. Nothing major to complain about. Good hotel for the price.

Was OK for short stay

Clean enough , no hot water at night

Only English channel was Nickelodeon

The price was good but photos are somewhat deceptive because the property is very worn.

Hotel needs cleaning mold in the shower Around the hotel not to safe

No hot water for shower, no ice for mango shake

We will be back again

I always stay at Appleton the night before or after a flight. They are very professional, have comfy beds and good a/c and a great pricepoint

Five stars! Room is clean.

The front desk service was excellent. I didn’t have to wait for anything. Everyday I received lots of smiles and greetings from the front desk girls and boys. The hotel has a security guard standing at the front door at all times and opening the door to come in. The breakfast was ok with small plate of food. Outside the property the area is not safe for walking due to lots of traffic and the street is not designed for pedestrians. Lots of small cafes, pizzas and a supermarket right next to the hotel. Lastly, keep your cash to yourself and not inside the safety box.

WiFi doesn’t work. Totally mis-sold hotel & a tourist trap. Don’t say you have offer when in fact you don’t Rooms are okay Shuttle to airport but the lack of connectivity in this hotel is poor and shows the lack of infrastructure in the surrounding area and city

The front desk never answered my phone calls. Their excuse is that it’s PLDT’s fault the telephone company. I’ve requested via email regarding shuttle never received an answers. The hotel conditions is pretty good plus breakfast. But definitely need to change the toll free number and ADD WhatsUp since ko he ever answers the telephone calls.

Very bad internet avoid this hotel at all cost if you need stable internet.

We stayed here for 2 days and we didn’t have any internet connection during our whole stay. We asked them about it and the reception staff told us they’re going to let the maintenance team fix it. They didn’t even fix it for 2 days. Also, we had our breakfast included in our stay, but there were a lot of cockroaches in the restaurant- on the walls crawling around. The faucet in our room also was broken. Hot shower was really not hot enough. When you take a shower, the water goes all around the floor of the bathroom including the floor around the toilet.

Very good location, airport shuttle, although requested pick up but messages was no response . WiFi didn’t work on 7th floor Airport shuttle was available after check out. Thank you. Staff very good.

Go to hell ISO k, accept the bed. It's so hard. And the sheets did not fit. They just come off. I don't like that. The food is not very good either. Airport shuttle has so many restrictions . It's very clean. I'm not against staying here again. But I might consider not because of the bed situation.

Nothing worked properly! TV sound and picture terrible! Nickel and dimed the guests! Saw restaurant manager delute Orange juice with water! Was fined 500 psp for dirty sheets! Had to request extra toilet paper and bottle water!

Second time we stay there. Good hotel with good breakfast. We will be back there again soon.

No internet and I saw a roach

Everything is nice😍

The free shuttle .. staff was great..and food Was great … value for money ..

...

We air conditioner did not work right we had the temperature set too high and had a governor you couldn’t turn it down to get it cooler. It ran 24 hours and never cooled the room off. It was super hot in there. Most things were broken safe didn’t work, everything was in disrepair

Nothing

Basic, essential hotel amenities. Conveniently close to Mactan International Airport.

Like the old saying goes, all good things must come to end was there before the pandemic was OK now no hot water. Good luck with the Wi-Fi and the only thing is the toilet is OK as long as you never have to use it. Water pressure is basically nonexistent no hot water even after you wait 10 minutes Lukewarm is the best it could do

Would be nice if it had hot water and you didn’t have to worry about the Internet shutting off every couple minutes

Main room is fairly good, but I think bathroom need renovation to entirely change it out. Otherwise good stay.

This is a 2 star at best! Roaches, dirty room, pictures online are not accurate! They only give one room key so you can’t leave the room key in the room to keep the ac on. Even hours after having the ac on it was 78 degrees. Breakfast was awful! We stayed at Belmont at the beginning of our trip which was only $10 more and their facility was pristine with an AMAZING buffet breakfast.

This hotel is close to airport and provide one-way transportation to the airport. The bathroom is not so clean. Staffs are friendly but the hotel charging extra for everything for every little things. I asked for extra pillow, since pillow is too small. They charge 100 peso/pillow.

At the heart of everything. Shopping and dining within walking distance and extremely safe. Will come back again.

The service is great. Pick up from airport. The area is secure and safe. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast is really bad 3/10. Even though it is free it tastes terrible. They dont give you enough towels only two. You have to call and ask and give them your first used two. The spa is closed. They dont give you bodywash. Just shampoo and conditioner. Only one bottle. The area however is packed with food and the Mall beside it is very very bad. Probably the worst mall in the Phillipines.

Convenient in everything.

located in a busy section of BASAK. Room was large and comfortable, so was the king size bed. hot water, in the shower is excellent. Aircon is excellent thoroughly satisfied with the service.

This is a decent hotel and close to all the amenities including a 15min drive to the airport. Staff are not overly friendly, but we were just staying for convenience.

Photos are misleading. My advice to the management: Hire one doorman instead of 2 and use the money to fix up the hallways. Room was ok.

Pros: Cant think of any. Cons: Dingy room. Stayed Nov-2022 for a few hours (checked out of a hotel in Cebu city) in order to be close to the airport to catch my evening flight and avoid the rush hour traffic. Has 1 lift, no assistance provided with my luggage although I saw someone else being assisted later. Safe was working and as it was not bolted to the furniture they carried it out and brought a new one in. Kettle, cups and coffee provided. Very dingy even with all the lights on. Caught one cockroach and another got away. Was offered a hotel shuttle to the airport but they had to leave to do an airport pickup. I observed outside were few taxis all full so at 19:00 I asked hotel to book a taxi for 20:00pm. At 20:06pm I asked about my taxi and they told me they have no contacts for calling taxis and they sent the doorman out to flag one down. Luckily a customer arrived in a taxi and I jumped in.

Good option for a budget hotel. I’d return.

We stayed here one night to be close to the airport. The room was well appointed, and quiet as it is off the main road. The restaurant was good and convenient. Staff was good and very responsive. But when the lights go out in the room it was unfortunate that the baby roaches came out, starting in the bathroom and spreading out from there. Once the lights are on they tented to hide back in their respective hiding locations, drains, behind molding etc. Bed was comfortable.

Issues with air conditioning and internet. Air conditioning Units looks new but it was not functioning well. Staff were kind and accommodating by moving us to a different room. Internet worked well on the second room but air conditioning is just a slight improvement. I am not sure what’s wrong with the units. Maybe needs cleaning? Not sure.

the lights a bit dim and shower head is not so good but all worth the price

Do not book this hotel. Dirty and worn. Tiny mean breakfasts Booking out there were two tiny stains in the bed linen . One a penny sized blood stain the other tiny. They charged us 500 pesos for normal laundry requirements. Learned the lesson that there are far better deals in much nicer places. You have been warned.

The staff are extra helpful. I checked in this hotel May 28 to June 1 2023. I left my phone in my room and the front desk called me at the airport and have my mobile delivered to the airport.

The place is clean, without surprises, a good value. Best is that it's close to the airport and shopping.

Only one complaint working on room next to me very loud

Quite , excellent service by the employees and staff, will absolutely stay there again

Close to the airport

Bathroom walls needs to be cleaned. AC needs to be service & cleaned in order to maintain its coolness. TV channels are limited only for news & advertisements. No movies. I’m fairly satisfied with my stay for a two-star hotel.

I like it

The property is very outdated; the area is very sketchy. We got a different room to compare to what we booked, and they didn't tell us (instead of getting a king-size bed, we got two single beds). When I complained, they told me they could have put the bed together for us, but they never did it. The bathroom was rusty; there was NO HOT WATER, and the smell of the water was disgusting. I do not recommend this place!

The property was nice and we enjoyed our stay. The area directly outside the property was awful and not what we had hoped for. That being said. .the 24 HOUR AIRPORT SHUTTLE makes up for Any shortcomings. So overall we give 4.5 stars

Great staff. Very welcoming. The room was very spacious and very nicely decorated. Bed was stiff but very common here in the Philippines. No hot water in shower barely Luke warm. I would definitely stay again, even though small issues. Breakfast Beef tapa was really good. But the bacon not so good. There is a mall 2 doors down. Lots of shopping in the area including outlets. Lots of food. Thabks Appleton

I was disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The experience started well with the airport pickup meeting me as promised and transferring me swiftly to the hotel. Checkin was efficient and friendly. I was given a room on the first floor at the front of the hotel. I was kept awake most of the night by the noise of people chatting loudly outside the hotel door. The room felt tired and rundown examples and needed attention. The room air on was noisy and I had to turn off. The tv system needs attention with many channels not working. The bathroom was poor the cheapest plastic seat on the toilet and no hot water. I was due to return to the hotel in 2 weeks. I have cancelled my booking.

Friendly staff.
