Provider-sourced guest reviews.
All the staff were really friendly bar one lady who just moaned the whole time, mainly about the guests or her workload. They had an interesting menu and a good wine list. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. The gammon steak was very thick but still cooked perfectly. The traditional fry up was plentiful and delicious.
I am not a fan of cold toast. I ordered poached egg on toast. The eggs were beautifully cooked but the toast was stone cold, the butter hadn’t even melted. We ordered more toast but that also arrived cold. There was a toaster by the coffee station but the staff said they preferred not to use it. That evening I ordered ribs. They came nowhere close to falling off the bone. I requested a steak knife to cut through them but was forced to give up after 2.
All food was good

The location in North Devon is fabulous. We had a lovely welcome after a hellish journey and everything was very relaxed. The room was beautifully, tastefully appointed with all you could possibly need. It was very quiet at night. Car parking very close to our room. Breakfast excellent and evening meal superb. The Inn has a little shop selling local produce and artisan products, and there is a great little cafe for a cuppa and a cake. There is also an honesty box larder, with all you may need. Sheepwash is a charming village set in the most stunning countryside, with a river running along the valley. The locals were very welcoming and really pleasant to speak to. An amazing stay!
Absolutely nothing
Friendly, clean, comfortable and lovely food.. Great value
Friendly staff and great food
Having to leave too soon.

Very friendly staff even when busy took time to make you welcome
Time went to quick
Location. View, lovely village.
Door top of stairs was awkward to open with bags in hand. Dogs in Dinning area during breakfast and evening meals is a big No for me in the bar OK
Location, parking, have stayed before
Staff seemed off this visit, breakfast was a bit poor compared to usual
Lovely old building - great pub

The location was ideal for the places we were visiting. The inn had a friendly atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Our room had plenty of space with a seating area. Bathroom was well equipped and clean. Meals were of a high standard with plenty of choice. We would recommend that you book your evening meal in advance as it is a very busy inn.
Vriendelijke personeel, prachtige locatie en een fantastische kok. Heerlijk gegeten. Geweldig mooie plek!
Helemaal niets
Amazing place! The reception was really nice, the room was excellent, the bed was very comfortable, and the surrounding area was amazing. It was exactly what we needed. The food in the restaurant was extremely good. Breakfast was beautifully served and tasted amazing! I hope to see you again!

The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices for any kind of eater. Supper was great too, especially since we arrived on BBQ night . Our room was roomy and clean. There was a large shed in which to store our bicycles.
No problems here for us 😀
Breakfast was excellent, although timings for breakfast are limited to 8-9am. Would have liked a later breakfast on Sunday morning. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the pub is well equipped with a small coffee shop and gift shop at the back. We also had dinner there on Saturday evening which was delicious. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfortable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
Wifi was on and off but to be expected for the fairly secluded area.
Traditional, cosy, super bar. Liked coffee shop
Thank you, friendly, accommodating, helpful, lovely country Inn on the square.
No issues
Great location, staff very friendly and accommodating. Bedroom was well appointed and clean. The pub also offers nice food that changes daily and there is a small convenience shop onsite.

Beautiful, quaint village with friendly staff. Really well appointed rooms, keeping in line with the old world country charm. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is a must! Delightful food served by the Head chef - Adrian. He whizzed up a special dish for us to account for the dietaries in our group. All fresh and locally sourced ingredients!
As it was a hot day, a fan in the room would have been a nice to have.
great ambience super staff and great food my room was a super space and exceptionally well equipped. I suppose some air con would have been helpful on the hottest nights for the last 50 years but hey, how can you plan for that if you haven't needed it before?
Good size room. Loved the food. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Good bike storage
Nothing in particular
Room not serviced. Asked for more tea and coffee which never arrived
Marvelous English breakfast with plenty to chose from. The pub is exactly how you would imagine a proper Devon country pub to be. The staff were great and nothing was too much bother.
Nothing.
Breakfast was excellent, staff helpful and friendly and go the extra mile for you. Very pretty old fashioned country hotel, bar and rooms.
The walls are quite thin in the rooms, which means you can hear too much from the adjacent room - almost what they are saying in conversation.
Excellent location - wonderful staff - good food
Dining room was a little soulless
The staff were great! Friendly and attentive. The food was awesome. I had a lovely night.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Situated in a lovely location. Everything was very satisfactory.
There wasn't anything that we didn't like.
Friendly staff, lovely & well maintained old pub, great food, very comfortable room and an idyllic location. Nothing to fault!
Room was spacious and comfortable bed. Breakfast was good, location great. Food was excellant. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Room general decor a bit tired.
Quiet chilled out location. nice food. bbq and cocktails in the evening nice touch. staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great friendly staff and a beautiful village
The staff were friendly and helpful
Minor, lighting in the dining room could have been a little brighter BUT the food was fantastic.
Good room, comfortable bed. Food was decent pub fare. Good storage for my bike.
Pub nicely located in the village centre
Loverly out of the way place frendly staff good food
Lovely old inn with warm, friendly, helpful staff. Great food & drink. Super room. Electric car charger.

Excellent location for our requirements, have stayed before and never had any issues
Nothin
Convenient location with separate parking for hotel guests. Economy twin room was plenty big enough for the 2 of us with our dogs. Walk-in shower was an excellent size
No decaf tea or coffee in the room
Location good we were meeting friends who live in. The area
breakfast v good, value for money
room was cold when arriving but that was OK, but put heater on at bedtime, then was too hot, could not work out how to regulate? Maybe instructions would be good? It was too late to speak to anyone as gone midnight by then
Staff were lovely, welcoming and efficient. Room was spotlessly keen, comfortable bed, large soft towels, plenty of hot water. The wall heater warmed the room very quickly.
The nature of the old building meant that you could hear some noise from the adjacent room but it wasn't a big problem and would not stop us staying there again.
Location Great breakfast Accommodation good value for the money
Dog barking in next door room - but we knew it was dog friendly accommodation so accepted it
Excellent location, friendly welcoming staff and locals
Nothing
Private and peaceful.
Not applicable - no dislikes.
Everything was lovely. Nice and clean, everything worked, nice complimentary drinks.
Only thing for me that could be done in the room was a couple of coat pegs - not a dealbreaker:))
Lovely location, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and a good selection of dishes to choose from for Breakfast and dinner. Room was clean and had a very powerful shower.
The pillows were a little ‘lumpy’
Great rural location. Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and comfortable room. Evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Very reasonable prices.
The country lanes nearby are very narrow, with plenty of pot holes!
Lovely pub, great food, great accomodation. Absolutely nothing to fault!
Absolutely nothing to fault!
Outdoor ground floor, terraced house style entrance direct to carpark was brilliant as travelling with my dog.
Very thin walls so could hear everything in adjoining room. Only one price option for breakfast.
Friendliness of staff, their willingness to help, provide local recommendations etc all faultless. The food was delicious and exceeded expectations: from locally sourced breakfast ingredients to pub lunch which exceeded expectations. Lovely little touches like homemade biscuit served with coffee/tea orders. Room had kettle with tea and coffee, a gorgeous large hot shower. Bed was wonderfully comfortable.
Nothing
Very helpful and friendly staff, very comfortable and clean room. Had a Good Friday night chatting with the locals.
Had a problem with the heating in our room which couldn’t be fixed until the Monday the day after we left.
The place is run so well excellent
Great location and the food was excellent
Shower didn’t work and the heater kept clicking in and out all night
Friendly good welcome , great food & good atmosphere
Lovely staff and amazing food
Convenient for the wine tasting up the road that’s why we visited but this lovely hub of the village was a great stay fantastic staff , nothing too much trouble , room was lovely and the food was excellent.
Breakfast was excellent and so was the evening meal.
Rooms could do with updating.
It’s a beautiful building and the owners have made it a warm and welcoming place. There’s a bar area with huge real fire and a separate dining room with log burner. There’s food is of a high standard and much is locally sourced. They also have a cafe and gift shop at one end which serves drinks, sweet treats and has a fabulous selection of gifts. The rooms are spacious and adequately furnished, individual heater was helpful and the bed was super comfy. All the staff were friendly and hospitable, and Kim went out of her way for me delivering my goodies bought in the shop to my home in Northumberland. I really cannot fault this charming country pub, it ticks all the boxes and if you’re looking for a peaceful and cosy place to stay whilst exploring the area, this should suit you perfectly. Please note: it is isolated and there are limited taxis so if you need one book ahead. It was ideal for me as I was attending a memoir course at Arvon Totleigh Barton and wanted peace & quiet to write before I joined the group. Spent a very productive four nights at the Half Moon Inn.
Everything was good, no complaints
Friendly welcome, food, cleanliness and location.
As a sufferer of back pain. I found the bed very uncomfortable.
Comfortable friendly Inn. Room very nice, comfortable & en suite facilities are good. Heating came on at 4pm so room quite cold when we arrived. Pub where we also had dinner was cool but throws provided. Bean stew was a disappointing as not many beans & a small scoop of mash. Husband’s pie meal was good. Breakfast was very good. Would recommend but take warm indoor clothes in winter.
Rooms rather cool
Quiet location.
Room was a little cold
The room was spacious, extremely clean with a very comfortable bed. The staff were very welcoming, professional & helpful. The food was fantastic! So well cooked, hot and tasty. It was one of the best places we’ve stayed in for a long time. The attention to detail was outstanding.
Nothing!
A lovely quiet location for the August bank holiday weekend, I had the last room available on the night which was the one for people with disabilities in a block beside the main building which didn't bother me at all. It was spotless. Comfy bed and a nice spacious room were much appreciated after a longer than expected drive that day. I was just in time to order a meal which was tasty. I explored a bit the next day, deciding to go to Trevonne beach, bit further, but a really lovely beach and back then via Bude for my second night. Parking was on the main square on the 1st night and then in front of my room on the 2nd night - much appreciated as I was able to sort my bags.
I don't really like tinned tomatoes and forgot to say that on the 2nd morning.
FOOD
Friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. Quality and choice of food compliments the Half Moon. We will certainly revisit.
Lovely gem of a place Fab room and shower Fantastic tasty food with plenty of choice
Friendly staff, arrived on a Friday evening and the pub was buzzing, a great night with good food.
Lovely traditional inn set in a village square. Cosy bar and restaurant area Looked like there was lovely additional accommodation around the the back of the inn with gardens. Food was very good and although a bit expensive, was good value
Draught ales probably don’t sell as well as ciders or lagers as both ales I tried were not very fresh. We stayed in a nice en-suite bedroom but the bed was a bit on the small side for me (standard double) albeit comfortable
